Hi
I am currently running MIUI version 1.12.9 but cannot seem to download anything using 3G connection. It keeps telling me to use wifi as the download size is too large, can't even download from the market. Is thrir a way to turn this off, as it is seriously annoying.

there is an app on MIUI called "Downloads" open it up then in the bottom bar you will see this text "Download using Wi-Fi" just uncheck that option and your problem is gone
Sorted mate, found the option and its working fine now.

Any way at all to keep browser open in background so that I can lock it and have something streaming still? I've been listening to radio 1 from the BBC and I always have to keep it unlocked and have the browser open....

You using it over wifi? Its probably the wifi going to sleep. Try changing its sleep policy (settings-> wireless -> wifi settings -> menu -> advanced
No just while driving around on 3g. I wanna stream a show in the browser and be able to be on my home screen.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
the phone is probably going to sleep. I guess the browser isnt able (by design) to keep the phone awake.
You might be better off with a internet radio app?
Yeah I wanna be able to have the browser stay open and stream when I go to check a text. I figure people. Would want to know how to do this since we have flash now ya know? Trying to find an app now..
We'll see.

I think its a battery saver. Unless u mod the browser its unlikely u'll find a simple solution.
I thought beebplayer did radio too?
also there's an app called UKRadio that should work too
I'm trying to stream bbcs radio one. Well the shows that are available from the previous week that is.

Beebplayer worked like a charm for streaming radio and putting the phone to sleep. Not used it since installing FroYo but have the .apk on my PC. I might try it tomorrow and see if it works.
beebplayer radio streaming works in froyo (frf91). Works in background while you do other things, etc. It's discontinued now but I have the .apk if anyone wants it. Just pm me your email.
It's better than the official bbc option (which means you can't turn off your screen, reply to a message/email without it closing).
Skyfire allows me to keep any stream going on play in the background even after I go to home screen!!!! Thanks for the help though.

Is there an app that will allow me to trick apps into downloading on 3g instead of wifi?
Gameloft apps require an extra download for installed games but will only download over wifi, i have no wifi access atm so i'd like to download over 3g instead.

Yes, the wifi button...
Not a rom development issue.
ive read of people not being able to update or download google maps. my problem with it is almost every time i download an app from the market google maps downloads instead. or it tires to update. and the app i intended to download does nothing as if i never clicked on it to download in the first place and clicked google maps instead. its like maps just takes over and decides that its going to do what it wants. wtf is the deal?
are you on stock JF6 or what?
oh sorry. i guess some info wouldve helped. im running serendipity 6.4

hmmm.. i used to run that ROM and i had that problem on the first boot. after that however it went away after i just went to into the market and cancelled the download. As far as the apps not downloading after you press them, i feel like thats a market app issue.. have you tried reflashing to an earlier version of serendipity?
Im on 6.4 and have had no issues with the market or google maps. I have always flashed a freash nand if things start getting funky.

Ive been using serendipity since out was released. I noticed this happening a few versions back. Maybe since around 6.0. this my second flash of 6.4 cuz I had a brief stint with another rom and had the same issue there.

The map problem is related to GB ROMs.
The last update on the market for google map will make it take control and restart on its own.
Even if you close it in your running services, it will actually prompt restart before closing = never closes and drains your battery.

For me it says free when I go to myapps in market. Once installed it is fine.
For me, in my apps it says installed.and that's it.it will still hijack my other app downloads and download itself again..

I completely removed it. And my massive power drain stopped at the same time??
On gr-12, previously serendipity 6.4 no problems with both

Buh-bye maps, you will not be missed.
Hello free ram and much better battery life.
Autostars app should take care of the problem of Maps restarting at will.
Google Maps
FYI: Turning off "Use Wireless Networks" in the Location and Security setting appears to keep MAPS from loading in the background, thereby saving some battery. Keeps you from completely deleting the app.
My two cents.
Was browsing the Evo 4G boards and ran across an .apk for the Netflix app on that just released recently. You cant install from the marketplace link, because this app wasnt "technically made for the HD2". But the program works and runs great for me when installing from the .apk listed on that forum.
I'm running Android: Ladyboo MIUI by the way. Test it out. thanks

Will not stream. Opens up stream and then forces back to the main screen

I saw on the market feed back section that someone with a HD2 has it and is running fine. But I have a HD2 and I am not able to download it now is it on the list. How do you think he was able to get it?

I think it may have to do with whatever core build you are using. The NexusHD2 build for example will more than likely get it but Typhoon CM7 does not. But I was able to install locally and it works now for me.
Will this work for a HD2 Desire Z Nand Zip Rom?

Yes sir, installed and started up just fine.
Nice, I will load it when I get to my pc. Unless theres a way to do it to the root file from my phone.
Yeah just come here with your phone browser (or the XDA app) and download right to your phone, any file manager will install it once you have it on your sdcard

Anyone have any idea what could cause this and possibly how to fix? I just tried reinstalling and power cycling the phone. I also tried to disable mobile network and use WiFi. No luck. When it starts to play the video I see the pause button and the time bar then they disappear and it goes back to the netflix home screen.

How do I install that package? Would I go to the bootloader menu and open the zip file from there and then launch my rom?

Within the Google now weather card there is a settings tab on the right, directly across from your location name (3 dots) ....under "weather location" what do you have checked?

Hmmmm, Are you stock? Custom rom? If so what rom? Are all location settings on (uses more battery)? How far is your work from your home? Do you spend significant time at home/ work? How much have you used your phone at home/work to search location related things or stuff with maps? How long have you been using Now? Basically Google now is guessing where home is and work is based on typical patterns for most people (ie work is 9-5ish etc). The more you use Google location based services (search and maps) the more accurate it should become. Sorry for all the questions.
For what it's worth my experience has been hit and miss (though I'm in Canada and that might have something to do with it)

Not sure either...perhaps it has something to do with the last update? I have had issues with it lately as well but I updated to a jellybean rom around the same time as the Google now update came out and was thinking it might be rom related but maybe it was the update... I don't know if uninstalling the updates from settings/apps would make a difference or not, I haven't tried that yet .
Just tried that. Doesn't fix it either. Ugh
