Hey All;
Long time lurker on XDA, first time poster. My phone has been behaving badly, and thus far my googling, and searching XDA has not found any answers; so thank you in advance for any info you can provide.
I have and HTC HD7 (Bell Canada network). This morning my phone rebooted a couple of times, and when it "rebooted" the last time it just hung at the HTC boot screen (white screen with green HTC logo). First I took apart the phone and reseated the SD card. That in itself didn't resolve the issue, but I was able to do a factory reset and got the thing booted.
Now suddenly I am not able to get any service on the phone. It is not giving me any indication that there is an issue with the SIM card, and I even tried it with another known working SIM from my girlfriends phone to no avail. Also oddly, I have connected the phone to my PC, and tried to update it. It will update to 7.10, but will not detect that the mango update (7.5?) is available.
Seems very odd that suddenly the phone would now have no service, and I'm thinking that it must be related to the issues I had this morning. Any thoughts on what could be causing this?
Thanks!
Phone acting wonky/no service
About 6 month ago I had an issue with my old Samsung Omnia 2 using Bell Mobility as well...My phone would continually show no service or jump to roaming mode...A call to bell mobility help line and a good rep indicated to me the sim card was recalled due to issues..A quick trip to bell mobilty and a new sim card fixed the issue...Hope this may help you..I now have an HD7 with the same replacement sim card no issues...
Nope... I manged to get reception for a little bit earlier tonight and then it stopped working again. Pretty sure I must have broken something in the antenna when I remounted the SD card. Tried to fix that problem and now the phone doesn't even power on. Great another $300 device down the toilet...

I've had my unlocked HTC Kaiser for 2 months now on the AT&T Network no problems. On Thanksgiving Day, my phone decided not to turn on after I left the phone to charge overnight. I figured it did not get a good charge so I tried recharging it. It was flashing red lights near the the top of the phone. So I go into AT&T on Friday to see if its the battery or the european charger that may be at fault. I played around a few combinations in the store and it suddenly/magically turned on. (I decided to buy the charger and extra battery anyways). The employee decides that for some reason or another, the phone needs a SIM Card. Well here is where everything went downhill.
After the new SIM card, I was unable to make or receive any calls, and no access to my data plan. Sometimes, I would have full signal bars but still was unable to make/receive phone calls. I've been able to make calls on very rare occasions; especially in this room in our school. What to give? So I went into another AT&T store and noticed that they had the incorrect IMEI number down in their system,. I asked for them to fix it but they said they couldn't change it for some reason and that the IMEI wouldn't be causing the problems I'm experiencing. So I finally called Customer Service Support on the phone and supposedly they were able to change it to the correct IMEI #. But still the same issues. I've done soft, hard, master resets, take out the battery + SIM card, you name it and still the same problem! When I took the SIM Card out of my phone and put it in a Blackberry, it did work! But when I took the Blackberry SIM Card into my phone, it did not. The support team told me that indicates that it is my phone; but I clearly told them that it could also be due to the fact that the towers just aren't recognizing my device no longer.
So I spoke to HTC about this and they said its the SIM card and they wanted me to go in and get another SIM card. So I went into AT&T today and got a new SIM card but same problem. Again, same issue. So I called AT&T Customer Support today and asked them to bump me up to Level II or III support. She says she cannot do that because my phone is unlocked (from HTC) and no support for that. I gave her the rundown on how my phone was working for 2 months until they put in the new SIM card and my cell phone activity clearly show that. Then she goes on to mention that other technical service reps that have helped me in the past few days clearly have pointed the culprit to be my device and not AT&T as they have exhausted all tests. And I told her, it's like taking a brand new car to a mechanic and then get the car back not running. If you ask the mechanic what did you do to my car, he's not going to admit to anything. She says that my device isn't being recognized by the towers. So then I brought up the point of "So is it my tower or is it really my phone?". I told her it's no problem getting a new phone but if I get a new phone, will it be unrecognized by the towers again. She said yes because it is unlocked. I said what about the thousands of other people who use unlocked Kaisers or any phone for that matter as they seem to have NO problems. They basically want you to buy the phone directly from them.
In all, I've spent nearly 10 hours on trying to get this thing to rework and be able to place/receive phone calls. Whether this is due to the events which ensued after the red light indicator on Thanksgiving Day OR the fact that AT&T switched my SIM Card and caused my device to be undetected by towers (whether it was due to the fact they put in the wrong IMEI in the first place or any adjustment they made to my account) remains to be determined.
The only options that remain is: 1) Go to TMobile and try out their SIM card on my phone and see if it works. I highly doubt they too will let me do that as they consider phone unlocked and don't want to help 2) Get a new phone through HTC and hope it'll work on AT&T again.
Any ideas or support??? heheh. your help is truly appreciated
I feel you pain Brother.......
I don't have a clue how IMEI and towers can just not register your device...though....but anyhow, did you check if you have the Phone in the Dialing screen-Menu-Options, then the tab BAND on the bottom and both of them selected as AUTO? if not, then try changing bands.......
If you know that then, I'm thinking only of AT&T could have blacklisted you or some sort.......but that is highly unlikely......
I had some problem like that when i'm out of the country using Foreign Chips, and it seems the Kaiser needs a bit of time to adjust to new sims, and that can take minutes, hours...or even days......who knows what is happening as the phone is "learning"....... hope this helped you a bit....
I've been using my Kaiser for several months now and I did not register my IMEI, I just popped the sim out of my 8525 and took off running. It sounds to me like your phone has failed in some way, especially if your new sim works fine in another phone. The question now really is, where can you get a Kaiser fixed in the US? I spoke with HTC on another subject and I get the feeling that it may be difficult. I got mine from a shop in Canada, guess I'd have to go thru them.
In any case, good luck, it will be interesting to see what it turns out to be.
I second RemE -- like him, I bought a Tytn II & plugged in the SIM from an older phone (in my case a Qtek 9100 not bought through AT&T/Cingular), and have had no problems.
i had a similar problem with my 8525. I bought a Tilt to replace it, and about a week later I gave the 8525 to my son to use. neither his SIM card or mine would work in the 8525, but they worked in other phones. I brought the phone to the AT&T store and the guy there did something on his computer, then the phone was able to work. I'm not saying that AT&T blacklisted it, because I don't really know. But it took a change by the AT&T rep at the store to get the phone working again.
I have been using Kaiser with ATT for three months now with no problem. I just used the sim card from my Blackberry and so far, no problems.
My TyTN II developed a strange problem during the last week. It’s all started one morning when I suddenly discovered that I can’t make a call. Every call that I tried to place ended by itself even before I hared a first deal tone. I’ve made a soft reset and the phone took unusually long to find a local network (Orange). I call the network operator and was told that in my area they don’t have any problems. After some more trials I’ve made a hard reset. Reinstalled my software and it seamed to work out. But about three days later the problem returned and in addition to it the TyTN eat up almost fully charged battery over night (just once, it didn't happen again).
I couldn’t place a call again, but this time a hard reset didn’t help. What helped is that I changed the network type from “Auto” to a GSM. That means that I have excluded 3G WCDMA service.
Now, at least during the last two days, the Kaiser phone is working, but without 3G. I visited the local technical center (they are not specialized in HTC phones) and they told me that they can’t see anything particular wrong with the phone, but they are not a specialized HTC service center. So, what’s wrong with it? During the last 3 months I had 3G services without a problem. Sending the phone to a specialized HTC center (abroad) may be costly and they also may not find anything wrong with it, because phone if set back to the Auto mode sometimes even finds the 3G network.
Did somebody have a similar problem? Please help. What it could be? Problem with the phone? May be the SIM? Or just the Orange service network got crazy?
I have an original ROM:
ver. 1.56.405.5 (08/28/07),
Radio 1.27.12.11,
Protocol 22.45.88.07H
Hi there,
I had exactly the same problem. I first thought it might be with my sim card but it worked fine on other phones.
I have since sent the phone to HTC and had it repaired -- works fine now.
Hope this helps.
I had the same problem on my Kaiser when it first arrived from an ebay sale. Worked fine in GSM/Edge mode, but would not make or receive calls in 3G mode at all. Finally sent it back to HTC in the US who repaired it at no cost (thanks guys!) and shipped it back to me.
It's been working fine since then.
I read lots of others who have had this problem and the fix seems to be returning to HTC for repair.

I had this problem and still have. I send my phone back 4 times. First time something went wrong. 2nd time it got a motherboard replacement (for the 3G chip) it work even better then when I bought. It lasted for 14 days untill the 3G failed again. I send it back got and Worked for 1 day again re-send it they called me said it's working fine with them (3G options) and they can't find any problems with it. I received the phone back. Worked for 1 day again on 3G then again the problem. I have checked with my provider no problem. Tried other sim cards issue is still there. I'm keeping it here till the Xperia gets out then I'm sending it back untill the 3G issue gets fixed.
No matter what issue this phone has, it's the best on the market imo, that's why I keep up with it.
I'm having this problem which started right now, without even rebooting the phone or doing any kind of procedure. The phone accepts the pin code for the sim card, shows signal on the notification bar, but I can't make any calls, and it doesn't recognize the network on the notification bar - however, on the phone information area it has no problem recognizing the network.
Any idea on what's happening? I'm on JPU btw!
edit: after a couple of reboots it's working again Well, the problem is solved; still, should I be worried about this behaviour?
how did you solve this problem? im having same issues
this is crazy i am having the very same problem, my I9000T was on charge i shut down my pc then disconnected the I9000T, and since then it does not see my sim card, i have tried three different sim cards without any luck, the phone is rooted, and funnily enough i was reading about Darky`s v8 rom as this was my next step i wanted to do today GGRRrrr does anyone have any ideas on this, or do i unroot it and take it back to the shop i bought it from ?? thanks and regards in advance

Hi chaps, I have tried searching across the internet with no luck, here's the deal.
I bought this p1000 galaxy tab some days ago from a guy on a forum. tried it thoroughly before paying, inserted my phone SIM, got a phone call, sms, 3G internet, wifi, all working flawless. I used it for some days wi-fi only waiting for my new tablet SIM to be ready.
Monday, I receive the SIM but it still had to be activated. I just kept it in the tablet waiting for it to be OK. Zero problems, just the usual "no service" message like you would expect from a sim that's yet to activate
This morning I finally get the SIM activated, but as soon as I try sending a text or something, the tablet just shuts down. After that, no way trying to boot it up again: it reaches the Samsung logo, then bye bye. If you remove the SIM from the tray it magically comes back to life.
I already tried the usual stuff, like hard resetting and like, cleaning the SIM or something. I also tried with another carrier sim and I get the same behavior. I'm starting to believe that there is some hardware fault with the SIM reader, but I thought I'd try to get some hints from here before calling Sammy's assistance. Also the weirdest part is that it worked some days ago!
If anyone has any idea/experience to share, I'd love to hear from you mates. thanks in advance!
(oh and btw I know how to hit a thanks button)
I'll update the post with further intel, maybe it will help someone down the road.
The tablet does not like freshly activated SIMs. I know it sounds crazy but that's where we are at. We have tried like 4 different SIM cards from different operators, all work flawlessly; The SIM card of the above NOW works flawlessly as well, it just needed a couple days to settle down. I have no idea if this is a software bug, a hardware fault or some strange network settings from my carrier, but the problem seems to be solved for now. Luckily i didn't send it in for repairs!
I have a Developers Edition, using an AT&T sim. I just got the sim about a month ago, as my previous phone had a normal sim instead of a micro. I'm running Android Revolution 8.1.
Intermittently, about once every two weeks, I lose all connectivity and it says sim card not found in the status bar. I reboot the phone and everything is fine. I've tried removing and re-installing the sim card twice now.
Has anyone else had this issue or know the cause?
I had that happen to my DE for this first time this morning. A reboot solved it (for now). If I'm not mistaken, this happened on the HTC One X and a number of people got new SIMs only to have the problem resurface. I guess we'll have to wait and see how many others are affected or if it's limited to only a handful of devices. I doubt if there's anything wrong with your SIM card, but AT&T will give you a replacement if you want to go that route and see.
I used to have the problem one my one x, it was caused by a poorly fitting sim tray combined with the body and back not being completely rigid (it was the same underlying problem which caused the screen flex and wifi problems on the one x). I solved the sim problem with a new sim tray but the underlying problem always remained of course...
Hello,
I am with international HTC One and I have already had this issue twice. But for me, rebooting the mobile does not solve the issue. The first time, after having switching 10 times with some other cards I had, it suddenly worked when I put the card from an Iphone.
This night, same issue again ! Up to now, even with changing with the same card, it does not work !
**** ! I don't know what to do......
Any ideas ?
i have had same issue with my ex One X . Went to service and replaced mobo.btw while all process service guys scrached the body, lost bluetooth sensivity, lost wifi sensivity,green-orange led became bigger light.
i hope something wrong with your Sim.or store can replace with new one . otherwise bad days waiting for your One.
Found this solution in another forum. Sounds like it might work.
