Hello everyone,
After lots of searching and no solution, I decided to post the problem here.
I have been using Cyanogen mods for the past couple of months and I am pretty happy with it. It's fast, reliable and generally stable.
The same I believe also for MIUI and derivatives such as Minberry, Galnet etc.
I haven't able to pinpoint the exact time this problem happened, but I believe it started after the 7.1 update.
Since then, HD video on ALL Cyanogen roms I have tried, is choppy and terrible.
I have tested Cyanogen roms, MIUI, MIUI US, Galnet MIUI and Minteberry. I have also tested in combination with Platipus kernel, default kernels and glitch kernel. I have also tested with various radios. I have tried several different apps for video recording.
Still I get the same, choppy, laggy and generally frustrating video recording functionality, when I use HD recording.
I don't know what else to try. I am currently running the latest Mintberry 1.11.18 and the latest glitch kernel and I am having the same problem.
The weird thing is that, my brother also has the i9000 with Cyanogen mod and he doesn't have this problem, camcorder on his phone works fine.
I have tried going back to stock roms and Darky's, but I have found the sluggishness and speed, more frustrating than the camcorder not working.
I have read that this is a common problem with Cyanogen mods, but I am not sure that this is the case. I mean, why is there a problem on some devices and on others there is no problem?
In any case, has anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this?
If I am not able to solve this problem, I will eventually sell the phone and buy something else. I like MIUI and the Galaxy S in general, but not being able to record my little daughter while she grows up, beats the purpose of having it
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

So here I am, another noob with a question
The problem is, I'm using third different ROM(used MiniCM6, Stable 2.2.1, currently FroyoBread) on my X8, and they all seem to have the same problem. For some odd reason my sound is ahead of my audio when I record a video . At first I thought it's just a problem of one ROM, but when I tried three of them, and they all got the same problem, I started wondering, maybe there's a fix for that.

That's a General Bug to all CM6(Froyo) Custom Roms
for now, there is no fix for that and we should live with it

On gingerbread roms that problem don't exist.
A/V is synced.
Also... we almost have a full 3mpx camera in GingerDX now... thanks to doixanh...
If you need both full cam and AV sync wait for v005 of Ginger DX
i'm using GingerDX 006 and the lag still exists....u_u

I recently got virtuous quattro on my phone now my camera doesn't work I can't watch videos cause there extremely slow and choppy, if I put it on vibrate it doesn't and it was roaming for two days. But other than that its fine any tips on how to fix these problems if possible.
All those are listed as problems in the Quattro change log and in bug tracker. Since it is still in RC stage you can and must xpect things like those to happen. Please next time read the Quattro thread before asking
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using XDA App
I did read it they said they fixed the cameras problems. And didn't mention my video would malfunction. I'm pretty sure it said that on the rc2 cameras was no longer a problem.
The camera is still a problem on RC4, pictures will have strange lines at the top.
They also said that Video Playback was laggy. And the phone does vibrate if you enable it.
Quattro is still in development stages it is not a bug free ROM. It is good for you to try ICS but, you probably will need to wait a wee while before a stable release comes out.
Quattro is good, but not without glitches

Yeah, except for the faulty camera, flash, and other such stuff, this is a really good ROM if you want to try ICS on IncS. I am on RC3 now, and I guess I will wait for the VQ folks to come out with a stable release.
But if you want a fully functional ROM, try Cynaogen.. It is pretty good

A small list of issues I have observed on VQ RC3
Here are a few things that do not seem to be working fine on my IncS with VQ RC3 (and RC4 as well) -
1. The camera - everything about it.. first pic is dark, the pics are of poor quality, and the stock camera supports only 5mp (strange), and panaroma does not work, and the camcorder does not work even with 3rd party cam apps. Video playback is very slow, and video-streaming is not great.
2. Flash when used with a 3rd party camera app (or even the stock cam for that matter) does not work. I am using lgcam, but don't like it much
3. Gallery closes down when editing a picture
4. The soft-key lights do not work when the brightness is dimmed-down (some people might actually like this.. I did, at first )
5. Certain apps like winamp do not work. They just close down without an error message, which would have been useful.
6. I have not been able to figure out how to set a custom music file for a ring-tone.. anybody?
7. The indicator light on my phone turns green with the battery stat still at 92% when charging. And the battery time does not seem as impressive how it is on Cyanogenmod (Have not tried CM on this IncS though, forcing me to think that I may have to calibrate the battery on this device once, just to check).
This definitely is not the entire list of glitches on this ROM, but only what I have observed in the past few days of using it. I see the same on both RC3 and RC4. I hope the devs have noticed these, and working on them.. I really liked this ROM; it is clean, smooth, and pretty KISSy - just a few things here and there to be ironed out

Hello all,
I've recently purchased a Galaxy Tab 8.9 and of course after a day or two with a stock ROM, I was looking to install a custom ROM to get a better overall experience.
Unfortunately, with every custom ROM I've tried, I get this weird display artifact (see video below). It starts when the bootloader switched over to the boot animation. The artifact will continue after the OS is loaded up and on the lock-screen. If the display is turned off manually or due to time-out and then turned back on, everything is fine. It's doesn't seem to affect functionality at all, it's just really annoying.
It's happened with CM9, Galaxian Soup AOSP, Galaxian Soup AOKP, Overcome 8.9, and AOKP b29-31. When I restore my nandroid backup, it works fine, so I don't think it's a hardware issue, but it's really annoying.
Broken up URL is below (still a newb), please let me know if anyone else has this issue and/or knows what may cause it or fix it.

That unfortunately is a hardware issue. You need to replace the unit :-(
Thanks for the reply, but wouldn't a hardware issue be present with the stock OS as well?
It really depends on what registry is being touched by the custom rom. It looks like the vertical synchronisation of the screen is being screwed up somehow. If this effect is seen only in your device it must mean that something is fishy with a hardware part of the screen controller and the sync if being affected by a value written in some other part of the control registries. I have no idea how I could express this clearer.
That's awkward to be honest. I haven't seen anything like it in my 7310, be it with Stock, or any other custom ROMs I've tried (from the old AOSP Galaxian Soup alphas to the current beta and the old versions of Overcome too). Do you completely wipe your device before flashing any custom ROM?
I did completely wipe data/cache/dalvik before every ROM install.
Unfortunately, I don't know how I'd return it, since the error is only apparent when a custom ROM is installed.

i got the same issue, how did you resolve it?
thanks
Hi all,
I've been using the official 4.2.2 builds of CM, but its starting to get annoying how bad the lag can be loading apps and switching screens.
I've changed the performance settings and various other little tweaks, but nothing seems to have fixed the issue.
I'm now thinking of trying a different ROM, can anyone recommend a ROM that fast. Not really that fussed about features as as long as bluetooth works.
I was looking at Slimbean but bluetooth doesnt work, so I'm thinking of trying the carbon ROM.
Anyone able to recommend any tweaks/ROMS
Cheers
So, what is the difference between custom roms and stock roms that causes the lag? I've noticed two things with my 6. I've tried Bliss, PureNexus, crDroid, and purely rooted stock. On the stock rom, after a short while, my 6 lags more and more to where the phone is unusable. It's very frustrating. But, when I'm on a custom rom, it's generally smooth and very fast with no lag at all, BUT, I do get random reboots and shutdowns and fc's. I don't get reboots, fc's or shutdowns on the stock rom. But I get horrible lag. Is it possible to get no lag with no reboots? Has anyone been able to make a stock rom with no lag? That would be ideal for me. I do use root for a few things, call recorder, and backup mostly. Though I don't even need the backup much anymore with google saving everything online now. I've never tried to build a rom of my own, so I don't know what the difference would be to make one like that.

My fiance is a writer and she records all of her interviews. She has an LG G4 (totally stock) She uses an app called Bold Beast for recording her calls. No root required. (we did need to fiddle with the multitude of settings to get good recording quality...)
As for the lag, I've had my device since 9/16 (bought used on Swappa). It came with the Beta for N installed. I've been using official N since it was released as an OTA. I only experience any noticeable lag in one situation: When my phone is very low on battery (<30) and I use HDR+, usability and reaction times takes a serious hit. I'm a moderate power user, otherwise, and I haven't experienced anything else that I would classify as lag.
That said, I wonder if there was some serious batch quality differences when this phone was being manufactured as I've seen other complaints of lagging.
Good luck, and sorry that I could only provide a contrary anecdotal response.
