Boot loop on SGS I9000 / Gingerbread and Darky V10 RC3 - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
My first post, so don't be too harsh
So, I'm stuck with a boot loop. Here's what I did:
- flashed Gingerbread 2.3.3 XXJVK with PIT file via ODIN
- flashed supercurio kernel by ficeto using ODIN (PDA)
- copied Darky's V10 RC3 zip file on phone's sd card
- rebooted in Dark Core Recovery and flashed the Darky's V10 RC3 ROM
- no errors so far, everything went smooth.
But now I'm stuck in a boot loop.
Please advise & thanks !

I guess you have to flash stock rom (or Darky Resurr.) with odin :/

Working again!
I did everything from the beginning, except this time I used K13D instead of Supercurio.
And now it's working like a charm ...
Firmware 2.3.3
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-I9000XXJVK-CL75655 [email protected] #2
Build number: Darky's v10.0 RC3
Thanks again !

I was in the same situation. The idea is that you have to flash a compatible kernel for your ROM (ie : if you use 2.2.1 firmware you can basically flash any ROM from Speedmod`s kernel to Voodo LaggFix; if you are on 2.3.3 thare are few kernels available because the devs didn`t have enough time for compiling, etc. so you have to wait). Yesterday I tested 2.3.3 Darky 10.0 RC4 Gingerbread and I had a semi-lagg experience (the only cool thing is the animation when you scroll up or down - it`s a light). So I reflashed 2.2.1 with Darky Ressurection via Odin and then I put Ultimate ROM with DamianGto (latest) kernel - I score around 1900 in Qadrant with 1200Mhz OV and 24mv UV - but it`s cool and no lagg.
I was a begginer too, but from my experience if you have any problem (bootloop, freezeloop) go into download mode, prepare Odin and just flash the device again with Darky Ressurection 9.2 to make a safe downgrade (All info is in the .zip package, PDF format).

Hi guys,
i have also the problem with the bootloop. I can´t swich in cwm or anything else.
I hear a very fast speach and then the galaxy starts the next time.
I was updating from v9.5 to v10 RC6 follwoing this:
ww.darkyrom.com/community/index.php?threads/guide-installing-rc6-need-to-flash-dark_core_2-2-first.2382/[/url]
It was fine and the phone was working fine. then i have start the lagfix in cwm. since my phone is in bootloop.
Have any idea? plz help... and i´m sorry for my bad english...

the noise you are hearing is the lagfix being installed.
this is normal on darkys rom / voodoo kernels.
try again and give it 10 mins, if it still does not boot, re flash through odin and give it some time.
if you pull battery out / switch off whilst lagfix is being installed you will get serious issues.

Hi guys,
i have flashed Ficetos JVB a second time with odin 1.3. It does´t work at all. Bootloop is coming back after the restart.

Hi azzledazzle,
i have really done it maybe one hour ago... i mean to pull the battery out....
what can i do now to manage this problem?

boot into download mode
flash darkys 9.2 resurrection edition through odin.
make sure you have pit and re-partition.
let it boot - 10 mins max
install whatever version of darkys you want in recovery menu.

Hi azzledazzle,
at first... thanks for your immediately help!
i have flashed darkys 9.2 resurraction edition... but it still in bootloop even after 10 min boottime... (can´t hear an noise this time)
have you any idea?

did you use 512 pit ? and did you check re-partition and finally did you load the .tar md5 into pda section ??
if you did all of that and it still didnt work.
flash back to stock eclair and try again

[Q] Problems after flashing Darky's Resurrection Edition v9.2

Hi all,
yesterday i flashed my SGS i9000 from Stock JPO to Darkys RE 9.2 according the procedure in thread "Darky's Resurrection Edition v9.2 ".
After the 1. Step i heard Voodoo grile voice, then i rebooted SGS with RE 9.2 Base Rom. Everything was fine, WIFI got ip via DHCP and connected to router.
USB connection to PC worked also fine. Then i began the 2. Step to flash Resurrection.zip via CWM without disabling Voodoo lagfix before.
After this recovery my SGS can not connect to router any more, i worked this issue out with static ip workround, but it's only temp workround and not solution for me. Further more the USB connection to my PC does not work any more. i.e. wenn i connect my SGS with my PC, nothing happens than my SGS vibrates shortly.
I plan to re-flash again, i.e. the whole procedure again. And i want disable Voodoo lagfix after the 1. Step this time.
My question is:
- Can i just re-flash it again as described by thread "Darky's Resurrection Edition v9.2 " without flashing my SGS back to Stock JPO?
- How can i disable Voodoo lagfix after i get Darkys RE 9.2 Base Rom running ?
thanks a lot in advance.

Go back in download mode and reflash using odin. This was my first rom i did and it went perfect now im on to 9.3 beta. I dont.see.how u cudda done it wrong theres a video tut .
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
i had similar trouble with 9.2 with wifi not connecting..
anyway did you flash 9.2 with the 512 pit ??
do it all again, flash thru odin with the pit and re partition, and if you have trouble still just flash the CWM package 2 - 3 times, thats what fixed it for me.. and also if your on darkys now with voodoo and your flashing the same rom again with voodoo you dont need to disable lagfix.
azzledazzle, thx a lot for your info. i'm feeling much better to know i'm not the only one has these problem. Yes, in 1. step i used the 512 pit from the tar file of Darky.
What do you mean "just flash the CWM package 2 - 3 times"? Do you mean that actuelly only do the 2. step in the procedure without the 1. step thro odin?
EDIT: OK, after doing the whole reflashing again, WIFI and USB issues are all gone. I'm very happy now. Thanks for your help!
I have completed Step 1 of the tutorial (flashing the .pit and .md5) and now I'd like to run the resurrection.zip. When I enter recovery mode (<2e>) I don't have the option to select a .zip, only the default update.zip
What can I do?
Settings->About says GT-I9000 2.2.2 I9000XXJPY 2.6.32.9 Voodoo_stable_5.4.1 Darky's v9.2 Extreme Edition
Hm, I ran the resurrection.zip with the SGS Kernel Flasher app and had it reboot, what it did in normal time.
Then, in the darky app from the market, I chose the very same resurrection.zip with tha "select zip and flash" option and it worked. Now I have CWM recovery and voodoo kernel. Weird that it didn't work straight away...

well, are you sure you installed the Resurrection Edition? As i after Step 1, i got Verion 2.2.1 and Voodoo_stable_5.4, NOT 2.2.2 and Voodoo_stable_5.4.1 as you. Which package did you use and where did you download them?
Any way, in Step 2. in CWM you should choose " - install zip from sd card", then
"- choose zip from sdcard", finally you select the file resurrection.zip, you copied on sdcard before.

[Q] Please help me did I brick my phone?

Hi,
I've tried to flash the latest MIUI ROM on my Samsung Galaxy S but now I'm stuck at recovery mode. When I reboot I always get into recovery mode. I just can't boot it. I tried to wipe and put other rom's on it but I just can't get phone working! I can get into download mode.
So can my phone still be saved?
Hope you guys can help me out!
I would try a clean XXJPU install with ODIN, after you'r on stock install a custom kernel with root - then try cm7 (easier install ) then moving to muiu would be easy.
okay thank you, you would be a hero of you could save my phone haha.
wich custom kernel do you prefer?
If you have download mode install a clean 2.2.1 JPU whith Odin (pit 512 and Re-partition).
Once you have it working, flashing as you want.
Froyo 2.2.1 custom Kernel: speedmod k13d.
GB 2.3.3 custom kernel:Voodoo test 6.0 or GTO Ginger JVH RC1 v2.1.
both for recovery (zip files).
DamianGTO Ginger JVH RC1 v2.1 kernel works fine for gingerbread roms
if you are able to get into donwload mode, you are saved
looks like the ROM you are instlling aint working, or your doing it wrong
i would suggest trying a stock firmware first then you can go crazy and try with new stuff

[Q] soft bricked tab u.u

My problem is that i flash my tab but, when it boots the os, vibrates once, and then three times (like an app crash, i think)
I change the kernel, then the rom. THEN, i wanted to go back to stock and flashed stock over the other kernel, and other rom.
Now i turn it on, and hangs on the samsung screen, and gives app error.
Right now, i'm downloading the previous rom, 'cause i think i have to flash that rom and then use heimdall to flash the stock kernel.
Any ideas ?
KERNEL: HumberOS 05052011
ROM: HumberOS 1.2.5 i think
SGT P1000L
I just want to flash cf root to flash overcome
Thanks in advance !
Overcome kernel isnt compatible with latin tabs. Get a stock rom for your tab and flash it with repartition. Basically follow instructions on flashing that stock rom. Make sure your tab is fully charged.
check this thread , http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133590
THANKS !
DarkPal: Yes ! you are right ! But i never flash that kernel ! I've flashed HumberOS Kernel, wich is compatible with my tab model.
I just refered Overcome 'cause the same developer of HumberOS ported CF Root Kernel (Gingerbread) to P1000L and N, and he tried Overcome and CM7 and he get them runnin' on a latin tab.
I've flashed my tab one, two, three times with repartition. But it's still getting app crash when it boot the OS.
:/
k0sh: I read your guide before posting here, my friend. That's why i know that my tab is only Soft bricked. But i have flashed my tab (with ODIN and the stock ROM for my tab model) a thousand times. I don't work.
Both: Well, the previous ROM (HumberOS 1.2.5 it's a .zip for Cw... if i only can flash a kernel with Cw...)
Maybe i'm just give a try to Heimdall.
Thanks !
Solved
I just flash a stock 2.3 ROM and my tab boots finally (ona complete week turned off D, then CF-root, and now i'm flashing Overcome Hermes... just waiting the initial boot !!!!!!
Thanks a lot !!!!!

Really slow I9000

Hi,
Yesterday night my SGS stopped responding and I tried to reboot it by removing the battery. unfortunelly the phone is not working anymore.
when this happened I had a 2.3.5 rom with semaphore 1.8 (default settings) that I flashed over a month ago.
What happens now is that the phone starts up, it takes around 3 minutes to start the boot animation. the boot animation video is doing 1 fps and the phone stays in the end of the boot animation.
Also in recovery the system is very slow (1 second lag navigating the menu and copying file to internal sd card is really slow - 500kb/s against the 15Mb/s that I normally get).
I've manage to install a stock 2.3.6 through odin but nothing changed.
I've also tried Ezbase with Ezodin but it didn't change anything also.
Then I tried cyanogenmod (7.1 stable) and I've got the speed back but the touchscreen does not work.
Does anyone have some tips to help me solve this issue? either the speed in custom roms or the touchscreen in cyanogenmod?
----edit-----
after 2 hours in the boot animation picture the stock rom reached the menus but the touchscreen is also not working.
Thanks in advance
try 10.2 re darkyrom it saved me a couple of times,if not someone on the darkycrew might be able to help

I posted this in some other topic, maybe it will help you.
Flash this ROM (Its Froyo 2.2.1) using Odin:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/665428/AndroidWorld/Herstelbestanden/I9000XXJPU.zip
Make sure repartitioning is checked in Odin
PIT: s1_odin_20100512.pit
PDA: I9000XXJPU-REV03-PDA-low-CL747761.tar.md5
PHONE: MODEM_I9000XXJPU.tar.md5
CSC: GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJPU.tar.md5
Flash.
Now you're back at Froyo 2.2.1
Hopefully your back on speed.
If you need CWM recovery for that rom you can use speedmod K13E Kernel. Flash using Odin (make sure repartition is unchecked)
Put it in PDA
Flash

Thanks a lot, this stock version did help my phone.
After flashing it, the phone started working normally.
Already flashed GB and is working like it should.
Thanks to all who help.
I ran the last weeks freshest Android 2.3.6 from sammobile.com. Try to get this and fetch a repartion table (s1_odin_20100512.pit), flash all with repartion and your device should run like a charm

Samsung guys think this is all due to some fault in touchscreen. Replacing the screen should fix this.
Hello, I have exactly the same problems.
I guess it's also touch error, I already changed it once and after the year and then started having problems as it was pressed alone, stuck all the time and stopped working. As I was reading and testing, I think I'll buy again the touch.
From Argentina.

[Solved]
I flashed boot.img file using heimdall
and it is working fine once again
Thanks Valinorian,you help me to!
Hello guys!
Im new to the forum but i was using teamhacksungs ics port since middle of december from build 6 on to build 12 without any problems. but last weekend (my i9000 has been on build 13 for some days) i took a look on my phone to get the time and then i saw it was booting. but nothing happened it was stuck in a bootloop.
i removed the battery for some hours and tried to boot but it still gets a bootloop.
im not able to get into recovery mode, only downloadmode is possible.
help me plz, what can i do?
thx for your answers
greets steve
Look three posts above yours. It is explained in detail what to do.
Does anyone READ around here?
boot into download mode...and use heimdall to flash boot.img(in the teamhacksung's rom)(any build)
and then boot again...it will surely boot...
but i recommend onecosmic's ROM
but u did not do the process flashing back to 2.2.1?
I have never used heimdall and im a noob in flashing (it was easy with cwm recovery and the ics port)
thank you very much! i got it
The bootloop problem was covered several times - it happens kinda randomly, so the best workaround would be:
1. If you can boot into recovery - flash the same ROM again.
2. If not - go into download mode, flash stock ROM, install ICS again.
