Quick USB storage access - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys. Anyone knows of quick access to USB storage on SGN (or market app)? I mean while having DHD, I just plugged USB cable and from notification bar switched to USB disk storage and in 1 or 2 clicks that was it. With SGN I have to go first to settings, then wireless and network, then USB utilities, then tap connect to PC, after that plug the cable and then tap connect again ... pretty silly . If the cable was in the meantime plugged only for charging, so have to unplug and then replug ...
Any clue? Thanks.

Thought u should be able to access it via e pull-down notification bar when u connect to usb device...

Well, the pull down menu only shows MTP connected and when you tap on it nothing happens ...

Turn on USB Debugging and it will work as described.

My phone isn't bringing up the mount option?

Well, when I plug my phone into either my ps3 or computer the phone will recognize that it is in USB, but in the pulldown menu it gives me no option to mount it. What would cause this? I tried restarting my phone, but that didn't help.

As long as your pc doesnt display a message telling you the device has malfunctioned and windows doesnt recognize it its more than likely configuration issue with your phone.
the usb connection interface is wonky and Ive replaced one phone already because it failed completeley.
Good luck hope this helps.
I don't think that would have fixed it anyway. It recognized that it was connected in mass storage, but it just didn't give me the option to mount it for some reason. Anyway, I got it to recognize it after I kept switching mass storage on and off

You never mentioned you had USB debugging enabled? Did you?
I am using a Custom ROM and from time to time my computer doesn't recognize that I have connected my phone via USB. I usually can be sure on my Computer Explorer isn't opened then disconnect and re connect USB cable. Also if my phone has been connected and I haven't Mounted and phone "goes to sleep". I have to disconnect USB,Wake the phone and then connect USB and immediately Mount.

It wasn't my computers problem though, thats the thing... It was something with the phone. I still don't know exactly what is causing it, but this is not the first time it has happened.

to use the phone as a usb drive you need to enable usb debugging. go into menu, settings, application, development. when conneted to a computer your phone will beep then just use pull down menu screen touch the message for usb connection..... little guy will turn orange......then your phone will show up on computer like a usb pen drive. drap and drop files.

I was having the same problem. If your using a pin number, password or patten, try unlocking or disabling it before you plug into your computer. Worked for me.

Connecting to a pc

I'm on the latest update (8.1.0 may security) and I'm trying to connect my 7 plus to my PC, but nothing happens. The PC doesn't install any drivers and my phone isn't showing up in devices. I'm not getting the notification I'm supposed to get on my phone either, the phone is charging though. I have tried to connect to different PC:s as well.
Does anyone else have this problem?
@Floyd
Have you enabled developer mode and set USB debugging to on? Otherwise drivers or not the PC will not communicate with the Nokia.

When the phone is plugged into PC make sure
that on the status bar it is not showing charging on USB but MTP (file transfer) other than that it must be driver related.

As Stransky said, did you enable File transfer or MTP from notification bar on the phone?
You won't get notifications on PC if USB is set for charging only.

Exactly same problem here, my Nokia 7 Plus only says charching and I don't get a notifiaction. My PC also doesn't react.
Have you found any solution yet?
Unplug the cable. Enable developer options, then find "default USB configuration" and change it to mtp. Replug the cable

since it doesn't even recognize that the device was connected to the pc, it was a guess. you can also try to plug it into a different USB port. for me, it did recognize the connection itself but it did not install the MTP driver properly. i just manually installed it from here: c:\Windows\INF\wpdmtp.inf (right click and install)
Going to settings -> System -> about phone, and then find the 'Build number' option, several click it until system ask for password to enable developer mode. After done this, return to settings -> System, find the 'Developer options' and click it, and enable the 'USB debugging' option. Now using the command 'adb devices' will show our phones.
Well I had same issue with Nokia 6.1 plus running 8.1.0 but I was using 3rd party cable which din't support data transfer except charging phone. So I used OEM Foxconn original charging cable and it quickly detect my phone and installed driver itself. try changing cable and turn on USB Debugging if needed.
Is this how you solved it bro, doesn't seem to be working for my phone?
Try a different cable. I had the same issue now and the problem was the cable I was using wasn't fit for data transfer. When I tried a cable which came with the phone it worked.
With the old cable I tried all the suggestions and nothing worked. I would connect the phone to my PC and it would only charge but no option to choose USB mode (file transfer).
Tried another cable and the USB mode option came up straight away. Hope it helps someone

P30 Pro not showing up in laptop when connected via USB

So the error is strange it shows mobile is charging from laptop USB Port but windows doesn't show a mobile phone connected.
I also enabled ISB Debugging and also HDB as well but it's not showing in Hisuite. Even mobile doesn't give me any prompt for USB Configuration.
Even if I manually select n change from charge only to MTP or PTP, neither laptop shows it nor mobile.
What's wrong?
Mobile is doing Quick Charge on same cable from its USB Charger but can't figure it out, what's the issue

I tried this but still nothing. Mobile is charging but it's not giving me any prompt to select from, even if I manually change from "Charge Only" to MPT or PTP still doesn't show up in the laptop.
Cable is damaged or port is damaged?

I can't tell you for sure untill you do the test on another laptop/PC.... The cable is working, the problem seems to be from laptop (it's not recognising your phone, maybe you should uninstall HiSuite and reinstall it or have something to do with USB port) or from within the phone (not recognising the laptop when connecting)

Glad you sorted out .
Remove the Huawei device from Windows/Device Manager, then download and install the driver from here, restart your PC, and reconnect your phone to your laptop. It should reinstall all drivers. If not, reinstall Windows (when you have time) and more than sure your issue will be gone

Try another original USB cable if you haven't already. These devices are very sensitive to the type of USB cables used, especially when it comes to Android Auto.
