Hi all,
I've got the oppportunity to buy a 'bricked' sgs really cheap.
The device has been bricked by choosing a PDA file in the bootloader option in ODIN. As a result of this really foolish move, the phone won't boot, enter recovery or download mode.
Can this be solved with a JIG, or does this mean the device is irreversely bricked?
Some advice would be really appreciated, as I would´t pay anything for a shiny brick
PS: It is a regular I9000, international
IDK, it wouldnt hurt to try i guess,
depends on the price of the bricked SGS.
SGS is a tough piece of machinery, and if it is hardbricked and the jig doesn't work,
you could allways try the unbrickable mod.
i dont think i would have buyed an unusable brick doh, rather put in a few bucks and buy a working one.
Could the wrong flashing as I mentioned it above cause such a 'hard-brick'?
im affraid so, but im not too familiar with bootloaders,
is there any signs of life when you hit the power button like the cellphone, caution triangle and computer icon?
Nope, it's completely lifeless..
I guess it is too much of a risk, I won't buy the thing

i had an Doc & Stefunnel's ROM v9.1.4, just the 3 button Combo doesn't work, so i've decided to repair it.
i didn't understand/misunderstand the RazvanG instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=821698
and install Raz-Fix-SGS.zip as update.zip in CWM and reboot the phone.
The phone is dead. The phone doesnt turn on, recovery mode doesnt work, download mode too. The unbrick with 301K Jig doesnt work too. Odin doesnt see my phone, i can't flash again bootloader, cause phone is just dead.. i dont know what to do. i know that i misunderstood the instrucion, and it is my fault, but i beg you to help me...
if recovery, download, and usb jig dont work, then your phone has passed away its an awful time and requires lots of grieving...
the best you can do is send back to samsung and blame it on an official kies update.
unless you have insurance ?
but what about rooting phone, and unbrand soft? when official service back it to life, they have to flash new official rom? will they know, that i had unbrand soft and rooted phone?
am i the first person who kill SGS? or someone has the same problem?
if it wont turn on or go into any mode at all, i dont know if samsung them self will bring it to life. even if they do its in such state it wont work until a new rom is on it (which they will do) then they would never know. (i think)
can someone confirm that?
Hey mate, for some moths ago, i did a soft brick my phone, i could not get ito Daonload, recovery mod.. using 3 button combo, so i send it back to Samsung for repear, and hopeful thay fixed my phone, but thay said to me, that if i brick my phone again thay will not repar it for free. my phone was rooted but i had Stock Rom 2.2. But thay never said anything about that i had rooted the phone.
So mabye Samsung will fix it for you. if thay dont want to fix it, tray to pay som dollars and thay will mabye fix it.
Good luck mate, and sry for ur phone.

but you wrote, that you can't get into Download and Recovery using 3 button combo, my SGS can't get into Download and recovery even with 301k jig. Your phone work normally and You just can't open recovery and download mode? My is off all the time
can someone confirm that?
The answer is you have broken your phone and your warranty.
Only a service centre can deal with it .
Will they find its been misused and charge you unlikely but not improbable .
Take it in then if they say you are naughty boy and its going to cost xxx then your choice to pay or walk away .
jje
haha well said.. MR.FROG YOU HAVE BEEN A NAUGHT NAUGHTY BOY !!!!
What was the outcome? Did they charge you?
I would guess not...if they had charged him he would have been back complaining about it.
If his phone was dead as they say, likely they just flashed it immediately or swapped it for a new one. I agree that in that circumstance I would be hard pressed to think how they would know he had rooted or modded the phone.
Personally i feel the best way to handle that situation is to go to your local proved rather then Samsung and just play dumb. They are far less likely to dig deep to see what the trouble is, especially if you are upset and holding up the line. They will just flash/replace and move on...especially if you have insurance on it.
Personally I feel the best way to handle that situation is to man up and take the consequences for f*cking up your phone. Get it fixed, and pay the repair costs.
I would say that you should go and try it at a Samsung support store. If they don't want to or can't repair your phone then I'm sorry for you.
But at least try it even if you have to pay.

Was that through the Samsung repair center in Texas?
Hello
On our auction portal someone sells Galaxy S. He says, it was ok, but after unsuccessfull flashing it stopped working. After switching on it shows only "logo". Is it destroyed or should I buy it and use some tools to flash new system?
My experiences starts and ends with flashing custom Rom´s to Touch HD. Will I be capable of repairing it? It is very cheap, so I would buy it if it is so...
Thank you
if the phone shows any sign of life it can be fixed
if the phone doesnt light up / screen turn on and just acts dead. then it is.
if you can get it cheap enough go for it, get a jig flash stock rom and sell on for a profit
some people dont know how to fix bricked phones so they just assume its fcuked and get rid of it

First of all sorry for my bad English,I'm not a native. It happened when I was flashing back from i9000 rom to stock rom (I have no idea that it will brick my phone).I can't turn on my phone all I've got is black screen nothing shown up,no phone ! computer sign or Galaxy S logo.I've tried a several method to unbrick my phone but there is no luck for me.While I was trying to figured it out,my phone heated up like when you using it for a long time.Is there still a chance to get my phone back to work.I can't send it back to at&t,I'm not in the U.S.A.
Thanks

Will JIG really do the job ? I read some treads about this and it said JIG won't work if there are no phone!computer sign or galaxy S logo appear
anyway thanks for the help
Wouldn't hurt to try and you can make one for so cheap!
So...you get absolutely nothing out of it just a black screen and it heats up when plugged in, sounds like a brick to me. I'd still give a jig a try since they are easy to make and the parts are cheap, only when you try it take the battery out reinsert it, DO NOT PRESS ANY BUTTONS, insert jig, then hold both volume buttons. If that doesn't work it's a brick. You can go directly through samsung for a warranty replacement. Never have to even have an at&t contact. depending on how you aquired the device they might replace it they might not. it might be iffy if you bought it used on ebay. Don't mention anything about a custom rom, say it happened using kies. If they don't replace it, go to mobiletechvideos.com he can jtag it for 50 u.s. Dollars plus shipping...

Hey everyone
I'm a bit lost as to how to get started with fixing my hard bricked phone. It occured when flashing a leaked JB rom and now won't turn on, not even in Download mode.
I'm in Australia but bought my phone in Malaysia so the local Samsung shop is refusing to repair it without replacing the main PCB. They advised that a repair would be possible without the hardware replacement, but it would be illegal for them to perform because of issues relating to the IMEI (WTF?).
I haven't been able to get any response out of the phone. The battery was very low when I flashed (terrible move, I know), is it possible that the battery now isn't charging and this is why I'm not able to go into Download mode? I have a few mates with the same phone so I could potentially try a charged battery in it...
All up - I'm guessing that I have to manually write to the EMMC.... Is this just a matter of obtaining a JIG cable and using Odin? I'd like to avoid opening the phone up, but I can do if it's my only option.
Cheers in advance

I'm assuming you only get an LED? ,If you are suffering Erase Cap there is very little that can be done at the stage you're at.
All information regarding Ecap can be found in that thread.
You may say hello in there and get somebody far wiser than me to pick it up..
Thanks for the suggestions guys.
Unfortunately the phone is completely unresponsive (although it does warm up when plugged in!)
I'm guessing it's the EMMC bug rearing it's ugliest form and it now needs me to bit a JIT kit to rewrite to it directly... but it'll take me weeks to learn up on that and get the parts...
I'm guessing I need one of these bad boys to proceed:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/RIFF-Box...ltDomain_0&hash=item25755f5616#ht_15039wt_909
Can anyone confirm/deny/comment? I'm gonna go out and grab myself an Ideos X5 to hold me over, but would love to go back to my Galaxy Note.
Leaked JB rom from where did you get that
Actually there is no leaked jb rom
Try using jig to enter download mode
Before flashing what ROM and Kernel are you on?

Sorry to learn about your mishap. I suggest you should not waste money on RIFFBOX as there is little chance you will be able to revive your device in the condition it is, and if you are not into electronics, and don't have hands on experience of soldering (i mean really thin wires), this will be useless for you. I am telling this from my experience as I have same bricked note with me. Had it jtagged, but could not get it revived because the bootloader in eMMC is damaged, so the only option is to replace eMMC, which is physically impossible without sophisticated high tech machinery, or to replace the motherboard carrying eMMC chip. That is not available anywhere (not even on eBay last I checked), except Samsung Service Center, and at least in my country, they are charging like USD400 for the motherboard. I read in another thread here (cannot find it now) that it cost another guy about US$200 for the same thing else where (I think it was in India).
How much are they charging for motherboard replacement? I think you should go for this option as even if somehow you get your note revived without mb replacement, it is highly likely you'll still end up with partially damaged eMMC chip.
how did you know that it s the emmc brick?, i have my phone hardbricked before when i tried to use swap partition, and i get no responce from the phone also, i though it was the emmc brick bug, but i get it worked only with jtag, and costed me around 20$ only, and it wasn't the emmc brick, it was hardbrick but without emmc chip corruption.
the only way the emmc brick ocures is by:
wiping or formatting while on unsafe kernel
any thing else isn't emmc brick, and i think this your condition, you have to try jtag dear.
Thanks for the responses guys It's much appreciated.
I've ordered myself a little USB JIG, will see how that goes and proceed from there!
Emmc big is still present in the note 2 with jelly bean?

So i have a S3 mini VE, and i was flashing a stock firmware on my phone suddenly the USB cable disconnected during the process (ODIN) now when i try to turn on the phone, it doesn't come on at all. the only way to get the phone on is to charge it (AC). but it goes into loop every 5 seconds. So when i take the battery outta the phone and then plug the charger in. It shows this message (See below) but won't go into loop. It's seriously weird. The button combo are fully dead.
So basically i can't get into the phone i tried every method, even tried USB JIG from eBay. i seriously don't know what's going on with the phone, i need help fixing this issue.
has this happened to anyone else?
Button combo (DEAD)
Flashing with ODIN (DEAD)
Download Mode (DEAD)
Recovery Mode (DEAD)
Connecting to PC (DEAD)
So i've done all this, so please don't tell me to do these again i've done em
Thanks!
Same problem
Man! How I understand you!
Recently I came up with a similar problem only with my Huawai Ascend mate 7. Even though I am able to connect the device in FASTBOOT mode and flash the recovery It just won't boot into it because there probably some mess up have happened to the device's partitions So in particular it is Hard bricked.
Reading a bit here about a hard bricking I think our best bet is to send the device to an Authorized service center. And what they can do is basically two things, first is use some so called "Hardware tool" to force the ROM re-flash. This is an ideal solution for us and ( as the Warranty is not applicable to our phones anymore) in this case we will pay less money, but we still have to . The other solution might be to replace the "Chip" or entire "Motherboard" and which might cost an arm and a leg. I am not sure it worth it then, maybe buying a new phone better and just sell this one for spares.
Anyway I am waiting for solution for me for some more time and then I will contact some authorized Huawei Service here in my City.
Haha better of just selling our device, i know for a fact i won't be able to fix it coz i tried everything i could, even USB JIG. Also tge repair service i seen will cost me around $30 which my phone is worth around that price. So im just gonna sell it off or i might just wait for couple of days to find a solution...
