May I know for this tab as it don't support calling function,
but can it still use app such as "whatsapp" and "viber"?
as those apps still need a phone number?
wifi only version and wifi+3g version both can or cannot?
yes you can
Doing that with my 8.9LTE.
You need to grab the apk file from somewhere as the market will not show it (the tab is not a phone).
You also somehow need to import your contacts so that they can show up.
Your sim card has a phone number even if it is not meant for calling.

ok since i've got my g1 from my friend i've never planned to have it connected to make phone calls/texts only development (because the g1 wont work with alltel). so i've been wondering how could i make my g1 an mid, is there a way i could remove the dialer, dialer storage, the default email program, messaging, voice dialer, and contacts or would that ruin the entire thing because some apps need the dialer etc? and if i did this could i still use a sim with data plan? because you can buy pre-paids with unlimited internet for about a dollar a day (which i planed on buying). or is there a way to get rid of nearly all the phone features about it and by all i mean all apn setting, call setting etc. Because if not im off to android development land
no one? not a single person knows?
You can build a rom however you want. You can add whatever and remove whatever. And you can have a prepaid data plan you will just need to add the apn settings.
Hi,
I'd like on my G1 (first CM5/6/4.2, now ezGingerbread) to show not only my google contacts but also the SIM-contacts, like the HTC-Contacts App on my DesireZ does.
I would NOT like to copy them, b/c the SIM is sometimes used in a dumbphone & I don't wanna update the numbers on two+X devices.
I googled a bit & found dialer one, but I do not see an option there to display SIM contacts along with the others. Would be glad for any pointers!
I've been using the One for a few months, it's running the latest, unmodified OS.
Yesterday I noticed the call history is full of 'Unknown' blank numbers. To clarify - I take a call, when I finish the call enters the history as a blank entry, with name 'Unknown, and NO NUMBER showing for the call.
Looking through the list, it's happened to most incoming calls.
It never used to do this until yesterday.
I'm wondering what's changed! Why would it start to do this?
Any help appreciated!

Thanks Yatindroid, I tried all that, but the first call I made it happened again. A true record of the call in the history, and alongside it a blank verson
Unknown Caller ID

which android version you are having ?? if it is 4.4.2 u will not face this Unknown ID issue.
only the 4.4.3 update made issues for caller ID which doesn't recognize the country code of that related country service provider. when you remove the country code it will show the correct ID but then the Viber/Whatsapp/Line will not recognize the number without the Complete phone number.
you can by pass this by going the Gmail > Settings > Phone numbers: Default country code: "put a country you will never visit"

Thanks for the responses guys - I actauly fixed this yesterday, but thinking what it was I recently installed when this started... and uninstalling it! It was the Klick app (Cheap eBay version of the 'Pressy' Button!)
Uninstalled it and now it behaves fine.
BTW The Klick button is sort of OK, you can set it to launch an app, ie the camera, but intuitively then you expect it to also operate the camera, which it doesn't. Plus setting it to operate even when the screen is locked (as you would probably want, for instant-access) of course means I was always finding I'd knocked it.
So a good idea, but not really that functional. plus caused a glitch with my phone history!
Also HTC headset fix app causes it in 4.4.3 - it adds empty number socdouble click doesn't recall on headphones!
Hello, just wondering if its possible to assign contacts to either sim1 or sim2, especially for outgoing calls.....i.e. personal contacts vs. business? Ive checked online and some of the solutions dont exist for oreo.
I know there are 3rd party apps that can do this but was hoping to be able to do it on the stock rom.
Thanks
Not on the stock ROM, no.
The closest thing to that is just remembering to hit the correct dial button from your contact list (i.e. SIM1 or SIM2), since you're presented with both options in the contact details.
Thanks, what about a custom Rom?
Its only a big deal when your in your car connected to bluetooth ....you select to dial a number then it just sits there until you pickup the handset and select which sim to use. Defeats the purpose of hands-free.

I haven't dared to try anything other than the stock ROM and I have no intention to. The phone works extremely well for me as it is. Why not just tap whichever handset symbol with the SIM number you want to call with? There is a setting where it will ask you if you really want to use a SIM card that's not your default upon dialling or messaging but that's a global default, not a contact-specific default.
At any rate, it's just a matter of tapping the correct icon to dial out on the correct SIM and you only have a 50% chance of getting it wrong. Don't become too reliant on automation. Even GM and Tesla wound back the use of auto-robots to build their cars.

Tapping the symbol is absolutely not an option if you are using e.g. your car's infotainment. You can use your contact list and pick anyone you want, but after that you can call or text, there are no other options. If you don't have a preferred SIM for calls, the call initialization will abort.
Shame on Samsung for not having any option for binding the contacts to any of the SIMs. Most of the users buy dual SIM phones for using office/privat SIM with the same phone, no question that almost everyone needs the possibility of binding most of the contacts to one of the SIMs.
I've recently moved to a Mi A2 from a OnePlus 3. One of the good features of the Oneplus phone app was I could switch between sim cards before making a call then the app would remember that selection for next time. For example if I phoned my wife on my personal number it would remember that, but if I called my boss it would dial from my work provided sim card.
This feature doesn't seem to be in the Google phone app. Instead I get three opeions in the settings - use sim 1, use sim 2 or always ask. The problem with using always ask is that Android Auto refuses to make calls in my car as the software is expecting me to wake the screen and answer the question - sim 1 or 2?
Anyone know a solution to this? At the moment it is to select use sim 1 in the settings (I rarely dial out using my work number) so AA works, then toggle the setting if I need to use the work number. This is not ideal.
While I haven't tried one yet, I'm sure there are third party apps that let you do just that.
A search for 'dual sim dialer' resulted in

Google Dialer has that functionality, you have to set the calling sim for individual contacts by opening the said contact and long pressing the number you want a default sim on and then tap on 'set calling sim'

Thanks, I wouldn't have found this option without your message. I've set defaults to the handful of people I need to call from my work sim and all word great.
