I'm able to put my phone into download mode by holding down on the volume and power then putting the battery into the phone. Hopefully that helps.

I cant help. I have no idea how you got your phone in the state it is in and Im not even sure that I know what state that is. You gotta do a little more than tell us that your phone is broken.

was the first time I went to install a rom for this phone, I did very well already and done with other phones of the same. I installed everything right good! but I for stupid, will install a rom 2.3.5, but not the bootloader girnderbread install it, when I restart the phone is left alone in att restarts and stays in att, then try to enter download mode and I can not
if anyone can help I would appreciate thanks

Check out the connection issues sticky at the top of this section (or in my signature). Plenty of ways to try to get your phone in download mode.

I bought one of these a long time ago when I soft bricked my phone (went to the ATT screen and then just rebooted over and over) and it worked great cause I couldnt get in download mode either!
Just plug it in your charger/usb port on the phone and bam, your in download mode!

i9000 stuck in boot loop after [STOCK ROM] Odin3 One-Click Downloader install

PLEASE HELP: Calling all experts!!!
After installing the: [STOCK ROM] Odin3 One-Click Downloader and Drivers CAPTIVATE ONLY
My Galaxy S 19000 is stuck on the at&t boot screen.. the at&t logo just keeps flashing...
I cannot get into download mode...
PC is not recognising phone via Kies, odin or anything else...
Something tells me I have made a huge mistake somewhere along the line.. any fix???
Thank you
CAPTIVATE ONLY ... yes you are right
not all hope is gone
do the 3 button Download Mode, follow wiki instructions
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Samsung_Galaxy_S_Series
if that doesn't work, try a hair drier and try again the 3 button download mode
once in Download Mode, use Odin to do it MANUALLY (those one click packages are no good because you don't learn what is involved to modify your phone, and when it breaks you have no idea why it did that) and download the correct firmware for the I9000 not CAPTIVATE
Try a HAIR DRIER???? Are you trying to be funny???
Pls Explain???
some SGS with deactivated 3 button download mode can be reactivated just by heat
I see, well what is the best way of going about this? I have the hair dryer on standby!!!
Also considering I now have the at&t captivate rom mistakenly installed on my i9000, what button combinations will launch dl mode once the phone is heated up?
Thanks again... Jedi Android!
I'm the same situation, can't believe Odin3 One-click downloaded ****ed me this up, my phone didn't load before but I could acess download mode, now im ****ed up
EDIT: How do we heat this thing up?
Blowdry it like 1minute than insert battery + Vol Down + home + power?
why do u want to heat it up? wtf u talking about a hair dryer?
Anyone figured this one out yet ?
Just made the same mistake and I've been looking for a solution for the past 6 hours.. Anyone got any help or advice ?
HELP!
i am having the same problem, has anyone found out how to fix it? please help i cant afford a new phone

I been reading and reading these forums, day after day, after the day I joined.
And this is indeed the most hilarious thread I have ever found here. And the funniest part to me, my captivate is on my lap right now blinking that AT&T logo over and over.
Yep I did the exact same thing and came here to see what I could find to rectify this.
BLOW DRYER!?! Haven't owned one since 1977!!
And since I joined, I never had a reason to post...... till' now!
Unbelievable!
Well went to the RadioSHak and got me some "100k resistors". Yep I sure did!
I'm gonna' make me one of them thar' "Jiggs"!
Lernt that little dandy frum the YooToob!
I'm not sure if posting the answer here would help, cause if you flash "Captivate only (i897)" ROMs on i9000 phones, who's to say you'll actually do the effort of reading the solution here
But since it doesn't require a lot of typing efforts from my side, i'll help you guys get on the right track: Click here (that is... left click!)
+1 on the funniest thread topic though!

[Q] Green Screen Of Death

Anyone Experience this?
Phone was on stock firmware from AT&T (never been rooted)
Plugged Phone Into the computer & opened Odin3Excution v1.00 & booted the phone into Download Mode and clicked Start on Odin. looked back at the phone minutes later and the phone had a full green screen. waited & waited and neither the phone or Odin were making progress. pulled the phone off the USB pulled the battery. restarted the computer and tried again. Now the phone will not boot at all not even the at&t smart phone screen and it wont boot into recovery or download mode.
The phone is being processed through warranty, I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with this or knows what happened. Thanks!
BTW the phone was charged 100% and the sim & sd card werent in the device.

Can a Admin move this to the question section. Sorry for posting in Dev.
Very interesting. Never heard of this. Pull the battery out and wait lets say 1h
Then plug the battery back and hold both volume buttons while inserting the USB. Dont touch the power button.

You can try not waiting at all at first. Just pull it out, put it it and follow what I said earlier.
i had a green screen in the middle of a flash back to stock with ODIN one click (every usb device stopped working on my machine at once)
fired it back up in download mode and odin'd it...no problem
Yep.. Mine too, two times, except that the screens was Light Blue and Yellow..
Moved to Q&A.
Lol funniest thing that I read this thread and then thought, wow must be one of the lucky one's cause that never happened. Next thing i know I go to flash back to stock and when i look over it was the green screen. I was like NOOOOO! So now im trying to install the drivers on my bro's comp since my windows partition is being a...well you know. Tried to use heimdall but I don't have the stock bootloader....just the sbl. Advice, if you don't wanna risk it, find a win machine and use odin one click downloader
Sorry to resurrect and old thread, but it was either this or start a new thread for the same problem.
I was flashing back to stock from Mosaic and this happened. Green screen and nothing else. Now it won't turn on or go back into download mode. Think a jig will help this?.
Edit: Waited about 10 mins and tried again. IT LIVES!!!!
it is worth a try of jig if key combo does not work.
the same thing just happened to me. i was using odin3excution v1.00 to flash back to stock before taking the phone in to AT&T to get the warranty replacement. i got the teal/green/blue screen at factortrfs, it just sat there and killed everything usb on my computer. i pulled the battery and tried to reboot into download/turn it on/plug it in, no response whatsoever. i have the battery pulled and im waiting to try again, but if that does nothing, what can i do? i could take it in and tell them it did this in the middle of the kies update, but is that even believable? any help is appreciated, i don't have a jig and making one is last resort. thanks brothersss

[Q] I9000M Can't boot!

Hi, I know the questions have been asked many times, but I did not see any good answers.
I have an I9000M an d I tried upgrading to froyo 2.2. I first tried with Kies, but it wouldn't. It would see my phone, I could add music, add/save contact, but when I upgraded it would just disconnect.
I turned to Odin's method. I had the seemingly frequent problem of it being stuck at "File Analysis" It had been there for an hour or so... So I got it was not working. I then had the bad idea of unplugging it, and now I'm stuck at the screen on boot with a [phone]---[exclamation mark]---[pc].
I can't get into either recovery or download mode anymore (tried with 3 buttons, but wasnt able anyways before, and ADB don't see my device (nor does Odin or Kies).
I tried removing the battery for about a minute and rebooting/replugging, etc. Nothing works.
What can I do more...?
Thanks

Without download mode (VOL Down, Home, Pwr) then your only options is to either send it in for repair or try to get download mode working with a homemade Jig.
More on that Here.
I heard story's of people of forcing it to go into download mode using heat as well from say a hair dryer. But I do not recommend that.

Also I'm just curious as how you used odin without even having download mode? I'm having my doubts that when you said I know this question has been asked many times but you have not found a good answer is true. Next time do a bit more reading before just flashing your device. If you have even 1 thing your not sure about when flashing your phone that's 1 to many.
Puzzled also .
First question has to be can you actually get the phone into download mode .
Thats the big yellow download sign .
That has to be your first step get download mode on your phone .
Odin does not work without download mode so if no download mode who knows what you where trying to achieve or did achieve .
jje
No, I could get it in download mode BEFORE attempting to flash. Then I started Odin.
Now, I'm stuck with the image on boot screen and I can't do a thing. Phone is not recognized anymore on my PC so ADB/KIES/Odin won't see it.

Remove Kies and reinstall that will make sure the drivers are OK .
Get into download mode if 3 buttons fail then you need the jig as posted.
Could try removing battery go to three button download mode and as you are holding down the buttons stick the battery back in to see if it enters download mode .
jje
Thanks guys for all the tips...! But nothing seems to work. It's just stuck at the connect error icon (?) and when I try to go in download mode either way, it just loops. (Icon appears and dissappears)
Two more questions:
1) If i have to get it repaired, do I contact Samsung or my provider ? (Bell in this case)
2) I'm at ease with electronics and stuff, so the jig should't be too hard to do for me, but is it guaranteed to work ? I mean, is it software-independant. Is there a problem that I can have that would prevent it to work ?
Thanks again!
Will work. Had the same issue as yours were I could not get into download mode and the phone would not boot either. The jig saved my phone. You can make your own or you can buy it on ebay. Good luck.
Good, should have all that at my job. Will try it.
Finally, it turns out that I called Bell and they told me that this was a common problem with these devices and they are sending me a new one!
Well.. whatever it was! haha
Thanks again for the help though!

help bricked phone

Hi everyone. Im not normally in this section as i have an x8 but my friend has seen all the roms, mods and updates ive done so he tried to do it to his galaxy s i9000 without rooting or unlocking his bootloader. I asked him what he did he said he just tried to update software with keis but now it wont turn on just white screen with a red triangle in the middle i hope its download mode as i dont have a galaxy i dont really no but the battery has died and it wont charge im guessing hes damaged the bootloader am i right and if so whats the best corse of action to tepair it. Thanks.
You can check if it is in download mode by pluggin it in pc with odin. See the wiki page what it says about soft brick.
Soft-Bricked
After flashing a rom you might not be able to enter the Download Mode by pressing Volume Down + Home + Power. In this case a so called 'JIG' would be helpfull.
You could build it on your own: [HOWTO] [REF] Get Download Mode without 3-button combo using homemade JIG
... or buy a preassembled one on a well known marketplace.Hint: There is no difference between a JIG for Samsung S/S2 or S-Plus.
See if you can go into d0wnload mode with vol down home and power. If that works go and try to find the stock firmware for the phone and download and extract. Download odin and put csc pda and phone/modem in there rightful places. 512 pit in pit section. Pit usually comes with odin download. If not find it somewhere. Repartition checked and hit start. It should reboot when done. It will problaby take a couple of min to boot but be patient. If it starts to go into boot loop put back into download mode again and reflash. Its very hard to mess up the phone to where you cant fix it. So relax and watch tuts or whatever helps you best. I know of a link i that i will find and post for you when i do.

DEAD bricked phone
So, my friend's phone (hopefully she'll stay my friend after this) was turning itself on and off all on it's own. So I (no good deed goes unpunished) suggested that I will upgrade her firmware for her. She had 2.3.3 firmware. I downloaded the odin1.7 as well as a package of all the info for 2.3.5 firmware upgrade. I flashed the phone- originally only using the PDA option with a file called: CODE_I9000XXJVS_CL565837_REV03_user_low_ship
It worked, the phone restarted and showed the firmware as being 2.3.5.
I don't know why, but I thought it would be a good idea to update the CSC and the pit and the modem as well- so I did that. when this was finished - though odin said that the flashing was successful the phone is completely unresponsive. The computer doesn't recognize it, it doesn't show any signs of life at all- like it's in the dark ages and there is no electricity in it.
HELP!!!
First question: do you think a jig will work? how dangerous is it?
second question: is there any other option to try that I haven't come across other than changing the motherboard, and if there isn't do you know where I can get one, bear in mind I live in Israel.
Please e-mail me a copy of the response to [email protected] if you can...
Odin dosnt pick it up atall plus the batteries dead aswell now and the stupid thing wont charge so i cant evan try any thing till i find away or some one to charge it but thanks for the tips.

Try to recharge the battery from other phone or use another battery.
Check whether you have the download mode working. (Home+Power+Volume down)
If yes, put phone in download mode and flash Darky RE or any other Rom via ODIN. Try to get the recovery mod after rooting and then try ROMs.
Or try restarting the phone it may work without update also. Long press power in download mode restarts the phone. However be careful.
What is the status of the device can you go to download mode
Post your firmware files name and how you choose in the odin flasher.
Dont try anything crazy you will bricked your device more:banghead:

Alternate way to Download mode
Hi gavster26
I have been there with a buddy's phone... not a nice place.
Found a link showing this other trick ... but you have to trial and error this one on the different combos:
1. Phone off
2. USB cable pluged in
3. Odin running
4. Down (or Up - test both) Volume button + Home button + plug in the USB cable.
This booted my dead "bricked" phone into download mode.
Try it.

[Q] Think I have bricked my i9000

A couple of days I bought an i9000 off ebay, it came running eclare 2.1
I followed a guide to rooting it by installing a tar via heimdall, however this soft bricked it and when I turned it on it would just get stuck on the samsung logo. My phone seemed to suffer from the 3 button bug and therefore I had to get a jig for it which I received this morning.
I then tried to fix it by using this guide: http://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/...ot-cwm-and-cyanogen-install-help/#entry356900
Bassically I used odin to install the EU samsung firmware, odin said everything went fine and it all passed, however I can no longer turn my phone on.
Screen stays blank, I tried putting batery in, jig in and connecting it to my pc to see if it was just the screen that wasnt responding but still nothing in odin.
Someone please tell me I havent bricked my phone 2 days after getting it.

Yea, nothing happens when I press the power button/use the jig.
And this is 100% a software/firmware issue as it happened after flashing.
I have a feeling I disconnected it too soon, basically odin said it had passed and so i unplugged it but it just stayed on the download screen so I thought it might have gotten stuck and took the battery out. However i might have took the battery out while it was updating something, I dont know.
if you have completely bricked the phone you may have to do this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330491&highlight=usb+jig

Everything is stored on the mobo. However, I am not sure if it will be cheap.
you can pick them up for about £30 if you wait
I have a problem with my SGS 9000 too after I mistakely install firmware for Galaxy Tab. Now it's bricked and it lost download mode. On all actions (power button, entering download mode) I just feel very short and almost insensible vibration impulse. May be somebody had same problem?
P.S. Sorry for English, I'm russian))
