[Q] No Sound When Receiving Calls - LG Revolution

Hello,
This is my first time posting so forgive me I'm a noob at posting.I am having an issue with my Revo not ringing when receiving incoming calls. It will only vibrate but no sound. I'm somewhat a noob at this but somewhat feel I know what I'm doing. Anyways, my phone will play all notification sounds ie: new messages, alarms and all notifications will work fine except when I receive a phone call. I recently downloaded BAC, Boot Animation Changer and was playing with the sound binary files and think I may have deleted something in that area. I have no idea what else it may be as I have checked all my settings and everything is correct. Please any help would be greatly appreciated as I am missing all my calls!!!
Thanks,

Check and make sure that you have notifications for calls on. If you do and it still doesn't work then just reflash GV1.3 and wipe cache and dalvik and you will be good. This "should" fix anything you may have messed up in the system files

Thank you for such a quick reply!!!
I have checked all settings for sound notifications, reflashed GV1.3 and even did a complete system/data wipe in CWM recovery and started over but with no luck.

I'm not 100% sure where it is but it is there somewhere. You can change the notification volume for alarms, notifications, and calls seperately you may have changed that too. A reflash and data wipe should have fixed for sure

Thanks again for your help, I have checked again all sound settings and they are all on. I will try another factory wipe and see if maybe this will work this time.
Thanks again for your help.

Stupid question but did you make sure you're selecting a ringtone after you flash? I'm not sure about Gingervolt but I know on builds of RevoltROM, flashing the ROM would default your ringtone to "Silent." If you haven't, go through Settings>Sound>Phone Ringtone and select a ringtone, then see if it goes off for you.

Hey, and to answer your question, yes I am making sure I select a ringtone after flashing. I did another factory wipe and it kept rebooting into gingervolt so I did a complete erase from inside the phone software and got stuck and keeps rebooting into CWM recovery, now that Im off from work and able to use a PC i am reflashing the VS910ZV7 tot using LGNPST and it is finaly back up and running. Thanks for all your help. I do appreciate it..

Try downloading volume control + from the market and check your volume settings there
Edit: I should have read through the entire post first, glad it is up and running for you again.

Thanks, that is what I had to do in the end. I had multiple issues when I did a factory reset either from within the settings or from CWM Recovery, even though I had multiple CWM Backups non which could restore it in working order.
Non the less I used LGNSP to flash a new V7 TOT and everything is good now. Thanks to all who replied and assisted.

Not Ringing Fix
My phone was not ringing for incoming calls despite checking volume settings, turning off google voice, removing call forwarding, trying different ringtones, and checking settings for individual contacts.
Turns out the fix was Settings--> Sound--> uncheck ERI sound (Enhanced Roaming Indication)

Audio output when in call

Can anyone help me?
First of all, I'm still on CM6.1 RC1 but I think my problem is related to RC2.
My problem is that for some reason, when I'm on a call and I DON'T have the speaker turned on, the audio STILL comes out the back speaker no matter what...so I either have to turn my phone around and put it to my ear, or just actually turn the speaker on so I can hear loud enough what they're saying.
A little background: This started happening after I got curious and flashed RC2 (i made nandroid backup prior to that, of course). But after around 20 minutes of playing with the new rom, I decided to restore to the previous version. That's when it started. I have reflashed my backup to see if that solved it but no luck.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
When you reverted to your backup, did you wipe everything?

Thanks for answering.
Honestly, I only wiped cache and dalvik the first time. But after I noticed the problem and reflashed my backup a second time, yes, that's when I wiped everything even factory reset but the problem is still there.
Well, that's all I got, sorry. Just thought I'd check because usually it's something simple like that. You might want to try using a completely different ROM, like MIUI and see if it's fine then, and then switch back to CM and see if the problem still persists. You may also try re-flashing the radio as well.

I tried all those things but the sound is still coming out from the back speaker when In call.
Any other suggestions anyone?
Anyone have another suggestion?
I'd really appreciate it.

Flashing new ROM appears to work but doesn't

I am new to flashing and so far with this forums help have made it to the point where I can get into the Clockwork recovery. I can select the downloaded ROM, flash it, and re-boot. When the phone reboots the original Froyo 2.2 is still there. However it's still there but missing a bunch of stuff. No martket app, etc.
Am I missing a step here?
TIA, Jeff
We don't know the steps your taking to know if you've missed one...
I suggest you download a different ROM and test it.
Good point sorry about that.
Download ROM (Firefly in this case)
Reboot into CWR
Select ROM file on the filesytem of the phone
Flashing goes thru its thing with no errors
When I reboot the system the result is as stated above

Did you download a full flash file? (1xx mb)
Also, you can rename the file to update.zip, place it in the root of your sd card (not in any file) and through cwm, reinstall package.
Thanks everyone for all the help. I FINALLY got a new ROM on this thing. I followed all the same steps as before but took the suggestion to try a new ROM. Since BWolf56 has a pretty prominent plug for Firefly 3.0 I installed that and it worked fine.
Thanks again.

Could you be more specefic? lol
To the left of the digital clock in the notification bar would be your battery then signal and left to it would be your data (3G / H).
Doh
The main reason that I went thru all this (and I am glad I did this is 100 times better than the stock ATT 2.2) was to get bluetooth voice dial..... And guess what? I get 'this feature is disabled on the connected phone' message. Should I have bluetooth voice dial with FF3 ?
I just noticed that the tethering option is disabled as well.......................

ForceROM & OUDHS are Fantastic!

I'm a newbie here, my 1st post so unable to post in the ForceROM thread. I have very little experience. On my last phone Photon 4G I only rooted so I could use the Wifi Tether app. The ForceROM is absolutely perfect for my needs, even in its 1st version. The included mods 4in1 restart menu and the Hotspot Mod are extremely useful! I have been rocking this ROM for the last 2 days without any issues! I love that it keeps the functionality of TW (I actually like TW and its notifications and menu bar with quick access to settings used everyday) and the S4 while removing all the unwanted Bloatware. I was easily able to follow the instructions given in the OUDHS thread to flash recovery via Odin then root via OUDHS recovery followed by flashing the ForceRom zip via recovery. There were only a few apps I wanted to install for which Unknownforce provided download links for all apps removed from Stock, which I was able to install via the system/apps directory. Great work here! You guys are great. Thanks!

Yeah when you flash new roms, you will most likely ALWAYS wipe Data, Cache, Delvik Cache [In this order] then flash ROM, Gapps, ect
Once I have flashed the rom I wipe data and cache again just because im used to doing that but I doubt you have to, reboot and you should be good

i backup everything on my phone to my computer just to be on the safe side
theres a wipe script up now, it will do everything for you and the oudhs recovery is my fav even over cwm! <3 i think cuz my fav color is grey lol and ya the forcerom is grate!
I've been using the ForceROM 1.0 for a while now and really like it too. When I first rooted the stock rom, I tried to get rid of a lot of bloat and some of it I couldn't. So I was glad to see it already done using ForceROM.
The only problem I have is the voicemail. It always says it's trying to verify my account but it never can. Anyone else having this issue?
hm no i am not having that issue at all, if you use sprint update the prl then the profile

Well this didn't seem to work. When I open the voicemail app, it sits there about 1 minute then finally gives me this error:
Communication with the Voicemail-to-Text server has timed out. We will continue to verify your Voicemail-to-Text account status in the background.
Voicemail service will not be interrupted while we verify the account status.
Also, when I check for updates in voicemail app, it errors out saying "General failure. Please try again at a later time."
Maybe I will try clearing cache and dalvik cache.
call sprint =) im not sure if u have to be subscribed to it or not
id wipe and reflash your setup ive never had a prob with the voicemail program its either something to do with your rom setup or its sprint

[Q] Which files/apps find & assign ringtones?

Well, thanks to this forum my skills are improving but I'm still messing up regularly ...
After flashing a stock ROM of Gingerbread 2.3.6, I went about removing the bloatware. Now my Ace only knows one ringtone (manic beeping, seems to be called "60") and my only option is to silence it. Screenshot attached.
Does anyone know what I've deleted, but shouldn't have? I removed the native 'Music' app - that's not it, is it?

I think you deleted the audio files so...
go to system/media/audio/ringtones and check your audio files

If only it were that simple! Ringtone files are still there - some .m4a tunes in sdcard/media/audio/ringtones/ and .ogg ones in system/media/audio/ringtones For some reason, it either isn't looking for ringtones or doesn't know where they are.

LOL!!
Do a backup and then restore the last configuration which it was working properly. Be careful with the stuffs you'are going to delete XDDD
The fastest way to barebone any stock rom is flashing Stocklite rom, in my opinion, plus deleting more useless apps such as Gapps, default browser, twwallpapers, animated walls, useless widgets...

Just had a look at this thread re Stocklite - never heard of it before!
Now all I need is to rescue my phone from its bootloop - I've been re-flashing the poor thing all day, now it won't accept root and only completes boot every so often.
If network providers would ship ROMs without all the pointlessly duplicated (but branded) system apps, none of this would be needed would it??!
<finishes rant, embarks on fourth emergency reset of the day, takes deep breath, drinks vodka>
Thank you for your patience

well... to avoid the bootloop do wipe factory reset and cache via stock recovery after flash a fresh stock rom and about root... Root+CWM 5.0.2.6. FIXED
Sorry to say, I haven't found the ringtone culprit.
Following your advice, Viper, I've re-flashed the stock ROM then CM4 followed by CM5, then Stocklite! It was a trial but I got there :victory:
I'm going to take out a bunch of apps, but keep making CM backups as I go - can't face another day like today!
Thanks for the recommendation, I like this ROM.
I found the missing ringtone culprit!
It's Media Storage 2.3.6 (PLAYLISTS). Without it, the phone sets all ringtones to Silent, with no other options.
I ended up having to wipe & redo everything, as simply copying the file back to my devices didn't work. I'm still re-installing the first device I buggered up (phone), so if anyone can tell me how to get it working on an existing setup in time for the tablet, I'll appreciate it!

[Q] No sound

Hi
Well after making the jump from iOS I've been loving my HTC one and this forum. However I've hit a bit of a snag and I'm wondering if someone might be able to help me out. I've had a search around on the forums and couldn't find any answers so I thought I would post here.
I have an unbranded Australian HTC one. I have s-off, Super CID, unlocked the bootloader, rooted, flashed the 2.24.401.1 firmware and got twrp installed.
I was using the ARHD12.1 ROM, when I noticed that after work a day or two ago I wasn't able to get any sound back after keeping the phone on vibrate despite having the volume indicator on full. The battery was pretty low.
I could send and receive SMS,access the internet, make calls and see that they are connected but I would get
No dial tone,
Was unable to hear the person on the other end of the phone line and they could not hear me.
Can't play music
YouTube won't play videos at all.
Phone freezes when trying to play ring tones
No sound through headphones
I have tried (to no avail):
Using a previous nandoid.
Flashed multiple different ROMS (ARHD GE 3, SinlessROM GE 4.3, Bigxie Ge as well as the ARHD 12.1 again).
Reflashing the firmware, reinstalling twrp and reflashing the ROMs.
Deleting any new apps in the last couple of days to see if they have had any part
The soundabout app to force sound through speakers.
Not signing into gmail mail account after flashing a ROMto stop any new apps being downloaded.
Sound wasn't coming back after flashing a ROM initially (lasted try is Bigxie's GE4.3 Rom), but now it seems to work only if the battery is over 50%. Sound then disappear after the phone is rebooted. Flashing a rom with battery under 50% seems to have no sound either.
Its as if the phone is being muted somehow.
So I'm just wondering has anyone got any ideas?
Are there any other (audio) system files I some how able to reinstall?
Or should I revert it to stock and try for a replacement?
Thanks for any help.
Very strange!
Are you running tasker or llama? (If you don't know what they are then the answer is probably no ).
Did you do a full wipe when flashing the roms?

Yep running tasker. But I've been running it since I first got the phone with no issues. The same thing happens when I've haven't got tasker installed though.
I've tried factory wipes, format data and I think i;ve tried advanced wipe as well inbetween ROM reinstalls.
Its a mystery to me
