I have an I9000GSMH on Vodafone, from Spain. I'm just having a hard time figuring out which version of the firmware I need to install on the phone to get it to the latest stock. Can someone tell me specifically which software version I need?
**EDIT**
I have decent experience with rooting HTC phones. But, my own personal device was an Evo 4G. A popular enough phone that there was loads of simple information written about rooting the devices.
This isn't really a newbie question. It's just the samsung rooting/flashing process is very different from HTC. I've tried to figure this out on my own, but the last firmware I tried to flash on the phone via Odin has resulted in a boot loop. Now, I'm just reaching out to hopefully a more knowledgeable source for the information I seek. Can someone please point me in the right direction.

also checkout hdtechvideo ,totallydubbedhd, puggerduk, these guy give very good guides on flashing any rom hope it helps
I appreciate the link to the custom ROM. But, right now, I'm just looking for what stock firmware version I should be pushing to the phone via Odin.
You can try the version JVZ or JW1 are the last, you can find in Sammobile.com

I looked and couldn't find a match to what i needed so if it is somewhere please point me in the right direction.
So here's the thing i have a GT I9000m through bell. I have done a few upgrades and modifications without a real understanding (like senior members or moderators)
Any way here's what my phone looks like now
Model NUmber
GT-I9000
Firmware version
2.3.4
Baseband version
I9000UGJL2
Kernel version
2.6.35.7-I9000XXJVQ-CL281085
Build number
DarkyROM JVQ v10.2
So what i would love to do is bring it back to how i got my phone when i left the bell store(the 3rd time) back in Jan. So what i'm looking for is a complete idiots guide to going back to original firmware so i can start from scratch and update to the real gingerbread release then root my phone again. Now if anybody has any better ideas to make my phone run smoother, faster and still have a nice sleek look that would be GREATLY appreciated.
The reason why I want to do this is my apps force close,my map randomly closes, and it reboots out of nowhere.
P.s. I want to be able to update with kies in the future too. (Might be a whole different thread with that one)
Okay, it's easier than it sounds. Rule number one its not to panic. I know I'm not a senior member but I didn't join until I knew I could contribute. I've been where you are, and this is the best way I found to go almost stock. Go to the development section and look for a thread by Ramad, it has a ton of stock firmware that has been pre rooted, deodexed and zipaligned. This means that it has superuser capabilities, runs as smoothly as possible and is as good as it gets without a custom kernel. You want the firmware that is known as UGKG3. Look in the general section for a full guide on flashing with odin, but really you just flash in download mode with all 3 files and the 512.pit file. You need repartition to be selected. This will give you an almost stock, smooth as possible, rooted phone that can be updated with kies.
Sent from my GT-I9000M using XDA App
Oh, note that before you add any apps, you can install themes that require you to be deodexed. You did say you wanted a sleek look, you can check out the theme and app section for more info on that.
I too am looking for the stock froyo for i9000m. I have installed two separate packages both claiming to be stock bell firmware, unfortunately they have both ended up with the product code of XEE (sweden I think) when I want BMC. If someone could point me to stock froyo so I could update to stock gingerbread via kies I would be eternally grateful.
I have tried spoofing the product code which allows me to initialize the update in kies but I get stopped before anything actually happens with a "this version of the device cannot be updated" error.
The kies thing is kind of important since I plan on selling this phone to upgrade to an sgs II.
Thank you in advance.
Hello XDA community,
Lend me your ear..eyes.
I have relentlessley been trying to find a way to flash my phones rom to a ICS port but scouering the internet, hard it has been (Yoda Voice).
I am hoping that someone who has been able to sucessfully flash ICS on a Bell Vibrant [i9000m] can point me in the right direction. I see alot of i9000 guides but we all know how those end up when you try to follow them on a phone with just slight differences and I really dont want to have a *epic fail* moment and be forced to have to dust off the old Motorolla Milestone.
Whoever can help me will get will get the feeling of accomplishment and be labeled as just a nice guy, or girl.
-Additional Info-
The phone was sucessfully rooted using SuperOneClick v2.3.3
Model Number: GT-i9000M
Firmware Version: 2.3.3
Baseband Version: i9000UGKG3
Build number: GINGERBREAD.GK3
Let me know if you need anything else. I am quick to respond.
So please XDAers show me how to use the force. The force of ODIN if necessary

But, even though it will work, don't waste your time with Allgamer's endless method.
Here's how I did it without any issue at all!
Choose your ICS flavor (OneCosmics' Team ICSSGS or TeamHacksung CM9) and follow the provided instructions to the letter.
There is only one extra step once you're done : to flash a compatible 850MHz band enabled modem.
For this, download the CM7/CM9 compatible UGKG3 modem from the link below and flash via CWM.

VoilĂ , you have a working ICS on your i9000m... enjoy!

follow this post. At first it seemed like I was stuck in boot loop, but I unplugged the usb cable and plugged it back in. You gotta wait a few mins for it to boot, so be patient. This happened twice, but after, everything was sorted out. Then after you get ICS up and running I recommend installing the wifix apk to fix the wi-fi signal issue. You should be good to go then.
Hey guys i really need some help. I tried to install clockworkmod on my T-mobile samsung galaxy s (sgh-t959v) and i guess i bricked it. All that comes out on the screen is a phone and a computer. can someone pls tell me what to do to fix this and install the right way.
Thank you in advance
Fairly new to all this myself and don't have experience with T-Mobile but if you go here you should be able to get a Firmware for your phone: http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=SGH-T959V&r=5#regiona
You should be able to download a stock firmware, odin & everything else you need to flash your stock firmware. From this site.
Perhaps wait and see other responses though as there maybe a way to fix without flashing a stock firmware. Also getting some info from someone with your phone on T-Mobile may be better.

Just confirming that what scubadude said above. Flash new firmware, it is a soft-brick and therefore recoverable. Something that needs to be added however is that you will need to make a login in-order to access the direct link. If the link still doesn't work after that then click firmware and follow on from there..
Hey guys I'm in a bit of a pickle.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 WIFI/3G (Model GT-P7300 I think).
I somehow managed to install Overcome ROM on it when I first got it. Now I want to give it to my Dad and I would like to revert everything back to factory default stock and all. I'm not sure what a Kernal is and not sure if I need to revert that too but probably.
How do I best go about this? I am having much difficulty understanding from googling and reading forum posts and I am not familiar with the acronyms and lingo the community uses. Would you be so kind to please explain to me step-by-step detailed as if I was a child lol
Please link me to everything I need to download!
Oh and another thing: I bought this tab in Asia so it has English and other Asian languages installed. Can I install a different language ROM for my Dad? (I think he prefers Swedish). Will it be locked to any providers or anything?
Thank you very much in advance. I really need help with this
Here's the stock unbranded firmware for Nordic countries
Here's the branded firmware for Telia (couldn't find any other carrier branded for Sweden
Then just flash using Odin, that will wipe everything though, but you'll be back to stock
I don't understand how to flash with Odin .. I don't even know what Odin is! Please give me super simple instructions
I downloaded the firmware file and I put it on my tablet's SD card. I rebooted into Recovery mode and I try to apply the update from the ZIP file. But it says it cannot Open it?! What am I doing wrong?
All is explained in this post here, that is stickied at the top of this section
overome is quite a standard rom with features that are not really seen... the look is stock... I don't see a reason to revert back...
Thanks guys, I successfully flashed with Odin and I think it was a success. You have been very helpful.
But I am still not sure if 100% everything is set to default stock in case of a future warranty claim. Is there anything else I should do? Do I need to install stock Recovery as well?
Thanks again.

If you used Odin and one of the stock firmwares then it should have flashed a stock recovery as well IIRC, I'm pretty sure Odin on these tabs does the whole kit and kaboodle when it flashed
So here is the scoop. I've searched my a5s off in these forums but I can't get ahead. I have a i9000m that i want to root, apparently there is no one click root option for 2.3.3 GB, I've tried to flash a custom rom through odin, but can't seem to find the drivers for the device to be recognized in download mode. Basically all I am looking to do is unlock my phone, so before i pull the rest of my hair out and go back to my ****e old blackberry I am posting here, I know I'm the turd giving up and posting a new thread for questions that were probably answered eons ago. I also read somewhere that upgrading my touch button firmware was a good idea before flashing a new kernal..,. now they have decided to stop working
SG i9000m
2.3.3
baseband i9000UGKG3
kernal version 2.6.35.7-i9000ugkg3
[email protected]#2
build number gingerbread.gkg3
so if anyone can help me that would be great, because let's face it the blackberry doesn't hold up and I'd like to give it a good toss
EDIT: I've found the correct driver for the phone to be recognized, but I can't seem to find the original kernel anywhere. all the links seem to be dead.
So I'm wondering. CAN ANYONE SUPPLY THE ORIGINAL FIRMWARE FOR THE I9000M? I've read other users flashing the stock fw and then updating the keys in said fw and having their issue fixed. So can some kind soul please direct me to where I can find the files? Basically I'm looking for froyo 2.2.1 for the i9000m, but all the links are dead! and sammobile.com is down. can somebody supply said rom so I can flash back to original and fix my soft keys, which are essential to the galaxy..
