Is it.safe.to update my note using the standard software update if.i have rooted it?

best way is to use mobile odin to flash stock firmwares and keep the ever root option when flashing

So does that mean i shouldn't use the Samsung updates our is that just you're preferred method?

Galaxy Note Launcher Lag

Hi, does anyone have any tips as to how I can eliminate the lag on my Note when using other launchers? Every single launcher apart from stock is laggy. I'm using GB and don't want to flash any ICS rom yet because they're mostly buggy. Thanks.

My phone is rooted. I've frozen all the dumb apps. Does it make a difference if I remove them completely?

Just re install the ROM again and restart your note... Before this process remove all stuff from internal kernels....in you're mobile

I don't feel like rooting my phone. Is there any other way to solve this problem?? i seriously need help
If your not rooted and you ran update via Kies then i would load an old back up recovery from Kies and re install.

Have you tried to download OTA rootkeeper and choose Hide Root from inside it ?
Its ridiculous how it wont work with rooted phones, there must be a patch somewhere ? Im a Virgin Media user myself so i dont have this issue.

unroot by flashing the ROM again
Tried reinstalling Rom with mobile odin. Now have stock 4.0.4 with no root and stock recovery and it still won't work. Could this be because of using mobile odin?

It's almost the same using pc or mobile

I dont get why sky go still says im rooted

Have you taken the sky app out and replaced it?
If you have the copy of the app you had when rooted it may be the problem. Was for me. I did the above and it worked.
From box 13......
Tried that too. Ill try again though for good measure

Instead of going back to ICS through Odin try to flash the GB LC1 ROM (which is full wipe). Chances are you have flashed a non wipe stock ICS ROM. Hence some undesirable leftovers.

I wouldn't ever flash an ota update. If you want to update just download rom from sammobile and update with pc odin.

Can't find OTA update

Hi! I've been trying to download the OTA update on my phone but it stays on:
"Checking for available update.
Please wait..."
Anyone knows why? My phone is rooted by the way and bootloder is unlocked. Please help.
Sent from my MB886 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
When the device is rooted and is running stock ROM, the OTA updates are not working properly on most devices. For example, in my Galaxy Y, when I tried to install a new firmware it stopped during the installation and rebooted on the old firmware. Then it displayed the known s*** like "The installation was not succesfull. Please try installing the firmware using Kies".
Otherwise, if your device is running a Custom ROM, you can update to the newest version without a problem.

Ok. Thanks for answering. What if I unroot the device? Is it possible the update works if I unroot the device?
Sent from my MB886 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
If you unroot your device, you will be able to install a new firmware on it. Are you using stock or custom ROM?

OK then. The solution is on the post 5. Unroot the device, install the new firmware and you can root the phone again if you want.
