I broke my battery cover when trying to take it off. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement for it? I called Samsung and they do not sell the part individually.

It would be helpful to know which Nexus S you have. There are several model #'s and they are a little different.
Check global parts direct. You have to buy a minimum amount though and I don't think they come with the nfs chip.

I don't whether you are in the UK or not but I just picked up a genuine battery cover (with NFC antenna) from ebay from a trader called dew_trading. £16+p&p.
edit: it was for a I9020 and he's showing as having 5 left.
If you're in the US, make sure to try again and tell them that you want a warranty replacement for a broken back cover-- not that you just want to buy a regular replacement.
I know it sounds stupid, but I got the same line a bunch of times when I called. I had to ask to be transferred to the Warranty department and be sort of insistent that my cover was broken, and I needed it replaced under warranty etc etc. It should only cost you like $16 through that avenue.

They are refurbished, and you should get your money back soon.
How do you know they're refurbished?
And secondly, if they are what do they fix on the refurbished ones? Why do they look new?
Thanks

They probably just fix what was wrong with the device in the first place when it was returned by someone and/or parts which look used or marked (I.e. cover). It wouldn't make a whole lot of fiscal sense for HTC to throw out every slightly defective phone
Got my replacement today and;
BRAND NEW WITH AMOLED SCREEN. BOOYAH
How do you order a replacement N1 if your phone is stolen? HTC doesn't appear to sell the directly, under any circumstances.
Man... you may be out of luck on that one.
give them a call here (USA only) 1-888-216-4736
Next time get insurance or something. Or glue it to your skin. :/

They aren't, the way you can tell is that the screws on the back have slight scratches on them, where the new ones are plain black. The good thing about refurbs are that they are 100% made sure to work, and they replace the mobo so its like new.
Definitely. But its all good. Besides the screen issue.

I recently bought an Xperia Z, but the glass back plate is a little bit caved in at the bottom, it's flush in the middle and it sticks out a little at the top, is this common? Has anyone had a similar problem? It really bothers me even though it's not visible ..

Thats strange.... I think you mean insurance. That costs money and that is not what they meant here. Warranty is given by Sony if you bought the phone in an (authorized) store. So if you have a receipt you can go back to the store you bought your Z and claim warranty. The store will send your phone to repair center and they will fix it free of charge.

But rooting has nothing to do with a faulty backplate. So I still think Sony will repair your phone. Maybe you should try to contact them via Xperia Care chat support.

Just take it back, dependant on the carrier, they'll probably just replace it there and then (if you have the box and receipt).
They wouldn't notice it's rooted unless you have installed a custom ROM.
I work in an O2 shop in the UK and we have a 14-day fault swap policy. I assume most carriers are the same.
Under Eu legislation a shop has to give 2 years fault warranty its not a well know thing though so keep arguing and threaten lawyers then they will just replace

...if you can prove it is a manufacturing defect (which this case should certainly fall under).
They are not legally required to cover things that can be caused by software errors, such as burning out a processor due to overvolting, increasing the wifi antenna power too high, nuking the baseband bootloader, etc.

I swapped and recycled rooted phones myself and had no issues what-so-ever.
I can only say this for O2-UK.
Take it to the carrier and don't mention the root or leaked firmware at all. I'd think they wouldn't look twice other than at the actual casing.

It's an indication that the adhesive holding the glass is starting to fail. Caused by the heat generated by the phone itself.

For those of you who have gone through the AT&T Warranty Replacement process, what condition did your refurbished phone come in?
I'm asking because I just received a replacement request and there are a bunch of scratches on the screen. I thought refurbished meant "like new" quality but just wanted to ask the others on the board to see what your experience was.
Thanks in advance.

I've received replacements device's a few times. Every time I received one its in mint condition. I never saw even the tiniest of scratches anywhere on the device. You should definitely call the warranty department and let them know you want another device and explain to them why you are making the request.

Flawless condition. However, I only received the main phone: no battery, back or stylus. (I'm assuming that's normal)

My replacement was brand new. It came in a sealed box and the phone had the plastic on it and everything. I don't know if you have a deductible, but mine was $200 and for $200 I'd better get a brand new phone...
I loved the feeling and sound of pulling the screen protector off of a new phone.
I got 2 replacements phones the first one was in a box and in immaculate condition but had an issue with ram partition, they sent me a second phone that was wrapped up in plastic and had a couple of fine scratches on the screen.

Refurbished phones should typically be in like-new condition. There should not be any scratches on it. Return it.
Thanks everyone. That's what I pretty much figured.
Called AT&T and complained. Another refurbished one is in the mail. Hopefully this one is in better condition.

Yes, I was able to root my replacement phone using TowelRoot and also install SS, just to make sure.
I'll have to Odin back to stock though before I send it back for the other replacement without scratches.

I could be wrong but I believe you can use @designgears one-click method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2619941
Or worst case scenario, just take it to Best Buy Samsung Center and have them do restore the phone for you.

The link you posted is to the leaked software ending with MLG. That is not official software and if any warranty department checks this you would instantly be voided.
Best buy would be your only hope.

You can restore your nandroid backup to the stock slot. Remove any apps requiring root access. Remove safestrap, then un-root.

Went to the Bestbuy store and the Samsung reps helped me reflash to the stock firmware. No questions asked. I handed her the phone and she plugged it to her pc and flashed it without checking anything on my phone. Flashed only took like 5 minutes. I'm back to stock.

I am! i just found out you can do that!
They give you two options and i chose the latter...
which is, I pay 175 Plus a 500 dollar security hold,
they send me a new phone, i then send mine to them,
they assess the damage, then take the 500 dollar
hold off my account.
so for 175 i get a new phone.
Best Deal Ever compared to 275 to have someone just
replace the screen.
Thanks though guys/girls!

I know that somebody else from here posted a 3D file on thingverse. A simple search should help you.
There's also another method shown on Youtube, as a last resort, I guess. But the risk of damaging the plastic door seems high. YMMV
