[Q] Kernel with CWM for JQ8 - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Which kernel with cwm recovery is fully compatibile with JQ8 Android 2.3.6? Now I'm on stock kernel, which came with ROM and rooted with superoneclick. But I need cwm to backup my current rom, because I want to try ICS and then return to JQ8.

You have to Root your device first. after getting Root + CWM
you can flash to Rocket ROm using CWM.

[Q] Please help for CWM.

I had a stock Gingerbread running on my P1000 and then, after following instructions from threads here and there,I installed a custom rom of CM 9.0.0 RC1 successfully.
During my installation,I flashed the kernel with odin 1.7 to install CWM on my tab.
Now,I want to use Pandroid Android ROM for jellybean in my tab.
My question is do I need to install CWM with odin again to install a new rom?
I did create a backup of my current ROM but i am unsure whether I need to install CWM with odin to proceed the installation of the Pandroid ROM.
Thanks in advance
No, from cm9 just boot to your current cwm and flash the new Rom.

Thanks again!

[Q] Stock Rom for Samsung I9070

I recently installed cocore kernel and flashed a custom Rom without backing up the stock Rom. now I want to revert back to stock Rom. where can I find the stock Rom? I don't want the stock kernel. I want the stock Rom.
thank you.
Download it on sammobile.com and flash it with Odin. Unfortunately you will lose everything on your phone and will have to root it again and reinstall CoCore kernel.
Or, you can try to flash a deodex rom (there are links on Frapeti's thread) using CWM recovery.
Good luck!

Custom jb over stock gb possible?

Hi guys...I flashed d original gb 2.3 firmware for note..can I flash a CUSTOM 4.1.2 over stock gb widout flashing stock jb firmware???
Yes but to flash a custom JB rom, you will need Cwm or twrp recovery. So you will need to root first and then change then kernel which has a custom recovery.

[Q] Do I have to root before CM?

I want to flash one of the Maclaw's Custom Roms.
I saw there were download links for Odin. So I thought I don't need Clockworkmod Recovery.
Does it mean I don't need to flash Rooted Stock Firmware before flashing CM with Odin?
You don't need a rooted device for flash CM because CM is after flash already rooted
