[Q] yellowish tint on entire screen of my galaxy note - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i purchased a galaxy note day before yesterday. the display quality has already started declining. the whites look yellowish / beige and there's a little yellowish tint all over the display making the colours look unnatural. do all Indian notes have this problem? mine came with android 2.3.6 on board. how do we solve this problem??

See my thread with exact the same problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427831

Lines thru the capacitive buttons and led?

Just got my note 4... upgrading from a galaxy s3.
I notice on the lower capacitive buttons there are visible lines in front of the lights, same for the top led indicator.
Normal?
Yes.

I'm guessing you got black right?
My last 3 phones have been white and i was planning on a black N4......but once i noticed the choppy look the lines made to the capacitive buttons on the display model, i went with white again. Same lines just not visible due to lighter coloring.
That is the design. It not defective it normal
BAD ASS NOTE 4
Yes I got the black.... it may not be defective but it's annoying!
Thanks for the quick reply!
I'm sending mine back today. Getting a replacement because of the PINK screen that occurs when the light hits the device. I'm getting the White one. Looked at a tmobile store And the black was the same as mine. And the whites WHITE was clearly different than mine. Mine seems brighter but it also has that tint and the my white looks sort of blue.
Sent from another Galaxy! Note the difference!
I got the black and I have the lines too. It's one of the few things I don't like about this phone, it just looks like a manufacturing defector something. It's not enough to make me get the white one though, I had a white iphone and that glaring white border every time I looked at it was too distracting.

I keep hearing this more and more and from my experience it rings true, many of the black notes seem to have purple tint and less overall brightness.....
It has good brightness..the black just has more brighter whites than the white note 4. why? I don't know overall brightness is the same.

The first black one i saw in store was not as bright as my note 3 and the whites were purple/bluish......almost passed on the note till i tried out a different display model a few days later, it then became apparent that there were some notes with the issue and some without....i went with white because of the issue the op is talking about....don't like the lines through capacitives...makes them look choppy

How is the screen uniformity on the P9 Plus?

I often see color uniformity issues on amoled panels especially on whites or in greys. For those who have a keen eye and know how to check, how is your screen uniformity? Post some pics on what image you tested it with.
I've had 2, I'm a printer( so see everything?) and have noticed the screen to have the top edge red and bottom green, sent one back but the new one had the same thing. Any one else notice it? Or maybe I should get some 3D GLASSES ?
Its a very common quality control issue on AMOLEDs even on the latest Note 7 it is still an issue, Aside from the Galaxy S1, I have yet to see a uniform AMOLED panel especially in whites and greys.

Anyone think the display's white is heavily yellow tinted?

Hi, I have a VIE-AL10 (the China one), and I've been using the phone fine for a couple weeks, until yesterday when I was using a oneplus 3 side by side and noticed the white on the p9 plus is very yellow-ish compared to the Oneplus 3. So I pulled out other phones too and indeed, the p9 plus's whites are noticeably less white than on other phones like the lg v10 and oneplus. I even compared it to a p9 (meaning the smaller phone) and even the p9's whites are much whiter.
Has anyone noticed this? Or is my unit defective? I don't really mind all that much (I mean, I didn't even notice it until I had another phone side by side) , just a bit weird. (btw I have gone into settings and try to make colors more cool, and nah, white still come out yellow.
Amoled display has lesser white compared to IPS.
If the whole screen is uniform in that yellow tint then I guess it is fine, mine is a tad bit reddish on the upper quadrant of the display. Im a little lazy to send it back for a replacement but i have a full year to do so anyway.
I have the same phone and I too think it is tinted a little too yellow, even though I selected "Cold" as color tone under display settings. I came from a Z5 premium where I totally loved the screen. Hopefully future firmware revisions provide more options to change this.
i compare side by side with another p9plus, and noticed mine looks bit yellowish.
this happened to my samsung s1 too...

Anyone else facing a light yellowish tint on LCD

Anyone else facing a light yellowish tint on LCD on Nokia 7 plus. It is nearly unnoticeable until you place it next to another phone and compare. Phones like Samsung have colour temperature setting for this.

You sure night lighting is turned off?
Yes, our phone has a warmer screen if you compare it with anyother phone, prominently noticeable on white background while comparing

S20 FE Red tint

Just got a new S20 FE, I have a Red or Magenta tint on sections of the screen when looking at an angle on the screen and straight directly looking at the screen. It is only clearly visible on a white screen, pretty noticeable when surfing websites, etc. Hard to capture in photos but I tried my best.
The tint will move as you move the screen, and quite bad at an extreme angle. I checked some FE display units in the Samsung store and they all have this issue, some are better than others though.
the XDA review has the same issue actually: https://www.xda-developers.com/samsung-galaxy-s20-fe-review/
"The viewing angles, though, are disappointing because the display still features visible angular color shifting to blue as well as a rainbow out interference effect at extreme angles. Newer Samsung OLED panels have eliminated the rainbow out interference effect, and also reduced off-axis color shifting by a significant amount. The Galaxy S20+’s viewing angles, for example, are much better because the color shifting is much lower. Strangely, even the cheaper Galaxy M51 (review) doesn’t feature the interference effect issue (that is likely caused by the polarizer)."
Anyone else have this issue?
Thinking about asking for a replacement

A lot of phones have some sort of tint or rainbowing when viewed at some angle. I know the pixel 2xl had a very noticeable bluish tint on the whole screen when viewed at angle, but yeah you can still check and make sure.

I went and checked out a bunch of FEs at the Samsung Store and all of the phones have some of tinting viewable at angles but mine seems worse than most. Its showing some of the banding straight on, which is annoying. I might get a replacement.
Anyone else having this issue?
