[Q] getting Flash to work better with browser? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've searched few hours for information how to speed up/get flash to work with samsung galaxy s but i did not find any info about it.
I can't access computer while im at work or not at home and i play crime city on google+ and its a flash game. When phone was unchanged the game loaded sometimes but then browser crashed.
I downloaded milkys mod and it did sort of worked, it was quite slow but at least i could play if im not in hurry Next mod i tested was F1 Innovation V14 but it was slower than milkys and the flash game did not work and browser crashed just like stock phone.
If someone has been playing around with flash or could tell me what mod might be better i would appreciate the info. My eyes are so tired of hours of reading posts Btw so far from browsers dolphin browser worked best with flash games.

Unfortunately my experience with flash and Galaxy S is also bad. Watching an online movie or a youtube video always creates unpleasant laggy/freeze/choppy video. This on stock roms. In CM7 flash works better... I dare to say way way better, Flash 10.x and Opera. Not Flash 11, as 11 freezes after a few minutes of use. But then again, CM7 has its limitations and I need 720p video recording.
Waiting for someone to englight us

I installed and tested teamhacksung's ICS Port for Galaxy S (BUILD 3) and tried crime city with it but flash is missing and the adobe one in market is not available so it wont work in that. Well it is in beta and i just think there is not enough power in samsung galaxy S for flash games. Maybe with a optimized mod you can get it to "work" but its just slow and a bit unstable.
I'm going to visit my friend and test that with his galaxy s 2 and see how much better does it work with it. And within a year or two smartphones are going to be so powerful everything should work.

Flash for ICS is not yet released from Adobe, but we may expect it in December as they have announced shortly.
Regarding the speed up of general flash performance, I think the only option is to overclock, I got some increase by OC to 1,3 Ghz, but don't expect to have a big flash game like for example Farmville or something running smoothly on your device with any configuration. I don't think that will be possible simply due to the lack of hardware power...

Is the new flash version better for you ? I bet not

[Q] Which Milestone ROM is the best?

According to the question I ask, I think I would like to standardize the "marking scheme"
1. Overall Performance
2. Boot up time
3. Battery Performance
4. Buggy?
5. Compatibility?
6. Internal memory after initial setup?
Thanks everybody! Just doing the research which one is the best.
I have used MIUI, CTM, etc... Want to get more information before I changed to another ROM.
I've only used Miui as I've never had any reason to change.
Overall Performance:
Seeing as it's BETA software, the performance all round is much, much better then stock.
Boot up time:
This isn't really an issue as I never turn my phone off. Unlikely computers phones are meant to be on 24/7 so boot time is moot in my eyes.
Battery Performance:
With every new kernel and update, I find my battery lasting that little bit longer. I can get around 1.5-2 days out of mine (as Miui has the option to turn off things / underclock).
Buggy:
For BETA software things break from time to time, although the things that do break aren't that important (Tether and the Theme Downloader mainly).
Compatibility:
What do you mean?
Internal memory after initial setup?
With a fair few apps I have ~30MB left.
cronos or iceandfire are the two best roms hands down...
Stock 2.2 is the best now imho
froyomod 2.4
I am using APAC (asia-pacific leak) since Friday, and it is absolutely brilliant - near perfect, I´d say.
By now you can also apply some themes, and the battery life is great!
The only problem I am personally having is that the app "LEDs Hack" doesn´t seem to be working at all anymore and I haven´t found anything else to turn of the Softkey-Backlights while in Dock Mode... once that is solved, I´d have the perfect ROM
Project elite
Used cyanogen for about 6 mo but alot of fc.went to sorcery for about a month, it looked great and performance was good but my cell reception was in the toilet. Now project elite since christmas and I have fallen in love with my droid again.they have the kernall clocked at 1100 ewhich will run warm after 1/2 hour so i clock to 900.status cool and stable plus you can eryn your browser as an iphone (which comes in handy for netflix)..keep that droid around it still keeps up or beats your friends phone....ps screw motorola for wanting to lock their bootloader.

It also works for me. I installed this "app2ext" and worked amazing. 6 HD games, 5 Normal Games, 30 Apps+ And i still have 80mb free !
The only thing i don't like is the fact that MIUI launcher doesn't have scrollable widgets compatibility .

CyanogenMod 6.1.2 is my choice, fast fixes for bugs and like MIUI, after installing a ton of apps (over 30 as well) I stil have over 80mb free.
I've been on stock Eclair most of the time and it of course bugged me a lot. Tried Froyomod 2.2 and had the fast battery drain issue, now I'm using FroyoMod 2.4 and seems to be *much* better now.
I'd like to see the stock 2.2, but...
The bset ROM I've yet tried has to be the APAC leak, the latest nandroid. Its incredible. Kicks Nexus ass, bigtyme !
1. Overall Performance : Incredible. There is no other way to explain this.
2. Boot up time : NOt much of an issue, but if ur still interested, its almost equivalent to other roms available.
3. Battery Performance : The best Ive yet seen after trying every mod available, excet shadowmod. It gives me 2.5 days till discharge. For the milestone, thats a colossal feat.
4. Buggy : Not at all. No bugs found yet. Been 2 weeks.
5. Compatibility : Everything runs. Without applying external updates, or software hacks.
6. Internal memory after initial setup : 158MB. But most of my apps are on SD, So i Still get about 102 MB free on my phone.
FroyoMod 2.4c & G.O.T 2.2.1
_ MIUI is good for me now!
Now i'm using Froyomod 2.4, but a brazilian guy Edgar Castro launched new shadowmod version based on gingerbread.
I will install today.
I would also say CM6 is the best in terms of performance. Just to add on (NOT MEANING TO TAKE OVER THIS THREAD, just a suggestion), could we add how much mb of ram is available after boot? (E.g you could use advanced task killer, or memory booster just to see how much is available (BEFORE KILLING APPS) )
Hmph. I guess I'll have to do a major cleanup
38MB after boot.

[Q] Which is my best option for having a good game device?

Hi guys, I recently got a brand new galaxy s (GT-I9000). My experience with this nice one is amazing, except when it comes down to gaming. For example when playing Blood & Glory it just lags like hell, but I have seen videos of other galaxy s on youtube playing the very same game smooth. So I was wondering what can I do about it. I thought that I could install voofoo lagfix, but it was my understanding that it isn't available for gingerbread 2.3.6 (I have a rooted I9000XWJVZ, and I didn't touch anything else). I also thought that you may know a rom that is especially suited for gaming.
I'm at your mercy, please help a poor fellow. Bye and Happy Christmas.
If you were looking for gaming device, I personally would recommend you XBOX or Playstation...
Thanks, but this doesn't help me (and I already have a 360). What I'm saying is that my galaxy s doesn't seem to be able to play game very well, some others do. So I just wanna know what can I do about it.
First of all, read the threads here, and look in General section as well.
You can start from widgets freezing/delete.
Don't use much widgets.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
Problem is that gingerbread has terrible memory management, it always tries to keep apps on memory, so when you're playing a game, your RAM changes depending on textures, etc. So the system sees more free RAM and starts an app which causes lags... yeah it's pretty stupid but you could try this:
Flash a custom kernel of your liking (I use semaphore and it's working well), and thunderbolt (it's a collection of scripts that enhance performance). Also you may want to flash a thunderbolt LMK add on (low memory killer), if you want best performance go for the 80MB LMK one, but you won't be able to multitask much. Actually you can change the LMK on the fly (with semaphore app) and that could be easier (flash at least the kernel and thunderbolt, the other thunderbolt add ons are optional)
Try to get some info on LMK, this thread is a good start:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18549017
Also I found Cyanogenmod to be ok at gaming but it's a battery hog, if you can tweak a samsung rom like I mentioned you could get good performance and battery life, even if it's a bit complicated at first.
If nothing of this satisfies you, you could go back to froyo, it's much better for gaming, really.
I think the best phone is Samsung Galaxy S2
Thank you parhelion69, I'll try and let you know. Man, tuning a device is much more complicated than expected...

Are you Happy With ICS?

So, ICS has been out for a while and people are getting it working on our phone quite well. Taking into consideration that most ICS ROMs aren't polished yet and most still have a few bugs to sort out, are you happy with it?
I'm not talking about what the devs here did to get it working on our phone (They are a bunch of little magicians, eh?), but what Google did creating it. I have tried a couple of ICS ROMs but I couldn't get it working properly on my SGS and went back to a stock Gingerbread ROM, so I am still not that aware of most of what ICS can do.
ICS is a big departure from Gingerbread and takes a bit of investigating to find where everything is, but that's part of the fun.
What would you change in ICS and what do you really like that wasn't there before, or has been improved?
I really like the Data Usage meter. It's a great tool for those who are always watching their monthly limits.
Ian
I enjoyed using ICS a lot, everything about it, from the look and feel of it to the smoothness and speed of the OS.
The only reason im back on GB is because of problems in the battery department, no matter what kernel I used, I had problems with the battery life.
Ill be definately making the switch once the roms mature more.
During last week I tried few ICS roms and finally I came back to GB JVU - SAUROM.
Last night i tested ICS CNA 1.4.0. It works quite well witch glitch kernel, but from my poiont of view it still not the same preformance what is in GB. I had some lags in app drawer. Settings menu was slow (with semaphore 0.8.1 very slow).
I overclocked to 1300 and it's improved performance but in AnTutu I reached 3008. In comparision to JVU Saurom it is over 400 less (in Saurom with Semaphore 2.5.0 my AnTutu results is 3480).
I like plays last "hi-end" games. I tried Modern Combat 2 under SAUROM and under CNA 1.4.0 (both overclocked to 1300Mhz) and under SAUROM JVU playing it's definitively better.
I'dont know what to do. I like ICS style, but I look for fast and stable system.
I'll join the question: how do you feel wit ics for SGS? and kind of ICS customs do you recommend for me?
Too bad we can't get the best Devs here to develop one version of ICS together. With all that firepower it should be no time before ICS ran perfect on the SGS.
I still don't understand why Samsung said they couldn't do ICS for the SGS when the Devs here can.
Ian
ics is smooth and a real eyecandy but actually i cant find a real lifechanging feature in it. was quite happy with 2.2, had unstable episode of stock kies 2.6 and endedup in aokp 2.1
ics works but im experiencing crazy bat drains from mediaserver and music playback on ics costs A LOT of battery
i guess i will flash 2.2 some day
Hello
I like the Slim version of ICS. I am currently using Slim 2.5 with the Semaphore_ICS_0.9.0 kernel.
With the CPU frequency set to 1100 (which is what I normally run) I get 3324* on the AnTuTu benchmark.
* 3335 + 3313= 3324 (average)
Note : One needs to be careful comparing AnTuTu scores using Semaphore_ICS_0.9.0 kernel. By this I mean that it is not necessarily a straight apples to apples comparison due to all the different kernel settings which are possible.
@+
I also use Slim with Semaphore kernel 0.9.0 and it has been an delight. ICS is so good that i would sell my phone if i had to go back to gb again Much of the bugs have been fixed by now, and really this custom roms are very stable. Onecosmio SGICS rc4.2 is also very good and polished. You could start with that one, also has great battery life in comparison with others.

I think its a bit laggy
but i might need another kernel? I don't know.
It looks good and there are a lot more options but i don't like the stock internet browser the one on gingerbread is great. Does exactly what i need it to and when you press the more button everything is in the right place.
Semaphore ICS 0.9.0 unable to get network
Flashed my T-mobile Samsung Galaxy S (I9000 using on wind mobile) to Semaphore ICS 0.9.0 and unable to get on wind network...have tried practically almost a lot of things including flashing other ICS roms, used the radios suggested in the forums but am unable to get it to work. Can someone suggest me the correct modem file to be flashed?
I'm loving ICS I'm using TeamICSSGS rom runs perfectly I find everything to work well and I've ended up getting between 2-3days on battery depending on how I use it.
I have no clue what Samsung was every on about saying the Galaxy S will never get ICS well whats running pretty good on my Galaxy S then
I think it works great. I love the way ICS looks and feel and also the fact that my SGS its a bit different from most sgs's out there.
battery is still problematic but since being a heavy user I carry a charger where ever I go anyway.
bottom line... Love it

Few posts ago I wrote that I came back to GB. I was not happy with ICS becouse of many resons, but now I have to change my mind - RC4.2 runs great. I have one small issue with Gmail app (does not work) but I think that something could be wrong during installation becouse other users don't report this error. I have to reflash RC4.2 and test it again.
I like ics very much. The design, speed...but i hate is battery drain. When i had 2.3.6 I could be on phone 12 hours straight till 0% (massive gaming over 3g or wifi) it was great. But with ics max i get is 4 hours non stop...thats sad...I tryed everything from millions of battery apps to kernels to voltage and dont remember how many guides on utube/xda/android forums about it...
When that will be fixed im back to it, till than Ill be on stable 2.3.6 gaming

You have an unusual phone .... or battery. Since I bought my SGS I have to charge it every night. My best achievement was 24 hours (becouse I fell asleep and forgot to connect charger)
Ics feedback
from my exp dark knight 2.1 (4.0.4) is best more stable giving maximum battery life...ics is userfriendly, more smooth and more stable...
the only problem is battery life but it will not effects me more bcz i only use internet for mails and sometimes music plus it gives me 24 hour battery back up(gps off, wifi usage moderate, data plan always on)
I only have a few gripes about ICS (THICSSGS 4.0.3)
- The dialer is not idiot proof enough for me, I keep making unwanted calls.
- For some reason my photos keep showing up in duplicate or triplicate. Kind of pain since I use the camera for work and when I delete the duplicates they appear again the next day.
- Sound volume is to quite overall.
- Can't make an appointment in calendar without an Gmail or similar account to sync to.
- Did I mention the SOUND IS TOO QUITE?
Other than these few things the move to ICS has been a good one. Last week I got nearly 4 days on a single charge but its averaging out to 2 days now. With GB 2 days was pushing it.

question to heavy-music-users:
1. do you experience high cpu usage on mediaserver?
2. any issues with screen off wifi connection used by interney radios or shoutcast? in my case winamp pauses every 20-30 seconds
Comparing ICS to Gingerbread, ICS wins in every single aspect for me, except for the ability of Samsung roms to play a wide range of media formats. ICS is faster, more ram-efficient, looks better and runs games more smoothly than Gingerbread.
However, I was previously on Froyo 2.2.1 ZSJPK before using ICS, because I preferred Froyo to Gingerbread. So, comparing ICS to Froyo, there are several things that ICS loses out to Froyo. To name a few, Froyo has way more free ram, hence better multitasking. On Froyo, I can have the browser running a desktop version of facebook as well as NOVA 2 running in the background, without either being closed. But on ICS, it's hard to even run Angry Birds and Contacts at the same time due to the fact that on average, there is only about 60Mb of free space.
Hence, ICS wins in all ways except multitasking, but that is due to the Galaxy S' limitations, not the actual ICS itself.
i had all time the Goa Rom on my SGS i9000 and now two weeks the ICS open kang Projekt and i was happy i find it is so much better we gingerbread the speed is very well
the apks open so fast it works very good for me
greetz nobody
Been using ics since Dec. Very happy with it and won't go back to gingerbread.

[Q] Galaxy Note: The amount of its laggyness?

Hello Fellow Members,
Okay I have been reading a lot of complaints about the Note being laggy and frankly even I came across a couple of Galaxy Notes at two different malls/stores on display and they both lagged like anything. Although the lag was for just a couple of seconds but it was very frustrating. I noticed the lag throughout in the OS, right from swiping the home screens to scrolling in the settings or scrolling the browsing or while opening the apps. (Any app). And it became even more frustrating to see a previous model (Galaxy s2) working as smooth as melting butter. I operated them side by side and, man the difference was noticeable, seriously NOTICEABLE. I was soooooooooo disappointed. I had the cash with me but I was just not willing to believe, such a high spec’d phone would lag . And eventually I came from the store without purchasing one .
I have read on XDA forums also where many G-Note users have complained about their experiences of Galaxy Note being laggy. Hence, I would “request” you all to please make short videos of your galaxy Notes, upload on youtube and share the link with us here, so that someone who wants to buy a NOTE would see the amount of laggyness of the phone and then decide, whether this lag is acceptable or inacceptable for him/them. Please show the scrolling on contacts, S-pen notes, swiping between home screens, scrolling the browser etc.
Please guys, come forward and do so, as I youtubed a lot but couldn’t find videos showing the laggyness of Note. All videos are filled with how smooth and fast the NOTE is. And seeing that, I went to purchase one but….
P.S: Rooting isn’t an option for me as this will void the warranty and I don’t want to void my warranty. Hence no rooting
Also, people say that ICS will solve the issue. I have seen on other phones that initially it does make the device faster but with daily usage, it becomes same as it used to be with the previous version of OS.
Rooting will void your warranty but but if done in correct way you can unroot and get it back.
Older firmware were slow and laggy but LC1 and LC2 are smooth.
Have you tried V6 SuperCharger or ThunderBolt scripts before ? You'll need root though.
These littile thing inject steroids in your phone.
Wait wait wait wait.
You have used such difficult Jargons of Andriod world that I am just not able to catch you up .
Okay, as you have mentioned, V6 SuperCharger or ThunderBolt scripts will require Rooting my device (although I have no idea what are V6 SuperCharger or ThunderBolt scripts), but tell me these LC1 and LC2 are firmware updates, right? And they can be updated "without" rooting the device. Isn't it?
And this update will make G-Note blazing fast, like s2?
Guys, please respond and help.

Dont compare Note and S2. The same processor and same GPU in S2 powers a smaller screen with less pixels and less DPI. Here in Note you have the same processor and GPU power a huge HD screen with the best DPI in business. Also all the apps are built on hdpi resolution while the note is xhdpi resolution so the apps and launchers tend to get laggy. Also there is no hardware acceleration supported in much apps. I am using ICS Stunner and using it on 240 dpi which is hdpi resolution and its silk smooth. Butter!
And i dont have time to make videos. So if you can then take my word. If not then each one to his own
Cheers!! Enjoy your Note!!
You don't need to be rooted to update firmware.
Use pc odin or built-in OTA (Over The Air - Phone updates itself using 3G/WiFi) update feature.
update to the latest stock firmware released in 2012.....should b much smoother. But we're all waiting for ics which should be out very soon.
advice: go bak to the shop......remove all widgets on homescreen and/or change wallpaper to static nd try. I have noticed that some live wallpapers and widgets cause lagginess. I usually remove everythng from the homescreen and start adding them 1 by 1 and checkng.....one widget sometimes is the culprit.
Ics should smooth everythng as some have reported.
Owned a Note and 7.7
7.7 slightly slower than Nexus, Note is laggy, esp when not turned off for days.

I am not saying it should run games which require excellent acceleration or requires immense power from GPU, as I am not into heavy mobile games. All I require is butter smooth execution of day-to-day usage. Be it scrolling contact, scrolling web page, swiping through 10 application screens or swiping 7 home screens.

Your response is somewhat relieving I must tell you. But the comment under your post is disturbing . I mean I want a butter smooth tock ROM device and after paying $607 for G-Note, I don’t want to regret and speed it a “very” essential part of my checklist of a smart phone.

I never specifically told about games. To have everything buttery smooth u require hardware acceleration which gpu provides in the apps browser and launchers. So gpu is not just for games. Now you got why i told you all that above. To have everything running smooth on such big screen and resolution u require hardware acceleration. Ever noticed lag in all third party launchers? Its becoz they don't have hardware acceleration. The stock TW launcher is partially hw accelerated so still runs somewhat smooth.
The original dpi of Note is 321
BOOMED from my BOMBASTIC NOTE
Tbh you can't really blame the note for being a tad laggy since it is basically a computer and all computers ( even the best) will come across a type of lag within its lifetime.

Well then that sucks
here is a tip to the op.. You will find 99% of all problems you look for.. If you didnt look, you would not know there are problems.
The key to happiness in life is being happy with what you have and setting your expectations ot a reasonable level..
If you dont need the large screen, go buy something else. If you do need the large screen, then you have no choice but the note..
so either relax and enjoy your note or be paranoid about this and every other device on the planet, and buy every new device as it comes out and drive yourself into a frenzy of despair about this problem, that problem, this issue that issue until you realise all this agony and money has not fixed a single thing in your life, you are stressed, depressed and you end up a bankrupt nuerotic..

This device has NOTHING bad in it.. Just the LAG LAG LAG!
Nice post though! Loved it.
I am using stock GB and I have almost no lag. Maybe you should make a video and show us what lag you are talking about.
I am using stock rom (gingerbread) at the moment and experience none of the lag you refer to. I also tried some of the ics roms and also no lag.
The only time my phone 'hesitates' is sometimes when I unlock it as it switches from widget locker to lock screen. Now as it is a 3rd party app doing it, I can hardly blame the note. I love my note and even got rid of my galaxy nexus and asus tf101 when i got the note.

All I can think is, Gingerbread is just far inferior to ICS or Honeycomb. Nokia Lumia is a lot faster too (hope that word is not banned here)
Then again, some items images/video captured in 7.7 is only 3.2mp vs 8mp.

LG Official ICS is a disaster

Updated to ICS using LG Update tool...now ready to bin my phone. Gee I was really stupid and just assumed that an official rom from LG would (a) work better than previous GB and (b) add new features rather than take away features. So far:
a) HDMI out not working
b) exchange active sync not working
c) no way to turn off camera shutter
d) LG UI laggy and slow
e) no real improvements in photo, video or music quality.
without the ability to sync to my work emails this phone is next to useless for me...
How has everyone's experience been? any of the above??
Being a newbie at flashing roms and the likeI assume I can get back to stock GB somehow ?
Yes it's awful extremely slow and buggy. Now since they have released it it might even be low priority to solve bugs....
You can revert to GB.
Use smart flash and a smart flash copy of the GB firmware.
Here you can find the stock firmwares V10 (froyo) V20(GB)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1035041
And here is how to flash it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1008070
just put the file with AP in the name where it says AP and CP where it says CP.
Might need to try to flash a few times if it fails. Or do it with the battery inside after the software update mode have been activated.
Good Luck
No problems here
Yes it's pretty bad. I found GB to be bad too though.
It took the Devs here to do LG's job for them and make GB good and they will do the same for ICS too I am sure
Yes, you can go back to stock GB but you will need to do a bit of research, like how to use Nvflash and/or smartflash. There are guides around if you do some searching.
Disaster is a compliment. It's slow, laggy, buggy... It's amazing they took so long to ruin an OS.

I had the same opinions with stock ROMs on several other lower-midrange non-Nexus devices. HTC Sense was a performance killer on my old Desire Z and Touchwiz also made my friend's GS2 lag at times. On the newer superphones like the GS3 and HTC One X these skins don't cause any lag, but they don't deserve to exist on weaker models.
LG should have known better than to overlay that s**t on ICS with only 512 MB RAM... how hard is it to give us vanilla android? They did it for the T-Mobile G2X in the states (froyo).

I'm in your Opinion. I went to V30a because with CM10 i got often BSODs and on CM10 is a very high battery drain... But CM10 was much faster and smoother Hope the Problems in CM10 get fixed.

Devs have already made what is to be made from ICS. There isn't much more into it than what has already been done. Only thing that is being awaited now is official source codes so the developing of CM10 & CM10.1 truly can show its colors
I disagree.
It's not any worse than any of the GB ROMs. I don't really imagine, what you're doing with the device on a daily basis, except of testing absolutely all of the functions (e.g. HDMI out - I bet more than 50% of people never use it), and launching all apps or scrolling rapidly to just check "smoothness".
I'm pretty use we'll get the small things you mentioned fixed with custom ROMs based on this ICS release.

there you go... the fact that people have to resort to custom ROMs to get acceptable performance says a lot, right?
While I'd never use a stock ROM, I'd expect it to be smooth and responsive at the very least without bogging down from the smallest tasks like having 3 browser tabs open with music playing and whatsapp in the background.

As for me, the best stock ROM I ever had on this phone:
a) Don't have a solution here unfortunately...
b) Try Nitrodesk Touchdown app, works like a charm with a lot of additional useful functions than the built-in email app? PM if you need the app
c) Seems like silent mode can be a solution (though not practical to change mode everytime you want to use the camera)?
d) No such thing on my phone, fastest LG stock ROM ever on my phone.
e) I was already ok with the quality: it's a phone, not a camera. Photos it makes are not really good I agree (I regret my Xperia X10i for that!!), but I don't expect miracles from it. Maybe another app can do better, but I don't know any...
Finally, battery drain is very correct, much more than with GB for me (see pictures attached).
So I can't agree with you, this ICS stock ROM is much better than any other LG stock ROM. I come from DJ1.7.1 which is an excellent ROM, and still, I will keep using ICS, waiting for the developers' magic!
HDMI out is working btw...What are u talking about;
720p only but other than that works properly.
Have not tried HDMI yet.
It is waay faster then GB in all apps. Had reverted to V20Q before V30A (to check official update and there was not any in my locale). And honestly, GB was mighty slow compared to ICS. (And I found V20Q faster than 90% of ROMs here, Django - recommended to me as faster - looks hideous. Even if it was faster, I would not be able to use for it looked like something from 1999. And those animations, no matter if were faster to render, were waay too slow)
Stock GB also has terrible problem with screen tearing.
CM7 was fine, but was pretty much the same in terms of speed. (And I really do not overclock/ramhack my phone, for it decreases stability dramatically - after 50mins of calling at 13xxMHz, you fire up browser and it crashes for overheat...)
ICS (stock) on the other hand is faster than GB at stock speed.
And CM10 is faster than ICS (stock).
So there is that.
I mean, in stock ICS I still wait instant/1,5 secs for phone app to start. But it is better than GB - 3 secs. And it is worse than CM10 instant/0.6secs.
All that said, LG is terrible software maintainer, but P990 has only 512MB of RAM (with 128 MB alocated to GeForce ULV). Therefore I am not that suprised.
And do not use any memkillers or other stuff. Basically to do all this app provides, just set the limit for background apps. That said... if you are using e.g. Talk, SMS, Phone, Browser constantly plus some other apps (like InternetBanking app or GDrive, Maps) it might be better for your experience and battery to just let it as it is on default. It works better when they are in RAM.
Lovin' It - Stop complaining
I completly disagree - it may be a bit late but there is no reason to be pessimistic about it.
a) It does work - I just tested it on my TV. There is no options for it in the settings anymore though, but it runs at 1280x720 anyway. (I know 1080 was the highest)
b) I don't use it, so can't comment there.
c) Yes there is - I use Llama and my silent profile shut the shutter up. So its either notification or media volume.
d) No, its not. Maybe for the first minute of boot before you kill some programs, but other than that fastest UI so far, even though I still installed GO Launcher.
e) Haven't tested, but is 1080p recording in 30fps now? If not, this is from ICS changelog for O2X and other phones (LGSingapore):
adding bitrate video recording (720p only 7Mbps who first kept so 9Mbps, which first 1080p 16mbps 10mbps now), fixesbug camera (focus, time capture, white balance)

So it must be a bit better now.
If you really want to complain, here is the un-edited version of the predicted changelog from the Singapore comment, have fun:

gesture, plus a look underneath, and face unlock), quick memo (write on your screen wherever you want ), new gallery ics, new notification, task manager ics , 4

err..excuse me but I have been using the 'new features' of the ics rom for 24hrs now and I can verify that (1) HDMI is not working (whereas GB rom was working) and (2) ms active sync is not working and I have not been able to retrieve emails since installing ICS (and I was definitely getting them before ) .
I appreciate this may not be the same for everyone -
The point of this post was to share my experiences with the new rom and hopefully get some advice or solutions from others who may have been through the same problems ...isn't that what these forums are for ..
PS: flashed back to GB rom and all working ok again...obviously something about my phone and v30 that didnt get along !
ICS OFFICIAL ROM Runs very well for me. Smooth enough... and the battery life is very good.
