Only able to use 1gb for Apps - Motorola Droid Bionic

My phone is showing that I have at least another gb of storage where my apps are stored. However, I can't use any more storage for apps. It maxed out at 1gb for apps. How do I enable more space other than moving apps to my ext sd?

What exactly do you mean "it maxed out at 1gb for apps"? Are you getting the Insufficient Space error when trying to install apps? If so, try this: Manage Applications/All/Market/Uninstall Updates/Clear Cache and if that doesn't work also Clear Data.
Good luck.
Also, many people have success by simply ignoring the error message and retrying the install.

Is uninstalling updates and deleting caches to clear space? My phone has plenty of space but I can't seem to use it.

No, those are steps that have worked in the past to prevent getting the "Insufficient Space" error when trying to download and install apps from the market.

I just had this error last evening (insufficient space). I did just what you suggested, and it worked the second time. Curious.....

Thank you. Your suggestion worked. The weirdest thing is that Android is now reporting more storage.

Set Install Location For FroYo

Found This App on XDA Portal today. Havent tested yet but im about to.
EDIT: I tested with google skymap, I set the app to install to internal storage and it stil installed to sd. Although the option to move to phone was now open and worked! I dont think that option worked before. I could be wrong

This is a first, simple, beta. But it should still work.
It is already included in ROM [Froyo] DJ DROID v1.0-R1 BETA - with HTC Sense - HD 720p - base 2.04.
Requirements:
root
froyo
USB debugging (Menu -> Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Developement -> Check USB debugging. Thx pexon).

not certain, give feedback.
I tested with google skymaps because i know it likes to install to sd with froyo. So I set it to install to internal memory before installing skymaps and it still installed to sd. Although it did open up the option to move to phone in application settings and that worked!!
I dont think that option worked before installing this app. Could be wrong
I tried the tool also.
After setting the option to install to SD I installed the IMDB tool and PicSay.
Both gave the error 'Application was not installed'. When I switched it to internal memory, they installed just fine.
However I don't see the option to move a program. I'm looking in Settings>Application settings>Manage applications and then selecting a tool. The 'Move to SD card' is not available, not for the old tools I installed as for the both tools I did after installing this setinstalllocation tool.
Any bright ideas?
The SD card is formatted with several partitions to make it all run so I don't know why it won't work.
by default isnt the .apk designed to install in certain locations either NAND or SD. depending on where the programmer desires to have it put?
I've been using this for some weeks and it's just great.

Can you give any examples of programs you used it for and to which location you moved it?

[Q] Partition Size

Hi,
i just installed Titanum Backup on my Captivate and it says:
System Rom: 289 MB (40 MB free)
i don't know why is showing this i thought that our captivate has 2 GB ROM !
Now i just have 40 mb left and i dont know where are my 2 GB...
Thx
Look one more line down. See where it says the Internal is 2.01GB (or something close to that number). That's the 2GB you're referencing.
thx, i know that, so what System Rom means?
why if the System Rom gets full i can not install more apps? its just for the OS?
It is just for the OS and anything you install as a system app. When you download a program from the market it goes to the Internal.

ROM = READ ONLY MEMORY
Yes, OS and some system apps. Not ones you download from market or other sources.
It's actually Electronically Erasable Programable Read Only Memory in old tech speak, EEPROM, which doesn't need a battery to keep info. It's what you 'flash' when you run minikies, odin, etc.
All the applications and data you add are stored in another type of static memory (internal or on an sdcard) that also doesn't need a battery to keep info.
To actually run programs, they get loaded from the previous types of memory into faster random access memory (RAM or ' system memory')
that only works when battery power is available. When you reboot your phone, typically by turning its offer and on, the RAM is cleared of any memory. You can't also check ram usage and free up parts of ram with task manager. Press and hold the home key and you wlll get a button for task manager. Click it, then select the RAM tab and you will see.
You've got all of those types of memory in the captivate.

The /system (ROM) partition is on the same nand as /data (internal storage, where user apps are installed) and /sdcard, they're not separate types. Just mounted differently, you need superuser permission to remount the "ROM" partition read/write
Duh! Of course, it's all on the one 16 GB ROM. And then there is the 1/2 GB of RAM.

No one can install directly to external sd...
We can transfer to external sd, only after installation...
and
most of my application are in external sd only...

[Q] Takes too long too show the homescreen

Everything worked fine until I installed Clean Master, and I think it deleted something it shouldn't(I suspect that). Now, whenever I return to my homescreen, it takes up to 5 seconds, sometimes more, until I see all the icons. It doesn't matter where I return from, it has a delay. I have a lot of free memory, wiped Cache and Dalvik cache several times, tried 3 different kernels(running Doomlord at the moment, but have tried Trinity and CoCore Z), still same problem.
I have also tried different launchers, without any help.
I am om custom ROM, DstrikerZ1 Kai ROM.
I want to avoid another reinstallation. Thanks

Check your ram consumption..Another issue may be if you have a slow SD Card...Try pulling it off, but probably there is much ram consumption ...
Can you please post a screenshot with your free - used ram? Also try downloading an app that detects which applications are running in the background and try to uninstall them.

Thanks for your replay, but as I mentioned, I have a lot of free memory. Everything works smoothly besides going back to home screen, it takes time to show all icons.
Here is a screenshot of used RAM.

Missing space after flashing custom rom

Dear Community,
So I'm using the Nexus 6 with 32gb and after flashing a custom rom (Chroma Rom) I noticed that I'm missing ~3gb free total space.
So I searched around a bit and using logcat i found some partitions that were 1.4gb and had almost no data on it (less than 1mb).

Is this the missing space? Is there a way to add these back to the "normal" partition so they can be used?

generally, when you flash a rom, itll wipe out all your different caches, which can take a lot of space. anyways, if you don't ever wipe out your caches manually, it can be a HUGE amount of space.
