Hi, I been using screen protectors for my x8. However in gsmarena it says the following about the x8:
Protection: Scratch-resistant glass

So do I really need to keep on using a screen protector? I like it better without a screen protector

Its a total lie.
Our phone has Scratch-resist surface, but not a scratch-resist screen.
I would definitely recommend one. I haven't used a screen protector, got a big scratch and really regret not having used one.
Buy one in the beginning and save being furious after the first big scratch

I dont understand, whAT DOES the "scratch resistant screen" supposed to mean?
definitely use a screen protector! the x8 screen is hardly scratch resistent at all. just put it in a bag together with some keys and you will end up ruining your beautiful screen.

Well, everyone knows that puting a phone freely inside a bag plus keys and other stuff is a bad idea. Even if you had a screen protector, you probably had to end up buying another because they can also get scratches

Actually an operator in my country gave away in the past some protectors that looked just like condoms but with no lub. It was mainly to take the phone to the beach (with a knot on the condom).
It was pretty hilarious xD

I think it's some type of mistake on Gsmarena site about x8's scratch resistant display. Because some people claimed, that when they removed the screen protector because of this arcticle , they experienced scratches later anyway.
I have used x8 before recently changed to xperia active.i myself haven't test something like that video.
On the specification says :
Scratch resistant
Yes it's scratch resistant
But it's not scratch proof right
Xperia active screen is using ashahi's dragontrail mineral glass
It's almost the same technology that corning gorilla glass using

Is capacitive touch works well with screen protectors? as to my knowledge it is not.
I use a leather case for my X8 which i got from ebay for $2.5 or so.
great! this will be my next phone.
the screen size similar to x8.

Remove the screen protector that comes factory fitted with the phone. I have done that with all my xperia phones and it makes the screen miles better. Furthermore, I have found that it does not attract as much dust

I've been taking a can of dust off air to my phone like twice a week. Especially around the bevel... works well.
I now have the same problem on my new Pixel 7 Pro I bought like a month ago. It's screen is dusty whenever I get it out of the pocket no matter what pants.
Searched everywhere and can't find anything useful. My first guess is some kind of static electricity. I've tried:
• anti-static screen cleaner
• letting the battery die and keep it uncharged for like half a day.
• a bunch of different jeans/pants
• even tried vaccum cleaning my pockets and trying to pick up anything that's impossible to see with human eye by a lint roller and duct tape.
Putting on a screen protector film or tempered glass would be my last resort.
After 30 minutes in pocket it looks like this. It's really embarrassing when I have to get it out in front of other people. Also attaching a photo of my pocket so you don't think they are messy or smth.
To the proud owners of Xperia T, does the phone come with a factory installed screen protector...
Your reply will help me to save the cost of ordering an additional screen protector...
yes it does
Yes, and the first thing I do is rip it off and don't bother with any, I find screen protectors attract dust and get to easily scratched whilst the main screen is very robust and doesn't get scratched at all....I have done this with all my xperia devices.

BTW, factory installed screen protector from sony are quite good imo.

Does anybody have some opinion on the camera app and picture quality difference between Stock and AOSP camera apps...
i am never touched the original layer of the screen or digitizer since i bought X8, because i am using my
X8 with Screen protector from the first day i bought it,and as the Screen protector is bit cheap(hard to get H-quality)
and feels sometime harder to touch and move my finger across the screen because of the
plastic screen protector that stops my finger from moving when put force little bit.(really annoying and cancel my great mood sometimes)
i wondering that why our X8 screen is not scratch resistant and surprised when i
checked phone sites like GSMarena and when seeing our X8 specs
it says that our X8 has Scratch-resistant glass. but i afraid that i accidentally could scratch
my X8's screen without using S-Ps.
SINGLE SCRATCH COULD SPOILS OUR ENTIRE USING EXPERIENCE OF THE X8
any suggestion and used experience could help me alot. Thanks in ADVANCE
sorry for my bad english.

I never used screen protector and i never faced any problem. It is true that my phone has some minor scratches but it doesn't affect user experience in any way, you can only see them when sreen is off.
And judging from my use, x8 has Scratch-resistant glass. lol

Possible minor scratches that don't affect user experience at all. But, if you are so obsessed about scraches why don't you just buy a new screen protector that will not affect your touching
i'm not using any screen protectors on my w8 and can't see any scratches, btw you can buy anti-fingerprint protector, it helps a litter bit but gives your screen some blur lol

Hi guys, just curious about this, I would like to remove the front screen protector of Xperia Z to get rid of the Sony logo (not hate it put prefer the front to be all black). Would this affect the phone's water resistant feature?
Have anyone tried this yet?
Besides, is the oleophobic coating of the glass affected? From the video below I think there's something wrong with his phone, the reflection looks pixelated

I have done it and it doesnt affect water resistant feature (its a film how can it affect the whole phone?)
the screen have little to no oleophobic feature, your best bet is to buy some rain-x spray it on there or buy another screen protector that have oleophobic property.
I'd leave it alone for the simple reason you'll regret it. I don't see how you could remove it, you can cover it over in some way but it's not going to look good and would be noticeable from certain angles.

My previous xperia z had antishatter removed and the screen scratched from a sand particle hidden in my microfibre cloth, if you decide or have taken of antishatter film, put on a screen protector as soon as you can. Preferably you should put on a good quality screen protector onto antishatter film. That way you will have constant new looking phone.
Which is what I've done with my NEW Xperia z.
after taking off antishatter layer on my first phone, AIthough i was trying to convince myself that it feels better, and looks better debranded,
Everytime the beautiful nostalgic sony ad came on, and the guy took out his xperia z to take a picture of his girlfriend covered in courfull dry paint. And then washed his xperia z afterwards showing off that beautiful sony logo. My heart would sink ,as I knew my phone would never look like that ever again.

Does this have the same problem as the Xperia Z where if you remove the anti shatter film after it gets scratched the sony logo also comes off?

I actually think about removing this fu.... anti shatter film, as the screen of my 2 weeks old XPeria is already scratched.
Dunno if the Sony logo is part of the film...
So nobody knows?
I don't want to remove it if I buy this phone but if it gets scratched and can be noticeable I might want to remove it. Problem is will it also remove the logo?
on the Z/ZL it's on the film but for ours it doesn't LOOK like it is... idk tho i wanna know myself since i too wanna remove it and put a nano coating
so how can we be sure of this?
can anyone in this world find out the answer to this question?
it should be easy to see if its on the screen protector or not.

ha, it could actually be beneficial, if it reduces sensitivity enough to avoid water drops register as hits, while keeping sensitive enough to fingers.
Removing the anti-shatter film will void the guarantee or so some Z users said. And yes it's pretty stupid and easily scratched mine had a tiny scratch on it, almost not visible but I know the f***er is there and I used it very, very carefully while I was waiting for my screen protectors. Not really a bright ideas this from SONY.

How difficult is the removal? I have heard its more difficult on the z1 than on the Z. If you have one edge loose can you simply pull it off or do you need a knife for scraping of the film?
