Hello!
I have SXL
Unlocked Bootloader
Clockwork mod by Paul O'Brien
Permanent Root
Stock ROM 1.05.401.4
Kernel: 2.6.35.13-g04ab942
I would like to get 2 way call recording on my phone. Question is: is it possible to patch stock Kernel to get this function? Or I have only one option to flash my phone with custom ROM and modified kernels? And if there exist some ROMs including patched kernel, can u please list them.

I'm working on my own custom kernel.
If you have the patch, I can use it.

I already flashed Your ROM with your kernel. I'm watching your jobs progress some time. Impressing. So i understand that so far there is no 2 way call recording patched Kernels for SXL.? I still can use my Incredible S for calls with record and wait for news.
Good luck!
P.s. and no - i don't have 2 way recording patch for SXL kernel

I have decided to keep ota 2.3.4 rom but I am rooted. What custom kernels will work with the ota 2.3.4. When I try to flash a custom kernel it breaks the camera. Thanks.
Do you mind me asking why you want a custom kernel?
AFAIK there are no kernels designed for the 2.3.4 update although some might work just a mater of finding one. Could i suggest just flashing cm7 that way you can flash some kernels and on top of it you have a custom ROM with a mess of other features.

If you're looking for a kernel providing Audio Boost & support for EXT4, here you go, plus within the post there are a couple other kernels that work fine.

Hi all,
I've just recently migrated from Windows Mobile platform to Android platform and still learning more about it.
Just wondering whether we can just simply flash kernel for stock ROM? or just flash kernel without flashing ROM? What will happen if the kernel doesn't match the ROM?
I'm on unrooted Stock 2.3.6, Kernel version N7000DXLA1, [email protected] #2 (btw, what does this DPI thingy means?)
As what I've understood, we have to root the phone 1st, then have CWM install and flash via CWM?!?!?!
Used to play around with things call HardSPL/SoftSPL & Radios while on Windows Mobile...is the concept same for Android?
Any SIFU care to explain?
Thanks in advance.

Hey mate welcome to the team..!
Kernel can be flashed in 2 ways
1. Via CWM i.e a custom recovery.. Bt a long process!! (but root is required.)
2. you can do a odin flash... Ur version is LK1 look for the kernel for that..
DPI is resolution for our phone default is 320... Bt 1 root then go to deep... All the best!!
Flashing radio is generally not required.. Here odin is the magic tool.. Which take care for all..

Thanks buddy for the clarification but I'm not quite fully understand yet.
When you mention ODIN, is't Mobile Odin PRO? If that's the one, then am not planning to purchase it yet as i've not fully understand how things work yet...but I've seen somewhere in the thread something call Mobile Odin Lite for GTN7000? Will that be the same that I can try?
I've seen in the Android development that people are talking about AbyysNote Kernel & Franco kernel which is very useful...can i just root my stock 2.3.6 then flash either 1 of this kernel?

my phone is unlocked using htc dev but still s on.. so this steps u shared is for s on or s off
*deleeeted*
No you can't flash kernel through recovery if you htcdev unlocked since \boot is write protected. You have to fastboot flash it. There is a guide for htcdev unlocked phones in the kernel thread

Maan I hate this htc.dev method, it's always so complicated
-Deleted my cmt because of wrong information-
Yes it has a lot of limitations for example there's no way to flash a radio

I want senior member to say something about it please, as i cant wait to know that is it working or not !
The music related mods is not dependant on the kernel..
Sure it will work if its made for "Stock"..

Hmm
i dont know whether it is made for stock or only for CM7..
i have searched in the XDA thread than i found that dev of the thread of Beats Audio has tested this mod only in CM7..
so m looking for someone who have tested this mod on "Stock".
Hi.
My power button is kind of broken and before it breaks completely, i want to enable S2W on my phone.
Its S-ON and i dont want to S-Off it. Its kind of risky i think.. I have rooted my phone successfully by HTC-dev unlocked bootloader.
Hboot: 2.02.0002
Sense: 3.6
Android: 4.0.4
I just want to get S2W functionality on my phone. I read about this here and i got choice i guess:
1) Flash a custom ROM
>> Will this work with S-ON ? I have to flash the kernel manually, right ?
2) Flash just the kernel that supports S2W
>> Is there any kernel that i can flash manually that includes S2W and works with stock ROM ?
Thanx in advance...

you can flash a kernel with s2w, but will need to follow instructions to get the kernel booting on your phone with s on. zimage injection does not work with s on
You will have to repack the kernel and flash modules, like on hox

Viper uses redux kernel so of you flash that it will work. There's a separate kernel thread, you can find kernel and modules in the zip. There's a full boot.img in the redux zip
Ohk.. i got it... Thanx a lot...

Means i will restore my nandroid and will move to stock rom and the redux kernel will work with stock htc rom too..

Correct. You might need to flash the sense 3.6 version to have wifi working. sense 4 and 3.6 use different wifi drivers
