Problem with Voicemail - HD7 General

I have a Mango HD7 but using Simple Mobile (variation of T-mobile, uses all of the TMO towers and coverage areas). The problem is that when i hit my voicemail button, i SKIPPED instead of continued with the setup. When I went back to voicemail, I was asked if I had a voicemail account, if so, enter phone number...keep getting an error "That is not a valid mailbox".
I tried this with my old TMO phone number, and with the new Simple Mobile phone number. There isn't any way for me to check the voicemail or get back to the "first boot" screen for the voicemail.

try calling 611 (customer service) from your cell

Question about Visual Voicemail

So let's say I want to actually set this thing up for Visual Voicemail. An AT&T Rep that I talked to said that it requires Data to Function. So I guess my question would be would VV Work with Wi-Fi Only or does it have to be connected to the Actual Data Network that I always have turned off considering I can't afford more than the $15 plan for data.
Should still function. Your VM would just be left on the network until you get data service back, and then you'd get the notification. Kind of like when you receive a text message and have no reception. You get the message once you're back in service.
Don't quote me on that though. Just thinking logically.
Visual Voicemail only works with network data and not wifi. If you keep your network data off, you won't see it in the application until you turn network data on.
A nice free way to have visual voicemail is to setup a google voice account.
Have it link to your existing number, and set your phone up to use the voicemail service.

[Q] How do you access voicemail with Straight Talk? I can't even set it up!

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note (International version) Android phone. I got my ST SIM card about 2 days ago and voice, SMS, MMS and data all works just fine.
Problem is, I can't access or even setup my normal voicemail. According to ST, I need to dial * 8 6 to access my voice mail and set it up. When I did, I got a message:
Your call cannot be completed. Please check the number and dial again
What number exactly do I need to call to access my VM from my Note?
When I called my cell from a landline and attempt to leave a VM, the message is that "The subscriber has not setup the mailbox."
Please advise.
Go to the dialer pad and then press & hold the 1 key.

I think I may have find a solution ot my problem.
So just to recap the original issue:
- I got my ST SIM card just 3 days ago
- Voicemail testing was done in my office
- With the ST SIM card in my Galaxy Note, keypad "1" is pre-programmed to dial +16192040806
- Whether I call the number directly OR press and hold keypad "1", the only message I got is "Goodbye" and the call ended
Just yesterday, I drove for lunch, which is about 1 mile away from my office and I try to call the VM again and this time it works. I can setup my VM, enter my password, etc. Tried to call again and I got into my VM successfully.
Back to my office, I press and hold "1" again, but this time, instead of connecting directly to my VM, I got a message "Please enter your mailbox".
So it looks like, in my office, I am connecting to a cell tower that, SOMEHOW, screw up my VM. But if I am connecting to another tower, it works just fine.
I will test this theory by downloading an app called Open Signal, which show which tower I am connecting to at a certain location.
Straight Talk voicemail - Enter your mailbox number...
I found that holding down the '1' key on keypad doesn't always work. In fact, rarely. :fingers-crossed:
My solution seems to be to call my own number from my Galaxy Note 2.
Then it doesn't even prompt me for a pin or anything. :cyclops:
Good luck. :highfive:

[Q] Problems unlocking Galaxy Note 3

I just purchased a Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N900A), full-price, off-contract, from AT&T Wireless. I used an existing GoPhone (prepaid) account/phone number to activate the phone. The phone works (voice calls) with the AT&T SIM. However, I want to use the phone/device on aioWireless. I have a microSIM for aio. I have purchased an unlock code and followed the unlock instructions. I received a "Successful unlock" message after entering the 8 digit network code. However, I cannot make phone calls (or use the data plan) when the aioWireless SIM is installed. When dialing a number with the aio SIM, I get a recorded message that the service has been deactivated, and to contact AT&T.
When I try to verify whether the phone has truly been unlocked by typing *#SIMLOCK# nothing happens. If I then push the CALL button, I then get the message: Connection problem or invalid MMI code.
Any clues what is going on?

Do you maybe have to use different APN settings for the two networks?

I have no idea.
I would look up the APN settings for AIO and input those (Settings>Connections>More networks>Mobile networks>Access Point Names)
You could always just call AIO customer service or walk into a store and they should be able to help you out.

I thought APN is just for data and has nothing to do with his inability to place calls! especially that he is getting" service deactivated"
I would check the AIO account if its working first.

APN is indeed simply meant for DATA and MMS
Your phone is functional with TEXT message and CALL's WITHOUT even a single APN setting set up
The main problem here is compatibility. OR the SIM card
SOMETIMES you have to leave the sim card inside your phone for at least 5- 10 minutes
At one time it took me 20 minutes for a sim card to be recognized, then I got 4G
It depends on the network.
But if all fails, just call your new network and try to get a new sim card
As long as your phone is fully compatible, and you know it, there are ways around it.
Hope this helped!:good:
The *#SIMLOCK# and various variants of it no longer works starting from the GALAXY S3 and Above (Not even all S2's accept this code)

Verizon Moto X on T-Mobile - Visual Voicemail Issue

I am using the Verizon variant of the Moto X on T-Mobile and cannot get any visual VM services to work- I have tried YouMail and GV, and tried to manually set up both and I get an error that states "call forwarding cannot be set up while roaming"
I am sitting smack dab in the middle of Tmo LTE. Is there a way to by pass that. No matter what I try all voice mails are just stuck at the carrier.
Thoughts?
Thanks
If I insert a friends sim card, and link my GV acct, can I put sim in and link still, or will his number be stuck to GV?
Have you updated to 4.4.4?
Pre 4.4.4 the Verizon version didn't work well with GSM.
I have the same phone with 4.4.4 and downloaded the T-mobile visual voice mail app from Google Play and everything works fine. I'm not familiar with a Google Voice setup but my visual voice mail works with my t-mobile number.
Verizon seems to have blocked Google Voice on the XT1060. I tried setting it up and it wouldn't work on either a T-Mobile SIM or Verizon SIM. They're forcing you to use Verizon Visual VM, but I'm not sure what exactly is causing it. With a Verizon SIM, the error message is different. It basically says that the phone can't be setup for GV.
There are Verizon permissions in system related directories, so that's probably how.
No idea what I did, but we went camping this weekend and I was roaming most of the time, didnt make any calls or anything.
However I did miss a call today and sure enough, I received the VM on google voice. All is right in the world now, no idea how i fixed it though.

Signal drop upon placing call - XT1095 on H2O

I recently changed to H2O, which is an AT&T reseller for those who are unfamiliar, and I'm having a very peculiar problem.
When I go to make a call, as soon as I tap the green button to make the call, sometimes my signal drops to 0 bars and I can't make the call. Sometimes this happens repeatedly and it's impossible to call anyone. But sometimes the call will go through after the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th try. However, sometimes it drops to emergency calls only after the call fails, or sometimes it drops to no service.
Additionally, when I go to change the conditional call forwarding under dialer - settings - calls - call forwarding, as soon as I tap call forwarding, the signal bars vanish and I get a call settings error. This happens almost all of the time. And again, sometimes it will drop to emergency calls only, or a several times I've had it drop to no service.
When I give up trying to make a call or change call forwarding settings, the signal strength will return after a minute or so, which is currently fluxuating around -112 dBm 28 asu, -116 dBm 24 asu, 110 dBm 30 asu. Not sure what any of that means though.
Frequently, incoming calls do not reach my phone. Often I'll get a text message asking me why I'm not answering my phone, but it never rang. There's no indication that my phone was out of service as there is always at least one bar.
I can send text messages with no problem at all. My data also works just fine. In fact, one of my friends gave up calling my phone number and instead calls me on WhatsApp because that's the only way he can get a hold of me. He would call my number, have it fail, and then immediately call me on WhatsApp and that goes through because my data doesn't usually have any issues.
I've tried changing APN settings according to different information I got from H2O. I've tried changing the preferred network type to 3G and 2G. Changing to 2G seems to help my ability to make calls, or maybe it just seemed that way. I've contacted H2O numerous times about it. They opened multiple tickets on it and finally said that there's no problem on their end getting service on that sim card. I sorta verified this because the sim card doesn't display this problem in my 1st gen Moto X, an XT1053.
Two other people in my house are on the AT&T network, one on Cricket with a Galaxy S6 (G920AZ), and one on H2O with a Galaxy S3 (T999) and they never have any issues here at home or elsewhere.
My phone is an XT1095 pure edition. I run stock 6.0, 24.11.18.victara_tmo.tmo.en.US, kernel 3.4.42-g389e46b, rooted, TWRP, with no apps that modify call behavior except Google Voice which is set to never use GV to make calls. This phone worked flawlessly on several different T-Mobile resellers. I'm about to switch back to another T-Mobile reseller but I thought I'd post here about this strange issue first because I don't want to always be limited to the T-Mobile network.
Any advice or input is greatly appreciated.
