Froyo or Gingerbread??

Hi!! I would like to know which one version of Android you think is "better" for now in Captivate! ***SYMPLY GALAXY S ll (newest)*** or ***Cognition (newest)*** ?? Those are the ones I like the most, if you wanna add more options, Do it! But the point is....Gingerbread or Froyo?
Which one is faster, nicer, better, etc etc... for you?? Why??

As for froyo or gb I think its obvious that gb wins the race by far being superior to its dying predecessor.Allthough I've tried only 2 gb roms both were great,I just happend to like Mosaic rom theams better. Both Continuum and Mosaic are very stable and smooth, jvh and jvo fixed lota previous jvb issues and the kernels are making great progress as well,in fact talon and xcal's latest could be called final editions.Gb is getting a even newer update 2.3.4 were froyo will be left in the dust i'm guessing(only cog is being updated nicely)Gps doesnt need no fix on gb outa box ,it locks and tracks great vs froyos cpl roms still strugle.Looks I think are you to decide which u like better, read through the themes section of roms and c for yourself.I was afraid as well be4 the switch but I'm glad I went for gb.
I'm actually suprised this thread has lasted this long without being closed. This debate has gone on NUMEROUS times and there are several threads on it. I'd suggest you search and see which one you think is better/safer.

[Poll] CM7 vs CM6

Which one do you prefer?
A fast, smooth and complete CM6 with Video Recording AV not syncing/Lags
or
a super CM7 with Accelerometer Lags?
CM7 is still in development. This is the main reason why I prefer Gingerbread I'm counting days to the Ice Cream Sandwitch. This might be something special
Definitely CM7 because of the theme chooser and the cool "edge-glow"-overscroll-effect
By the way:
I´m using GingerDx 011 right now, and it´s smoother than my old miniCM6 was before.

Well I use CM6: FroyoBread, it also has the theme chooser and the edgeglow. Just like GB. Before, I am using GDX because it has complete camera. But the Accelerometer is lagging.. so I went back to FroyoBread now. FroyoBread has similar features with GDX. So for now, I choose CM6, practically bugless & complete, and CM7 is still in development..
CM6 FroyoBread or Krauser SROM or MiniCM6
These are my favorite ones. I also like KuyaDROID but it has a lot of bugs already, because CM7 is under development. CM6 is now practicaly bugless (And thanks again to jkrauser2, you solved one of the biggest bugs on CM6, one of the reasons that disapointed me on CM6 and make me went to CM7 a lot of times because i record a lot of videos with my phone xD [No money to buy a VideoCamera, i used the rest of my money to buy my 800€ Home/Gaming computer xD] )
I chose CM6. I think I might have to go back to Froyobread until later relases of GingerDX. With CM6 I just felt everything was much more polished, and also the accelerometer lag and screen issues are annoying.

[Q] Best ROM with a working Camera

Hi,
my question is simple. I would like to know what the best possible ROM is for this device where the camera is working. I guess this limits me to Honeycomb ROMs, which is fine. As long as it makes my device run super smooth.
Btw, since Honeycomb's source code was not released until recently, are there any Honeycomb ROMs at all?
Best is a matter of overall opinion of stock vs customization.
There are f ROM options, more stock but still.
My personal recommendations, Overcome ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321142
It hasnt seen much development lately but it is a very solid ROM and has a working camera with overclocking capaility
would also go with overcome if you need the camera.
but once one of the ics roms gets the camera i would totally jump onboard if i were you. im using ics now (because i can live without the cam) and its much better than HC
Overcome
I use Skype a lot so need the camera but i would love an ics rom with camera
Sent from my Sensation on Insertcoin
currently. there is no ICS with camera working. all HC are woring with camera. there is no samsung camera driver for ICS

Touch screen issue

Hi,
There are few users(including myself) who have continuously been facing the problem of buggy touchscreen across various ROM's.
issue: Buggy touchscreen, mistype, multitouch
Note: This problem is specific to very few users and specially on OC kernel.
I would like to request all those who are facing this kind of problem to discuss it and arrive at the feasible solution.
TIA.

i hv a sweaty hands , when my hands is sweating , the sweat left on the screen so there's one touch , so when my finger touch another place , there's another touch
so i always have problem in gaming when i'm sweating
if ur hands are like mine, it's not the screen problem but ur hands
i have the same problem. and it is not the fault of sweaty hand... believe me.
wrong section mate.
use non-OC kernel.
Yes. I have this problem! All roms using Ketut's kernel have this problem for me!! I do not over-clock above 800 Mhz and still have this problem!!
This makes typing, panning and pinch to zoom impossible. So, I always revert to stock rom or a rom which does not use Ketut's kernel.
I then experimented with the stock rom by flashing Cf-root kernel by ketut over DDKQ8. Then, the touch became buggy and there were wrong touches. I have discussed about this problem with many people and they say everything is fine and it is my fault. But this is the problem with ketut's kernel and I am damn sure as I have faced this issue in all roms using that kernel(CM7 by FAT, SGSII themed rom, and even stock rom after kernel patch is applied!)
This is a serious issue!!
BTW, please use the general thread for such posts!!

I apologizes for wrong section..
and if u can't help just shut up..no need to mock.
I also have random touch when I overclock my phone but below 800 its fine
Be Kind everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle
It's mostly Kernel related.
For stock roms, try CF-ROOT B82-ex. I dont face any touch issue on this kernel (but on B83 and B84 i have problem)
For CyanogenMod roms, try Zimage Mod Kernel, or Skynet's kernel..

thnx every one for discussing it as it was specific to very users.
There is one thing that its not just OC issue bcz usually its all fine on CM9 by Maclaw.
And yep also on official CM 7.2 there is no touchscreen issue.
i am currently using Miracle V4 + Zimage Kernel...and it working smoothly without any problem.
I also face this problem since the very beginning.
I agree, this is a kernel problem, mayne mixed with hardware specification (as only few users face this issue).
So people, this is not because you do not face this problem that you have to laugh about it.
Better to try to find a solution...
My last try was the last official Cm by Coolia. Still face the problem, but very less. Zimage was also a great solution.
Skynet kernel is also good (no random touch), but i found an issue with the compass on that kernel.
I really think this is Kernel related. And please note that:
- Random touch always occurs on the lower left corner of the screen...
- The problem is heavy on Oc kernel (I mean it's even impossible to type your pin code correctly when you start your device!)
- But it also happens with non oc kernel...
- Last thing: if you underclock the cpu around 600mhz, the problem dossapear. So maybe it's related to high frequency only...
Maybe it's cpu and kernel related then... As I guess there is different version of the phone.
Hope we find a great kernel solving this problems....

Well guys using all ROM's based on ketut's b83/b84 and never had any touch screen issues. Can the baseband affect it in anyway?
Don't know, but i tried different baseband from different country and the problem still the same...
The problem is really related to custom roms, or customs kernel at least, as there is no such problem with stock rom.
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium
hmmm well as so many users are saying, surely it's due to kernel. But i think this issue never arose for users like me though it's a major issue as buggy touch screen may lead to wrong phone operation and i guess one will like to install a ROM with that problem. I hope the devs will find any solution.
So devs, any solution?

so you guys are aware that this is the wrong section but continue to discuss here? Moderator please move and/or lock thread.
And yes it is kernel related

[Q] New to Nexus One. Got some questions.

Hi, Guys,
I just broke my old HD2, and though I should change another phone. Not a big fan of new phones, so bought an used Nexus One, which is with the same hardware as HD2.
But apparently, the development for N1 is not as popular as HD2. I went through the forum, and did not find many roms for N1. And there is not a thread that lists all the roms for N1.
I got a few questions, and hope some of you guys might be kind to help me with them
1. Is there a full HWA ICS rom for N1?
2. What is the most stable ICS rom for N1 right now?
3. What are some of the current unstable issues in ICS or JB for N1?
Anyway, I am still using the GB rom, and studying the instruction of installtion. Hope I can find a satisfied ICS or JB soon. ^^
Glad to be part of N1.
Cheers,
1.) Yes.
2.) Evervolv ICS, though it hasn't been updated for months (texasice has been working on Jellybean).
3.) Jellybean ROMs are all considered alpha releases but Evervolv JB 4.1 is fairly stable for me. Only issue I remember is not being able to use USB tethering, which I rarely use anyways. JB 4.2 is currently being worked on so the buglist is shortening as time goes on.
I'll let you find the links for these ROMs in the dev thread and fill in the blanks but this should serve as a quick and dirty summary. Btw, if you aren't already aware you'll have to learn how to use Blackrose (and possibly a2sd or m2sd) before you being playing around with ICS or later ROMs.

Just wondering, why didn't you purchase a used HD2? Since you already get used to that phone and like the custom ROMs in that section.
Well, the ICS/JB Roms have HWA, but not hardware accelerated video decoding/encoding, unlike the hd2

Actually, I have already bought three HD2 since I started to play with this phone. I bricked the 1st one after I burned the T-mobile rom into my HTC version HD2. I broke the screen of the second one, then I bought a broken 3rd one just to replace the LCD screen, then I seemed break the LCD connection cable.... Now I have three HD2 main boards and three broken screens... It seems I had no luck for HD2.
So I thought I should change another one, and I found a good price for this used N1 just for $70.

I think the guys are working on it??? It will be possible since the HW of N1 is the same as HD2?
