[Q] lg revolution bricked - LG Revolution

I just flashed the revolt rom onto it. it gets to the boot screen and freezes after the animation. then the screen goes black and does nothing. is there anything i can do?

When booting up hold the volume down (or up... I forget which one) and power button and it should boot up to cwm. Had the same scare happen to me and was relieved to find this simple solution.
It will say do u want to erase all data. Say yes and then it will just boot up into cwm and will not erase any data.

just tried holding the volume both up and down several times and no change. still just freezes then goes black.

Make sure u hold the power button and volume up or down. When u see the lg logo press and hold em down for a while don't let go. It should go into recovery.

You have to keep holding pwr & dwn for 7-12 seconds till it reach the data wipe screen then hit pwr 2x to go into cwm
Then do a data wipe and that should fix that problem

Are on froyo or gb when you flash revolt?
Don't flash revolt if you on gb and don't flash gingervolt if you're on froyo it'll break your phone
BLITZ Bulletproof ledded AWD SuperCharged GV + Nitro ;p

Yeah, if he just got the phone I'm guessing he flashed Revolt over GB. GingerVolt = good. Voltbread = bad hehe.
Make sure you start pressing / holding down the volume down button the entire time. When you power on the phone, press both buttons simultaneously and don't let go until you see the recovery screen.
It's actually pretty difficult to permabrick the revo. If a data wipe doesn't fix it, there's always LGNPST. There's posts explaining how to use that, but feel free to get on IRC if you want some help. We've got a fun little motley crew on there pretty consistently and we're always happy to help.
Well, unless we're drunk or mt is doing a webcam show, then you'll have to wait a bit.

Any fix for no power button menu?
I'm having the same issue as nate360. My power button works for locking/waking up the screen, but doesn't do anything on a long press. No menu, no reset, nothing. I have to do a battery pull to turn off the phone!
3-button recovery works, but get this--the power button does not work in samsung recovery but does work in CWM recovery.
Did reflashing help? I've gotten my kernel and modem just how I want them, so I was hoping for a different fix.

Tried to take pictures with the power button. They work, but doesn't fix the power button. I love the ROM, and did not have this issue on 5.6 before upgrading. Thanks for any help
Update! In my frustration, i just took like 50 photos and videos using various combinations of power button and on screen capture button, and my power button menu is back! Hope it works for others. Thanks Mike!
It's fixed go and update to 5.8 silly bugs
I tried Serendipity 5.7 to 5.8 which was supposed to be a fix for the extended menu and i have not been able to install it successfully.
Getting "assert failed getprop ro.build.display.id" etc error.
Can someone help what I am doing wrong....

Whatever it says in About Phone, you have to start from that version and work your way up.

Theme issues

With both GingerFusion and DreadGinger I seem to have the issue that when I turn my screen off or it shuts off on its own after being idle the lights on the 4 Soft Keys stay on and take an extra few seconds to turn off, which wouldn't be a big deal by if that was all, but once they turn off they keep flicking on and off every few seconds (like every 5 to 10 seconds) which is hella annoying. Anyone else experience this and if so is there a fix. Or does anyone have any ideas on How to fix it. I have tried wiping cache and dalvik cache as well as re-flashing the themes all to no avail. So if someone could help me fix it. I would really appreciate it. I hella dig these themes and would like to use them. But that flickering on and off repeatedly is straight up annoying.

2 ways you can fix it. Either hold your phone up to a light source (computer monitor or other light source).
Or, press and hold the power button, then select "power off" instead of reboot. Power the phone completely off, then restart the phone.
A little tip to avoid that happening again:
After you flash a theme or ROM, instead of selecting "reboot phone now" in the Recovery menu, select "Power Off." Let the phone turn completely off, then turn it back on.

hey i got a question, lol
on a stock zvc rom i used on LG Esteem (similar to revo) i made like 1 or 2 theme tweaks with framework-res.apk, services.jar & LGHome.apk... i seem to have an issue where i hold power for menu, select power off. but phone just reboots to boot animation than powers on rom again..
i only switched out statusbar_background.png in framework, added transparency line to services.jar (which seems to be working) and swapped LGHome.apk with version from zvb(previous fw update prior to zvc) so do you think it could be related to any of that, or is it just an actual problem with the rom..? thank you for any help..

Phone frozen in aroma installer for trickdroid, won't reboot.

Any thing I can do besides wait for it to die? Icons flash but phone won't reboot no matter how long I hold power.

Okay I got it to show up in adb and rebooted it. Now I am stuck at the boot screen and I can't get to recovery, and it won't show up in adb.
just happened to me and adb does not work either.
Edit - Phew just fixed it. Had to install the driver again and got it to reboot with adb.
To reboot the phone without ADB, just hold down the Vol Up and power button for 9 seconds, the phone should shut down. If it doesn't try again. Might take a try or two but I've always been able to reboot that way after Aroma hard freezes.

I didn't mean reboot into recovery, this is just to shut the phone down after it froze and you can't do anything else. Like when Aroma crashes. I don't know if it's a real button combo, but I found that it worked, it just happened that last night that I reinstalled my rom and tweaks for trickdroid, and it would freeze. I found holding down power and immediately pushing the Vol Up button, after 9 seconds it will shut down. If it doesn't, try again. It'll work, frustrating, but it works.
On a side note, is there a manual out there somewhere that has all the button combos?
Force shutdown, recovery, bootloader, Safemode, stuff like that.
No issues force shutting down the phone using what I did, or getting into fastboot & recovery and stuff, but would be nice if there would be a writeup or a guide on this.
Cheers
Sometimes the forced shutdown doesn't work. You can sometimes use adb to reboot but that doesn't always work either. You just have to let the battery die.
Yep, experiencing this right now! the button combo doesn't work, adb wont recognize the phone, waiting for it to die

The leading hypothesis is that HTC built in a safe guard against you accidently managing to push PWR + VOL DWN when your phone is in your pocket.
I really wish I could remember who I got that fix from--that guy deserves a medal!

Usually when the phone is stuck like that it is registered in ur pc as the phone being off so nothing works when the phone is frozen in aroma lol the only thing that works on the phone is the sensor in that case. I am not too sure but I know for sure the sensor have something to do with the light adjustment of ur screen light when ur in the sun it gets brighter when ur in the dark it gets dimmer even putting the phone to ur ear the sensor tells the screen to turn off and on. Even with the soft keys they don't light up until night time. So when ur phone freezes like that the only thing that knows the screen is actually on is the sensor and if ur in the dark the sensor would not detect it as being on until u put it in some light which makes the power button shut the phone off. This works on HTC Butterfly and the htc one series plenty ppl asked me about it lately on the one x and so on

Help please Aroma is stuck and holding down power won't reboot the phone

I HATE Aroma installer. didn't touch the screen and install is hung.

Any other key combo to force a reboot?

Not holding it long enough then. That's "battery pull" button combination. It can literally take 10-20 seconds. The buttons flashing is a good sign.
EDIT: Timed it on my phone, exactly 15seconds.

Huh, it's always worked without fail for me.
Congrats then, you get to wait until your battery dies.
try just holding power until screen goes off then volume down until in bootloader. may take a while but it works ive been in far worse situations with this phone but it always comes back. starting to think this phone is really hard to brick. all in one toolkit is a lifesaver if your not using it you should be. if you have a problem getting into recovery use it and if recovery starts then reboots or closes back to bootloader erase cache with all in one toolkit the boot to recovery
Define a while. Ive held the button down while lights flashed 200 times. It won't turn off.

where are you stuck at? download all in one toolkit and see if that has something that will help you. it saved me a bunch of times already. if the phone turns on or is on your okay. its just frustrating sometimes when you think you might have ruined a $600 device but as long as its on your ok no need to stress

If you've held the buttons for around 40 seconds you are going to just have to wait for the battery to die happened to another person. One other thing count the flashes after 20 release and then hold again and it should reset at 15 flashes if not then you are going to have to wait for the battery to die. Good news is after that the other person was able to get back to recovery and didn't have the problem again.
still nothing. Hope it drains down completely over night. I need to be able to get the thing up and running tomorrow
As an Evo owner I was shocked to hear the correct procedure for that phone was pwr + VOL UP AND VOL DOWN yes all three at the same time. I assumed vol up and vol down could not both be selected at the same time because they were on a rocker switch where, if one side is low, the other must be high. But it turns out you could do both. Is the HTC One like this?

back up and running. battery finally died. Flashed stock boot.img after a recharge and all is well.
I'm swearing off of aroma installers from here on out.
Had the same problem also today. But I did not give up to try pressing power + vol down. After several attempts the phone finally restarted.
You're more patient than me I guess. I worked at it for more than an hour and a half.

Well...this is a problem.

Looks like my m8 is soft bricked. Everything was fine, rooted, romd, s-off all went smooth. Then I installed xposed and my phone refuses to boot, even when i try to put it into recovery it bugs out and turns off. I suspect an Ruu could fix but we dont have one yet. As a warning to everyone, stay away from exposed for now.
Once xposed is installed, it creates a zip on your internal sd to disable xposed. Flash it.
