Ok I. Have a hero on boost and I have a weird problem. First the hero was a alltel\verizon that was flashed first to sprint then to boost. Now my question is I huave talk and text but I only have 1x data sometimes. Now what's weird is when you read the an under the ppp config it shows the [email protected]. so I tried to change it and it seems to always change back. I'm so ready to throw this phone at the wall. Please if anybody has any ideas id love to hear them. I tried qpst and also dfs. Dfs seems to keep the info in there longer but eventially it switches back. I still have a stock rooted sprint rom on it. Will it helop to change the rom. The weird thing is I can't chajge the banner either but that dosent work on my shift either..the banner on the hero is cellular south hense the cs3g but how to I change it perm. Thanks
Are you sure your hitting write to the phone in qpst?? And it sounds as if your Nam files didnt write to the phone completely and your profiles seemed to incorrect as well. If your the one who activated the hero on boost or set it up then this should sound familiar if you had someone else do it for you then I'd recommend contacting that person and have them rewrite the files again. Hope this helps.

thats what you would think but ive even checked this with the doner 2 times..of course with doner having airplane mode on and also hero with airplane mode on just in case. i did the flash. i know it wrote to the phone cause i always read the phone afterwards. the only thing that bothers me is that after i write in what should be in the AN and um area under ppp config they always revert back to the cs36 as if they are hardcoded into the rom or something. this is why im wondering if i should change roms and see if i can get it to work right.

I am thinking i am gonig to activate my cdma touch pro on page plus. has anybody else done this?
I just did my touch diamond last week
i am having nothing but problems trying to program and get my diamond working with page plus right now... what ROM and Radio are you using?
tp on pp
I activated a verizon touch pro on PP. Stuff to know, 1. a sprint tp can be done but much harder. 2. Page plus has a great subforum on howardsforum but even so until you walk through stuff yourself its confusing. Walking through is easy.
3. Activation does not use esn uses longer number under battery (meid?). However you activate be sure to indicate it is a TP because otherwise the system expects ESN numbers.
4. I am very pleased overall
Just fixed my stuck roaming issue, had to update my PRL manually with a NON-EVDO PRL file.. all fixed and im digging page plus so far.
Sorry i did not get back with you sooner vap3riley. Im still kinda new to my phone and do not yet recognise all the icons, its very well posible that i too am stuck in roaming i just dont realise it
My phone is mostly default except for a few apps i added and tweaks. No roms yet.
it deffently has to do with your prl i had the same problem when i first activated my htc hero200 to pages plus... and stupid me flashed it from alltel to sprint to page plus.. but i do know its your prl i have updated mine manully after activating it doing the *22890 thing or what ever i was roaming untill i manully updated the prl then everything is great the only problem that i am haveing now beside the internet and pic messageing is that sometimes my phone has to reboot when i have a incoming text message??? but when i update my prl with the same prl that i use it works fine for a day maybe to then it will start rebooting agian untill i reupdate my prl.. sorry for kinda asking a question while answering one but if you need any help with the prl i can let you know what i do know.. and if any one could help me out i would be very happy you can email me at [email protected] thanks every one
I've been having a problem where I would swap ESN's on Sprint for another phone and then go back to the Android Vogue and notice data would not be working. In WM there is an Update Profile icon that can reinitiate this. Is there something similar for Android? If not, how do you guys suggest getting data working for someone who swaps phones back and forth often?
Run Android from SD. AFAIK, we don't even have access to the operator settings like in WM.
That's what I thought. I still prefer to run it straight from NAND though I take you guys just flash to WM and then back to Android in order to get data working?
I run from SD, but that is correct. Though I don't think most people swap phones like that. Do becareful with doing too many flashes though as some people attribute it to killing their phones.
Ok so you repaired the Vogue's esn? The problem is that your data setting and passwords are different on your Vogue. I don't know if your android rom has epst. Go to the phone and dial ##778#, if it works you can see your settings. Just try to match them as close as possible to your currently working phone. To edit these values you will need your SPC (msl codes). Typically for phone you need to enter your MDN #(your phone #) and your MSID #. For data you need to match up your MIP settings, MIP Default profile and MIP Custumer Profile 1. Just step through all the settings and match them up with the original phone. Since both are Sprint phones their should not be that many differences.
In the past I have just done a reinstall of an Offical WinMo image from Sprint then get data and phone working. For data go into Settings, phone, internet settings, and run that (I can't remember what the function is called). That should provision your data. Once you are up and running then you should be able to flash back to Android and be fine. In provisioning this way, there may be an issue where it changes your passwords and your original phone may not have data. I have had it happen where both phones would work and sometimes the data on the original does not work. You can dial ##778# in both and compare to make sure they are the same.
If you go into the WinMo section and search you can find information about getting data to work. If you don't find it there try going into the Mogul WinMo section and search. Getting data to work on a WinMo was very common issue when flashing different Roms and is virtually the same process for all WinMo phones. On the WinMo side it's been pretty thoroughly covered on XDA and PPCGEEKS.
You could try a search at mobile-files.us and mobile-files.com. They tend to cover a lot of what you are doing here.
EPST is a executable file that comes with the WinMo roms and is usually in the Windows folder.
I wonder if someone could actually re-code a new version that would work on Droid/Linux?
How do the new Droid phones that come from Sprint get programmed?
I haven't tried this yet, but I wonder if you're just switching back and forth if you really need the provisioning. I've switched back with the flash back to WinMo method, but noticed that the MSID and other data is already still in there. It does go through a data provisioning process of some sort, so maybe it is necessary. But still, if it's already been activated on the phone number previously, it seems like there's some slim chance it might not be necessary to flash back to WM to do a simple ESN swap back.
Has anyone tried it? I'll probably try out my TP2 on Android for a few days again soon now that sound is working, but then get frustrated by the parts that still don't work well and flash back to the Vogue again. So maybe I'll try it then if nobody else has.
You need to switch back to windows mobile in order to activate, even if the phone has the mdn and msid programed in it still has a provisioning code it sends out so you can activate it but you just won't have data

a quick history of what I've done so far
Sumsung I897 captivate from ATT unlock and being used on Telus network was working great for about 4 days, then all kinds of problem started cropping up.
Phone came unlocked, I rooted using update.zip from xda, installed rom manager and started removing ATT bloatware, entered SMS and APN info which worked fine.
Yesterday I noticed that where I once got good reception I was now getting nothing and would have to drive down the street before I would get something descent. I thought maybe I'd put it back to stock with rom manager and see if that would help which it did not. It actually made it worse, decided to go all out and use the Odin3 one click downloader just to make sure I was back to stock firmware. This didn't work either but now I can enter the SMS and change the preferred network type but it doesn't save. Preferred network type is grayed out and even though I can change it it never save same as SMS.
Now I can't hold connecting in my living room where my wifes Milestone gets full bars. I tried taking the phone to where I had the best signal and change the preferred network, SMS, and set the network operator but it doesn't save any info, can't find on operator half the time on manual or auto and gave me an error and logged it to #*9900#
I've been at this for 2 days straight and can't figure out how to get it right back to stock, it seems to keep hanging onto the same preferred network and not saving anything I enter.
What can I do to get back to stock, and it has to be something that wipes everything clean, clean, clean, because even the GSM disconnects stay logged under *#*#4636#*#*
***I desperately even tried pulling the batt and SIM card for the night in hopes that would do something.
So, if I'm understand what happened correctly, you bought an unlocked Captivate, rooted it, deleted some bloatware, entered your Telus APN info and everything worked awesome for about four days. Now everything has gone down the hole. Is that right?
If that is the case, then we need to figure out what changed. Using Odin3 would have definitely put you back to stock/unrooted your phone, I don't think you could go back any further than that. If I were you, I would act like I first got the phone. As in, I would do everything you did to it, as if was day one. At one point, everything worked fine. Try to recreate that. You can always look into exchanging it or perhaps Samsung customer support can give you a little more insight to what's going on. Here's the number if you want to try them out.
Samsung customer service - 1.800.726.7864
Thanks, I've gone through the process a few times today from start to finish trying to figure it out ... maybe some of the problems aren't real problems and just limitations that I didn't know where their. I've since flash with odin3+re-partion to the bone stock i897UCJF6 as in not the one click method. It loaded fine but still have the same issue, I can't set preferred network type or get it to keep the number entered into SMSC. I think if I can get passed that I'll be be one the up side of winning. I keep noticing that the log of GSM disconnects never clears or the usage statistics under *#*#4636#*# , I'm thinking its in the same area that other bad data is being held onto instead of being cleared when flash firmware or factory reset.
Is anyone able to change preferred network type? maybe I was never able to change it but I think I should be able too.
I may be wrong in assuming this but I don't think ATT is going to be interested helping me connect one of their handset that I'm trying to use on foreign network, but I could be wrong and is an open option.

used this to lock my phone to WCDMA only so that problem is solved

be carefull using the service menu as I have no idea what most of this stuff does
I got the SMS service number issue fix by taking out my sim, swapping in another known working sim from the same network, setting the service number, pressing update and then swapping back. Before every time I tried to update the service number it spit out an "update error" can anybody tell where the SMS config data is stored? on the phone or sim.
The only problem I'm having now is with reception which maybe fixable if I can set the preferred network to WCDMA only. But the button for that option is a light blue colour vs other phones that I can change this setting on. Does the blue mean anything like a locked function or something that set by the firmware as unchangeable?
To make a long story short, I recently purchased a used HTC Hero (sprint). After purchasing I played with the phone for a day or two to see what it can do (my first android phone, after being a Windows phone user) and in the process noticed that my esn was correct but my meid was all zeroes.
Now to skip thru all of the unnecessary stuff, I've been trying to change the meid back to what it should be, the number shown on the sticker below the battery. I've read every guide I can find on the internet. I've googled a hundred different times, I've done everything I can think of but I can't get qxdm to allow me to write the meid to the phone! After I zero out all esn locations, I attempt to write my meid. Everytime I get the same answer: Error response received from target.
Let me recap... I've tried downgrading the radio to stock (and tried other radios as well), downgrading to android 1.5, it's been rooted, I've scanned and scanned and scanned in cdma workshop to be sure I have all esn locations, with airplane mode on and off, I've done memory dumps then went thru them with a hex editor to be sure I haven't missed any esn locations, etc, etc.
After more than a week of trying to get this phone usable again, I don't know what to try next. I've reached the end of my known options with this phone, and could really use some help!!!
did you ever figure out the problem?
No, not yet. This seems to be a nearly dead topic around here, but hopefully someone can help me out.
I might have something that could work for you. Pm me if you want to give it a shot.

Yep, I did all that every time. And still no go. But, exploring some other options...I DID manage to finally get it. Thanks to help from you and from Klown80. I appreciate it big time.

Hi, quickly - apologies for the grovelling "plz help m3" thread, but i'm trying to sort out the logistics of moving house on a deadline for today from work using my now non-functional mobile and i'm in a bit of a panic! I normally hate these threads.
So, for some reason my phone has stopped sending or receiving calls and texts. Data is completely unaffected. This just happened out the blue this morning and nothing i've tried has been able to fix this. I'm running ARHD 31, with no custom kernel. 4A.21.3263 radio and i'm on 3UK. S-off with bootloader 1.44.
I've tried installing a different radio, the same radio, reflashing ROM, clearing cache/dalvik/data several times. Restoring nandroid. Everything I can think of, but when I make a call I just get a loud tone and my phone returns to the dialpad. When people call me they get the same thing.
Any ideas?

Are you on SuperCID by any chance? Some carriers seem to be blocking SuperCID, if you are, try changing it back to your carriers CID.
Used phone? Could be IMEI banned, happened me on a Galaxy S3 used sold by a thief.
This happened to me...here's your fix
-----------------------
Alright so this is what reenable voice calls. I downloaded omjs ROM from august ( really any stock ROM should do) so I would have the ability to use all the programming codes and update the profile. Obviously do a full wipe( system, data, cache, dalvik cache) loaded the ROM once it got settled and I went past the initial startup stuff I did what's called an "SCRTN" (that's ##72786# on your phones dialer) then hit the three dots and confirmed I wanted to reset the network settings. Also an "RTN" (##786#) won't work because of the custom recovery in case anyone was gonna do that instead. Let the device come back up it should auto activate and go through the hands free activation on its own if it doesn't just go to settings and update the profile you can do the prl too while your doing it just to make sure everything is working fine. Then reload this rom and toggle airplane mode on and then off and there you go. Now this worked for me it may not work for you just keep that in mind but hopefully this helps until they find out what may cause that issue.
Hi guys, thanks for the ideas! The phone is definitely not IMEI blocked as I bought it new and its not superCID. I'll try the fix with the codes and see if that works. I get an 'unrecognised code' error when typing in the codes on ARHD, i'll try and stock rom and see if they work there.
EDIT - No luck. Those code aren't recognised.

OK, so I played around in the settings a bit and noticed that my number was showing up as something different - from memory it looks like the number my SIM had before my old number was ported over. So I rang my carrier and told them, guy did a 'backline check' and turns out my hunch was right! My number was somehow mismatched, they're sorting it out now. Thanks for your ideas guys.
