Hey guys! N00b question: I am running stock KL3 ROM with AbyssNote 3.1, can I just flash the new LA3 modem? Or is LA3/LA1 required?
Thanks in advance.
From what I've seen from my old SGSII is that you can have different radios for different ROMs. Correct me if I'm wrong guys. But I've seen that :s
The OP there replied, at last! Yes, it seems you can flash any modem over any ROM/Kernel!
Hope this helps someone else looking for the same issue.

Hi guys and gals,
This may sound like a really silly question, but I'm currently running the JPU firmware which i had no trouble flashing with Odin, and Darky's ROM V6 is working like a beast. I want to put the XXJPX firmware on my phone now and am having trouble finding the firmware with Modem, PDA and CSC files. This may just be due to a lack of understanding on my part but am really confused with it now.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance!

You can download the firmware from samfirmware.com. After unzipping the firmware archive you will get a single TAR file which you should stick in the PDA section in Odin to flash. No need for re-partitioning.

Darky's ROM 6 is based on JPX. So unless you want a clean install, you already have it.
hi,
i am still pretty n00b when it comes to android, but i really wanna try and put a custom ROM on my I9000. i recently updated to the official 2.2 firmware via kies.
i've been snooping around and really like the look of Darky's v7 gingerbread edition 2.2.1 custom ROM, i was reading the instructions, and it said you need a kernel with recovery 2e by chainfire. i went on that forum and was looking, and i don't think there's one for my firmware.
my baseband is dtjp3 and build is dtjp5
when i was looking through CF-ROOT files, i couldnt find one that was like mine?
CF-Root-JPH-v1.0
CF-Root-JPH-v1.1
CF-Root-JPK-v1.1
CF-Root-JPM-v1.2-Busybox-1.15.3

sorry for the n00b question guys, would appreciate if someone could clear this up!

What do you mean with ends in JVQ? JVP is older than JVQ you know that!? And JVR is the newer one.. You have flashed JVQ to your phone, why wont you flash JVR to it.. same processes!?
There are good flash tutorials in this forums!

Like I said, although I have owned other smartphones, The Galaxy S is different when it comes to flashing, the JVQ is the when you look at the baseband (in settings/about phone) thingy or do the *# code, the phone, pda and csc end in JVQ, i wanted to know if I can flash a rom which has JVR or JVP at the end, as there is more great roms, i didnt know if it was phone/country specific, or whether it will brick my phone, thanks to anyone who helps me!

Flash whatever rom you want.. as long as it is for an i-9000... and if you get no service flash a modem that works for you.

Hi all
I have been testing out the new JB roms on the i9000 development thread and all seemed to be going well. Then when I tried to phone this morning there is no dial tone and it sounds like there are aliens on the line! I have now flashed cm9 and the problem remains. Has anyone had this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it? I will try flashing stock sammy rom later.:crying:

Try to reflash your modem. If you don't have a seperate modem zip get one from siky's modem thread in development section and flash it.

You are a member since 2011.
So why do you not use your knowledge about how this forum works and look into the sticky threads with excellent tutorials how to root?
And because of that no answer to your question but the link to the standard thread for this.
Good luck

I gave you the link with the tutorial you should use. If you find this confusing there is only one advice possible:
do not try to root your phone, stay on stock rom and be happy that you did not risk to brick your device because you were too lazy to read and learn.
Sorry for being childsh. Ok i will try to read them first. Thanks in advance
Sir dai. Can i ask another question? Can i flash lt9 jb based kernel in xlr5 ics kernel? Both by phillz. Thanks agin in advance
As explained in Philz thread. Only use kernel that is for your rom. And the whole how to is in that thread.
Does LT8 sounds similiar to DXLR5? There are lots of kernel version in Philz thread. Cant find the DXLR5 kernel?
Edit: you even choose a different Android version for kernel. JB kernel on ICS? You are funny.
