Hello, im new to the world of galaxy note phones and need to flash N7000JPKJ4_OJPKJ3_XSG_Android_2.3.5 firmware through ODIN. I extracted the file and found just one tar file. Where do i select this file and do i need to select re-partition and pit file?
Thank you.
DO NOT, i repeat..DO NOT ever, check repartition or load a pit file.. this is the only known way to get a sure brick... you dont really ever need to flash a pit file unless you mess up your partition table.. if you look around the forum, the first rule of odin flashing is we do not play with pit files

Hi, I got the JPY ROM from the thread in the general discussion, and any time i have tried to flash it onto my phone, the phone refuses to start properly. It just vibrates a couple of times and black screens.
I am using Odin 1.3 and PIT 512 for this as it says on SamFirmware.com.
Is this the ROM not working properly, or me doing something wrong?
Mate did you click repartition in odin?If you did then you SHOULDNT!!!!
Try to get in to recovery mod with the 3 button combo and make a factory reset if yo had NOT clicked repartition.
In case had HAD clicked repartition in Odin then i guess you ll have to download a foul stock firmware and flash it.Meaning a firmeare that has Modem and CSC files aswell and not only PDA file...
I'm just about to flash XXJPY and I was just wondering, do I have to unroot 'before' flashing the single file (pda) XXJPY or can I leave it as is..?? Does it make any difference..??
Thanks

nah you dont need to have it rooted to flash JPY.
I believe the JPY file in the general forum is just an upgrade / high level package which is why you dont tick repartition. Usually look for posts by Richthofen- hes the dude who converts it to mid level packages so you can couple it with a CSC and modem.
hi there same thing happened to me i updated this thru samsung kies im stock at black screen would factory reset make my phone work again? i need help please please please

I am already rooted so should I un-root before flashing or just leave it rooted..???
And also have SGS Battery Icon Mod installed, again does this have to be un-installed before flash or not..??
Can someone post a link to the right ROM that I can use to update using ODIN that will not result in existing data lost ? The one that I downloaded is a single tar file (Size - 298,890KB) that contains these files. If this is the right file, do i just specify the tar file in the PDA and uncheck repartition ?

Hello,
I just wanted to upgrade to XWJS5, so I flashed JPU with 512 pit and re-partition checked (so then after it I flash JS5 with 803 pit and no re-partition)
Now odin is stuck on "Set Partition" stage and my phone doesn't even show any progress, what should I do?
I don't want to brick my phone
Please answer me ASAP, my phone is stuck here now
The USB is still connected... anyone please?
did you definitely uncheck re partition ??? and have you got all 3 files ??
I flashed stock JS5 with 512 pit (even tho samfirmware says 803 pit )
and its worked like a charm,,, dont panic just breathe and relax and try again.
I'm flashing JPU right now not JS5. You know because JS5 has only 1 file if I flash it alone phone wont bootup.
Re-partition is on, pit is 512, firmware is JPU and CSC/Modem files are selected correctly. Will my phone brick if I unplug it or maybe close odin?
IT WILL BRICK but it will just be a soft brick which means you can fix it by flashing another ROM thru odin...
you will be fine just make sure download mode works after u unplug it
and also js5 comes in 3 files now its on here somewhere,,, download that and flash it
So shall I unplug it now or close odin? And after i've unplugged it, should i re-open odin or keep it there and press flash button?
Can you please give me the 3 files JS5 link? I found one but i'm not sure if it's the correct one.
well you cant keep it plugged in forever lol, unplug it, restart odin. make sure kies (if you have it) is closed (even in the icon tray) and download XWJS5 link is below. flash that with PIT and RE-PARTITION and that should fix it

Hi I'm new to this so bare with me.
My Galaxy S has been playing up recently and when I try to switch it on it goes to the first Samsung Galaxy S gt-i9000 startup screen, the screen then goes dark then the same screen reappears. this happens until i remove the battery.
Odin and having to manually flash my phone is all new to me so I would like some advice as to what to flash my phone with to try and get it up and running again.
many thanks.
Odin
Sent from my sense uid SGH-I997 using XDA App
Put the pda firmware file in the pda slot. phone file in the phone slot . if there is a pit file put it in the pit slot. Then hit flash

When you browse the pda file in odin, it'll get checked by itself..

s1_odin_20100512.pit
boot.bin
cache.rfs
dbdata.rfs

the link I gave, downloads the zip file .. JVU-RE.zip... in it you found all these?
from what I can understand you should have found two files..
s1_odin_20100512.pit
and the other one another compressed file which would comprise of the rest of files you mentioned..
along with odin files I guess
is that right?
haha, apologies i've worked it out. stupidity on my behalf.
i have flashed my phone, however it has made no difference. still facing the same problem. think i've got to face up to the fact that my phone is finished.

that's really weird then .. try flashing stock samsung firmware ..
you can download from this link
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=GT-I9000&r=1
would suggest downloading the one for your region and flashing in same way you flashed earlier.. this would give an unrooted stock rom on your SGS .. if this also isn't successful well then you should take it to service center.
I can't believe I overlooked such a vital detail when flashing with Odin...
I flashed UVKB5_Deodexed_Stock_Voodoo_odin.tar.md5.tar (which is for T959) with pit512 with re-partition checked on a vibrant i9000m which was originally on I9000UGKG3.
Once the flash completed, the phone was looping. Couldn't get to recovery mode, but was able to get into download mode.
So I flashed I9000UGKG3 stock with pit512 and re-partition checked, but now I'm getting boot loop up to the splash screen but it just repeats itself. It did enter recover right after the flash but I am not able to return to it anymore even with button combos.
What should I do at this point?
EDIT: Right after flash, in the recovery screen, it said the following "E:failed to mount /dbdata (File exists)" and plenty other red text...
Just flash the stock firmware for your phone via Odin.. Put the single file u get in pda... U can download it from Samfirmware.com for your respective country...
If my post helped, don't mind hitting THANKS
am i suppose to re-partition and do I use a pit file? If so, which one?
thanks

don't tick on repartition.. And no pit file is required.. Only a .tar file LL be there.. So just put it in PDA and flash..

So my phone is constantly bootloping and it seems I cant find any solution for this. I have tried to flash with stock firmaware, flash with Bootloop fixes found on this forum, with some other ROMs. But not any of these helped. And the worst part is, that when I go to Recovery I cant do anything because it proccess some code and after few seconds it reboots. Thats a big minus because I cant install any Kernel. Its just f. up. I also managed to do a hard reset with phone dial code, it didnt fix anything. Ive also tried to flash broodROM but when I load ROM inside Odin, Odin just crashes immediately.
1. How to fix Odin so it doesnt crash when I load broodROM?
2. Is it possible to flash a kernel with Odin for Gingerbread 2.3.5?
3. Any other solution?

Hi,
what do you mean by that? Usually I would select "One Package" with newer version of Odin, but with 1.85 there is no such an option and I only have one file, which is tar.md5... Are u trying to say that I should load that file under every section or what? Because I dont have PIT file.
Thanks
