Hi there!
I really like the HTC Sense and dont wanna replace it with another launcher.
There is only one thing i dont like with sense.. The appdrawer, I want to be able to create folders in the appdrawer, in the same way in samsung devices and so on...
Is there any MODs for that, to create folders in appdrawer?
//Holm
Probably not in the drawer but on the screens. I could be wrong, I just never seen a mod like this myself.
····· LG G2X · MIUI ·····
I want an app drawer replacement aswell. Alt Drawer keeps crashing and the dev stopped supporting it.
All Apps Organizer is what I use. Awesome app! Though, Super App Manager might be more what you're looking for...

I really like some of the Samsung widgets, but to not like the Touchwiz launcher. So, I installed Launcher Pro, which I vastly prefer. Unfortunately, now the Samsung widgets are not in the add widget menu.
Is there any trick I can do to get them back?
I'd also like to know this, the Facebook Stream widget was really useful, the stock one is awful!

Yeah that is the widget I want most as well.
It is the best I have seen for android so far that integrates both twitter and facebook. I tried out this one on the market called "Socialite", it is *OK*, but not as good as the Samsung one.
So i have to decide, do I want a decent integrated Facebook / Twitter widget, or do I want a decent launcher?
???
Does anybody have an answer to this? I myself like pretty much all the futures in TW - would mainly like to change the 4 icons on the bottom and maybe even have the ability to hide the notification bar.
Is there a way to incorporate TW samsung widgets into launcher pro for example?
Thanks
I suppose Samsung's widgets are tied to the Touchwiz Launcher and incompatible with other launchers
It's a pity because I really like the Accuweather Clock over the other available widgets. But LauncherPro is so much better than the Samsung Launcher, I can't go without a launcher that lets me hide apps from the app drawer due to the massive amount of crap it gets flooded with.
You can change the left 3 icons on the bottom (but not the Applications one).
Just go to the Applications screen and press Menu and choose Edit. Then, move the icons off and put another in place.
I'm pretty sure it's impossible. I wanted to do that but was told by different ppl it was impossible. Same goes for Launcher Pro widgets in Touchwizz (i prefere the LP ones vs the Samsung). They are tied to the launcher u use.
You could put Home Switcher on each of the home screens of TW and LP then just switch between them just like moving to a different page. Just an idea.
Thanks fro the ideas, sounds like it's a no-go for right now at least.....
One more thing, does launcher pro juice the battery as same as TW? And when I used launcher pro in the past, I really liked to use the option "hide notification bar", i think it gives it a cleaner look, but at the same time it won't notify me when i receive an email ( other than the sound), I did search this in the past with no luck, so is there a widget, icon, something that I can install that will show on the screen when I received email, when using LP?
Thanks
I use executive assistant but it is a paid app. Worth it I believe though.
Hi guys
I know this topic area has been posted before, but I wondered whether there was a way to sort the apps alphabetically now specifically that FroYo has been released?
I tried looking at one method, but I couldn't find what they were suggesting under settings.
in the list-mode it's alpabetical though.
I know. But I don't like it. I like Grid View. I know it's picky but it'd be a really simple thing for Samsung to do... :/
Search in market for TouchWiz Application Sorter.
It requires rooted phone and stock TouchWiz 3.0.
Hope I'm not hijacking here, but is there any launcher except Touchwhiz that has a list display? I'd actually prefer a pure text list display with no icons, but that's unlikely I'd guess.
There is a modified version of touchwiz for froyo in either the Apps or development forums that does that and s also supports landscape mode. Works great

Hi
because of the Touchwiz 3.0 issue with not sorting alphabetically in grid view (crazy development by the way) i switched to GO Launcher EX which is much much better. It has many more features and is still quite small.
Cheers
Alex
I know this topic is rather old, but there is a solution.. although a dumb one.
1. Go into settings.
2. Go into Applications
3. Select all applications
4. Go down to TWLauncher or something to that effect.
5. Clear Data
Back out of everything... you'll notice TouchWiz is not working anymore. Press the home button and wait a bit or restart your device.
Everything now sorted properly.
**NOTE: I've had my home screens reset too, although this doesn't happen all the time.. If you decide to use this method, be prepared to add stuff to your home screen again (widgets, modified 4 buttons at the bottom, etc)**
"appzorter" downloadable from the market for free works fine to sort the apps alphabetically in the app drawer on touchwiz UI

Thank you very much. This is exactly what I was looking for.
Best app for sorting apps: appzorter. Download it from the Android market. It's free.

Hey guys,
I bought a Samsung Galaxy S yesterday and loving the transition from iPhone to Android.
After talking to some android experts on a IRC, i have been able to install Android Froyo 2.2. The latest version. I have installed Odin and Voodoo Lag Fix. I have used quadrant and compared results before installing odin etc. I am not a root user currently and don't know how to be one on 2.2.
Now I want to install custom themes and icons. But I have no clue what to do. Like no idea.
I want my SGS to eventually look this.

I am really into designing and will want to eventually create my own skins so I am taking baby steps, and want to first learn how to install other peoples themes that they have made etc.
Looking forward to all your answers.
Thanks
Looks to me like they're using launcher pro.
The first one would be the hardest to get because you'll have to change the icons one by one using an app found in the market called desktop visualizer. It allows you to place png files (pictures) as icons and assign a certain task to each one along with renaming them. They're are also using fancy widget for the clock or beautiful widgets. The status bar on top is most likely changed by a rom or theme.
The second one is very easy. All it is is launcher pro with it's dock icons (icons at the bottom) changed out. With wallpaper found in many wallpaper apps. A custom clock most likely found in the market and custom text clock and percentage widgets. Check out clockr if you want a text clock.
The third one again appear to be using launcher pro. Which by the way a home replacement app. Extended control app for the toggles. digital clock app found int the market. And a custom status bar.
I currently using have a G2 and I'm on cyanogenmod rom which allows altering aka customizing your status bar.
i don't proof read my post so forgive or my spelling and grammar.
You best bet to finding out the exact apps are going to the vibrant forums and looking for the huge homescreen picture thread and asking for help or asking with widgets they used. I'm sure if you'll find alot more answers there.
Edit: Better yet. Commonly used widgets.

So.... ive been digging around this morning to no avail........
What im looking for is an app that i guess would be considered a simulated app drawer? Not a home launcher. For example, it would list all apps and allow you to run them from within itself as shortcuts just like the normal app drawer does. More specifically something that would allow the changing of said apps icons. At the moment i dont care about any battery drain side effects that using an extra app drawer app would cause.
Anyone know of anything like this?
Note: Remember im not talking about an entire home launcher, im well aware of most all home launchers and there abilities or lack there of.
Thanks in advance.
Edit: At best the closest i can come to this is to create a folder and add apps to it by dragging folder organizer shortcuts with custom icons in it into it. This is a time consuming process and needs to be manually updated every time an app is installed.
Something like Simi Folder?
Thats one option i was looking at but when it comes down to it it would basically require the same effort that folderorganizer does.
I think what i really need to do is research creating icon "packs" that i can link too that would auto assign an icon to an app. Simi is a bit more pleasing to the eye though.
Edit: haha thanks for posting that i just reread the simi folder thread and realized i missed the fact that it has support for icon packs... So does folder organizer though. I guess im kind of looking for something thats right in my face.... 0.o... Im just not to fond of trying to learn how to create icon packs... wonder if i could just mod one and sign it with a test sig...
Edit Edit: Nah after installing simi folder its actually less capable of doing what im looking for then folder organizer is.
I know you're not looking for another launcher, but have you checked out Go Launcher Ex? You can create folders inside of the app drawer with that launcher, which is what you appear to be trying to do.
If you already checked it out and it's not what you're looking for, then... at least I bumped your thread
Herp derp Captivate XDA app.
Have you tried circle launcher? It allows you to. Create a widget on the homescreen and within it you can choose what appear you want it to launch
Its.essentially like folder organizer but.with eye candy I guess. Not really sure.how else to.describe it.

I was thinking the twgtglauncher puts the app icons in tiles. Maybe you can edit that launcher. Are you trying to create a "Glowen" app drawer?
I've searched through the forums, and I can't find an answer to this question:
Is there an app (or part of the framework.. or whatever is the appropriate area) that would allow me to get the look of the Android 1.6 app drawer with its slide-up/slide-out/pull-down feature? I had found one a while back (I don't remember the name.. something with panda in it, maybe), but the app was a full-fledged launcher with the drawer and the launcher wasn't any good.
I know it's a little nitpicky, but I like the UI idea of physically opening a drawer to see all my apps. If there's a way to extract it from 1.6 and drop it in, that would be ideal, but I'll admit I know next to nothing about how the Android system works.
On a side note, I'm running GB on Mosaic with Talon's kernel (at the moment), if that is of any use.
Thanks in advance, even if the answer is no.
i need same thing to, i think is called slide drawer if you find/found it please let me know (for now i found only launchers witch change all things)
The panda laucher you were talking about would be called panda home if that helps any.

Thanks. I couldn't remember the name.
Yeah, that's it - Panda Home has a drawer style called "1.5 drawer", and it's exactly what I'm looking for.
Now I need to figure out how to get that same functionality out of the Android source.
Well, not me per se - I don't know how to do that.
So I guess at this point I ask politely if there are any Android wizards out there who know how to extract the app drawer out of an old version of Android and make is something that could be dropped in a current version.
The "Tag Home Launcher" is what you are looking for. It features a slide up app drawer like in Android 1.6. Only the design of the drawer knob is a litte bit different. I'd like it to be exactly as the one in Android 1.6 but I could't get that. Tag Home is as close as I got.

Thanks for the heads-up on that launcher. It's got the drawer I'm looking for, but it looks like the same issue as Panda Home - it's part of a launcher. I'm looking for something that could either be used as a widget in place of the app drawer for whatever launcher I'm using.
The more I think about it, maybe I'm going about this the wrong way. Perhaps it would be best for me to point my request at the makers of the launcher I like, and see if they can implement it into the launcher (horse before the cart and all that). If anyone has any more ideas, I'm definitely interested, but I think this might be a moot point.
