Hi! My friend has i9000, but doesn't want to root it, for warranty reasons. He really needs camera hack mod that is in .zip format, that is meant to be installed with CWM. Will it work with stock android recovery by choosing install update.zip? And is there any possibility to lose camera application at all, by doing this update?

Hey Guys,
I want to get the latest AOSP rom, and stubled upon this thread for I897UCKI2:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1283566
I am already running Apex 9.2. Am I to believe that all I have to do is copy that zip over to my phone, and then boot to recovery, and install that zip?
I tried to do this, and it is stuck on the AT&T World Phone screen.
Any help?
Thanks
U need i897 gingerbread bootloaders if you don't have them already. (link in my signature below)
Then backup your stuff, wipe, etc. then u should be able to flash through cwm recovery.

because you need to convert to RFS (disable lagfix) first
Okay I have a Samsung I9000m I got yesterday. I made a copy of my EFS from what I Can tell and copied it to my PC. I currently am Running stock Rogers Firmware 2.3.3 and want to install a 4.0.4 firmware like Dark Knights 3. IS there anything else I need to do or can I just copy it to the root of the phone and install it with clockwork or is there something else I am missing. I go to recovery but it is the stock recovery, this is where I ma thinking I am missing something. The phone is also rooted. Can any one point me in the right direction. And yes I been looking on the forums and not seeing what I need.
Thanks

If you can not enter CWM Recovery mode, you can not install ICS. You need to install a kernel such as Semaphore (installed with ODIN in box PDA) and you can install it and ICS with no problem.
Oh I forgot, when you go to install ICS, you must remove the MicroSD, but may occur Bootloop.
and backup the the efs folder first!!!
Sounds like clockworkmod is not properly installed.
Revert to stock using odin. Then install CF-root

This will root your stock rom and install clockworkmod.
OK I have a GT i9000 and I did manage to get into CWMode.
Now each time I try to install new custom ROM (I choose the zip from the SD card) 5secs after it starts installing it reboots and winds up in the blue CWM recovery screen. Tried different ROM's but - nada.
Any feedback?

You need to update the bootloader to a newer version. Install a 2.3 stock rom first and it should be fine.

Well I thought 'cause I'm on GB 2.3.3 it is OK.
Do I really need a new bootloader?
UPDATE: I managed to install the ROM. Dunno why, but on the second CWM screen I again choose to install the zip and it did the job.
Hi all!
I'm going to flash CWM recovery on Samsung galaxy mini (stock 2.3.4) and I'd like to ask a couple of questions.
I'm going to follow this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529863
Is it okay?
1. Do I have to root the device before flashing CWM with odin? Phone isn't rooted now, it's completely stock.
2. Can I install ANY custom rom with CWM? eg. CM9 or 10?
3. I want to make sure that if i want to install a custom rom, first I flash CWM with odin, then custom rom with CWM. Do i have to do something else?
I'm asking these questions because I don't want to brick my phone on my first time flashing something.. I want to be sure.

Okay, thanks very much for your help!
if you want to be on stock then root first before flashing CWM as after flashing CWM you may not be able to root your phone.
If you want to flash custom rom then there's no need to root your phone.
Just boot into cwm wipe data
flash rom
again wipe data and then reboot
remember that wiping data is needed before and after the flashing process.
Ok, I'm going to flash CWM tomorrow
Thanks for help!
E: Succesfully installed CWM on my SGM!!
Enjoy and play more with your rom

I have a samsung galaxy tab p1000 tablet. It has froyo. Build version : FROYO.XWJJ7. I want to install cm-10.1-20130623-NIGHTLY-p1.zip.
I want to root it, install cwm, then do full wipe in cmw, then flash that zip I linked.
So my questions:
Can I root it with super1click? If I can't root it with that, then how can I root it?
When I rooted it. Can I use the cwm app from playstore to flash cwm? I read that it is better not to use that app to flash cwm for certain android phones/tablets. If I can't use the cwm app, then how can I flash cwm?
Is there anything special I have to care about? Like change bootloader or etc.
I need a simple step-by-step tutorial how to do these things. I don't want to brick my tablet.
Hi, have a rooted P990, did manage to install MIUI but wants Cyanogenmod. The only Cyanogenmod i can install is with the Progmaq-default-cm10 But i cant get into recovery after that install. If i use AIO and do a repartition and delete all then i can install CWM or TWR recovery, but i cant install ROM from any of them. TWR say that there isnt any OS on phone, CWM only goea back into recovery when reboot. Should i install the boot.img file on the phone, if yes, how do i do it?
What does CWM say after you installed a ROM, is there any error message?
Are you using old or new bootloader? Did you make sure to use a ROM that is suitable for your bootloader? You can use AIO to change the bootloader type.
