Really slow I9000 - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Yesterday night my SGS stopped responding and I tried to reboot it by removing the battery. unfortunelly the phone is not working anymore.
when this happened I had a 2.3.5 rom with semaphore 1.8 (default settings) that I flashed over a month ago.
What happens now is that the phone starts up, it takes around 3 minutes to start the boot animation. the boot animation video is doing 1 fps and the phone stays in the end of the boot animation.
Also in recovery the system is very slow (1 second lag navigating the menu and copying file to internal sd card is really slow - 500kb/s against the 15Mb/s that I normally get).
I've manage to install a stock 2.3.6 through odin but nothing changed.
I've also tried Ezbase with Ezodin but it didn't change anything also.
Then I tried cyanogenmod (7.1 stable) and I've got the speed back but the touchscreen does not work.
Does anyone have some tips to help me solve this issue? either the speed in custom roms or the touchscreen in cyanogenmod?
----edit-----
after 2 hours in the boot animation picture the stock rom reached the menus but the touchscreen is also not working.
Thanks in advance

try 10.2 re darkyrom it saved me a couple of times,if not someone on the darkycrew might be able to help

I posted this in some other topic, maybe it will help you.
Flash this ROM (Its Froyo 2.2.1) using Odin:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/665428/AndroidWorld/Herstelbestanden/I9000XXJPU.zip
Make sure repartitioning is checked in Odin
PIT: s1_odin_20100512.pit
PDA: I9000XXJPU-REV03-PDA-low-CL747761.tar.md5
PHONE: MODEM_I9000XXJPU.tar.md5
CSC: GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJPU.tar.md5
Flash.
Now you're back at Froyo 2.2.1
Hopefully your back on speed.
If you need CWM recovery for that rom you can use speedmod K13E Kernel. Flash using Odin (make sure repartition is unchecked)
Put it in PDA

Thanks a lot, this stock version did help my phone.
After flashing it, the phone started working normally.
Already flashed GB and is working like it should.
Thanks to all who help.

I ran the last weeks freshest Android 2.3.6 from sammobile.com. Try to get this and fetch a repartion table (s1_odin_20100512.pit), flash all with repartion and your device should run like a charm

Samsung guys think this is all due to some fault in touchscreen. Replacing the screen should fix this.

Hello, I have exactly the same problems.
I guess it's also touch error, I already changed it once and after the year and then started having problems as it was pressed alone, stuck all the time and stopped working. As I was reading and testing, I think I'll buy again the touch.
From Argentina.

[Q] PLEASE HELP! phone booting then black screen

this is what happened
i installed sgs tools...tried the hacked camera.apk
since that was not working, i tried reverting it by running the restore script....
when i opened camera, my screen became black and it has stayed ever since...
i restart my phone and it shows the boot screen, the s shimmers for a long time and then black screen again....
and i cant seem to get into recovery mode.... i have tried many times...
EDIT:got into recovery mode after 100 tries....what do i do now?
i have tried wiping data, and clearing the cache....doesnt solve the issue...
my phone is rooted.....i dont think i'll have warranty..
please help!!!!!
if you have 3 button combo working (download mode working) find some rom which you want to install and do it by odin.
best to find middle package (Richtchofen ones with his instructions, they quite plain and simple)
you could try put only pda part of the rom without repartition
if it will be stock room the same as you have now in your phone your warranty will be untouch

If you were on froyo flash back stock rom (2.1) but first flash 512 pit file with pit, then the phone is,only startable in download mode, then flash stock rom with repartion and, everything ticked..
btw i had oclf by ryan installed...
what should i do?
i do not wanna brick my phone
i downloaded samsung's latest froyo firmware to install?

No make sure you flash the stock fw and use the 512 pit and have all options, ticked
Just find and read instruction how to proper repartition phone and flash it in Richtrofen posts (short and simple) which include links to roms.
do as it said and your phone will be working fine. mine was exactly on the same state few times and repartition with stock rom always helped

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S blank screen while booting

I have checked other similar threads before posting, but I couldn't find anything helpful.
I had a stock 2.1 Eclair then updated to FroYo through Kies a couple of days ago (firmware JPA). Then I applied the voodoo lagfix through Odin and everything was working fine. Today I tried to install CF-Root using Odin. It went fine and my phone rebooted but then it went into a blank screen after the booting animation/sound.
I CAN boot into both recovery and download modes but I'm a little bit confused on what to do now. Should I flash a new firmware or is there any thing else that I could do to fix this. And if I have to flash a new firmware, which version do you recommend (I prefer stock 2.2.1 Samsung firmware, preferably ones for the Middle East so they would have Arabic support).
Thanks in advance
Just a little update. I flashed a new firmware (XWJPA), it went fine and rebooted then came up with the recovery menu with an error message that the /dev/block/stl10 can't be mounted. I tried to wipe stored data (not internal SD card) and rebooted it. Now it goes into the same blank screen but keeps vibrating randomly!!
Any suggestions?
your dbdata is corrupted. i think JM5 or JM8 contains it...
i had this problem recently,, i flashed darkys 9.2 resurrection thru odin (that contains dbdata) and that fixed my problem...

Can anyone confirm which one has dbdata, JM5 or JM8? I currently have a very slow internet connection and downloading both would take a lot of time.
Also could anyone explain the reason it got corrupted?
Thanks for your help
I flashed JM5 and now my phone boots fine again. Later I tried to flash JS5 but I got the same problem again! What am I doing wrong? And which is the latest stable firmware that I should flash to?
Don't tick repartition in odin when you upgrade to JS5
Thanks for the quick reply. The update went fine

Boot loop on SGS I9000 / Gingerbread and Darky V10 RC3

Hi guys,
My first post, so don't be too harsh
So, I'm stuck with a boot loop. Here's what I did:
- flashed Gingerbread 2.3.3 XXJVK with PIT file via ODIN
- flashed supercurio kernel by ficeto using ODIN (PDA)
- copied Darky's V10 RC3 zip file on phone's sd card
- rebooted in Dark Core Recovery and flashed the Darky's V10 RC3 ROM
- no errors so far, everything went smooth.
But now I'm stuck in a boot loop.
Please advise & thanks !
I guess you have to flash stock rom (or Darky Resurr.) with odin :/
Working again!
I did everything from the beginning, except this time I used K13D instead of Supercurio.
And now it's working like a charm ...
Firmware 2.3.3
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-I9000XXJVK-CL75655 [email protected] #2
Build number: Darky's v10.0 RC3
Thanks again !
I was in the same situation. The idea is that you have to flash a compatible kernel for your ROM (ie : if you use 2.2.1 firmware you can basically flash any ROM from Speedmod`s kernel to Voodo LaggFix; if you are on 2.3.3 thare are few kernels available because the devs didn`t have enough time for compiling, etc. so you have to wait). Yesterday I tested 2.3.3 Darky 10.0 RC4 Gingerbread and I had a semi-lagg experience (the only cool thing is the animation when you scroll up or down - it`s a light). So I reflashed 2.2.1 with Darky Ressurection via Odin and then I put Ultimate ROM with DamianGto (latest) kernel - I score around 1900 in Qadrant with 1200Mhz OV and 24mv UV - but it`s cool and no lagg.
I was a begginer too, but from my experience if you have any problem (bootloop, freezeloop) go into download mode, prepare Odin and just flash the device again with Darky Ressurection 9.2 to make a safe downgrade (All info is in the .zip package, PDF format).
Hi guys,
i have also the problem with the bootloop. I can´t swich in cwm or anything else.
I hear a very fast speach and then the galaxy starts the next time.
I was updating from v9.5 to v10 RC6 follwoing this:
ww.darkyrom.com/community/index.php?threads/guide-installing-rc6-need-to-flash-dark_core_2-2-first.2382/[/url]
It was fine and the phone was working fine. then i have start the lagfix in cwm. since my phone is in bootloop.
Have any idea? plz help... and i´m sorry for my bad english...
the noise you are hearing is the lagfix being installed.
this is normal on darkys rom / voodoo kernels.
try again and give it 10 mins, if it still does not boot, re flash through odin and give it some time.
if you pull battery out / switch off whilst lagfix is being installed you will get serious issues.
Hi guys,
i have flashed Ficetos JVB a second time with odin 1.3. It does´t work at all. Bootloop is coming back after the restart.
Hi azzledazzle,
i have really done it maybe one hour ago... i mean to pull the battery out....
what can i do now to manage this problem?

boot into download mode
flash darkys 9.2 resurrection edition through odin.
make sure you have pit and re-partition.
let it boot - 10 mins max
install whatever version of darkys you want in recovery menu.
Hi azzledazzle,
at first... thanks for your immediately help!
i have flashed darkys 9.2 resurraction edition... but it still in bootloop even after 10 min boottime... (can´t hear an noise this time)
have you any idea?
did you use 512 pit ? and did you check re-partition and finally did you load the .tar md5 into pda section ??
if you did all of that and it still didnt work.
flash back to stock eclair and try again

Flash this ROM (Its Froyo 2.2.1) using Odin:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/665428/AndroidWorld/Herstelbestanden/I9000XXJPU.zip
Make sure repartitioning is checked in Odin
PIT: s1_odin_20100512.pit
PDA: I9000XXJPU-REV03-PDA-low-CL747761.tar.md5
PHONE: MODEM_I9000XXJPU.tar.md5
CSC: GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJPU.tar.md5

Now you're back at Froyo 2.2.1
If you want CWM back flash speedmod K13E using Odin (make sure repartition is unchecked)

[Solved]
I flashed boot.img file using heimdall
and it is working fine once again
Thanks Valinorian,you help me to!
Hello guys!
Im new to the forum but i was using teamhacksungs ics port since middle of december from build 6 on to build 12 without any problems. but last weekend (my i9000 has been on build 13 for some days) i took a look on my phone to get the time and then i saw it was booting. but nothing happened it was stuck in a bootloop.
i removed the battery for some hours and tried to boot but it still gets a bootloop.
im not able to get into recovery mode, only downloadmode is possible.
help me plz, what can i do?
thx for your answers
greets steve
Look three posts above yours. It is explained in detail what to do.
Does anyone READ around here?
boot into download mode...and use heimdall to flash boot.img(in the teamhacksung's rom)(any build)
and then boot again...it will surely boot...
but i recommend onecosmic's ROM
but u did not do the process flashing back to 2.2.1?
I have never used heimdall and im a noob in flashing (it was easy with cwm recovery and the ics port)
thank you very much! i got it
The bootloop problem was covered several times - it happens kinda randomly, so the best workaround would be:
1. If you can boot into recovery - flash the same ROM again.
2. If not - go into download mode, flash stock ROM, install ICS again.

Help - Bootloop from format sdcard, odin didn't fix

Here is my situation:
Flying to Europe long-haul tomorrow and I have no phone. I was about to swap phones with someone, so I cleared the data (factory reset) and formatted the sdcard , I didn't think this would delete my whole ROM and recovery image, just some nude pictures I needed to remove.
I was stuck on the boot logo (samsung .Galaxy S.. GT-I9000), which would flicker every now and again as it restarted.
I used to have Slim ICS 4.2 and Clockwork 5.x (I think), but I just want to have a working phone for my travels.
Now I have the yellow triangle working. With ODIN I have even managed to get a simple recovery, but it still boot loops, albeit with an fancier animation and optus logo.
Odin settings:
PIT: s1_odin_20100512.pit and
PDA: JW6_JV6_JW1.tar
re-partition: yes
auto-reboot: yes
f. reset time: yes
odin3 v1.85
So is there an odin compatible ROM around that will actually work for a blank sdcard? It's an Australian GT-I9000 from optus.
I think I'm close to getting this thing working, but having a flight tomorrow I don't have the time to search for roms.
I now have a working phone after flashing JVT from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583026
Can't wait to get this samsung junk off it and get back to Slim ICS.
Odin on a Semaphore kernel from the dev thread onto your phone (.tar file). Preferably use version 1.2.6 from the ICS thread. Boot into recovery mode and use the format SD card option there. Stick with 2 GB and 0 MB allocated to swap. After that finishes mount the SD card from CWM and copy a ROM onto the phone, then flash it. CM9 or 10 should be fine. Alternatively you can Odin a stock ROM back onto the phone.

Hey
You need to un-check the repartion in odin3...dat creats bootloops..
That would have been the issue...
Cheers
If my post helped, dont forget to hit the thanks button..
reflash stock froyo it will surely help you just make sure u put correct files on their correct places
