[Q] Sound Problems After CM7.1 flash - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys
I recently flashed my Samsung Galaxy S2 and installed cm7.1 with the nightly build 08/12/2011.
Everything works great except when I call people, I sound like I am underwater and have to shout to be heard. Even then, I still sound far away. I can clearly hear the people I am speaking to but they cant hear me.
I do not experience same problem when I use skype.
Please help

There is no 8/12/2011 nightly, maybe you mean the KANG posted in this forum.
You could try different things, from installing an official nightly first, wipe datas etc. I have that Kang too and i dont experience that problems.
Oh wait... SGS2 ? this is SGS forum...

Thanks I shall post in the right foru

Best\Most Stable Rom?

Hi i just bought a new Hp touchpad.
I want to know what is the best rom for it.
I know that there are cyanogen 7 and 9 ports.
There are things that are not working on some of them , so if cynogen 7 is working and stable i think i would install that and wait for cyanogen 9 to become stable.
Can you give some advice , what to do , which rom shoud i install.
Thank you , and sorry if this is a noob question
CM9 alpha 2, its stable and actually running better than cm7
There are also several "kang" builds in the Dev section. I've been running CherryKang lately, with good results.
Thans guys , so have you had any problems with these roms?
Except the camera are there some other quirks?
And do you know how long is the period between releases ?
Thanks again

The cherryrom still doesn't have Netflix working but has HD YouTube working (it states that in his top post). The nightlies have everything working from alpha2 with only a couple changes that will be merged into the next official release anyways. The cornerstone ROM is really slow and bricked ROM hasn't seen public releases after alpha2. And there's protekk's AOKP and classnerd, neither have Netflix working either.
I say go for the nightly. And I guess development has slowed because everyone is waiting on dalingrin for new stuff. I'm guessing the kernel is going to be updated to 3.0 and or they're working on audio.
Samsung Captivate CM9 - Glitch Kernel | HP TouchPad CM9 - Bricked Kernel
I honestly haven't tried Netflix (I guess it's not working), and only a few games. There are a few notable ones that don't work, but for normal stuff it's all good. The main problem that I've had with CM (I've only used CM9 and skipped CM7), is that the TP will essentially lock up, often times when charging on the touchstone charger. That said, ever since upgrading to the latest CherryKang (0.9), I haven't had a single issue (knock on wood). I have tried Bricked and the official CM9 alpha and both did the same thing, so I think it's just a Cm issue (there are a few similar issues going around, it seems).
Go for AOKP.
M4 has working netflix and youtube.
I personally haven't found a rock solid rom , but there are a few that are really close to it. I'd say try the new cherry-kang v9.2 with o/c , HD youtube' + netkflix etc. Syn(3.10.2012). Its fast and reliable. I have to reset my Wi-Fi the least with this one.
I'm running aokp and nextflix and YouTube work no problem for me

I'd have to agree with the above post, the latest CherryKang (standard cm9 version, not the bricked rom) has proven the most stable for me. Unless you expect to be using the camera/microphone a great deal on the TouchPad, I would definitely suggest taking the jump to CM9.
I did just flash the Cornerstone 1.1 rom w/ 120 DPI patch, and although there have been a couple of very minor glitches, it's performing fairly well so far. (I was forced to reboot my TP-audio distortion- and my wifi reconnected without me having to use the forget the network/reboot rescue method. I haven't personally tried the AOKP Milestone 4 rom, so you might want to check out that thread and decide for yourself.
As for your question on release dates, other than the nightlies, they come out whenever the developer has something new to put out. Since I've been following these forums, it's generally taboo to openly ask a developer for the next release date. Doing so may make you susceptible to verbal reprimand from other members. Personally I'm not blasting you, but I don't want to see someone else fire back at you in a more harsh manner in the future.
Good luck with whichever rom you decide to flash!
HTC Thunderbolt - Shifts3ns3 3.1; HP Touchpad CherryKang v9.2;
I've recently been running AOKP M4 with great results, I like it
CyanogenMod 9 Alpha 2 is also fantastic
I wouldn't really suggest any others though.
I have cm9 on mine and Wifi doesn't reconnect a lot after waking from sleep. Ill check out this cherry one I guess.

I'd vote for AOKP. Its running really well on my touchpad.

[Q] Best rom for our SGM

Hello guys,
Greetings from Lithuania. I tried like 10 roms and I did not like any of them, they're just not stable enough, or if it's stable, something isn't working and etc. So I'm guessing if there is any stable roms, with queit everything working, don't care about that native wifi and usb tether or something like that. The rom should have a lot of tweaks, music mostly, I'd like to have good sound quality. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1972961 this appears to be perfect, but it's for samsung galaxy mini plus, I tried to install it without knowing it's for plus and almost bricked my honey. I don't know if I was doing something wrong or is it really for plus. So suggest me a good working rom.
I saw some topics like this, but these were old.
Thanks, Linas.
Very good rom

[Q] xperia T official cm10.1

hi guys, I really searched a lot on the web but couldn't find the answer to my question..
I was thinking to buy this phone, and as I love cm (10.1), I was looking if this phone is well supported.. it seems so, in fact I see on cm website xperia t has stable cm10 and almost stable cm10.1.. (RC4)
http://www.get.cm/?device=mint&type=RC
what I couldn't find anywhere is what is still not working... just to be sure if I buy the phone I won't have big troubles or miss some important things I often use.. only thing I could find on the web about known problems on xperia t + cm is this from codeworks website:
"The next round of nightly builds will bring support for the Xperia T, V, Z and ZL.
Unofficial builds are around for some time via Freexperia, but now these devices are officially supported.
Everything seems to be working except video recording (little audio issue) and hdmi out.
Both issues should be fixed soon."
so only problems seemed audio in video recording and hdmi, but this info is dated 13/Apr, so I don't know if these problems have been fixed already or not.. can you please help? where could I look to see the current pending problems on xperia t running cm10.1?
thanks a lot in advance guys!

thanks for the reply, I did see those thread.. but they are related to FreeXperia Project, while I am speaking of official cm10.1.. and I thought they were two different things!
Also, the sentence by codeworkx (I'm attaching below again) seemed to confirm that!
"Unofficial builds are around for some time via Freexperia, but now these devices are officially supported."
so now is not so clear to me.. to answer my doubts (pending issues on xperia t running official cm10.1) should I write on the FXP thread or somewhere else?
thanks anyway bye!
All questions threads should be in the Q&A section, but since there already is a CM thread there shouldn't have been a thread at all.
THREAD CLOSED.

Audio not working in recording

Hello everyone.
I recently rooted my phone and flashed cyanogenmod 11 nightlies. Everything is working pretty well but there's this : audio is not working when recording a video neither than audio during video hangouts.
Tried four nightlies and no evolution.
I have not found any post on that subject. Is this a known bug or am I the only one who experienced it ?
Thanks for your replies and pardon my writing, not my native langage and redacted on phone
Sent from my Xperia Z1 using xda app-developers app
There is a bug in your ROM.
Nightly build is for developers, not daily use.
Just download stable version or you can check Fast and beatiful ROMs better than CM in Android development section of Xperia Z1.
I'm aware that it may be a bug and that nightlies can have bugs like this.
Despite that, I have always flashed cyanogenmod roms on my phone since CM7.
There is no stable release at the moment on Z1. So, the nightly being buggy I got that. Not a problem.
My question was is it a bug or is my phone defective since no one seems to have this problem in any post on XDA.
Seems very strange that people would complain over display behaviour, sound too low, that kind of stuff but no one notices they have no sound in the clips they record with the camera.
Maybe have I made a mistake at some point, maybe it has to do with the unlocking of the bootloader ?

[Q] CM11 Nightly: InCall volume question

Hello everybody,
so now this is my first posting.
I took an advantage on ebay to get me a near new I9000 for a low price. I was interested to see how Android smartphones
work, what is inside and how to customize.
In between time and after reading much about ROM's and Kernels and so on i decided to go for the CyanogenMod ROM by pawitp.
When i finally got my I9000 to my surprise it was already rooted and had a CM11 flavor onboard.
So i took the chance and made a backup and did a full wipe etc.. and got the latest Nightly (2014_04_22) and the gaaps up
and running quite nicely.
No problems so far.
Everything is fine except the in-call volume on the handset.
Speaker volume and headset volume seem quite o.k. and are manageable through DSP Manager .
However, the earpiece volume is maxed-out but still much lower than on my stock S3 mini, which was given to me by my employer.
Stock and beyond any rooting or so...understandable?
So i read a lot and tried various apps (one after the other) (Voodoo sound, Volume+ to name two) as recommended here.
No avail. Volume of the earpiece seems to be quite a different beast.
What i did not try, and hopefully will not have to, are Meltus Volume hacks or manipulating values by the service codes.
So, does anybody have an idea if the CM11 will get around this problem one day or the other?
I do not want to use another ROM nor do i feel i want another Kernel to mix with.
Perhaps this thread is obsolete, so please put me into the right direction if so.
Or, maybe someone who is allowed to do so can transport this Q into the ROM thread of pawitp.
Thank you all for you attention and have a nice day.

It might be the highest limit to the i9000 (It's an old phone, at least appreciate it for even running). However, I suggest you do change your ROM once, just to check if it is a problem with your ROM. If you do change, I suggest trying Paranoid Android or OmniROM. At times, the Kernel might also make a change. If again you do want to change your Kernel, I suggest Semaphore 3.4.3 or Mackay Kernel
Hit Thanks if I helped!

Thank you for the answer.
Sure: You are right it is an "old" phone.
And i appreciate the work of the volunteers to keep it up and running.
Hopefully i will find the time during the next days to follow your advice.
Maybe i will even try to go back to stock and check how the phone behaves in it's original environment.
At the moment i am puzzled by another problem. I miss FM radio so much.
Seems as if this feature is missing in a whole lot of ROMs because of massive changes of the "ekosystem" to put it in my words.
But this is not the thread for that. I have to read and learn a lot.
Again, thank you.
Regards,
Frank

About the Radio thing, I think you can download another Radio app like this one. If that doesn't work, I'm guessing then Radio might be disabled in your ROM. Semaphore has the option of enabling or disabling FM Radio.

Yes.
I went back to the stable release CM10.2 .
Somewhere on the internet i found a free beta from Spirit2 and installed it just for a test.
It did not run smooth but i could grab FM and listen by speaker and headphones.
What made me nervous is the "speaker damage" disclaimer...
As for the in-call volume: With 10.2 it seems to be louder.
Headphones and speaker are fine but earpiece (or handset?) still is a bit quiet for to use in noisy environments.
But anyway. Before taking further action i test a while.
I want to use this phone as a private phone when i am on commissioning jobs. I often work at industrial sites and since i am not allowed
to make any private calls off my companies' S3 mini i thought it was a good idea to carry a relatively cheap and reliable smartphone
with me.
Besides the academical aspect to know what makes a smartphone work i want a useful and stable operating system without any bloatware.
I will keep in touch with the CM11 thread and from time to time check if they finally achieve a stable release.
Maybe a shoot a second SGS off ebay just to look after OMNI ROM as you suggested.
By now i will stay with the CM10.2 and see if it is stable.
And yes, i am going to root my wifes's Xperia Pro

Running OMNI KitKat for now with nightly build.
That is a really nice ROM with a smooth feel and just as customizable as a an average user with passion for android can manage.
So thank you, Gokulbalram for the hint.

I need one cellphone for "productive use". Means that is has to work.
So to try something, and run the risk of having software or hardware problems for a few days, i need another device.
Plus it is nice to see how official CM11 and official OMNI CM11 compete.
At the moment i would say that OMNI is a little bit upfront. I am going to ask my son to put his SIM card to
it and try out and see if it is stable.
