I broke my battery cover when trying to take it off. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement for it? I called Samsung and they do not sell the part individually.

It would be helpful to know which Nexus S you have. There are several model #'s and they are a little different.
Check global parts direct. You have to buy a minimum amount though and I don't think they come with the nfs chip.

I don't whether you are in the UK or not but I just picked up a genuine battery cover (with NFC antenna) from ebay from a trader called dew_trading. £16+p&p.
edit: it was for a I9020 and he's showing as having 5 left.
If you're in the US, make sure to try again and tell them that you want a warranty replacement for a broken back cover-- not that you just want to buy a regular replacement.
I know it sounds stupid, but I got the same line a bunch of times when I called. I had to ask to be transferred to the Warranty department and be sort of insistent that my cover was broken, and I needed it replaced under warranty etc etc. It should only cost you like $16 through that avenue.

Was able to get a replacement as well for $16! I wanted to have a spare.
Can anyone post the number to call for a warranty replacement?

If they got it from samsung, the 99% chance it is NFC.
Hello all.
I've been around the forums for awhile (just used the search functions for my previous issues) but seem to have no luck with this one. Well, anyway.. A few days ago I dropped my Vivid from about 2 feet and yeaaah it's absolutely shattered all the way. What are my options? I'm tech saavy so I think I could replace it; however, with the phone being so new I can't seem to find a disassemble tutorial for it. Ive found the screens on a website and on eBay but they seem to say HTC on the top instead of AT&T (because I would reeeeally like to return this and get the skyrocket) so... Does anyone know of a disassembly guide for it? Orrrr... Can I get HTC to repair it?
Also, I found someone local that said he would do it for $120.. But I'd have to pay him upfront since the screen is so pricey.. But that just seems very odd to me since he's working out of his house... Hmm

There is for the digitizer glass. dunno where to get a new LCD though.. Sorry dude.
Isn't that all I need though? The phone works fine.. The glass is just shattered
well there ya go.. if the LCD is not damaged that is all you need..
Okay, cool. Do you know of any online tutorial to install it? Im pretty sure I can do it but I don't want to totally screw it up lol
This might help you.. Remember Google is your best friend. http://www.firstpost.com/topic/organization/htc-corporation-htc-sensation-glass-digitizer-replacement-repair-hd-complete-video-5ImE5hUXK8s-37569-5.html
It's not the vivid but should provide some insight.
Yeah, I was googling and youtubing vids but I didn't know which other HTC would be similar design to the vivid, well, besides the raider.
You could get insurance from your phone from AT&T (as long as it's within 30 days of when you bought it). I decided to get insurance for my Vivid, and they didn't even ask to look at my phone. So add the insurance to your plan, then put in a claim a little bit later (prolly not immediately after).
I already tried that route. It's a $199 deductible on the vivid... Which is absolutely ridiculous.
Could pay the deductible but tell them you lost the phone. Yeah the IMEI will be blacklisted but you will have a test device for root and S-OFF. Also you can sell the removable parts from it too or keep them for spare.
This one fell about three feet onto the corner with the search button not even a week after receiving...

^EXACTLY what mine looks like what are you going to do about it
..I actually found a HTC raider tear down on YouTube; however, the little "void" circle by the battery is a screw so I reaaaally don't want to void my warranty. So, I'll probably just pay the $199
I called for replacement told em it was lost payed 200 wanting to find a Dec. That would be interested hacking that doesn't have the vivid yet but not sure how to go about it..

I just cracked mine also. Obviously no gorilla glass!! I have insurance and called to get it replaced, the deductible was $199 which is higher than you can buy the phone for. I called back into 611 and raised Hel_ with the AT&T Rep because the insurance company is apparently a third party. Dropped the insurance, it is not worth it and she will send me a new phone for $50 after I stated I would go to Verizon for an Apple! Now I can get the glass replaced and Gazelle will give me $300 for the repaired phone!
Ha! my vivid got ran over by a Thunderbird on Christmas eve...and lived to tell the tail! Lol I was super surprised to see only one lil nick from a rock that made it through the zagg screen gaurd..and the screen now has a unique blue "ghost cloud" in the top left corner of the screen the screen also has a few tiny chips in the bottom left corner and along the sides but u can't see them under the case I have which also saved the phone from being crushed! O and it was laying screen up if that matters at all.

My 2 Cents
IMHO this may be one instance where thr HTC phones being built with more solid materials actually works against us, the phone being much heavier hits with greater force and possibly is more prone to damage.. I may be wrong but it's my opionion (I always get a decent case to provide at least basic impact protection) I like the Platinum cases sold at BestBuy (good belt clip & protection once you learn the trick of unlatching the case parts)
Best of Luck, sorry this really does not help you after the fact.
Cheers
BR

This is one of the sites that sells digitizers & the SLCD
http://www.repairsuniverse.com/htc-vivid-screen-replacements-repair-parts.html
Some other sites sell Digitizers and LCD's for the vivid, but to be quite honestly the process is very simple to fix. The only minus is that you'll spend anywhere between $100 to $120 to get it fixed out of pocket...or pay that $199 deductible and realize that carrier insurance is borked.
Hey guys,
Does anyone know from where online I can get a back cover for my Optimus Black? I don't mean an external case I mean the orginal back cover.

The easiest and cheapest way is to get it from the LG authorised service centre.
I got one in India for just Rs 88 i.e. $1 and 50 cents approx
ebay my friend
Do you know if there are cool like modified back covers, like metal ones or so? That would be so cool
So I found those on eBay

So my screen just broke and i'm in doubt between buying an aftermarket screen for about $20 and repairing it, or just say f*** this unstable piece of crap and buy the optimus 4x speed. So what would you do? Any suggestions for other phones? Any review on aftermarket screens? How easy is it to replace?
Thanks for your help and suggestions in advance,
Sincerely,
you're buying 4x? LOL you're buying a phone that doesn't have developers support, lock bootloader and no custom rom i visit 4x section sometimes but their development section is empty, i suggest send your o2x on lg to repair or search on youtube "how to disassemble optimus 2x"
Sent from my LG-P990 using xda premium
It depends on how addicted you are to flashing roms. If you don't mind stable roms, and probably a very very slow 4.1 update, get the 4x.
If you simply need updates and the newest OS, repair the 2x. Honestly though, I think it wouldn't go as far as the 4x in terms of eventual updates, but still, it's nice to be able to modify your phone.
Yes i didn't notice the lack of custom Roms on the 4x this afternoon, so what phone would you buy? I mean the price of the 4x is awesome for the hardware you get, and if i'm able to root it i'm happy. But i also like to flash custom roms alot so do any of you know a good alternative instead of the 4x for the same pricE? Locked bootloader is kinda sucky .
I would really like to repair my 2x but i'm so tired of it and afraid that if i do change the screen i'll wreck the entire thing, and i'm not sure i wanna take the risk or just buy a new phone
Nexus 4. Don't know if it's cheaper or costlier in your country, but it's generally much cheaper. Beats the 4x easily in all fields, the only thing it lacks is a memory card slot. Availability is an issue at the moment, but if you can get your screen repaired for cheap now, then you can sell it after some time and get a nexus
I had the same problem. Repair the touch screen is very complicated, not because it's difficult disassemble the phone, but because the real display is glued to the touch screen with a particular clue. When you try to remove the display you can break it. It happened to me.
Repair and sell !

A couple of weeks ago I dropped my P990 onto asphalt and broke the glass. I taped it up using scotch tape to avoid glass splinters in my ears, and I'm just about getting used to all the cracks by now. I won't be trying to repair it, so I've got a nexus 4 on preorder. Hopefully it'll arrive before the tape crumbles...
Tl;dr: buy a nexus 4
This is a great reason to go get galaxy s3
Nexus 4! Don't bother with the 4x
They don't sell Nexus 4 in my country, because of LG, so yeah that sucks
I could get a Galaxy Nexus for about the same price
+1 for nexus 4 (except if you are addicted in slow updates and lg ui so go for optimus G(same hardware but i think quite costier))

Yeah but is it Gorilal glass? They say it's OEM in most cases, but don't specify wich type of glass this is. Last time i bought a replacement screen was for my X10 wich also was supposedly OEM but when installed i found out it was some kind of cheap plastic wich would never work comfortably as a touch screen. And it looks too complicated i would have to buy a hobby knife 3 sets of tweezer and a hair dryer only to switch the screen on my phone

I broke the screen on my HD2, ordered one online for 15-20e , found a guy that repairs them, got friendly making mobile phones conversation and he changed it for 20e, sold the hd2 for 200e(I now regret it though) I would sell the o2x if course, it's nice but not the hd2. I actually am selling it

Me too, my screen was broken. I repaired at a workshop with 30 euros. The changed screen was old, taken from another phone ...
I also broke my screen and I had it replaced at a workshop. After the repair, the light sensor was not working so I had to return it to the workshop and wait another 3 day before they finally fix it.
The repair process including the new(?) screen was around 80Euro (~105$).
Get a new phone, upgrade excuse.
I got it replaced in a little Phone repair shop, they did a good Job, it cost 140 euro, but we got it back from ensurance because it happend on a holiday

As some people already said, it's the perfect excuse for getting a Nexus 4. You'll have a lot more support than with the 4X considering it's an official Nexus phone.
All the "screen cracked" threads I've read on the HTC One, none of them have any information on where to get a new screen replacement. I cracked my screen pretty bad but I can live with it. I read the thread where it's not hard at all to open this device up. However when I looked for a replacement it only showed the digitizer.I read that the digitizer and LCD are infused. Even if you try to seperateit you would damage it.
Now is it worth it cost-wise to buy a replacement and do it yourself (if you know what you're doing). Or is it just better to take it through insurance?

Depending on who you have for insurance, sending it to HTC might be cheaper than your deductible. Granted, you would be without the phone for a while, but if you have an extra phone that might be manageable. Last I heard, replacement panels were 130-150ish online. As to where to find one, I have no idea. HTC was/is replacing them for 180. Just some food for thought.
