Found the official update package for 513 - Dell Streak 7

Hi guys,
Found the official package for 513
http://mobileupdate.dell.com/PackageProductionLocations/LG7-820W_513_20588_00.pkg
one more problem, I still dont know how to extract or prepare the recovery image from pkg files
Can anybody please guide me how?Please.. I think this is my last resort so I can get back to stock recovery.
thanks...

Hmm, seems like only the version available is the EU 3g one, I know for a fact that the EU wifi one also exists and assume the US 4g/wifi ones should too.
Will have it decrypted and uploaded in a few hours

513 is decrypted and uploaded now, you can find the recovery link on the wiki,
no patch notes, 514 is nearly identical to 506/7 and 513 should be just about the same

thanks TheManii..for decrypting the files (and sorry for bugging you in PM), unfortunately it did'nt resolved my problem about flashing a new recovery.
The read-only issue is my most probably my problem that is why I cannot overwrite the recovery on my DS7 and why everytime I put a new file on sdcard it disappear after rebooting.
Guess I have to call dell / retailer for return and fix it. Its a known issue as per what I read on the forums and hopefully they will acknowledge that fault.
thanks much bro!

I had that happen before I just pin hole off and apx mode and do a nvflash. I also manipulated the .img
So it had my service tag and serial number. I'm doubt changing the service tag fixed anything but I did that just in case nvflash didn't work and I'd have to send it in

JI6 OTA delta files

I just received the OTA update and when I rebooted to install I pulled the battery
and booted into clockwork and pulled the delta files from /data/fota and uploaded
them.
http://www.mediafire.com/?df44pptybdcrm0h
an interesting note is that they are updating the SBL and it is exactly the same
as the one in the 3-button issue fix thread.
for any one interested in the redbend delta format here you go.

Yes, my phones have been fixed for awhile and the update was canceled when
I pulled the battery to grab the update files so I cant confirm that the SBL is
actually installed but T-mobile is sending the fix out to customers phones.

I'm looking at the delta file format in the hopes of finding some clues on how to generate a delta file so those of us stuck on the DK28 modem with broken USB (Epic4G) can get a different modem in there.
Can you give me some more info on the discovery you made regarding your "interesting" note?
A quick look at the files shows that they are packages meant for redband. I see tons of repeating sequences so the "delta" files appear uncompressed.
I'm not sure what Im looking at,.. Are these decompressed delta files just before they are applied?

[Q] Nexus One, Return to stock 2.2 after trying 2.3.3

After the initial jubilation of finally getting Gingerbread on my stock Nexus one, I have come to the conclusion that its a little half baked and setting aside all the little annoyances, the current battery life bug that seems to be affecting some people (myself included) is just terrible.
So my question is, how to I get back to stock 2.2 (or 2.2.2) now that I have 2.3.3 installed.
I don't want to root, or open the boot loader or do anything to invalidate the warranty. Is there a way ?
Thanks, and sorry if this has already been covered somewhere else (could not find it)

Worked for lots of people, don't know if it works for 2.3, it worked for 2.2.
So.. ya might just wanna keep an open mind.
Anyway, some of the links on the page are dead, you might need to dig around for what you need.

I tried this also (just to see for myself, instead of listening to the rumors), and can confirm it works.
The only comment I would make is that the filename is NOT case sensitive (I got it to work as PASSIMG.zip, passimg.zip, and also combinations like PassImG.zip)
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Passimg method is working? Nice find! I imagine this will be of great help to many people.
Thanks for all the suggestions and help, I will give it a go.
In terms of the most recent version that I can go back to, I assume it has to be a manufacturer shipment ROM or full system image.
The latest release on shipped roms is FRG33 http shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Passion%20(Nexus%20One
I found on the HTC developers site (http developer.htc.com/) FRG83 but the link seems to be broken http dl4.htc.com/RomCode/Source_and_Binaries/signed-passion-img-FRG83_0923.zip
Assuming I can find a copy of FRG83 system image, am I correct in assuming I can also rename this to passimg.zip and downgrade or does it have to be the FRG33 manufacture shipped rom?
ps, sorry i cant post url links hence the http
If it's a shipped image, then yes.
If you look in the zip, and see a bunch of image files, instead of a folder structure, then it will probably work...
Let me know if you find FRG83.
I know someone who would LOVE to find it!

Hi,
I know this question may sound stupid but I have this doubt and I would like to understand better one thing:
Can someone please explain me why it's not possible to restore 2.2 from 2.3.3 using directly a nandroid restore skipping the PASSIMG.zip part?
I'm new to this and I'm still learning some things, but if the nandroid is a backup of the entire system, why can't I just wipe out everything and restore from that file?
Thank you so much for your help!
If you have nandroid - great.
If you flashed stock image - you don't have it anymore, because stock image overwrites your custom recovery, and without unlocked bootloader or option to root, there is no way to restore it.
Thank you so much for the reply
So, just to be sure: since my bootloader is unlocked this means that if I wipe everything, then I can flash a custom recovery and then restore from a nandroid backup without having to flash first another stock ROM and root again, right?
That is correct.
However, keep in mind that rebooting your phone when you soil have the stock ROM will cause the stock recovery to be restored, so as soon as you install your custom recovery, you need to boot into recovery without rebooting the phone...

I dont know if/when i'll be able to fish up the us4g or eu wifi ones as the 506/507 ones were named very stupidly. I didnt find the original 514 us wifi one but i did find the eu 3g one.
Keep in mind that this version may be techincally a leak, it was built on dec 19th and shouldnt be released till next week or so under their normal schedule (this is also completely ignoring the fact that the past few weeks have been holiday weeks).
If 514 really hits OTA it may not be till the end of the month
Found all four of them
Thanks Again that was Fast!!!

Yeah I can confirm there is a download error for the US 4G recovery... if TheManii took it down then it was probably for a reason and he will get back to us. I'm gonna try and flash using the 506 recovery and see what happens.. report back in a little bit
UPDATE: I flashed the 506 recovery that I used to flash the US 4G update package and it worked just fine for installing this update

It was mentioned above that it would be released by Dell soon and I ran across it. Funny, checking for updates, still shows no updates!
Just a confused newbie! Since I'm still stock, I can go this route.
The 514 recs havnt been prepared yet, I'm gonna do them soon.
If you already have 506/7 installed you can simply use the equivilent 506/7 rec
Edit: recs have been uploaded for 514 now
Who has had success rooting the new build with superoneclick? I tried twice and it hung on step 7 both times. I then proceeded to install superuser via cwm and now have root.
Because I am still somewhat of a noob regarding Android I am not sure if superoneclick did a partial root or what.
One the plus side for some reason the update seems faster. My titanium backups are installing noticeably quicker.

I tried updating to the 514 today and wasn't able to root unless I flashed HoneyStreak R8, which I don't want to really do because for some reason Netflix will not run on R8 here in Costa Rica, but when I was in the USA last month I had no problems. Well then I tried to go back by flashing the 506 ROm for my US 4G Streak 7 and couldn't root that either, once again the only way to root was by flashing HoneyStreak R8...
If anyone has any ideas I'm open. If not, about the only thing I know to do is NVFlash HoneyStreak R2 and start from there
Wanted to report a positive bug fixed with 514 vs 512 that came with my device. When docked in my video dock, the streak will ask to disable the speakers ok or cancel. with 512 no matter what was said it disabled. With 514 it works
Now I can dock at my desk and watch Netflix
Have not found any bugs yet....
I believe 514 was a specific hotfix related to the dock, at least that's what I hear
I'm damn happy they fixed it. After seeing Dell stopped selling the streaks and the Video Docks I honestly thought I was screwed. Surprised they even continued to bring out software updates.
Bad enough I couldn't even get a Streak 7 dock. Morons sent me a streak 5 dock. And then told me after I attempted to return that they do not have one for the streak 7 in stock nor are they replenishing.
A pair of Dikes and a bit of patience fixed that problem
Does anyone know if this update will work on T-Mobile branded Streak 7?

TPT ICS NANDROID Backup (rooted w/superuser - completely virgin) and other goodies!!

Hey hey XDA! (ignore the account name, I was 13 years old when I first joined XDA in like '08)
My father bought a refurbished TPT from TigerDirect and literally nothing worked. I factory wiped it and tried to update it so I could get the cameras working and other such things - but no luck. I started to crawl my way through the internet but neither Lenovo nor anybody else seemed to have the answers. I thought that since I was failing the SHA1 hash checks that I might as well start replacing the files and see where it gets me. Five hours later:
First try to restore my ICS nandroid backup, but if not, follow the mini-guide below! Also look at the end of the post for all my files!
For those of you that can't update because you're failing assertion checks:
Root your current version with one of the root tools in my package. Go to your advanced properties and see which Lenovo internal version you're running "0089, 0075, 0060, etc". There are three toolkits that I included and they all work; use the one for your version.
Flash the Ventana CWM.
Do a nandroid restore through CWM by going to backup->restore. It's going to wipe and install a clean 0075 Honeycomb build.
Root again, the pre 0089 package should be a relatively easy root to do.
Restore the factory recovery. I have one fresh from my tablet and one that I found floating around on the internet. You could use either (the one floating around worked fine for me, but if you want something 'newer' just use mine).
Connect to a WiFi network and check for updates. This is the part where it might get tricky. Not all of the files in the 0075 build that I attached were original (it wasn't my build, not my fault). If you get an assertion check, look at your error and see which file has failed. I only had to replace three files, gps.conf, Generic.kl, and the busybox binary. This theoretically should be the same for you. Try to update without replacement, and as the updates start to fail replace the files that are causing failure. The ones you need are attached in my bundle, but I have others too - so let me know if you'll need them!
By this step you should be on the ICS update. Root using the debugfs kit (in the ICS folder for rootkits) and then flash Koshu's recovery (which only worked for me on ICS). Do a backup. Live a happy life.
This procedure isn't meant to be very 'easy'; I am just attempting to make your inconsistencies match mine so they can be fixed in the same manner. A quick Google search showed me that a lot of people are missing different files with barely any files available. Everything I have was extracted from official packages from previous versions. I think I managed to 'get lucky'.
You can find everything that you need on my website. I won't ever take this down save for a plane crashing into the datacenter where it's hosted. There are copies of all the files I mentioned in this tutorial and even copies of Lenovo's official updates since their servers go down more than Kim Kardashian.
Go to http//davidstancu.me/TPT
I'm also working on a small Android app to replace these files to the factory files (kind of like the way Windows has sfc /checknow or whatever that command is. I would also like to extend a massive thank you to everybody who made the tools that I used to get this done.
Since my account doesn't have 10 posts yet I can't post a link, so you'll have to manually include the colon. Sorry
What is your tablet version? US? ROW?
I am looking for 16 US version.

don't worry. I just created a new blank nandroid.md5 file and it took.Unfortunately, my TPT would not boot up. It just stuck at the Lenovo logo. Any suggestions to get it working?
My guess is that a file was corrupted. Try redownloading?
Thank you so much for the detailed guide and the files! My TPT came with a strangely named bladenct...0037_0001 (US) firmware so I couldn't have updated to ICS otherwise.
In other words, confirmed working for a US 16GB TPT. :good:

Thanks for the reply. I am trying to help another member get his up to ICS, and he has the same weird software version. Did you restore the nandroid or follow the mini guide?
I used the mini guide. Unlike the original poster, I found nothing broken in the stock software. The rear camera has some serious magenta artifacts on the side but that remained in ICS and CM10 so I'm guessing that's hardware damage. (This tablet seems to have been through a lot. Thus I got it at a reasonable price from ebay.)
Awesome! Thanks again for replying.

[HELP THREAD] HTC One M8S - Back to Stock - HOWTO

HOW TO get your HTC One M8S back to Factory / stock.
Attention 1: This is NOT for the regular HTC One M8.
Attention 2: This is for the HTC One M8S also known as the M8_QL_UL
(The One M8S does not have a separate subforum on XDA.)
Hi everyone! I saw that many people who have a HTC One M8S have problems with restoring the stock HTC RUU. It is a little bit difficult. So here I'll supply you again with steps that worked for me.
Most of this is a copy from a post I made earlier. But I saw that many of you still have some problems. So here is a dedicated thread.
I have used this method multiple times to restore my phone back to factory defaults. I hope it works for you too!
Warning. You will lose your settings. Everything will be reset to the defaults.
Read these important notes before you begin!
When you need fastboot: only HTC's own fastboot program will work. You will use fastboot, for example, when you want to flash a custom recovery.
Other fastboot applications will not work correctly in my experience! So be sure you use HTC's.
If you need it: HTC will send you a link when you unlock your bootloader. But you can also find fastboot via the same page as where you can find the RUUs.... see below.
Do you have an SDCard ready? You must have one to get this to work and it must be big enough. ADB sideload will NOT work!
Is your phone relocked? It must be! If not, relock it, then come back.
Most of the problems happen because people read too fast. This stuff just takes a long time.. so don't do it if you are in a hurry. And do read carefully.
Are you ready? Ok! Here we go.
Download the RUU zip you want to use. I have used ...HTC_Europe_1.16... BUT later I found this did not allow the newest OTA update (as of august 30th, 2015). Maybe I will test 1.11 some day later.
However, I think that 1.11 is the right version. Not sure where to download the RUU or fastboot? Click the button.
For me, I downloaded the RUU zip via the generous hosting by @El-Conkistador. You can find it via his post here. On his page there is a directory called Firmware (Expert). In there is a directory called Firmware Crypted (Original HTC). In that directory are multiple directories containing RUUs. Choose one for your device, download it, then come back here.
Open your sdcard. It must be fat32 or exFAT formatted.
Copy the RUU zip file onto the root of the sdcard. Do NOT extract it. Just copy it.
You must now rename it to: 0PKVIMG.zip. The first character is the number 0 (zero), not the letter O!
If you know how to do this, take the md5sum from the RUU zip on your computer, and 0PKVIMG.zip on your SDcard. They must be the same! If not, there can be a problem with your SDCard.
Safely unload and remove the SDCard from your computer.
Power off your phone.
Are you sure you want to continue? Then insert the SDCard into the phone..
Take a deep breath..
Boot the phone to the bootloader: hold Volume Down. Press the power button. Release both buttons when you are inside the bootloader.
When you are in the bootloader, press power once to enter fastboot mode.
The restoration process should will now start. Confirm on the screen when it's asked. Then wait patiently, it takes a long time!
Nice detail: there is a small sidebar at the top right side of the screen that will show you progress. Sometimes it will go back to 0; it will fill up more than once.
In case of failure
In my case it failed the first time. Probably because a sector on my SDCard was faulty. I found out by verifying the md5sum of the file on the sdcard, it was not the same as the RUU zip on my computer, but it has to be.
To fix it, I copied the RUU zip to the sdcard for the second time, *then* deleted 0PKVIMG.img, and *then* renamed the RUU zip to 0PKVIMG.zip. Then I looked at the md5sum again. Now it was the same as on my computer... and then the restoration worked.
Still need help?
If you have questions, ask and wait patiently. I am not on this page 24/7, no one is. Just don't panic. Don't demand help. Maybe read this stuff again and see if you made a mistake somewhere.
It is logical that you are annoyed if this stuff doesn't go how you want, sure, it is not the easiest thing to do. I have tried to make it easier, but again, if it still fails, just ask your questions and wait patiently. Treat others like how you want to be treated yourself.
Good luck!

The exact filename of the RUU I used:
Code:
0PKVIM[email protected]50311_15.00_016_F_release_430101_signed.zip
Do you see a few green lines that say "searching for 0pkvimg.zip" when you go to hboot? They disappear pretty quickly.

i checked and it is fat32 and i still don't get where the md5sum is located and where i should put it .-.
the md5sum is a long string of characters called a checksum. It scans a file and calculates what number it should get. Other types of checksums are SHA-1, SHA-256, RIPE-MD160 and so on.
MD5 is fairly lightweight so that's why we usually choose md5 for files.
md5sum itself is a program that you can run from the command line. If you use linux, it should be on your computer already, so just do 'md5sum 0pkvimg.zip'. On windows, well, you need md5sum.exe and run that from a command line. But I have not used Windows in so many years that I don't know where to find md5sum.exe. I'm sure you can find it easily... I would google for this, but you can do that too so I'll leave that part up to you.
So: you don't put the md5sum anywhere.. you calculate an md5sum and compare it with the number I gave you previously. Hope this makes sense, keep asking if you need more help.
Hi guys,
Im new to all this I just want to ask for little help here my m8s has unlocked bootloader and modified (unofficial) software (says in bootloader)
Im running 5.0.2 soft ver
Soft number 1.16.401.10
Custom recovery TWRP
Phone is rooted but i need to send it back to htc as its dropping calls randomly within 25secs. All i need is the right ruu so its stock again and says relocked (i know how to relock) official soft and that OTAs would work.
Also do i leave this custom recovery there or before the ruu will i put in the stock one, relock the BL and then the ruu?
Any help is much appreciated.

Just relock. The Ruu does the rest! I used 1.11, the exact filename is in my OP. If you have a vendor phone I'm not sure but I think you can still use the same RUU as I have; if not, you will be notified from hboot. Does that answer your question?
Yes thank you.

Tried on windows twice then got a blue screen (on the pc) did the 1.11 on my macbook and phone is now back to official and relocked!
I owe you a pint of beer sir. Thank you!

Great! Glad to hear.
Cyanogenmod is still in the works. I have finally gotten a preliminary version to boot, so to those of you who are interested, head over to the CyanogenMod 12 on M8s thread...
HTC One M8S: Cyanogenmod 12 Discussion
hi all,
I give up, downloaded three zips from this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/make-custom-recovery-htc-one-m8s-t3114245

1.11 - combined signed
and every time I get error "no image or image wrong....no gift file....loading image 0Pkvidiag.zip - No image! loading 0PKVIDIAG.nbh...no image or wrong image"
...inside the zip file there is no 0PKVIMG.img file so dont realy know what to rename . . .
...yes checked md5 sum and they are OK
...sd card is fat32 (tried copying zip file from two different laptops , no difference)
...Custom recovery TWRP
this is m8s european version which was rooted , fastboot shows now RELOCKED and this images just dont work ,
this phone is giving all sort of issues, no custom roms with updates, SIM_Card error sometimes 10+ times a day causing call disconnections and reboots, cant update to lates htc soft as on custom rom it just dont work.....

Hiya. Ugh I get how frustrating this can be!! But you're close, so we'll get you sorted out. FYI on saturday and sunday I'm not around much (family comes first ), so replies might take me a while... but we'll figure it out.
You need this exact file:
Code:
0PKVIM[email protected]50311_15.00_016_F_release_430101_signed.zip
Copy that to the sdcard and rename it to 0PVKIMG.zip, don't extract it just rename it. The md5sum should be:
Code:
70eece34781f0b1449f98f03e842f249
If that won't work, we need to figure out why. That comes next. :good:

You should use Cyanogenmod, not Pandora. Pandora is old, is not updated, and contains a very problematic security issue with libstagefright. Use cyanogenmod for your own good!
