I am looking to root my T-Mobile T849.
I look at the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=812367
It says that I need to sync at least once with Kies. However, Kies doesn't recognise the tab.
Assuming I have nothing I want to keep on the tab is there any problem skipping that step?

Hi guys.
I would like to flash, but currently it is too risky for me because i got a netlock. So i have to unlock my Samsung galaxy s.
First i tried to use the SGSUnlockTool but it said if i actually had a galaxy s.
Afterwards i used other methods like your windows unlock tool, but that didn't work too - it said that it doen't find the "nv_data.bin" file.
I read through several forums and i read that the nv_data.bin could be "damaged" because of flashing. The only problem is, i never flashed (at least i never flashed manually) I just flashed with Kies from Eclair -> Froyo and one time i used the kies reg hack to get Froyo on my galaxy s.
So what could I do?
Shall i even unlock my phone before flashing manually?
(SP and all other locks but the networklock are off!)
(btw. sorry for double post)
Thx in advance
Joker
can you please tell me what is netlock
I am at wits end trying to root this Sprint Galaxy Tab. I have tried Z4 (didn't work...the screen simply turns white), then I tried the "UNIVERSAL" unlock that is advertised on THEUNLOCKR.COM and in the ROOT guide in the GENERAL forums...all goes well up to the sync with Keis when it tell me that I need to "Reconnect the device in Samsung Keis (PC Studio)...). I try to define this in this, but the "USB" option is completly missing...
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab
Hardware -P100.08
Kernal - 2.6.32.9
Build Number - SPH-P100.EB28
The tab is not currently connected to the sprint network.
Any ideas on how to get this puppy rooted?
Thanks,
Chris
Any suggestions
Er, any suggestions on this root? I am stuck...Keis won't recognize my Tab and Z4 doesn't work...if anyone has suggestions on how to root, I would appreciate it.

Hello,
I have rooted my Galaxy Tab P1000 (Tmobile UK) through z4root. After rooting, I cannot connect it to Samsung Kies to check if an updated is available. I have tried all of the solutions mentioned on different forums (disable debugging, restore stock launcher, delete long files etc.) but it doesn't work.
The only reason I was wanting to connect it to Kies was to upgrade to Gingerbread. Is there any way to do it manually? There was procedures specified in different threads but they specifically rule out carrier locked tablets (I am presuming my Tab is carrier locked).
Thanks in advance.

What ever you read that said you couldnt because of carrier lock is complete bollocks.
I too have a Tmobile UK Tab and Ive been flashing custom roms since 30 mins of getting it home and upgraded to gingerbread first day there was a custom rom for it.
Just go here and please ffs READ the guide, If you don't you will mess something up or lose all your data etc and then come crying and get flamed for not reading in first place
Also, Gingerbread is only available in Italy, it is not available in UK, when it is it will be announced on the Samsung UK website, until then its not available at all in UK, end of.
PS. Remember to click thanks
Hi,
I am not interested in installing a custom rom, so if it is not yet available in the UK, I will wait.
Thanks.
My tab isn't detected by the computer as a samsung device. It´s detected just like a storage device, consequently I just have acess to microSD, but the kies stay in "connecting" and never connect.
With others tabs, all works perfectly, although those others be P1000 and with android 2.2.
Specifications:
Galaxy tab SPH-P100
Android 2.3.4 (I have used the rooted GingerBread of that forum. but the problem exists before tha too.)
Sorry for english!
nobody????
Pretty sure kies doesn't read our sprint tabs. Also you have to put your tab in download mode for Odin or heimdall (probably kies as well) to see the device. You also have to have the correct drivers installed for it to work.
Sent from my SPH-P100 using xda premium and ICS
hmm... I was thinking that because the official site of the samsung available the SPH-P100 drivers, it would run in kies...
Thank you very much for attention!
Just to confirm: I believe that all the drivers are correctly installed (i've searched out in all confiable sites for the drivers), so, there´s any programm that could substitue the kies? just for me can admin the device through computer (personal files: photos, musics...)... or there´s any way to connect the tab to kies?
I forgot to say that: when the debbug USB is actived, or in mod download, the computer recognize the tab as samsung device.
I F****** up..
i played with rooting and flashing before i found these forums with guides and stuff.
and now my samsung galaxy have no mobile network, no imei number and freezes when i activate bluetooth..
it was also bricked (logo loop) but i fixed that.
i have flashed stock firmware in it and it works fine beside the 3 problems above.
i've tried
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1801997
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1804123
neither did work since i cant usb connect i've tryed every option to get my pc to usb detect my mobile.
including kies and latest samsung drivers, reinstalling and with or with out kies.
someone please be my hero and give me some answers
you guys ****ing rock and i know we can fixx this!
Unfortunately the only simple way to fix things ...
Unfortunately the only simple way to fix things is to find a backup of your EFS partition - look after something called:
efs.img
efs.tar.gz
efsbackup.tar.gz
efsdev-mmcblk0p3.img.gz
(the img versions are probably the best, but either one should work to some extent).
EDIT:
OOPS, just now I noticed that you are speaking about a i9305 - you should look here:
