Does anyone know of a working cyanogenmod ROM for the vivid? On there site its not on the device list yet
Also on a side note, I have unlocked the bootloader and have perm root. Do I need S-off and if so how do I do it?
Be patient. It was just unlocked and developers are getting to work.
Soon there will be awesomeness coming to the development forum.

seriously? it got unlocked yesterday and you think there would already be a CM build?
the only way to get a working Cyanogenmod right now would be for you to build it, because it doesnt exist.
right now there is no S-Off yet
**EDIT**
dont mean to come off like a **** with this post, but a Cyanogenmod release literally doesnt happen overnight....and they wont support it until someone does the work of getting it built and working on the device.
Well since other carriers were unlocked before yesterday I didn't know if someone had already been working on it...
Also this is my first android so just a heads up for any other newbies when I used the HTC dev site to unlock the phone it resets the phone wiping your data

I chatted w/attn1 yesterday and he said if we'd get him a Vivid, he'd build CM7 for it.
Saw a page calling themselves htcvividforum.com that said they could put the inspire cm7 on the vivid, and pointed to this XDA thread for the Inspire 4G: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1226584. I was wondering if anybody had tried that? I have my doubts, being it's a different phone and all.... maybe I am cross eyed and can't read.
The link to the page that claimed this:
www.htcvividforum.com/custom-roms/bbmod-rom-beta-v1-3-3-cm7-nightly-w-treats/msg71185/?
That site is pretty bogus. It's a clone of http://www.htcinspireforum.com, which, if you go to it, shows identical posts with "vivid" swapped for "inspire". I wouldn't try flashing an ace build to your Vivid.
the ACE and the HOLIDAY are not even close to having the same hardware.....i agree with kxhawkins, the site is bull****

Hi all. I've had my Nexus for about three weeks now, and while I originally bought it for Froyo, I'm getting impatient and have the urge to root and try ROMs like CM and Modaco.
Should I wait or just root and do it?

Even if you root you can still install Froyo. Its not like you're losing the ability to install Froyo by rooting. Actually, you don't even have to root to install Froyo now irrc..
I say go for it.
Then again, I'm a bad influence, and have a reputation for voiding warranties.
I rooted my phone within the first hour I had it - haven't looked back

My phone looks to be fine. No screen, wifi, or any sort of issues. But I've read that HTC still fixes unlocked phones (at least sometimes). I'm just afraid of paying $530 for this thing and then bricking it. Haha.

There is no chance of bricking it unless you update the radio. You won't have to update the radio to flash most 2.1 ROMs.... you will have to when you upgrade to Froyo. Might as well go ahead and screw around on 2.1 for now

Does anyone else appreciate the irony of someone asking XDA if they should root?
It's like asking a kleptomaniac if you should shoplift.
I didn't root for 3 months until last week when I finally rooted. With froyo so close I thought about waiting. But once I rooted its now obvious that rooting is the way to go. Don't even worry about the official update coming. Just root it and you will have the official update earlier than if you don't root. Plus cyanogen is such a great ROM and totally worth it.
Okay so, I'm going to root and look at flashing some ROMs. Any guides out there? I see the sticky in General for Sense UI, but I'm not terribly sure if that's what I should follow or what.
Thanks!
Edit: started new thread.

I mean when u look at their changelog it says:

Added support for Froyo builds on all supported devices (thanks to Sebastian Krahmer)
So do they know that it doesn't work?

I know it doesn't work... But do people at underevoked know it doesn't work?

I rooted my phone and i installed cyanogen mod. After hitting backup current rom, my phone rebotted and it now has a black screen with white, small letters that say "fastoboot." I'm new to this and do not know what to do!
If you installed CM7 on it there is your problem. Quit pushing buttons you don't know about. What phones CM7 did you put on your phone? Because there is no CM for the Zio. You need to do a lot of learning before you just do stuff bro. Go to the development section for the Zio and start reading.
Hope you have a computer to use.

Yea, i clicked on the first option. I don't even remember what it said, but thanks for giving me that tip. And yea that's how i found about the rooting.
I would recommend starting in the Easy Clockwork Mod Recovery thread as that is required stuff for running a rooted Zio. You have to know or learn how to use Adb/Fastboot from your computer. Im assuming you were trying to install/backup the rom on Rom Manager. Thats a nono on Zio.

You are very vague in your entire description of what you did and what is happening now. If you have CM running on your phone I would sure like to know how, and what phone it was built for, because I am certain no one has ported CM to the Zio. You said you installed it and now it's working, this should be impossible. Are you sure you installed CyanogenMod? And if you did where did you get it from? And where does it say Digital Roaming?
Sent from where ever I was when I posted this
First I downloaded z4 root on my phone. The next thing I did was install Titanium Backup from the market. After all this was downloaded the phone was rooted and i was able to delete preloaded apps such as sprint tutorials and other stuff i didn't want. Then I downloaded ROM manager which is where I downloaded CyanogenMod and chose 7.1. I chose the first option on the list since i didn't see the sanyo zio and it worked. The last thing i did was attempt to backup the current ROM and that's where it took me to the black screen where it said fastboot. Idk what i did, but when i tried turning it on for the last time, my phone was back to normal. Usually the connection status says 3G, but now it says that i am roaming.
Does that help?
Yes. First off there is virtually no support for Sprint Zios. Second off I would try to get in to your roaming settings and turn it to home only. Thirdly I would try to find out what phones ROM you have on your Zio(what phone the CM ROM was built for). Fourth and finally I'd say you are about a step or two away from bricking your phone out completely.
If you have insurance on it I would (lose it) and get a new one thru insurance. If not I would be very careful about what you do or try from here on out. I will check and see if the recovery for the Cricket Zio also works on Sprint, if it does I believe there is a Stock Rom from Sprint for the Zio here somewhere and that may just save you. May.

Im thinking he didn't flash anything and is somehow back on original set up. He's not said it was running CM7. Just that its running. With a model id of Zio its super unlikely he successfully flashed anything. Kernel id and mod version will tell. But anything is possible.

Hi Guys,
Sorry if i am bugging with the same old query of a salsa update of ICS or any update above 2.3.5!
Has anyone updated salsa above its official release via rooting to ICS or anything else? Is it stable or any faults or is it bricked?
If its is a positive answer, can you guide me appropriately? I am bored of the old version and seeing all the similar configuration sets getting an ICS, i am depressed. Please drop in your comments.

lol. OK ill explain it fully for you below
1-HTC Dropped updates for this model 1 yr after production
2-HTC Stopped Production of this phone a few months ago
3-HTC will never release anything for the Salsa officially above 2.3.3
4-Any Rom that's Based on Official Salsa will be 2.3.3
5-Any rom that's 2.3.5 is a Port from another device, normally the Wildfire S.
6-Any rom that's 2.3.5 based either 2.1 sense or 3.5 sense will have faults and isn't fully matched to the Salsa so don't complain when something is missing or goes wrong.
7-The Salsa HTC kernel is believed to be OC'd already, so modification will be difficult but is being worked on.
Please think yourself lucky. There's 2 Working devs for this Phone...Me and razor...and I'm working my backside off trying to create things for you guys...My main purpose is to get a working CM7 and that's my mission.
If you want ICS you will have to wait a long time.....first comes a kernel...then comes cm7, after that..heavy kernel mods to allow cm9/cm10 (ICS).
Other than that my friend....change handsets if you want ICS
But honestly...there's nothing you can do...how you think the rest of us feel...I'm bored...very bored of this phone..but will persist till CM7 is on here....
Thanks for the reply.
I consider this one what you said about salsa optimistically.. I consider it LIMITED EDITION
However i understand its config part and am worried, anyways i am wishing you guys all my luck to develop a CM& for salsa..
Wishing your mission to be a success at the earliest

it does work, but as with other kernels, other devs have tried to adapt there modified kernel to ours...and it just don't wanna work.
this is why we have bootable cm7's but neither work due to the kernel not working correctly. ie touchscreen modules have to be corrected before the rom can be made to work. we are working on cm10 though in the development section, its gonna take time...

I was trying to root and flash cm my last two phones couldn't get cm so I've been looking forward to seeing what all the hype is about. That's why I bought this phone, because I read that there was cm for it. but now that I know there is no recovery avaliable I guess I'm going stock until one becomes avaliable or I can make one. I guess if I have a working ruu to restore my phone with if something goes wrong I could still root at least
I've downloaded all the dev tools and am tracking down reading / resources to aid in the learning process. Any suggestions? I'm experienced in HTML but that's it. Thank you for responding I'm glad to be here at XDA and I will have useful things to continue on the future if I'm allowed to learn and others are willing to point me in the right direction at least.

There are 4 custom recoveries. And a stock one in the untouched ROM ( I don't currently have the link to it)
Here are the three i found:
Touch recovery
CWMR
TWRP
If your problem is something else, please clarify as i am really slow xD
As to learning process, as ive said before, start off with just testing stuff. Then move on to what you want to do first, in my case it was a kernel that is neatly organized. For all i know you might want to develop apps or themes, thats your choice :3. Have fun and ask me further questions over skype or facebook in my details.

All of those or for gsm phones. My problem is that my phones cdma. I've already tried that just not even thinking and that's why I now have no recovery. I want to root but I'm not wanting to risk it till there's a recovery. Anyway unless I get a one click to work on this phone, I don't think any do, if have to get into recovery anyway.
