Hi
Ever since I got my Galaxy Note upgraded to 2.3.6, it's consuming a lot of battery...
Android OS has the maximum contribution in it..around 90%...
Please suggest!

hey u need to understand about battery % first. This seems that you haven't at all used the phone during this discharge, So whatever is battery drained, only OS was running in background.
e.g if your battery drains from 100% to 70% during 10 hours without using a phone at all, among those 30 %, minimal part would have been cousumed by background apps and rest obviously has to be OS (as u have not used display much.) So dont worry abt that, ya but if u r seeing rapid discharge per hour, then its definitely the problem....
Hmmm...thanks for the reply..I will keep a close watch on this now..

I m using battery monitor widget. my gnote still on stock android. with screen off, and taskkiller, its draining 2ma. when on the net, like now, its about 300ma. can anyone share their ma with a rooted gnote? thank you.
I really want to root my phone as I dont like touchwiz
This may not be the issue for you but I have found that often I need to restore my phone to it's original state and start from scratch because not all settings and options are available on the new rom.
If you're still having an issue you could try to restore to factory default and then restore apps and data.

The first 2 weeks of using my note XEU KKA version, the battery life was ho hum, OK but not great. Then all of a sudden it doubled - consistent, really good!
I rooted and flashed LA4. The process worked fine. But now my battery literally sucks really bad - as in immediately after rooting and flashing you can watch it go down down down. Any ideas why?

what kernel are u using... theres a kernel battery comparison thread.. am posting from a mobile so will be diificult to post the address... by the way my note's battery also sucks acter flashing it with abyss kernek and rocket rom ..both latest versions.. can see constant drips while using inyernet or playing games... n 85 per battery is consumed by display as can be seen in battery stts
Try resetting the Battery Stats via cwm. I'm on XXLA4 and Abyssnote its fine for now, but i need to test more.
Sudden battery drain is usually due to:
1. Kernel issues. We all have the same device, and one would expect that all our Notes behave the same way with a specific kernel, but the fact is they don't. Don't ask me why, electronic gods have some funny ways and quirks. So, try using different kernels, and see how they affect your battery life. Flashing them is a piece of cake, just read the instructions carefully.
2. Rogue apps. Stock ROMs are full of crapware that like to reside in the memory and suck up your juice. Try searching XDA Note forums for the list of removable system apps and get rid of those you don't need. That is easily done by using Root Uninstaller or Titanium Backup.
Hope this helps.
I am using dolphin browser battery saver apk. it is very usefull. Especially it is turn off wifi under sleep mode and saving battery.

hi friends.
my note is installed with stock gb rom and speedmod 2-12 kernel. my battery is draining like water while browsing web in 3g. from 59% to 1% in just 2 hrs. recently i dropped my note on road. top left corner was scratched and few cracks in the glass of the display but display is pretty good.i didnt notice this much draining before. so i need to know is this normal? or else i damaged the antenna or any other parts of my note. i attached a battery usage graph for you. and one other thing i left my city after i dropped my note as i am on a business visit to mumbai. here i get h+ that is hspa but the download speed is only a max of 60KB in my place i used to get 1MB download speed. i am worried anything is gone in my note.????:-(
thnkx in advance
Well this is bad. Are you running any background apps?
Well note uses super amoled with huge 5.3" display which is bad for white pages and on the internet most of the pages are white so decrease brightness while using internet
And 3g consume more than wifi.....

L2_hsic or other kernel wakelock try better battery stats to see
Hey guys. I only want to ask which rom do you think is the bettest for battery life.
Thanks.

My suggestion would be stock gingerbread with speedmod kernel k2-12, i used to get around 4 days with normal use.
That sounds nice. Do you have heavy use of yout phone? Or only deep sleep all the time?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
I use it for playing games, little music, calls and messaging. Sometimes connect to Wi-fi. With the same in ICS i get around 2 days.
okay thank you i´ll try. :fingers-crossed:
to set expectations straight, expect thought about 4.5 hours nonstop usage on gb with speedmod kernel.
4 hours on ics with speedmod
alk stock dont expect more then 3 to 3.5 hours.
you only get 2 days if you dont synch, barely use phone and are in good reception area with data switched off always.
Note general tips which can be found in the 10000plus threads about battery drain and how to analyse deepsleep issues

I don't know whether you like gingerbread roms or not , but till date the rom with which I got maximum battery backup with modeate to heavy usage was CheckRom Revo HD V6. This rom never lags , best battery life , and good speed .
If you are Gingerbread hater and ICS lover , then you can try Rocketrom v7( very good battery life with the included kernel , and would be much better with Speedmod Kernel (latest version) ). And then you have CleaNote V2.30 ( V3.0 has bluetooth glitches but its faster , if you are bluetooth user i would suggest you to stick with V2.30 ) , I personally love CleaNote because it has stock look and very fluidic :good: and as the tagline says 'You dont want any theme forced down to your throat '. KingDroid are good at speed but many have reported few glitches with it , you may try it if you like ( I dont like KingDroid , its sth personal ). If you hate Samsung's bloatware then we have Cassie's XtraLite rom for your rescue :cyclops:. Its a good rom too .
Well finally to end , I use cyanogenmod 9 and i update it everyday and with each update it gets more fluid and responsive, fast , smooth . i just love cyanogenmod9 ( waiting for cm10 ).
ParanoidAndroid are for ppl who love fun , who want to showoff their phone , the ability of their phone , the sweet hybrid interface of their phone , its for geeks :-0 .
Make a choice or try all of them :good::good:

I am using CLASSIC V1+15 toggle with MOD V1 which is ICS 4.0.4, and I also updated kernel to chainfire LRG, which is more stable and smooth, battery life is excellent comparatively to all other ROMs so far.
Which is around 4% drain per hour, I have (facebook, wechat, LINE, mitalk, whatsapp, email, exchange service, maps, mixed chinese input, make your own clock) running and leaving it on idle.

For the past 2 years of beeing a S galaxy user, I've quite looked for best battery life at top performance. Most of the time, battery life is no longer measured in "days" of usage , like we used to do with our Nokia phones. Nowadays, you ten to look at display (screen on) time , CPU profiles, and also connectivity patterns.
You can think of battery life as a factor of the above mentioned, however I think that display time is the most important parameter related to battery life. CPU profiles, connectivity, tend to work only when you have your screen on, and from my experience, you tend not to extend your usage time by more than 10-20%.
So as a conclusion, I did not expect a specific rom / kernel configuration to offer more "screen on" time but to offer a more faster way to do my tasks therefore I did more tasks in almost the same display time.
At the end of the day, it is more important how you USE your device rather than finding a "magical" combination that will increase your battery life.
KID + SpeedMod
+1 for GB (i was using checkrom but i'm sure any gb rom will give similar effects) with Speedmod.
If you make setcpu to 200mhz on screen off, i find it uses almost no power at all when it's on standby.
Like it was on 77% when i went to bed.
Woke up in the morning and it was on 78% (i was like lolwut).
Yay for setcpu.
But seriously though, any GB rom will give you considerably more battery life than any ics rom.
ROM
The best ROM for a battery-HALF ILLUSION and placed on the scale smartas governor.
Try and tell me your impressions.
the best rom for battery

I bet this is the best custom rom on battery savings, try it you will not regret it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1722038
Hi everybody ,
as the topic shows , i came from note 3 ( sandragon ) ...
till now , there is not any major different , plus , the exynos eating the battery drain !!!!! in compare of note 3 with Lean kernel !.
i also tried to use custom kernel ( ultimate kernel ) on note 4 , but the battery usage is very very more that note 3 + i tried to flash the new update , but the problem still persist .
1- why the battery drian on note 4 is tooooooooo much ? and is there any fix ? cause i couldn't found any or should crossing finger for the L version from samsung ??? what do you think ?
furthermore , i think the GPU is weaker that note 3 !!!! it always laggy when trying to render a 3D graphic ! i never had such a lags on 3D benchmarks !
2- is the exynos GPS problem or can be solve on next update from samsung ?
its appreciated to answer my questions
Hi. I have a note4 exynos. Stock. Using gear neo 2 and high usage.
I have a full day battery life and usually with 20% remaining aprox.

oh my God !!!
4 days !!!
which kernel do you use ??
man , i should charge my phone every day , it eating my battery even i'm sleep ( 5% from 12AM to 9 AM )
but i charged my note 3 with lean kernel every 2 days .
my wifi is always on ( except when i'm sleep) , but i don't know what is the problem . i also using griniffy
I had also SD Note 3 and I find Note 4 Exynos faster and more efficient than SD. I get 5:30 screen on time average where as in Note 3 I was more like 5 hours. The 7% more battery than Note 3 that Samsung reported back in the Note 4 announcemet holds true based on my usual pattern usage. So try to investigate it more before blaming Exynos chipset.
I have like 2-3 hours SOT. Bluetooth always on. WiFi on. Only off when on data. So is 50/50.
I'm not much happy with it. With Sony Z2 I had same usage pattern but twice the SOT. Any advices?
I would be very upset if I was getting 2-3 hours of sot, I had 4 hours sot with 50% battery remaining on my last charge with my snapdragon note 4. I didn't realize you guys with the exynos were getting such terrible battery life!
I used note 3 snapdragon i was getting 5-6 sot with it. On note 4 exynos im getting 6-7 hours generally. Definetly better.
i'm wondering why the battery usage is not stopping even when the screen is off !!!
i wish lean kernel would be made for note 3 exynos ....
Seems like you never used a GT-N7000 before. 5 or 6 hours of life STANDBY, and 2 hours screentime.
My device is nice, almost 2 full days of battery days with normal usage. 24 hours of heavy usage. I don't need more. I go to sleep and I charge the phone, then I wake up and it's charged for a new day. No battery drain issues.
No issues with exynos for me its fantastic!!
i fount a setting on my wifi , i will keep searching , always !!
can it be a reason ?

You should have exchanged it when you had the opportunity... Try making a factory reset and installing a stock ROM.

Install system tuner, go to taskmanager, enable all categories to show all running processes, sort for cpu %, and you'll find gsiff_daemon on top, with a very high cpu usage, i think. That could explain bad gps, too. Kill it. And use a root explorer to delete it from /system/bin. Done. Your battery should be fine now.
I've a 910c exynos and battery is fine! With ultimate kernel.
I had a note 3 snapdragon , and The batt life seems to be more or less the same than my note 4 exynos, so, given the higher resolution, and more powerful cpu, I would say the exynos note 4 is more batt efficient, I have always thought that the batt life is a very complex mix of factors, wifi, data, email usage, signal strenghts, geographical areas, freq syncs, widgets, background services, bloatware, carrier junk, etc. and thats why we hear about very different performances, with same devices

Looks like Exynos battery life is worse than SD. I was considering to get Exynos but decided to buy SD due to better camera performance. Now I'm even more happy I did not choose Exynos.
