Xperia Z battery life gone 3h!!! Dont buy it!

Hello everyone!!
I recently bought an Xperia Z, but the problem is that the battery depletes after 3hours of onscreen time?, i went to the store and they too found it strange since it should have around 6 or 7 hours of onscreen time.
They exchanged the phone and gave me a new one, and sadly that phone had the exact same problem( REALLY!!?!?!!), and to top that, it's with screenlight at 25% and every battery heavy options turned off.
So i went to the store to get a refund. In the store another guy had exchanged his Xperia Z 4 times till He got a Z with a battery that worked as intended....
I will never buy a sony product again after this letdown..
And i would definitely not exchange my phone 4 times to hit the "Working-Battery lottery!"
It seems there is some sort of failure in the release of many of the Z's released, i found this guy with same problem

I also have bad battery life, but yet I don't see your point of making this topic at all.
6/7h on screen time really yo? On a 1080p screen... maybe next year. There are plenty of people that reached 5h+
If you want 7h on screen time, get an iPhone LOL! That way we would get rid of you and you would be with the other sheeple.

I don't get it, my battery lasts all day, I charge through the night and take it out at 7 roughly. Then I use it through the day playing games like shadowgun and using social networking sites like Facebook. I also use gmail quite often and I also watch YouTube videos aswell. If I have brightness automatic and battery stamina mode it can last me throughout the day. I haven't charged my phone sine 7 and I still have 13% charge left.

Pretty sure that wouldn't even work. One of the girls I work with just got an iphone 5 and the battery drains like crazy on that thing. She starts at 3am, and by ~8 she is below 15% and has to charge pretty soon after. Then she has to charge when she gets home, and again when she goes to sleep.
Meanwhile, I am one of the heaviest power users I know of, I use my phone for work (flashlight, camera, calendar, calculator, barcode scanner), frequently check facebook, ragecomics reader app, general web browsing and play store browsing, small downloads eg mp3, apps, flashable .zip tweaks from here, frequently check simpsons tapped out, play some dead trigger, watch about 30 -60 mins of movies, receive a few calls and texts, maybe 10-20 mins of music playback. Out of habit I normally pull my phone out every 10-15 minutes and unlock it, flick around absent mindedlu, then lock it again after not actually opening anything :\ not sure how I picked up that habit.
To top all that off, I have my screen brightness set to 100% with adjust to lighting conditions ticked, I have location services and sattelites on, auto sync on, 4g data always on, wifi on but location based activated, NFC on, and finally, also have better battery stats installed and allways doing it's thing as I am also experiencing some rougue wakelocks I am slowly dealing with (still stumped on what is causing audio_out2 and deleted_wake_lock)
Despite all this, my phone comes off charge around 330am, and doesn't charge till 8pmish when it finally runs out of juice. That is one hell of a solid effort as I have done pretty much nothing to help out my battery, and doing everything to make it struggle.
I have only undervolted slightly, and am using doomkernel on KA04 rom. I am not using stamina mode either. Infact, when I was using it on stock rom, I couldn't see any difference between using it and not using it. I can't really see how it would do much IF you had NO wakelocks (or very little). Besides knocking out LED all it really does it disable background processes, if you have your phone set up right you shouldn't really have any anyway:good:.
This phone leaves my previous galaxy S2 in it's dust for battery life under the same usage in anycase (I used to charge that thing about 3 times a day most days).

My battery was pretty bad when I just got the phone, now it's better

actually on my iPhone 5 I get more like 9 hours of screen time, sometimes 10. Not saying that your friends account is false, but that sure is hell doesn't seem consistent with any battery rundown test I've ever seen.I can go 2 days without charging it roughly, I'm sure the incoming hate and vitriol for my use of an iPhone as a daily driver is about to pour in from the less intelligent Android users, but this is one of the reasons my iPhone is still my daily driver. That and a consistently good camera.

Batteries need a few charging cycles before doing their job properly. It's like having sex for the first time. The first time you might be disappointing but as you do it more often, you supposedly become better at it. Batteries work the same way.

Can't believe you just compared batteries on a phone to sex.

My battery life is acceptable. Getting up to 4hours screen time or a little more from 09 - 22. At this time, I then have about 14% more or less. And this is by alot of whatsapp, messaging, maybe a call or two. This is not using LTE. I find it very battery draining so I stick with 3G. Besided i am on WiFi most of the time.
So as long the phone can do a whole day without charging in most normal days for some people that don't travel alot, I ffind the battery acceptable

samsung guy buys htc one and rooting questions

OK I can find the answers here most likely but I just wanted to ask questions.
I have had s2 and s3. both rooted. both custom kernels. etc. I noticed vast improvements. the one frankly makes me nervous. should I even root it?
its on telus network in Canada. seems the ones are all the same no? unlike Samsung galaxy series. is development advanced enough to go ahead? I've only had the phone now for less than a week. I really do like it. miss the physical home button. don't care about aluminum design etc. nervous about sealed battery. but the battery life is awesome so far. even on the first charge I got all day and 6 hours of screen. this was with playing with settings. trying speakers. etc. but of course I'm always looking for more.
I'd say rooting my s3 meant I went from all day and 5 hours screen to all day and 6 plus hours screen. definitely worth it. should I expect the same here? I really want a secondary way to wake the device. pushing a touch button or swipe would be nice. will these not work in a dark room? any detrimental reasons why I wouldn't want this?
I mostly want battery life. convince me that I have the right phone. I can still return it I think. but got a good deal on the phone. basically paid 500 for it new. on a plan. 150 off price. and 500 device balance should I decide to pay it out. s4 is still 150 on contract. plus the 500 device balance. I want to like the one I really do. but missing Samsung sometimes. this is not an s4 vs one thread. just help me make the most of this device.

oh and today battery life is not so good. 12 hours up time. 2.5 hrs screen and 40% left. not terrible I guess. but perhaps something is sending it down some.
another question. what root features will do me the most for battery? with s3 I set screen off max to really really low. and that helped. under volt across the board and limit CPU speed. but this is my first quad core. thanks

Don't wanna sound mean, but save yourself the trouble and switch the One for the S4. I've enough experience to know that when you're questioning a phone, asking whether it's the right one for you or not, usually means the mind's set on something else and you'll never be happy with it. If you miss Samsung and you like the ability to switch batteries, why not go with the S4? It's not a bad device, and you said yourself that you don't care about the aluminium design of the One.
If battery life is what you're after, I'd be happy to let you know there are a lot of beefy batteries available for the S4. Check Amazon for instance.

battery will improve over time when i first got mine i got around
10-12 hrs with around 3-4 hrs screen time
the next week i got 15-20 hrs with 4-5 hrs screen time
and now after around 2 months around 30 hrs with 5-7 hrs screen time
but i rooted and installed custom sense rom first day

Fair enough. I don't know any battery saving tweaks as I don't pay much mind to that. I just use my device like I want to use it, then charge whenever I see fit. I have a charger at home, next to my bed (which is also conveniently close to my desk) so I'm happy if it lasts 8 hours of medium usage (whenever I'm working)
I just don't wanna see you miserable, mate. I've seen far too many people making the wrong choice of phone (myself included, though not with the One) and ending up hating anything and everything (not literally ).

@OP, i think you only want some attention and some words to help you sleep at night... you're not a noob in rooting world, you already know about the difference between HTC and Samsung in battery area, and now you want others to convince you? nobody can...

Try JuiceDefender. It does a good job of managing radios and turning things off and on based on location in addition to some other solid battery saving techniques.
Also, I hear your pain. I love the design and the speakers. I even like Sense for the first time ever. I think I miss the physical home button of my S2 and 3 though. Reaching for the power button is annoying and compounded by the fact that the screen stays off when texts are received.

you should stick with the S4. The battery life on the One will make you hate it later. I had the S4 but switched to the One because I just enjoy the screen of the One more than the S4.

really? i average 30+ hrs with 5-7 hrs screen time which is on par with the s4 i had but the lag was to much. how does a phone with the same processor as the one but overclocked to 1.9 ghz lag when the one at 1.7 ghz doesnt? that is unacceptable for a flagship device

Man you guys are so helpful S-off your phone and unlock ur bootloader then load the 4.2.2 leak the battery life and camera are amazing on it...root and use greenify and enable auto hibernation.Enable power saver but disable the screen option(which really dims screen) put screen brightness @ 50% trust me awesome Battery life

I'm not a noob to rooting. I've done it with almost every phone I've had. I just happen to not have much experience with HTC. I had a desire HD. rooted. but got rid of it shortly after.
like I said if I was so desperate for the s4 I would get it. or i would go out and buy one outright. i saved 150 buying the one, its got rave reviews, and so far save for a few thinga i love it. I said I don't care about aluminum, but truth be told this phone seems much more robust than s4. materials aside. and that's important. if it was a robust plastic phone I would not care.

About that screenshot... Did you leave it unplugged @ 100% from the last nightt? 7hrs with 98% is just unrealistic, and considering it's early morning when you took the shot...

yes I unplugged it @ 100% went to bed woke up took screen shoot it is the same every time if i sleep more than 9hrs sometimes it will be @ 97%...powersave on this phone is awesome i just disable it for my screen and set it 50% brightness everything is on wifi bluetooth etc ,the phone goes into a deep sleep when in standby and with greenify hibernating everything(google maps etc) this is real man

Six Days of Battery Life?

Hi folks,
I just ordered a Nexus 6.
I currently have a m7vzw (Verizon HTC One M7), and cut my teeth here rigging s-off and root, and then trying many different ROMS for it. My needs are pretty simple and, as you can see from the title, I like long battery life.
I currently run Vanilla AOSP 4.4.4 and minimal edition gapps. Light email push from gmail and to MS Outlook for work. Very little surfing and phone use. No extraneous apps, and no social networking apps. I typically need to charge up every 6-7 days.
Any suggestions for some ROMS to consider here? I never exceeded 3 days on my current phone using 5.x with the same usage and configuration. I quit trying after a while.

Errrr... I guess if you leave WiFi and data off you might get a couple days if you don't use screen often? Most get 3-6hrs screen on time to give a day to a day and a half?
Probably not getting 6 days, if you are, your spending way to much for your phone, because you obviously are not using it [emoji14]

Lol seriously though. You're the type of phone user to get a months use out of a ZeroLemon battery.

I have near-constant access to much more powerful equipment for business and gaming. I have some very specific needs that my phone addresses.
Is there a better place I could post the question? Does anyone here have the expertise to provide useful answers? Or does the sarcasm indicate that this device has stupidly low battery life, regardless of which ROM is used?

I fun stock 5.1.1 unencrypted, with Lean Kernel and a flashed.zip of the drives from the M preview.
I went from 7PM Sunday night to 3:44PM Wednesday Afternoon before charging my phone. I also have very light usage like you. That included 30+hrs of music listening, 2hrs SOT, a few camera shots and all my Google, work email, and Skype accts on ans syncing,

Seems to me that android M will work out for you.........I run M preview 3 currently and made it last weekend from unplugging Friday around 12 noon and plugged in Monday (labor day) forgot my charger at work over the weekend, but plugged in Monday around 11:30am and still had to about 25% remaining, had to use an old charger (not turbo charger) but I was afraid it would die overnight while I was sleeping and the alarm would not go off for work Tuesday. I don't remember what all my stats were, but very light usage since like I said, my turbo charger was at work

which rom or kernel you use will not have any influence on your battery life. battery life is determined by your personal use, your personal set up, which apps you decide to install, and very much your phone/data signal quality. everything else has very littke affect on battery. that said, i personally see about 5.5-7h screen on time. and that pretty decent. but 6 days battery, while using your device, youll never see. only if you dont use your device for long periods of time and if you have your signal turned off.

the device doesnt have stupid low battery, your previous experience, and expectations are stupid high.
tbh, short of turning off data when the screen is off, and having extremely light use (like almost none), i couldnt even speculate what phones could go that distance consistently, short of leaving the phone sit there like a paper weight and never using it.
not trying to be smart, just being realistic, given my experience with about a dozen flagship smart phones over the years.
the guy who commented about the zero lemon battery might have been being funny, but seriously, for the longevity you expect, you should be looking at phones that have zl support.
i have a g3 with a zl battery. with average use you can get 5 days or more, and easily increasing with lighter use.
i tested the n6 before for life with less than 1% use vs time, and it was in the range of 6 days. but that was running a premium rom and kernel and strong service always.
where the n6 excels imo is for the normal user. i have shown proof of 8 to 11 hours screen time during a normal days use consistently.
most people are happy to make it through the day, and charge nightly while you sleep. when you state an expectation of 5-6 days, the comments are undoubtedly not going to be up to your expectations.

I respectfully disagree. I tried several ROMs on my current HTC One. On average, the late 4.x series lasted twice as long as the 5.x series with the same apps, usage and locations. I realize you can attribute whatever battery life fail was added to the OS as "personal set up" or "app". But it is what it is.

My expectations? I've been charging my phone once a week for several months. I went through several configurations to get it that way.
Obviously my use case for the phone is different from yours. I typically use under 300 minutes talk, under 300 texts, and under 500 MB data monthly. But I depend on email push throughout the day, need text and voice when there's an issue, and need reliable data and a good screen for remoting to my servers if there's a problem.
I don't give people grief about how they use their phones. Evidently it's a fun and popular thing to do here. Good luck with that.

honestly, i have no ideas about an htc, considering that my last htc was the g1, which i got in oct of 2008, lol. but whatever rom that you use on a nexus, does not have anything in it for battery life, besides whats in it from stock android. now some kernels do add in things that can help YOU save battery, by how you use or setup your device, but they just wont save you battery on their own. well, they will, buy not enough to notice. unfortunately @SoulSherpa, many people have tried to prove me wrong over the many years ive been with android, but none have. just because people claim better battery with one rom over another, doesnt actually make it real. people believe many things, much of it is not true.

its not different from mine, its different from 99.9999% of all other users.
i typically use under 50min a MONTH, under 200 texts a MONTH, and data, well im grandfathered so thats nothing to discuss.
how others use their phone is representative to how the manufacturers design them, for the average user who charges daily.
you appear to perceive my previous comments as sarcastic and statistical, the further could be from my intention.
i have a rather extensive android knowledge from helping other users for about 5 years. your expectations of any device are highly irregular.
we are merely attempting to make you aware of that, however unsuccessful at the moment...

The reason people treat your question like its weird is pretty simple:
While with minimal and careful usage phones can get through multiple days of usage, the battery life your suggesting, on any android phone, is going to require very little screen on time, limiting the hell out of its data connections, ect...
If you are seriously just trying to have an emergency phone that you can make calls on occasionally and fire up a terminal to remote into your server to check status or run a command or two.... Why are you paying for a 6inch screen with ultra HD display, a powerful processor, dual front facing speakers.... All this stuff that only serves to drain battery and add weight if your not using your phone for entertainment.
Your looking to pay extra for specs you don't need on a device with only "adequate" battery life instead of getting a modest phone that won't consume as much, with an external battery case that would probably let it run a couple weeks for you....

my nexus 5, without sim card, in airplane mode, brightness all the way down, can last me around 3 weeks. but, thats with 0 use. 6 days, with a nexus 6, should be possible, even easy enough.

Because larger screens make remoting much, much easier. Especially when it's a GUI. So, a "phablet" sized phone has always been appealing.
Further, I've been waiting for a "good deal" and the price dropped to $350. My m7vzw had its radio neutered (thanks Verizon), so when I switched to Ting (t-mobile) GSM my data speed hit the floor with EDGE only. The Nexus 6 has nice radio band support.

Have you considered a small tablet? (7 inch or so). You could set up a Google voice account and do all your calls/texts over WiFi/cell data. You'd get a far better battery life with far less effort to do so, and itd be even better for remote access.

I have, and you make a good point. But I still want something I can holster since I don't normally carry a man-pack or utilikilt
This Nexus 6 is pushing it for size -- the holster is huge. But the screen real estate is nice.

...and I seem to be on-track to meet or exceed the six day goal with my light usage (email checks and texts throughout the day, occasional remote, occasional surfing, occasional phone call).

My nexus 7 fits in my pocket no problem. And I'm a fairly average sized male.

S2 good for college

Okay guys so I'm on verizon and I just got my Galaxy tab s2 . I figured it would be good for college since everything is online and i can buy the keyboard case. Do you guys think its good for college? Is it fast? I don't play games on them . just for school, surfing the web, office etc. Or should I just take it back and get something else?

The S2 has an oled display, and when it displays white it eats the battery, while black uses virtually nothing, but as you say "school, surfing the web, office etc" has an lot of white, while tablets with lcd displays use the same amount of power regardless of what is showing on the screen.
Just so you are aware of this fact.

A cheap $50 tablet is good enough for college, you don't need a fast tablet to browse the internet. In regards to OLED consuming more power, that is debatable; if you run at inverted colors on webpages it is known to increase battery life by hours.
OLED will evntually replace all LCD when the manufacturing gets cheaper.

I say splash a little more and get a Surface 3 instead. For proper productivity nothing beats Windows, plus you may run into problems if your professor assign you coursework that requires windows software.

The S2 is more than adequate for school, perhaps even overkill.

If school is what you're worried about, then I'd recommend the Surface 3 as well. Those are fantastic machines.

Okay guys. So I just got my tablet s2 . I love it. Fast and its great. Battery is honestly amazing. I get 1hour of on screen time for ever 9 to 10 percentages. I unplugged at exactly 10 am today and I have been using it all day. Been setting up my calendar, downloading my school apps, ordering things for it on eBay, and even copied all my notebook notes on it already. Battery is on 83 percent with 1hr and 58 minutes on screen time .
I'm getting a keyboard for it and I'm all set.
I was also considering the surface pro but I didn't need that much power. I have a sony laptop at home and just needed this for taking notes and to have my textbook in it. It has been making my life so much easier.

Yeah, with my Galaxy 10.5. I get around 8 hours of screen time with app usage while using Lux to adjust brightness.
At night time, when studying with apps with night mode I can get about 16-20 hours of battery life.
I am not sure why, but my standby is not so good. My Ipad can last like 2 weeks without being charged. This tablet seems to drain more, but I am not so sure since I'm using it far more than my iPad.
I miss being able to charge to 100% with about 3-4 hours on the charger like my iPad, this one takes like 6 hours. But on average, with usage I get anywhere between 5-10% lost an hour.

I got my wifi on "automatic off during sleep," if you don't need notifications it will make a huge difference

Loving the 45mm BT Watch 3

Traded in my gear S3 and was skeptical after people said battery life sucks. I did what I usually do, Disable all health activity trackers and inactivity prompt, hr every 10 mins, manual ecg and spo2 twice daily, no always on, and bixby always listen turned off. I voice reply to 30+ texts a day and check it very frequently and you a countdown timer several times daily at work. I really only care about steps and HR due to my job being physical so no reason to have activity trackers turned on. I hit the 48hr mark and had 33% left. I am happy and waaay better than apple watch charge every day. I hated having to charge the apple watch to use sleep tracking. Sleep tracking on this watch is excellent. I am happy with the purchase. Was $303 after trade.

Good to hear that you like your watch. I am quite happy with mine (same model). One question: how did you set spo2 to twice daily, and where would you set ecg to automatic? Can't find a related setting for both in either Samsung Health or the Health Monitor apps.

Seems like it would be pretty easy to create an app that would take BPM three times a day. Just code it to only read if you've been sitting for 15 minutes. Get even more complex and have it detect when you've eaten, and to wait at least 30 minutes or whatever.
Even if the individual readings have a fairly high variance, you'd think an average over a week or a month would be a good indicator of changes/trends.
Same thing with SPo2 while you sleep. I think Samsung plans to do that, but right not that sensor is pretty clearly not ready for primetime.

Oh yeah-sorry, it was manually. The spo2 requires you to have rested for 5 mins or so for optimal results. Auto on that feature(if that was possible) probably would not be even close to accurate I am guessing.

I did it lying in bed today after I woke-up. First reading was 89, next reading was 88.
Still completely all over the place. Laughed when I saw reviews for Apple and you have to "rest your arm on a table, and don't move for 30 seconds". What a frickin' gimmick from these guys! The fingertip sensors start reading SPo2 immediately, your arm doesn't need elevated and you can even move around a little bit. Heck, you can even get readings while exercising.
I think the future is going to be multiple devices. A smart ring will be a critical companion to the watch - the ring will simply be better at reading temp and SPo2, and might even allow for periodic auto-ECG readings. Other possibilities will involve a sensor implanted under your skin.

Good idea! My reading is usually 95 or 96 but I have no baseline to compare it to.
