Android OS Battery drain issue after upgrade - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
Ever since I got my Galaxy Note upgraded to 2.3.6, it's consuming a lot of battery...
Android OS has the maximum contribution in it..around 90%...
Please suggest!
Thanks in Advance...

hey u need to understand about battery % first. This seems that you haven't at all used the phone during this discharge, So whatever is battery drained, only OS was running in background.
e.g if your battery drains from 100% to 70% during 10 hours without using a phone at all, among those 30 %, minimal part would have been cousumed by background apps and rest obviously has to be OS (as u have not used display much.) So dont worry abt that, ya but if u r seeing rapid discharge per hour, then its definitely the problem....

Hmmm...thanks for the reply..I will keep a close watch on this now..

I m using battery monitor widget. my gnote still on stock android. with screen off, and taskkiller, its draining 2ma. when on the net, like now, its about 300ma. can anyone share their ma with a rooted gnote? thank you.
I really want to root my phone as I dont like touchwiz

This may not be the issue for you but I have found that often I need to restore my phone to it's original state and start from scratch because not all settings and options are available on the new rom.
If you're still having an issue you could try to restore to factory default and then restore apps and data.

the "heating up" after a new flash is in most cases due to a lot of apps indexing files, especially the gallery app and the media service! look in the battery stats, you should see it there!
but: this should settle after a few hours, if it persists after a whole day then there is something wrong. try "better battery stats" or some other process monitor to find out what is chewing your battery!
chainfire's stuff is excellent, you can be sure you would have no drain because of his work!
Never had a prob with CF-ROOT or any of the CF Content for years, ever since my Galaxy S i9000 Days.

[Q] Insanely fast battery drain

Hello,
My mom uses a samsung galaxy ace and the battery life is super bad.
When she takes her phone to work around 07:00 its empty at around 13:00. All she does on work with her phone is using whatsapp. When shes at home she plays fruit ninja, lets say her battery is about 70% at that time. She plays for about 20 minutes and when she stops playing its on 17%. When I charge the phone after the game it goes from 17 to 54% in like 5 minutes, how the hell is this possible? Searched google and XDA but couldnt find anyone having the same problem...
We already replaced the battery for a new one, didnt solve anything and i also flashed a new stock rom for her, didnt help either
Hope someone can help me!
Thx !
you run lots of apps which runs in background ? or you have many widgets? It might one of the reasons

Its normal with our ace that is goes straight up to 50-60% in 5 mins and after disconnecting comes straight down...
And for battery drain..whatsapp and fruit ninja uses too much of battery in stock roms...flash a battery friendly rom and ur complaint will b gone..

Flash Stocklite or Xperiatized ROM. Both are great + battery life is better
I'll go for StockLite v6 definitely .. You'll get awesome battery plus you'll also get a pretty good performance ..
Alright! Will try to flash a custom rom when i get home
Thanks for the replys!

Yeah, the battery meter on the Ace is faulty. And this battery isn't meant to be used constantly otherwise you'll get a huge drain. You can't treat a mid range like a high end phone. Its only 1350mAh, to get the usage you need, you'll probably need around 2100mAh like the S3. There's no such battery for the Ace so you can't.
If she turns off 3G and uses Edge, it'll double the battery. Its the same thing, just connection is slower. Now if she takes gaming out of the equation, she'll get around 7+ hrs of battery. Realize I calculated that without any widgets that require background processes, no live wallpapers, and no other things besides the main app you're using.
Also try to flash a new rom with good battery(can only be done if phone I'd rooted though!) And try Battery calibration (after flashing a new rom)

i have the same issue
i guess u need to replace ur battery
because i tried to stop all the apps and the services and Wifi and GPS and BT , almost everything
and its still draining .
You need to replace your battery with a new battery. Your current battery is nearly-dying. Your phone and ROM are both ok! Don't worry about it.
Just replace the old battery with a good quality new one and you will be good for another few months.

With stock rom I can use 3g data for more than 2 hour so with 2g it surely more than that
so surely fault is in your phone/battery
Same problem exists here.definitely we want to change battery.but I want to know other
than stock battery any gud batteries are available

hey everyone
i want to buy Galaxy S III Mini ..
i need your advice about this phone ..about any problem or bug in it
i hear that it battery is so bad and drain fast and need charge every 8 hours ..is that right ?
please i need all information about your experience of this phone ..( network - camera - speaker - how fast -...etc)
and is there any phone better than this phone cost between 280-300 $
thanks forward
Hello and welcome,
I am no expert but have experience on several android devices of the mid range. From Xperias to the galaxy advance and the htc hd2.
When I purchased the s3 mini I didn't expect any major difference from previous devices, well was I wrong this is definitely a fast smooth operating device with no major issues bugs or lag. Only I found missing was the ambient light sensor where you need to adjust brightness manually.
My battery also is fine lasts easily one and a half days with normal use, only thing I found eating lots of batter was wifi.
My humble opinion.
thanks ..
how many hours battery last with screen on when drain from ( 100 % to 0 % ) .. with normal use like browsing internet or send messages ?
because i read a lot of comment on websites that the battery is don't last 1 day with normal use !!!
please i need advice from many people who use this phone to know if there is any common problem that don't appear in all brand ?
i am waiting your opinion
thanks
Yes but allmost every android phone has this issue it also depends if you are using 3g, apps running in background, etc.. also there are many custom roms that are based on samsung s3 mini stock rom that has much better batery life.

Battery is really great, I'm constantly on 3g, wifi and mobile data on, chatting on whatsapp, browsing, texting, few calls, maybe a game or two for a few mins here and there and it always lasts about day and a half, maybe with sync it would last me a day or under with usage above... phone is smooth and never had any problems with it

really fast phone,no lags, smooth, no bugs until now(i have it nearly a motnh). battery lasts easily 1 1/2 days with normal use(wifi, browsing etc). nice screen, bright colors , nice pictures, very nice video reocording... overall o very good, money worth choice...

[Q] Battery Issues after update

I recently updated my Galaxy Note N7000 with the latest Indian firmware... DDLSC.. But after the update, I am facing a lot of battery issues. The battery does not even last for a day. It used to be much better with the older firmware(ICS). Please suggest me anything to get maximum battery out of my phone.
I am willing to install any latest firmware from any other country as well. It is not a problem or any other custom ROM that will solve my battery problem! I really need a lot of battery backup for my phone as I am mostly out of my house.
Please help me!!
Battery is always aproblem wif the note... i suggest take a look at ebay they are offering a double battery bank for 2300 inr.. that will really help u to get battery as they are giving out a batterry of 5300 mah. I personally dnt think a custom rom can help...
P.s. - if i ever meet a nokia official... i wud suggest them to stop making phones and concentrate on making battries and start exporing them to samsung or iphones lolz...
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
Hahaa.. Good point for Nokia
Anyways... Thanks for the tip on the battery!
I'm also facing same problem and many other just search ...after Jellybean update it seems like battery is dying rather quickly.I have already tried LT4 version and many roms ( TW based) but more or less same battery life..Only worked around is to disable Wifi and auto sync when not required because it seems it killing battery rather quickly..and i dont use auto brightness ..just change mannually screen is eating up around 50% ...by doing this I manage to hold on for 12 -14 hours...try sweet rom LT4 quite stable and good battery life ...

Very often after flashing a new a battery problem happen, it's necessary to calibrate the battery using appli like Battety Calibration.
That's a problem for a couple of users, unfortunately.
Specially JB rom ! I've tried several tips, like switch off wifi, sync, Google now, multi windows, battery calibration etc, without success.
Still waiting a decent rom in the future? (dreaming is permitted, right? )
