Loosing 3G

Hi,
I bought my wings about a year ago, and have been a happy user since then. Out of the blue, my device started to loose 3G signal, or it displays full strength but I am unable to connect/call/receive. 2G instead looks fine.
It was really unexpected, the problem came up overnight. I did not install any new software neither have add any change whatsoever. I was still using the original factory ROM (never changed).
Still have the problem, though I have tried everything I can/know. I have even upgraded the device to the new ROM by HTC, which is supposed to improve the 3G connectivity and nope nope nope.
Help would be very much appreciated
Thanks!
btw, forgot to say.
It is likely not a network problem of my provider. I have tried my phone in different areas without any success. Besides, if I test my SIM card with another phone with 3G capability, it works fine. And of course, trying another SIM card in my s730 doesnt solve the problem.
HELP!
There is an official radio update from HTC wich adresses this problem.
Check the HTC site

thanks. tried twice already and absolutely no change. Right after installing it, I can connect to the 3G for, say, 30mins/1hour. After, the network is lost, or well I do see the 3G connection but I cant call/receive. Trying then soft rebooting, and the phone connects to a 2G network. No way to have 3G connectivity. I am pretty disappointed. I am thinking of swithcing back to nokia. I have already contacted by email the HTC service.
Dunno, anyone has/had similar experience?
looks like I am not alone:

[Q]Signal problems after update Rom

Ive updated my [Dutch] brand new Touch HD to Rom 1.19.. and now ive got some signal problems. I went to the mobile shop to check if there where problems but we switched phones and it worked good. So the problem is the HD..
It could be the antenna thats broke but Im almost sure its the Rom.
Is this possible? Someone got the same issues?
Thanks for the reply
I have this rom: [ROM] [SPA] RUU_BlackStone_HTC_SPA_1.14.412.5_Radio_52.49a.25. 26_1.09.25.14_Ship.exe

Ed, you can update the radio and see if that gives you a better signal.
Could it be you have an old type simcard? A friend of mine (back in the n95 days) couldn't get video call to work and had terrible reception. He thought it might be the simcard; I laughed at him and couldn't believe it. Turns out he was right and everything was fine after they gave him an UMTS (or something) simcard.
Dunno exactly what the old/new simcard type was, but after the upgrade everything worked perfectly...
PS: I had the same ROM/Radio as fitobierzo, but from dutch vodafone; no problems. Flashed to 1.19 WWE from Laurentius (v2), no problems either (probably helps that Laurentius26 is Dutch too ). Waiting for his v4 before reflashing again...

Brand new sim card they checked it for me.
i had the same issue over in the UK, the phone kept on disconnecting from the service provider constantly, and would drain my battery as the phone was trying to over boost the signal to compensate, got my phone exchanged, same issue... flashed new ROM's... no effect, updated the Radio and its been perfect ever since
Do you know what Radio version you upgrade from and to ?...
Thanks
Update
The newest radio version.
He went back a few weeks ago. They put back the stock rom.
Same problem.
I went to the Phone shop to complain and they contact there main office.
Main office contact HTC about this problem.
My phone is @ htc now. Hope they figure out what the problem is.

Problems with new phone

Hi,
Got my new TD2 on Saturday and think that it is a very good phone.
Now the probems:
Awlful radio reception (swapped over the sim and put it into my old Touch Cruise and get full signal- so i know its the phone)
Keep getting the following error messages:
"An error occurred with gwes.exe" also get "shell32.exe" errors. I report the error to Microsoft and have informed HTC, will update if i get any response.
Has anybody had any similar issues?
Have not had any of the issues. Maybe if you supply your ROM and RADIO Versions and what region you are in it may help?
Radio reception on mine is pretty good on all the stations here. I don't really use it though but have tested.
Rom version- 1.39.405.2 (47382) WWE
Rom date- 04/07/09
Radio version- 3.43.25.19
Protocol- 61.20t.25.10u
Using T-Mobile in the UK (Wiltshire)
Hope that this helps.

If you mean bad GSM/3G reception, you're certainly not alone. 3G is particularly poor, you really need to be in a strong signal area to use 3G.
You may get some improvement by changing the phone settings from "automatic" to only using your network, and the band settings to the UK bands only.
Other than that, we're all praying for an upgraded radio rom soon.

Yes, i see from other posts that signal quality is an "issue" at the moment. Got usual response from HTC (reset/hard reset/move aropund location/send back to retailer- might do this)
Tried changing bands to automatic, which was fine when had a signal, but when lost it, wouldn't find it again.
With the other issue, told to hard reset by HTC and wait and see what happens.

Any clue as to his other problems.......
Have you hard reset..... do those other problems still exist?

I have hard reset, and (touchwood) i have not had the error messages since, will keep updating as necessary.
Yeah, think i spoke too soon, it started to error again with shell32.exe, noticed that i am not the only one by using a search engine, it seems that there are a few issues with Windows Mobile.
Spoke to HTC UK again, and after another hard reset, will be sending it back to the retailer for DOA replacement.
Not the best start, but seems that is the price you pay for having brand new technology in this day and age!

Can't call when 3g is on

I can't make phone calls when 3g is on, with 2g is fine. I went back from miui to cm7 and finally to stock and still i can't call.
Do you think is possible that some hardware failure can lead to this?
More info: changed baseband too, i have this problem also if i change sim
If you changed the BB on your phone then why don't you revert to the previous one and check?
I would not exclude a problem with your carrier's network
I changed the baseband after this problem occured, I tried a different carrier (Vodafone, my carrier is TIM) and calling when 3g is on works
I'm gonna wait if they fix things

Maybe it could be obvious but...Did you try to change Ril by using getrill apk?
Non si sa mai ^_^
Si (Yes)
I tried changing Radio with different basebands but I have the same result, call ended immediately.
Now I'm on Cyanogen 9 and i'm keeping the ril that comes with it.
Calling with 3g works under Vodafone Italy, Tim doesn't.
I've found a post (in Italian) of one guy having the same problem with TIM one month ago, like me he was thinking that the phone was the problem but it wasn't. For this guy the problem got magically solved, probably a TIM fix.
Problem got solved automagically

Thanks for the reply, spica. I have no idea what that is let alone how to do it. I'm new to this and just barely scratching the surface of this phone.

Hi Electroman!
In O2X you have Baseband and RIL. I believe you can think of these as the antenna drivers/firmware.
When you change a ROM usually this changes the RIL, then it is recommended that you download an app called GetRIL to download a RIL that matches your Baseband.
If you go to Settings -> About Phone you will be able to check what's the version of your baseband.
It is possible to change this baseband. I think the easiest way is by flashing a zip file using CWM, I've never done it because I haven't had any issues with calling or data network or whatever.
Some people claim that some basebands are better with some networks than others, so your call quality might improve if you change baseband, depending on what network provider you have, but then again, I haven't had any issues so I wouldn't know.
I'm almost sure that spica meant RIL, you can change it with an application called "GetRil" from the market, you need a phone with root available ( check the forums for that, it means you can run commands as you were the admin of your machine, unix style).
If that doesn't work i suggest two things: check other carriers with your phone, and check your sim card on other phones. So you can have an idea of what could be the problem.
Thanks again, LarsPT and gasgas. The thing is I haven't changed anything on the phone yet. Everything's still stock. I don't know but this could have something to do with the carrier I think. Maybe I'll give them a call.
It turns out Windmobile doesn't support 2G, and that's why the phone didn't show any signal.

Poor Phone Signal

Hi,
I've had my M7 for a week now and I've had really poor signal wherever I go. I upgraded to it from my HTC Desire HD however, I bought it off contract from eBay so there's no warranty on it. Is it a software issue or hardware issue? I posted on the HTC UK Facebook page and they say it could be a hardware issue.
Any help on how to fix this would be appreciated.
Thanks.

could be an hardware issue, Maybe poor network coverage, maybe you are not using the best radio for your netowrk. How much dB you get and how many bars/5?

-85 dBm and 1-3 bars. The phone is completely stock and it's using a Vodafone branded Rom however, it is unlocked and I'm on the 3 network

-85 dBm is a pretty good connection. Mine is around -93 - 95 dBm (3/5) at home and not experienced any issue making call or using mobile data. If you get below -100 dBm, you'll start having issues when making calls. But again at -85 is fine (unless you have a cell tower in your yard, this is normal....)
Also make sure your preferred network type is set to GSM/WCDMA/LTE AUTO so your radio will switch to a better freq. when needed.
I think it might be an issue with the radio, rather than a hardware issue.
My M7 is unbranded, rooted, unlocked bootloader and S-Off. My signal issues started about a month and a half ago and I've had terrible signal/download speeds ever since then.
I've contacted 3 numerous times since then and was initially told that there was an issue with the mast my phone was connected to but even after sending a team out to "fix" it a couple of times, I'm still facing the same issue.
I did then think that it could simply be an issue on 3's end but my brother is also on 3 but not having issues on his Note 3.
I haven't got around to testing out different radios yet but that's probably the best solution I can think of. If that doesn't solve it then I assume it could be a hardware problem.
