Hi, the "problem" you're encountering is normal. You can use recovery normally

I've been trying to flash Cyanogenmod 7 on my Captivate for a while now. I'm rooted and unlocked with ROM Manager installed and flashed Clockworkmod Recovery.
When I go into Android recovery mode and hit "reinstall packages", the meter fill about 1/3 of the way and then says:
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted."
I also tried restarting in recovery mode from ROM manager, but it just sent me to Android recovery.

A couple of things first.
You should've posted this in the Q&A section, it's a more appropriate place for it and you'll get more help.
Do you already have CWM installed?
What are you currently running on your phone?

Hello
Yesterday i had a problem with my phone. It stucked on "entering recovery" (CWM recovery). I reinstalled it and it works but i can't boot on the rom. it loops on HTC Logo. So i tried install Zip from recovery but i got " E: can't mount SDCard.
I tried to install RUU but my phone is an Orange Branded and RUU isn't available.
I dont know what to do. Thx for your help
(sorry for my english i'm french)
Umh, try with flashing the boot.img of your rom with fastboot.
However, "E: can't mount SDCard." isn't a good notice...
download the all in one toolkit. use it to erase cache the install recovery. should work after that i went through the same thing a couple of times the toolkit saved me. i think it has something to do with cwm and factory reset. if you are using cwm you might want to switch to twrp for now until it gets fixed
Problem solved. On mac i had tried the method "Install sideload" but it didn't worked. But i tried with One Toolkit on Windows and it worked...
anyway Thx for your help
Good, resolved!

Hi there,
I am trying to kill the original LG Android 4.1.2.
I managed to:
-become root
-installed Rom Manager 5.5.3.7.
-downloaded via Rom Manager Flash ClockworkMod Recovery with message "Successfully flashed ClockworkMod recovery"
-Current Recovery: ClockworkMod 6.0.4.5
Issue:
When pressing "boot into recovery" in Rom Manager, the phone is rebooting, but the boot screen contains only the LG logo and two error messages written in red on top of the screen:
"[LG_Security] Error, boot image signature"
and
"[LG_Security] 5 seconds after power is turned off for battery savings"
Any idea
Thanks

did you unlock the bootloader bevore flashing CWM? (which is a requirement for installing 3rd party recoveries)
Hi
im trying to upgrade to cm 12.1 following this guide
Ive downloaded the files and installed twrp and coppied the cm12.1.zip and gaaps.zip to sd card (and checked with md5)
however when entering twrp and trying to flash the cm12.1 (following a complete wipe) I get an error saying "e: whole-file signature verification failed"
the s5mini then reboots
Ive search around the net and people surgets I should turn off verification in TWRP. that option isnt present in the TWRP menu.
What should i do now?
I have same problem
My problém was that i have not rooted device...
Solved
I appears that you first have to flash the file inside the Odin archive and then afterwards flash the TWRP file. Then your'e in business
Hi I was rooted with kingroot, and saw i had a system update, so I unrooted and tried to update, but when I got to the bootloader, I got an error "failed to validate boot image" and "failed to validate recovery image" and when I restart the phone, it boots and then attempts to install the update again, and now my phone is unuseable.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this
Thanks
ps my bootloader is locked
