[Q] How to get Angry Birds Space to run well

Does anybody know of a way to get Angry Birds Space to run well? It is the only app that stutters and hangs quite often on my Captivate. I usually have to pull my battery because my phone completely locks up if I launch it and try playing it.
which rom are you using im using Doc masters and it runs smooth for me
Im using Legend 3.7 and RFS filesystem
AOKP build 31 bigmem. runs butter smooth for me

Nostalgia ICS - no probs whatsoever with Space Angry Birds.
I guess it could be something I have running in the background then since all of those other roms work fine with it.
Edit: It looks like you are all running ICS roms, im not.
You could overclock or just change the way your processor is being used like setting to lagfree or something like that
Decraptivated Samsung
Got the exact setup Legend 3.7 on rfs runs fine. might be an app killing your ram.
I have 66 of 329MB free RAM. What are you guys at?
I'm at 221 of 329 =108
Sorry for the stupid question, but how are you all at 329 usable RAM? I am running Legend 3.7 with corn 7.06 and under Running Services i'm only totaling 277
Runs fine on Slim. I've found everything runs better for me on ICS ROMs.

329 is what Android System Info (the app) is showing for Max Ram. Running Services shows me a total of 238MB (used+free).

How do the ICS roms handle the buttons along the bottom? Do they get ignored for the new on scsreen ones?

Nope they work like they always did on Samsung roms. You can choose whether or not you want the on screen ics buttons or not, but the regular buttons ALWAYS work fine . You should upgrade to ICS, I can even play temple run without any lag (always lagged on Samsung TouchWiz roms to a certain point). Try Cyanogenmod 9 or AOKP.
It works just fine over here on miui gb with glitch kernel overclocked to 1.3 ghz, and also had no issues on previous gb roms. As a previous poster advised you so will I, if ur facing lag be sure to clear ram before running the game and ultimately overclock if lag persist, also try out different kernels (talon, dark core, xcal's).

I switched from samurai to Corn 3.6 to see if that would help but havent had a chance to test it (maybe this weekend).
Edit: Its no better with Corn 3.6

Sry to hear, btw the latest corn it's at vs 7.06 so be sure to try that, look for it in the development section. Also in cwm recovery corn should have a tweak option setting, and within tweaks u can overclock, or just grab voltage control app from the market to make the necessary changes.
edit:
To be sure I just checked how much ram the game uses while running ,holy crap, it needs 100 mb
So I'm pretty sure that ur facing lag due to lack of ram (stop running and also cached procceses in the task manager to free up ram).

The rom has nothing to do with the amount of ram, it's all kernel. U are probably on talon's bigmem kernel.
Slim ICS 3.2, very smooth, not lag.
On ICS, i don't need to care how much free RAM which I have.

Temple Run performance?

Hi,
I used to play Temple Run on boype's CM and the game was smooth, sometimes laggy in the first 2 games but after that it ran smoothly.
Now I'm on Zeus 6.39o and the game lags, not a lot but also not playable for this kind of games.
I wish that everyone post their experience with the game and how to make it smoother if possible.

Default CPU settings. 300-1000 MHz and no voltage tweak, i mean "0". But at 1350 MHz it launches smoother and faster but not quite different from 1000 mhz.
In mine just first 2-3 sec of first game lags , otherwise its smooth. i am using Stock V20s with diana kernel.
runs perfectly smooth with FOP CM9 Nightly6 without even close the apps in background
i have the latest v20g stock rom on which temple run doesnt lag at all

Ram or cpu

While using a ics or jb the o.s eats up all the ram but we do have swap to get enough of extra ram required so if we use swap with a good class sd card, is the ram usage still a fact that affects the performanceof these Rom.. Or its just our x8's cpu then, that degrads the performance..

it is not problem only cpu,ram we have slow I/O
so if you set up swap on good sdcard it probably will still lag
Swap is not working as you think, your phone wont have more ram. Swap is like windows page file.

I have experimented with swappiness, and if I did set it to 0, it didn't swap, even when it was very needed (and that is surprising because it should use swap in case of low RAM, even with 0 swappiness). Apps were closing instead, and the whole system was unstable because of low RAM.
When I set it to 100, it began to swap. It became stable but it was slow because it swapped out a lot of things (it had always 70-80 MB free memory).
So I think setting swappiness to 50 or 60 is ideal (I didn't try it), because it will be stable and fast at the same time.
I made some script files for setting swappiness to 0, 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100, tell me if anyone needs them, and I will upload them.
Also using zRam with normal swap, and 50 swappiness might be a good thing too.
ICS and JB lag on our devices due to both the weaker cpu and less ram.
But if we had around 512 mb ram, ics and jb would run smoother with 600mhz cpu too..
so according to me the ram factor is the one which makes ics and jb lag on our phones.
And about swap, it works only when the ram is below 5-10mb.
so i think that it does not helps us much...

But with a higher swappiness you can get at least 60 MB free RAM. Nevermind, it doesn't make ics and jb run smoother. But it's like not the low RAM causes those roms to run slowly. I am using MiniCM7 with 128 MB compcache and it is very smooth, smoother than using normal swap, even when playing very heavy games. And on jb and ics no matter if i use swap or zRAM (128 MB), it stays slow.

How did you make 128 mb zRAM?

[Q] What's your quadrant score on JB based roms ??

Quadrant score do matter 4 those who play games ......Have noticed it from quite a long time ( The only rom in which Quadrant score didn't matter was Black Cna v2.1 ) ...... For me now games run real smooth as silk, Asphalt 7 + Real racing 3 with just few lags !! I love this team union rom V5 + No name OC Gpu Kernel v0.87.2 !! Yeah but battery drain is superb ....... Battery won't run for quite long as Cpu and Gpu Both are OC'd !!

[Q] how to increase s advance ram by swap partion?

Hi iam new here
I have s advance with android 4.1.2 stock rom and with cocore e 6.2 kernal
The problem is I like playing games on my phone like asphalt 8 but sometimes it lags and
Crash because of low free ram , the used ram is about 515 . So I heard about a method to increase
Ram capacity by swap partion . So I was wondring if this method works on my phone ? and will it
Make Games run faster and wont make any problems to the phone ?
Please respond
Thanx
AFAIK those things are for phones with only 512 MB (or less) RAM.. I also heard that using your external SD card as ram for long time can damage it. But I don't know if that's true...
Like many other latest games, Asphalt 8 is a very "heavy" game.. so it requires newer and better hardware.. our phone's GPU can't handle this game with ease so that's why it lags... so its not only because of RAM, its also because of the GPU and CPU.. so I don't think it will make any drastic increase in performance or fps..
Take a look at CoCore's thread.. I think Cocafe mentioned how to use zRam and Swap using init.d scripts..
PS: Use a good Custom ROM with the latest version of CoCore kernel.. version 6.2 is quite old.. or use CM ROMs...

Thanks for replaying . not only asphalt 8 lags but also some other games like sonic dash and temple run ..etc
And I downloaded and installed cocore e 8 it made my battry runs out fast so installed cocore 6.2 which saves battry .
And idont know alot about custom roms but you may tell me the best one and has no bugs .
CM 10.2 latest build is very good. Extremely stable. Battery is decent, still less than satisfactory. No bugs AFAIK . No random reboots. No force closes. Games that work very smoothly - temple run (all versions),subway surfers, dead trigger 1 & 2 ,GTA vice city.
Asphalt 8 lags when started but settles down afterwards and works decently.
P.S. - Don't judge your phone performance on basis of used RAM. Jelly bean is supposed to use more RAM.
Hope I helped.
