[Q] Repair code meanings? - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, guys. I sent my Tab (which was refusing to turn on) to Sammy for repair. Can someone tell me if Sammy replaced my unit, or is sending me the old one?

Cooked ROM - Warranty return?

My phone seems to have been hit with a power surge from my car charger and has the following problems:
- The screen does not come on boot up.
- The phone will not communicate with the PC.
- The battery will not charge from the mains or the PC.
- The reset button does not seem to work.
The phone does still boot up and will ring if I call the number so it is not completely dead.
I have spoken to expansys who have told me that the phone will need to be repaired with 4 - 6 weeks turn around. For a quicker turnaround they suggested sending it directly to HTC (10 - 15 days turnaround)
The problem is I am currently running one the TLR ROMs and have no way to change this back to the original ROM version. I cannot even carry out a hard reset or delete the files on the internal storage. If I send the phone back to either Expansys or HTC will they be able to find out the ROM version while carrying out the repair? If so and the warranty is invalidated will they refuse to repair it or would they charge me for the repair.
It surely doesn't matter either way as you blowing the phone up with a 3rd party power adapter is not an event covered by the warranty anyway so either way you'll be paying for a repair.
Or have I misunderstood your question?
(I suppose your question becomes valid if the fault turns out not to be a power supply induced issue)

I would have thought the phone would have built in serge protection. Just send it back to htc and hope for the best. If they ask what happened. Say it died while charging at home. They may ask about the rom and also may not. Let us know what happens if you do send it to htc.

Keyboard Broken? (After repair)

Hi All,
The screen recently stopped working on my X1, so I sent it off for repair via my insurance company.
The phone is now back, and has been repaired. However, the keyboard seems to "double tap" everything. So if I press an 'n' it appears on the screen as 'nn'. It does this with a range of different keys/numbers and is starting to get VERY frustrating.
Do you think it's likely I'm just holding down the button too long? Is there a setting I can change this?
Or is the phone likely to need to go off for repair AGAIN?
Thanks!
keyboard problem
Even my key board is having the same problem. though i have not sent it for any repair. i noticed it after upgrading to official rom R3A.infact the space bar does not seem to be working. i thought it must be because of some dust inside. Do you think there is any chance of software related issue in this?
I just sent my phone in for this issue. Theyll send you a replacement device. Be aware though that if you are sending it to the repair center in the states and have an x1i theyll send you an x1a instead. Im currently facing this problem and am going to be speaking to the corporate office tomorrow

[Q] Problem. Galaxy S will not turn on unless it's plugged in

Can't boot or enter recovery unless i connect it to wall charger.
Only download mode works.
Any one with similar issues or solutions?
Please help.
Which firmware are you on? Have you tried flashing another from Download mode?
I have exactly the same problem and its not good news. Empty battery icon bar and will not switch on unless plugged in. Anyway sent mine back for repairs and have been advised the following "your phone has liquid on the mainboard and is uneconimical to repair" ok fair enough...but, "the liquid indicator inside your phone has turned red voiding your phones warranty" WTF! I do have insurance cover on the phone which i have to pay extra to get a replacement phone which could be a refurbished phone is so frustrating and not really good enough in my opion. I did kind of hope that it might be a firmware of hardware issue but in my case no. I do however find it hard to believe as all other areas of the phone work perfectly, how this claim that there is liquid/moisture inside the phone only affects 1 area of the phone yeah right. I am not saying this is the case with your phone but it is an area to consider.
Goodluck with your phone i hope its not the same as mine.
i have the same problem anyone have an answer?

[Q] Galaxy s motherboard replacement

Hello,
I have a busted galaxy s (memory card corrupted).. now i can get another one with a broken screen for a cheap price.. my question is, can i just replace the motherboard part where the MC is located, or must i replace the broken screen on the working one.. the screen replacement is a lot harder but i think it wont give me to much trouble.. i am wondering if the motherboard replacement will work without any IMEI or other parts of the phone conflicts.. have never done that before. If someone has, please tell me your experiences.
Both phones waranties are useles and tryed already. They are both unlocked euro phones gt i9000.
Thanks.

The NAND flash is located on the mainboard which is separate from the screen.
You don't need to touch the display with its electronics - there are some display controllers.
Just change the mainboard and that's all
Thank you i thought so too. i had already put my phone apart 3 times, just to see if by some miracle nand would start working again stupid i know, but i was quite desparate..
hi does anybody know where can i find a mainboard for i9000 i googled with no result. i have my screen been replaced. now there are a few grey horizontal lines on it. the strange thing that they dissapere when i plug charger and when the temperature goes up. and sho
wing back when the phone goes colder. in the lab i was told that the problem is in the connector on the main board. and there is nothing to do with it. so can anybody tell me where to find a replacement? thank you.

[Q] Nexus 6 RTN Menu

Hi, I recently purchased a Nexus 6 (64gb) through Motorola and I have a sneaking suspicion that I was sold a refurbished model instead of a new one. Given the high demand and low inventory I wouldn't be surprised if I was.
First off, the packaging was questionable. The plastic that normally covers the screen was not perfectly clear. It had scuffs on it. Secondly, there were particulates(not sure what it was) all over the box interior and phone. Now, the 2 weeks into owning the phone it is having issues that could not be resolved by a factory reset our flashing the factory images. Flickering screen, phone randomly shutting off, stuck pixels, etc. I've spoken to Motorola support and they offered to replace it, but only for a refurbished unit and refused to send a new unit which kind of seems unreasonable since I haven't even had the phone a month.
I did some research online and learned about the RTN menu which displays the Reconditioned Status which is supposed to be accessed by typing ##786# (aka ##RTN#) into the dialer. When I type it in I get an error stating the following: Connection problem or invalid MMI. Is there act way to access the RTN menu? Does it even exist on this phone. Want to make sure all my ducks are in a row before I call them out on it.
That's actually normal. to get dust and scuffs. Great quality control isn't it?
It sounds like it does have a hardware issue though I'd call them up to RMA it. As far as I know they are only RMAing with new units. I have not seen anyone get a refurb and the one I got was new in the box still.
