Thanks for the info. Possibly this thread will be closed soon, but anyway, LG posted 3rd Quarter 2012 for ICS P970. That's just disgusting. Most of us maybe don't even have the phone for the "3rd Quarter 2012" (which maybe in the real world is 2013-2014 Christmas, if they don't stop development "for technical reasons like few RAM or something".
We are lucky we finally had Cyanogenmod development. Even if CM9 takes long, it will come months before LG official ICS.

There is an ICS speculation thread, post info like this in it.

As much as I hate to spread about another speculative release date avega1027 said on page 11 of another thread:
"Well for the people that are waiting for the release it looks like it would be comming out 10-06-07, per http://mobilitytoday.com/news/att_re...es_change.html "
and FTA: "Our sources are telling us that some new Windows Mobile devices are on their way! Just got a new update this morning, the AT&T 8925 aka Tilt is has passed certification and it being released on October 5.
Also Blackjack WM6 will be ready on the 1st of Oct.
Motorola Q9 is now slated for launch 11/15 but we think this will be changing soon. Blackjack 2 is slated for an 11/12 release.."
Supposedly, mobility today's David Ciccone is usually a pretty credible source so maybe there's a light at the end of the tunnel at last! Since it was so far down on another thread I figured i'd give it some attention. Thanks avega1027!
Who knows if it's right, but I'm excited to hear something from someone with sources rather than hearsay from an AT&T employee.
I have already given up on all these dates. I will just wait and not get excited about any more rumor dates.
Yeah, I agree... I'm getting really frustrated not to have any iron-clad word on it. But, since this was the first decent lead I've seen in quite a while I figured it's noteworthy.
already a thread for this and wasting space....
Hello!
Is any date of 2.2 release ? Or ?
Nothing so far. It's been said that the Motorola Droid's 2.2 update was pushed back to August. So, I'd bet sometime around then--hopefully.

Next European Milestone and 2.2 (Froyo). I have expressed over the last few days that the decision is pending. The team here has been collating key pieces of information and views from this community in the last month and providing input to relevant teams in Motorola so they are aware. I am pushing for that decision to be made as quickly as possible, and we can then all go from there. Some others ask why the decisions on upgrades take so long, and why does implementation then take much longer still. What I can say and have stated recently is that upgrades are not a walk in the park. Sure there are short cuts that people can take, but when you have to integrate software to a specific hardware, then test it and integrate with third party applications, let alone any innovation from ourselves, plus then get approvals to make this all official and safeā¦ its is a big undertaking that requires planning and resource and third party coordination to see this all through. As I say, once we have decision, we will inform. JK
We're pleased to announce that Milestone will receive a free upgrade to Android 2.2
(FroYo) in Europe with an initial roll-out
beginning at the end of this year. For
other software updates please check our software update site:

LOL....end of 2010?...silly....
ginggerbread 2.3 phone is everywhere at that time..lol
I can be wrong but beginning of the end of the year means Q4 (quater 4, the last three months of the year), that would be the beginning of October, wouldn't it? . But it doesn't matter now. Motorola doesn't care about the European market and they think they can mock us. Let them think that way. They probably do not give damn about 100 people not buying their phones now, but if the number of customers steadily goes down they will be like "OMFG WHY THEY ARE NOT BUYING OUR GREAT PRODUCTS??!?!?!". I think Milestone was the only GOOD phone ever released by Motorola, but after that signed bootloader and this delayed 2.2 release I'm saying "No, thanks" and I'm going to get something from HTC or muster up some money and buy Nexus One now.
Please discuss in existing thread:

Lol. Dont do that. Just ask them to ban Texas Intruments. Then LG OB Has Quad Core A5X. That way we will have a godly android phone with gay support from Apple

I don't get it. Someone can explain that?
absolutely absurd and unneeded
lemme get this straight....we all are disappointed with what happened.
u can blame LG, u can curse TI, but that won't change anything.
this is xda, don't open a thread to cry and curse here ...instead, stand up to what we got, if you got skills, help FOP out. if not, enjoy what you got.
and BTW, the proper notion and practice of all OEM's is supporting a cell for 1 year and for 1 OS upgrade.
since, LG has done both, u really cannot whine about it.
if you want to curse LG, TI, Hades, whosoever, do it in the ICS thread.
this thread will not do ANYTHING (admit it, u officially wanted this hate thread) except making people pour here.
please don't get me wrong, am not trying to pick up on you, but the unnecessary whining is not gonna win us anything. will LG give us the update following the hate comments?? NO!!!! then what's the use??
also, note HTC actually came up with the reason as to why it didn't update the desire HD. though LG might not have the same reason for the update, but it could well have led to the same consequence if LG would have started (if at all) working on our ICS upgrade.
our only hope is TI updatign 3630 and FOP getting the ICS up. let's hope and wish them luck.
regards,
achyut.
P.S. - if you find my post derogatory to your thread, PM me, i'll take it down. thank you.
i totally agree with achyut,
the last months i've seen very childish reactions to LG, not only here but the whole www. (i'm not refering to this topic but in general)
people complaining and over reacting.. not satisfied? just throw away your phone and buy something else.
lg is giving good phones with really good prices.. lg isn't indeed perfect but can you expect a perfect phone for the money you paid?
i'm a very satisfied user, we maybe don't get official ics but who cares??
i get the feeling that a manufacturer is succesfull if it releases new android updates very soon.. if it's not? it's calles the worst manufacturer in the world...
the way i see it:
i got a nice looking phone with good hardware for a very good price.
the great dev's here helped me to upgrade my OB with very good custom roms.
here's atleast one satisfied user!
hmm
but tell me why when all other company can release ice for they phones even now phone that cost half the price of OB
brands that are not very will known are able to release ice on hardware much lower the black can get ice to work smoothly
the Lack of will from Lg to work on Updates is what driving me mad
i will any ways go for FOP when its stable a bit more but why let LG get way Scot free they should know how many its customers dislike them
Actually, I'll prefer staying on Gingerbread than to have a sluggish ICS phone. There are many people complaining because when they got ICS on their phones, it got very slow and the performance is mostly choppy. So, we should be happy LG brought us gingerbread, though unfinished. We could always tweak it to its limits and all be happy

how do you know it's a lack of will? we all know its hard to run a business in these financial hard times.. for example samsung is still selling good so they will have the funds to keep going on with support and development.

Apple copied LG phones' design... I guess LG should ban Apple... LG is even providing their Retina display screens to Apples' iDevices.
But yeah.. LG is not made of only phone manufacturing...
Cursing companies is stupid.

Only one question - Is Samsung providing ICS for Galaxy S & SL Having almost same Specs.and one of the highest sold Android Phone ?
Apple cant Ban LG Phones Bcoz LG is not copycat Co. like others. They already launched PRADA first full touch screen ( Capacitive ) phone before the birth of first iphone. LG is one of main parts supplier to Apple.

No point in complaining about this, really. The decision has been made. Time to move on.
Hello, doesn't seem like anyone has brought this up, but have any of you guys seen that
there's an LG event being held on the 19th? Apparently they're going to announce a new quadcore phone,
but has anyone overlooked the fact that they might announce/release the official ICS rom for our (intl) 2x?
We know that they're supposed to release ICS before the end of the month, could this be it?
I saw this at least,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31544349&postcount=5038
is every news will now have its own thread in general section? If LG release new TV, maybe they will launch ICS for O2X?
boring..
I don't think LG would release ICS for our device at this event
On the one hand, an ICS upgrade at this event would be good PR for LG, but on the other hand they want to sell new devices and don't want the customers to buy old cheap devices because of the update.
We do not know...

is it going to be streamed somewhere ?.

Hi Rayman96, the OP was simply stating that LG were having a press meeting for the release of a new phone. Why is it a stretch to think they may perhaps announce software updates for existing handsets at the same time? The press will be there, so it makes sense.
This post was also made in the general section, exactly where it should be. I found your post useless, childish and boring to boot.
I would normally sign off by saying "Have fun". But in your case, that might be asking too much. Anil
Think about LG's PR.
When announcing new phone, I would totally focus on this.
And it was said by hundreds of times that 30 Sept will probably be This day.
It's really boring, because our O2X forum slowly becoming LG forum. To discuss about anything of ICS related thing we have right sticked thread.
If you understand my findings and opinion, you probably stand my side.
No offense op, just because your post is same as one mentioned in main thread about LG/ICS/everything

Hi Rayman96, LG aren't Apple. Apple can release one device and the world goes nuts. LG on the other hand need all the help they can get making a PR dent.
I for one will never buy a non Google NEXUS device, I currently have a Galaxy NEXUS. Once LG deliver ICS, I will update the phone and sell it. But I will never buy another LG device again. Simply because LG aren't up to speed when it comes to software. Great hardware, software not so much.
Ultimately, there are going to be duplicate threads and information. O2X users have been waiting a damn long time for ICS. So any bit of info can seem crucial, and worthy of sharing. It's simply kinder for everyone to cut each other some slack. It just makes life easier.
I hope LG do release ICS by the end of the month. So the next owner of my O2X has some of the new OS innovations that Google has delivered.
Have fun. Anil

Two companies you mentioned are different, but both of them want to earn money.
This isn't only problem of phone because it is old, and its production process stopped, but even the tegra2 platform problem. Tegra2 in my opinion was something to attract people to nVidia. Then nVidia released tegra3 hitting android market with flag phones powered by this chip.
Tegra2 in nVidia opinion isn't now important, because company took a piece of market. So, if they want to earn money fluent, they have to made you buy new phone to have goodies of ICS.
So LG will release ICS by announcing a news about it to don't attract much people instead of making an event.
But let's calm down and wait.
Companies are really strange creations

would be great if someone in front of press would doubt the sucess of new phone coz of very bad support.. I realy don't think, that many owners of 2x will ever get one of LG phones..
