hello i currently have a motorola milestone, i plan on getting the sidekick 4g eventually but is there anyway to get the sidekick mms apk to install and function on my phone? i tried pushing it, it shows up on root uninstaller but no messaging app appears in my app drawer... i also thought i would make this my first apk editing project to no avail since there is no smali file in the apk itself... i used apktool to decompile it... any help and answers are greatly appreciated i just want a good stock messaging app. not handcent or gosms ive tried both but neither really give me the feel i want

The long and short of this story is that I made a mistake and deleted the stock Touchwiz .odex file of my MMS app. (This was in an attempt to use the AOSP MMS app, which did indeed install.) This AOSP app however, did not come with a .odex file (I thought nothing of this at the time, and everything seemed fine until I went to send a message. Now, when I hit send, the app force closes and won't send the message. ( I can still recieve things though, and chompSMS will allow me to send SMS, but not MMS.) I really don't want to have to re-flash the whole ROM, because I have done a great deal of customization. Is there anyone out there who could, by chance, give me the .apk and .odex from their ROM? I have looked all over for this, and have come up dry. Thanks again!
I recently flashed a gingerbread theme, and I love the black status bar, except how the notify icons look on it, since they were made for a white bar. So I'm trying to use Ninja Morph to change the icons, which seems like a simple procedure, but it's being very frustrating. I had the TweetDeck icon changed and working correctly, and then a half hour later it started FCing on me. Don't even get me started on the Google Voice app, that seems to work at complete random with no rhyme or reason.
This is frustrating. What's the trick here?
You know I was having the same problem I updated some of my Icons and i followed the instructions and made sure all my images were the same size name right ones and png's and everything then as soon as it rebooted it only gave me FC for every app but two and that was the dialer and the browser and the dialer only worked for incoming calls, the only solution was to sbf. No fun I cant figure out what i did, so no im thinking maybe i have a corrupted file and i need to go in and one by one change them out to figure out what was the cause if any. (oh did i mention this happened three time, what a pain in the a--) Well My advice would be to look at the specifics of what you are doing then maybe start over or try something different, but other than that IDK.

I could test for you. What apps and what icons? Maybe you could post them and I will do it and see what you're doing wrong (if anything). You know market apps have to be signed. Stericson has an app for that too called Signapktic. Works on the phone but in order to use it you have to tell Ninjamorph "NO" after it creates the package then you have an APK of your project in the AndroidThemes/workspace directory. Once signed you can zipalign in terminal and install. Let me know if you need a walkthrough for this method and I will write one up for you.
I'm having problems with ninjamorph too with it just hanging and never finishing. I have some sweet ideas too

I could use a write up of how to do it via terminal if you could do this it would be greatly appreciated. Trying to switch a green for blue android in the Advanced task killer app and am having trouble
If you morph any thing different than a system app you have to re sign the app. Use Signaptic its free on the market. Also when you use signaptic choose the platform iption.

Hello,
I'm currently running Darkyy's v7.5 on my SGS. I don't really like sms/mms app that's included, because of the white colors.
I know that darkyy has planned to go back to original sms app in v7.6.
But besides the colors the sms app seems very cool to me, not showing these bubbles in conversation and some other things
I'm not very well versed in modifying apps with apktool and eclipse, but I wonder if it's possible to just customize the colors of the app?
Think I already found the right color-tags but after baksmaling, changing them, smaling and signing, I get FCs everytime I try to run the app. Also I can only replace the original with root explorer, cause I don't know how to rename the package, cause ecplise just gives me a lot of errors.
Andybody suggestions or solutions?

Search and read the thread on how to morph DOC's ROM to your like-abilities.
Yea docs has a black/grey modded sms app in it...not the samsung version but the AOSP one
Sent from my Captivate
you might want to take a look at the mms.apk of the cyanogen rom , it's same as stock , but there is a black theme included , you can also change the font size.
or you can go with go sms for example , which is very nice
Old SMS app on my Darky's 7.5.
1) Insall "Root manager" app
2) Go to root/system/app
3) Tap on "Mount R/W" in top of the window ##for premitions
4) Delete the Mms.apk
5) Copy attached Mms.apk root/system/app
If you ever will wont to go back to (IMHO) very nice sms app.
Thanks for your suggestions!
I managed to get back to the samsung sms app.
The apps from Doc's rom I found had the same white colors, I could find a dark one. Doc's rom 6.2 only includes the stock app.
But for now, I'm pleased to have the samsung sms app back again.
Anyway, if someone has a link to a dark aosp sms app, feel free to post
Hi,
Running DL30 Super Clean 1.0 with DJ05 Radio.
I was having weird issues sending MMS and decided to try to reinstall the messaging app from ROM manager under jt1134's section. Bad idea - it opens and I can read my messages - but after sending one (either SMS or MMS), the app FC's. Can someone please post just the new messaging app from DL30 for me?
Also, is anyone else having trouble with MMS after upgrading to DL30, using this radio? SMS was working fine, and I could send photos just fine - but long plain text messages (those that were long enough to have the phone convert them to MMS) were not received properly (at least on non-smartphones).
I did wipe data/cache and dalvik cache in the upgrade process.
The only thing I can think of is that after upgrading to DL30, I restored "SMS/MMS prefs". This resulted in my old text messages becoming available (I hadn't backed them up prior to DL30), but wonder if perhaps something didn't play nice with the new messaging app for DL30.
Anyway, I don't really care about my old messages anymore, just want new SMS and MMS to work.
Thanks in advance,
JB
You've got the stock messaging app and you just don't know it. Unzip the superclean zip on your computer, navigate to system/app (of the unzipped superclean, on your computer) and pull messaging.apk out of there. throw it on your sdcard, then copy/paste it from your sdcard to system/app on your fascinate. Then reboot.
Voila, stock messaging app back where it should be.
Thanks! Total brain fart, should've known this.
Very cool except I do not see that apk anywhere in the superclean zip.
You're right, there's no particular "messaging.apk" in system/app.....try "mms.apk" ? Just a guess...i know sms and mms are different, but it might work?

Didn't mean to hit thanks for the above poster, but oh well. He is correct. mms.apk is what you are looking for.
Hey guys,
I had an idea of how to get rid of that annoying "R" logo from Rockplayer at the topleft corner of the screen. I know you can buy the full application, but I will only buy it from the Android Market and not wire money to some unknown developer's site. And I will not pirate it. Those are simply workarounds
But, my idea was to use Metamorph to change the "R" icon to an empty/invisible PNG. I've been trying this, though, with a few errors.
- If I use Metamorph to do this while the application is stored in /data/app, the signature checking hides the application. Stericson mentioned this will happen with all apps you morph that are in /data/app because Metamorph signs with the dev key.
- If I use Metamorph to do this while the application is in /system/app, I get a Force Close notice when I attempt to open a video file inside the app. However the app itself shows up and launches fine.
I never got Metamorph to work with morphs I tried to make for AudioManager, but I've seen tons of success stories of people making morphs for it. I believe this app could have the same success.
Anyone have any suggestions of how to get this working, then?
Also, people who have made successful AudioManager morphs: How did YOU do that? Could you provide instructions?
have you ever tried apk manager?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695701
while i've never tried to modify the apps you are using specifically, i was able to change notification icons for gmail, the aosp email, and handcent.
my advice would be to treat every app like a system app. that way, you can retain the original signature.
Look for Signapktic by Stericson in mkt. You can do it all on the phone. I wrote a tut a while back it's on here somewhere search theme market apps and signapktic.
Thank you guys for your help

What key do I need to sign it with in Signapktic, and do I need to have the key in my sdcard?
Edit: That was kind of a stupid question, please disregard it
I tried both of your methods, however the app just opens then closes no matter if it's in /system/app or in /data/app...
