Hi everyone.
my lcd display has cracked today ( ), before i make an order of a new display i wan't to know if i can replase the lcd type (mine is samsung version) with the AMOLED display.
please help me.
Thanks.
Samsung is the one who made AMOLED. They started running low on supplies because of their Galaxy phones and so the N1 switched to the SLCD.
And one is not compatible with the other. If you cracked an SLCD screen, you need to replace it with an SLCD screen.
Google has a few ways to determine what type of screen you have if you are still unsure.

I was wondering if anyone who got a Nexus One recently know if they have a LCD screen instead of the AMOLED screen. If so I was wondering if you know the following:
1) Does the LCD screen have the multitouch issue with crossing of the axis?
2) How does the LCD screen compare with the AMOLED in terms of battery life?
There is no Nexus One with LCD screens.
The HTC Incredibles were the ones where there were shortages and HTC started using LCD on them.
How do I know if my Nexus One is AMOLED vs Super LCD? YES, i know how nice AMOLED displays are, and in fact, I had a vibrant. They're gorgeous. The reason I ask is because the N1 I got, today, has a really nice screen that reminds me of the AMOLED on the vibrant, but I'm not sure if it's actually AMOLED or Super LCD since I've never seen a super LCD display, that I know of..
AMOLED screens have a "PenTile Matrix". Find a lupe or even try the water drop trick to view the screen pattern.

Click to collapse
Boot into the bootloader. Check your MICROP version:
0b15 is AMOLED
0c15 is SLCD
Install a terminal emulator and type "dmesg", then scan the results for one of the following:
samsung_oled_panel = AMOLED
sony_tft_panel = SLCD
Got it guys, thanks!!
Just wanted to ask if there is any possibility to put the s-lcd from the HD7s into the HD7 ... Just asking, I mean the phones are quite the same expect the display I think ...
i don't think so,try you tubing and you can see how difficult to remove the lcd.why not just use the hd7s.
I think its not possible...
SLCD in Tmobile HD7
Why isn't it possible. The connections look exactly the same on both models.
Can you get the slcd?
I know this is an old post, but just for the record, the answer is yes and no. I'll explain:
I repaired an HD7 a while ago and I damaged the LCD by mistake. I did some research and found out the Inspire and the HD7s LCDs are compatible. I had a spare LCD from an Inspire so I put it in the HD7. It fits perfectly and connects to the motherboard, no problem. But after playing with the phone for a while I noticed that the colors started to fade out whiter and whiter. The colors were not vibrant at all. After rebooting the phone the colors would look normal again. Then they would start fading more and more until everything looked washed out; almost black and white. I thought it was the phone at first.
I did some more research and realized that the Inspire and HD7s both use superLCD's, but the the regular HD7 used a regular LCD. Comparing phone reviews showed that this was the only difference between the newer HD7s and the older HD7. So I ordered a regular HD7 LCD and installed it and that solved the washed out color problem. I guess the SLCD was trying to draw more power than the phone was designed to send to the LCD?
Anyway, the HD7 and HD7s LCDs will both fit and work but they are NOT compatible. One uses a SLCD (note the "s") and one uses a regular LCD.
Hey guys! I want to know if I can replace the SAMOLED screen of my I9000 with a S-LCD screen from an I9003, I wanna know just in case something will happen with my screen in the future. If possible I would do this instantly since I'm tired of the burn-in effect from SAMOLED.
Hi everyone!
I have bought my nexus one used, and I would like to know if it has the amoled or the slcd screen.
Can someone help me?
Thank you.
Easiest way to find out? Start the phone in the dark. If you can see light where the screen is black, you have an SLCD. SLCD has a backlight that lights up the whole screen. AMOLED lights up each individual pixel, so a black is truly black and dark on an AMOLED screen.
Otherwise google will show up a lot of results on determining between an SLCD and AMOLED.
Thank you! I have the slcd..
But I still love my N1!
Supposedly, the SLCD version is a better screen and is better on battery with the more common uses. I have only had AMOLEDs, so I have never compared the two directly.
