it's not an ICS
thks folks!
will be very nice for my miles!
big deal for milestone
what features do you expect from ICS?
i really don't get it
compatibility
i don't understand. compatibility with what?
compatibility with new applications designed for ICS
Time to bury the dream: http://www.anandtech.com/show/5181/cyanogenmod-9-should-support-most-cm7compatible-devices
While these newer chips will get early attention, Cyanogen said that support for most of the devices compatible with the Gingerbread-based CyanogenMod 7 would be forthcoming - he singled out Qualcomm's QSD8250 and the Google Nexus One as examples of what the team would be targeting on the low-end. Unfortunately for some, he also singled out the original Motorola Droid (which uses an older TI OMAP3430 and just 256MB of RAM) as a device which definitely wouldn't be supported, advising Droid owners that it is "time to upgrade."

From the beginning, Milestone users must knew that the CM9 won't get it... Small amount of RAM (with compare to other phones), maybe Milestone/Droid 2 will have a CM9
Zatapatalkowane z MotoStone'a
milestone doesn't have an official cyanogen rom, there only KANG's. It was already said that nadlabak will try to boot ICS on milestone, so will have to wait and we 'll see what we will get
ok, maybe he'll boot ICS on Milestone, but it will be fully functional? Do you want newest ROM with lags and restart? Or max 30MB free RAM and nothing more? At this time, I don't see ICS on milestone for today using
no, i don't. i think that cm7 with GB is max what we can get on milestone.
and as i've already said - i don't see any features of ICS that will make my phone better.
I fully agree with you. No CM7 at all,any ROM based on Android 2.3.7 it's enough for the stone

Maybe CM9 wouldn´t work on Milestone/Droid, but G1 runs with ICS too. It is laggy and slow but it works on phone with less RAM then Droid/Milestone.
main question is will it be usable on milestone?
g1 has unlocked bootloader and porting ics on it is a bit easier

What are the chances ICS will come to the BIONIC via an update?
How about custom roms, e.g., Cyanogenmod? I understand ICS is GPU accelerated... will it even be possible for ICS to be custom ported w/o (writing) hardware drivers for the graphics acceleration? At least before Motorola provides an update...

Well, its hard to say but ICS was written around OMAP processors and Moto Mobility will soon be ran by Google so its a good chance we will see it on the Bionic hopefully.
We just have to pray that Google open-sources ICS unlike Honeycomb. If not, i forsee CM branching off into its own Distro for future builds kind of Linux has done on desktop computers.

Schmidt already said ICS will be open-sourced, so no worries there. As for custom ROMs, I saw an alpha version of CM7 being worked on & UNL3ASH3D is great right now in its infancy. I say no worries...
hello all,
i have recently bought a nexus one and wondering wht i should flash? I like sense but they appearantly are all very slow. I hate miui. I like cm7 but hate its ui. What should i flash?
Sense !
I'm using the lastest sebastiaan's ROM , witha class 10 and it's perfect, the A2SD is AWESOME , no lag in game
If you have a class 10 , install now the seb's ROM , but the dowloading is very long (50 min )
Thanks
PS : you must install 4ext recovery , to use the touch installer !!!!
Depends what you like/use your phone for? I wanted ICS so I went with TexasICS, looks very nice but still has some bugs.
You should wait for stable ICS

The current Cyanogenmod 7.1 is a good choice and fairly stable.

Do apps like whatsapp, angry birds (ftw!) facebook etc. stilll work on ics? I use them very often. Also is ics its gui more user friendly then gingerbread?

Same here, I hate cm7's ADW stuff they use. Stock gingerbread UI is much better compared to ADW.
You can go with BuglessBeast which is mostly stock gingerbread with few additions like over clocking support.
If you want to stay bleeding edge then install MeDroid or TexasIce ICS ROMs. They both have camera and gallery issues, missing hardware acceleration and calendar sync issue.

In my opinion the GUI is nicer in ICS, but it is not yet stable enough for full time use. I haven't tried games like Angry Birds yet, but I suspect they wouldn't run well, because graphics aren't properly fixed in the port yet.
First of all ROM basically is ur choice how u wanna use ur phone.
As u said that u already used miui, y bothering trying any other ROM? It's fast stable and good looking ...
On the other hand sense ROM is also good but u always have the processing issues unless u have a high class SD card.
Bugles beast is a nice suggestion for u to use gingerbread UI with smooth and minimal usage...
PS: since I've started using miui I've not thought about any other ROM
Sent from my Nexus WON on MIUI ;-)
I've practically tried all the ROMs on here, from MIUI to Sense and I've got a few things to say.
MIUI looks like iOS in many ways, but is VERY themable. There are themes for almost anything.
CM7 (mainly samuaz's build) is a very fast and stable ROM. It basically displays the stock android experience with a minimal UI. Highly themable.
Sense: HTC's firmware now ported to the Nexus One. Features a stunning and hefty UI that takes a lot of resources. I've tried all builds here, but mainly Runny AIO and I have to say that's the best build. I love Sense. It is not really recommended to run Sense if you have a class 2 SD card like I do, but I'll upgrade it for a class 6 one tomorrow.
Ice Cream Sandwich/Cyanogenmod 9. Very hyped, but with all rights to it. ICS and/or CM9 are totally awesome ROMs and well worth trying out, despite their flaws. Even with no real hardware acceleration, they're awesome. Use texasice's version if you want near-stock ICS experience with a pinch of evervolv tweaks and use samuaz's build if you want a Cyanogenmod 9 experience. Sometime this year, we'll get an official CM9 build from the Cyanogenmod team, but texasice and samuaz have done an amazing job with porting ICS to us.
Other AOSP builds. These builds also kind of displays the stock android experience, but with user added features and frameworks. Some are based partly on Cyanogenmod 7 while others are based on something else. Bugless Beast and OxygeN1mod are among the best in this category.
You're free to choose what ROM suits you best, but my vote goes to Runny AIO or any of the two ICS builds.
Cheers.

It doesn't unfortunately. I haven't tried to install DT's A2SD on it because as far as I know the kernel used in Bugless doesn't have ext4 support. I might be wrong though ..
Great review Theshawty
Hv been using ch33ky's oxygeN1mod for about a month. Its really good. Thinking of trying samuaz's cm7.2 biuld for a change sometime soon

btw >> HIT THE THANK YOU <<<
You should try also the Ics MeDroid rom, it's really good, with just few bugs and it's quite smooth.
+1 for MeDroid alpha that's actually very stable
Or CM7.x if you want "stable"

Alternative to Enoms Rom
I am still running Enoms Rom on my N1. This is the most stable and battery effecient Rom I have tried. The problem is that its quite old (Froyo). I was thinking of going to ICS but the stability just isnt there yet. I am thinking of going to Gingerbread instead. Can someone here recommend a good Gingerbread Rom similar to Enoms? I am mainly looking for 720p HTC camera, trackball wake and led notification. Stability and battery life are important as well.

Me either, and i can't see that ever changing. It really is the best of all worlds. It's unbelievably smooth, stable and pretty as hell. Core apps are vast improvements over that which are found in other ROMs.
By any way is it possible that LG will upgrade it to JB, or is possible for xda developers to upgrade current stock ICS to JB?

CM10.x is JB...
LG's junk isn't needed and therefore it isn't even worth asking/waiting for. We finally got all we wanted from them, now enjoy CM10.
I think the best way for us is using CM10 ROM, such as in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2058231
Just a tip. When you're upgrading to CM10 you should have installed CM7 at some earlier point. Easy fix for the SD card bug. Took me half a day to find this out.
Plus use new ICS bootloader, it fix slow charge and minimize call bug

Well if we didn't have "LG's junk" RC wouldn't have been able to build CM10 as it is now
All you need to build a perfectly good JB ROM without any JB update are device-specific ICS source code and an unlocked bootloader. JB and ICS are still very much the same under the hood, much like the case with Froyo and GB. Back in those days you could also build GB ROMs out of Froyo sources I believe (the O2X got CM7 quite some time before its official GB update arrived).
CM10 is as good as JB can get on our device. I believe the only JB-specific feature we don't have is true vsync, aka no Project Butter, but that's not a deal breaker as it's hardly noticeable.
If you look at recent news, no OEM wants to bring JB to a 512 MB RAM device because their stupid skins like Sense/Touchwiz/LG UI eat up so much memory that allocating more for vsync would make performance atrocious. The only exception is the Nexus S simply because it doesn't have that bloat to deal with.
My problem is with CM10 I can not have 3G calls, FM radio, Polaris office etc.

better than any stock rom
Is it possible to have an GB Miui on our device? I know, there are some beta, alpha ICS Miuis, but on GB, we might have functional camera and other things. Im not developer, at least for now, but I love to see this if its possible. Some time ago I have Milestone 2 and Miui 2.3.7 (Port from will5 taken from Wajkui). I hope this discussion isn´t pointless. Thank you for reply..
Should be really nice.

CM Miui merged
There is an avatar rom for droid 3. It is actually CM based with the feature to use MIUI skins.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2207380&page=2
Not that I want (fast, lite, effective battery management),know about this one but thanks anyway =). Still waiting for some GB or real Miui ICS port will be good too, but I dont find any working link. And maybe it will be better now on new kexec kernel. Someone, anyone =D please make a port. Maybe its bad idea but is it possible to have Froyo on kexec? =D Maybe I was wrong, Im not such as educated about kernels and it only work for newer android than GB.
Update
Get CM7 working on Solana (XT862), safestrap 3.05, time to bring some MIUI love =)). Since I´m not a real Dev do not expect some miracles. And now I´m going to try to port some MIUI GB to our device.
18:14 update: Ok I have successfully ported some CM7 MIUI (based on GB) hybrid, but Its suffer from nonfunctional camera and internal or sd card not mounted right, but I can access it from total commander, Its in strange folder. I must do some research.
Hello guys
Is there any rumor that we will ge JB official from LG
A lot of people will say for me we have unofficial ones suck as cm10.1 and others but in fact i tried them they are not so stable i downloaded v30b and according to my usage it's the best app can manage our OB
Fot that I'm asking this question
Sent from my LG-P970 using xda app-developers app
Not happening. Phone is too old and not popular enough for LG to bother supporting to that extent.
They said for a long time that ICS was coming to the OB, but that never happened where I live (Canada).
I've tried many ROM's from CM10, 10.1, Mackay, Marvell v11 (ICS), Zeus 7.06 and CiCi v3. IMO the OB runs best with a GB based ROM (like Zeus or CiCi). Very little to no bugs and phone runs much faster/smoother.

News to me. If LG/Koodo released the ICS update for where I live, then it was very recent (last few months).
My wife has the same phone, still stock/unrooted. I'll check on her's to see if the update is available.
