Hey everyone.
I didn't really know if I should post it here or in some general forums, but...
I'm running GingerDX v22 with Alfs v6 (not capped). I decided to install the Advanced Task Killer from the market to free some ram and I've got a question.
I added the stock SMS app, GO SMS (which I use as the replacement for stock app) and Whatsapp to ignore list for ATK. When I select Kill selected apps, it says "60MB Memory free" for example, but when I go to Go Launchers "Background apps" (or w/e it's called in english), it shows that there's no SMS, GO SMS nor Whatsapp running. Will that affect receiving of my messages ? Or can I just simply leave it like that ? I'm a newbie when it comes to programming and how those application work, so please show some patience to the poor guy
Regards
take from android market batery dr its free and hi has task kiler i hawe whit gdx +alfs v6 80-95 mb free ram
sciagnij batery dr z marketu tam masz opcje task w task wejdz w serwice i wymus zatrzymanie aplikacji ktore ci nie potrzebne i potem bedzie wiecej wolnego ramu u mnie dziala
Mmm.. Well I don't think it will affect in sms, In whatsapp yes affects because it does not support 3rd parties Task killer apps, But in sms I don't think so, I'm using stock rom 2.1 and advanced task manager, and I'm still receiving sms
Thanks for the help guys. I just installed Battery Dr. and I'm getting around 56MB free (according to GO Launcher's info), but it's satisfying me as long as my phone works smoothly and I receive my messages
Regards.
reboot you phon and then go to bateryy dr and kil aps you se what changed

Hi to all,
Was playing around many task manager software and etc etc to find a perfect task killing solution.
Finally found the best possible combination, now i always have 280 to 300 mb of memory free. Posting it here so that it will be useful to many.
Software needed.
1. AndMemory.[Rooting Needed].
2. Advanced Task Manager.
3. Process Monitor.
4. Fast reboot(Optional).
How to:
1. Install AndMemory and configure the preset of "Top Speed".
2. Place Advanced Task Manager's widget and Process Monitor widget in homescreen.
3.Configure the Process Monitor.
---->settings-> Autokill preferences-> [Select first 3 options].
---->settings->Widget Preferences->Widget Kill Action->[Select Kill Al Process].
---->settings->Widget Preferences->Top Value->[Process Count]
---->settings->Widget Preferences->Bottom Value->[Memory]
Thats it!!!!!
Note: If you want to free memory manually just click those two widgets placed in the homescreen.
Now the system always has more memory available, which keeps it lag free and also saves battery a lot.
Hope this helps our forum members
hey bala..can u plzz share ur weather widget or any link??
@ adiii
Search for "LG Optimus 2x weather widget" in google .
I think i should not post such links here.
People can also use "Quick Reboot" for closing applications instead of "Advanced Task Manager"
bala I cant find in the market
1. AndMemory. is the name correct?
My understanding after reading a thread here on xda is that killing the process is not helpful accept that you get higher value of free ram but many apps will again occupy the ram as they are designed to do so & by doing so they start much faster. let me find that thread I will post here.
Found that thread
Why You Shouldn’t Be Using a Task Killer with Android
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=678205
After reading that I would prefer to have lag fix applied or use tweak provided by rex4u instead killing the apps that should be better .......what do you say?
@ sgsl
I read that article, nice information. But every task manager is not the same, if all the task manager simply kills the process alone then there is no difference.
The above combination gave me lagless phone usage.
Here is the link for AndMemory
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/andmemory-for-android/
This AndMemory tweaks the built in android memory management.
How memory optimizer works
http://andrs.w3pla.net/autokiller/details
whats ur opinion?
As for as rex mod of build.prop, The following are the tweaks made,
ro.ril.gprsclass=10
ro.sf.lcd_density=230
All the other are same as my original build.prop. There is no tweak for better battery management as said.
Also having one more doubt , the "ro.ril.gprsclass=10" tweak needs a customized kernel in order to work.[May be im wrong]
Waiting for reply from rex....
hey man
use Super Manager(all in one)
ur memory always 240+
when u unlock u get 313+(i get)
no more widget needed
c my result

@bala_gamer
I only installed And memory & I don't find it freeing more memory than other apps which Ihave been using so I uninstalled my apps & then checked it with And memory its still the same (always 135-200mb free) and that too you have to do it manually the auto setting even after applying do not work.
Seems i am doing something wrong with this app & more over since i installed it something is eating up my battery even in ideal night it consumed 7% where as before it was 2% in the night.
I test it for 1 more day & see if i can get 300mb as you said but I doubt that freeing 300mb will last any longer it will free up & after 2-3 mins the apps again start & would consume it.
Hi friends,
Is there any way out thr to free up memory without rooting the device , i hv tried few task killer app from market but every time i kill the processes it restart automatically .. I m really wired up with this behavior.. Also great help if anyone share links to root the device from gb 2.3.5. Is it possible to root without flashing new firmware??
I think maybe I'm confused on what a Task Manager/Killer is supposed to do I've tried so many of them & I'm just not finding what I'm looking for I thought that a Task Killer would kill the selected Task ? but again & again, I kill the Task & a few seconds later..... poof, it's back ? Now I know not to kill certain things & bloatware can't be killed (no root) but I mean things like facebook, or IM, or Yahoo mail, or News ? Dumb stuff. Even if I add them to autoKill... poof, comes right back I just don't get it ? Why have a Task killer that doesn't kill tasks ? I've tried task killers on like 3, or 4 different android devices too, not just my Bionic & always with the same results

Click to expand...
Click to collapse
This is why everyone who knows anything about android will tell you not to install task killers, they actually slow your phone down and drain more battery because its always reloading apps. There is no way around this if you are not rooted, if your rooted and find that you don't have enough RAM then use autokiller to set the RAM usage parameters.
SGS battey reduce !
i have samsung galaxy 1S
i'm using ZDbox apps
so that show me when i recharge mobile full 100%, after the battery gone to empty i have more than 37h
now when i install same apps when i recharge..
I don't understand what do you mean, can you explain us ?
ok i have ZDbox apps this app can show me how many hours that can my mobile still run *when i recharge my battery full 100%. this apps show me 37hours after mobile shutdown.
but now when i install a lot of apps and when i recharge my mobile full that not show me 37hours just 25h with 100% of my battery
Ha, that's normal. When you install apps, your phone's battery life will be less longer, since the apps are often running in background, or have process lanched.
i install same apps like advanced killer or ZDbox that i can kill all the apps working in the background
but they comeback to run !! how to stop them
Task Manager is a very good app for killing background applications.
But if you want to remove system apps, you need to download root explorer from the market, and just remove the app you want in system/app
Hi
U can use root explorer ( but u have root??) be careful with system apps. For first you can get Titanium backup and freeze some apps like widgets, maps, email. When u do that u will see a difference.
i use zdbox & task manager i kill the apps more than 12 apps, but its comeback to run automaticly so how i con stop it !!?
i have version 2.3.6 already rooted i have titanuim backup i dont understand how doe it work !!.
up g
Some apps are always running in background.
So if you really want to stop theses processus, you have to delete the system apps which are running.
For example, defauts apps like gmail, etc can be remove and won't appear in your task manager if you delete them.
To do that, download 'Root Explorer', or 'Root Browser'.
Go to System->App folder and find the right apk you won't see running again.
Right hit on it, click delete.
if i delete and i want go to this apps i can do it normal ?? and i exit that hide
because my freinds has htc desire hd other xperia x10 with android they didn't have this probleme
guide
There is good guide to enhance battery life:
darkyrom.com/community/index.php?threads/guide-battery-life.2551/
I have a few apps running in the background all the time. Facebook and blood and glory mainly. Is there a way to delete them for good? On Facebook I set it that no notifications and never refresh, and its still using up 12mb. Same with blood and glory. Any way to kill them for good? Is there an app maybe? Thanks.
Well, mainly in android apps have 4 components.
Two of those are Activities and Services.
The activities have UI, you can activate and use it. The services doesn't have UI since they are hidden. You can't Activate them manually and their purpse is to open the app fast. Deleting the app is the best way you can use a task manager to close them.
Advanced Task Killer, for example, has the ability to set timer for RAM clearing, you can set it to whenever you lock your screen.
if i helped you, hit the thanks button
Another way for ram.
I think of the amount of memory (ram) have effected to play game or run any application smoothly.
So If you use kernel Semaphore 2.7.4(GB) or 1.2.0 (ICS) there are choices for big memory to run application smoothly.
I want to kill an app like Facebook, and then I don't want it to run in the background after I close the app. When I kill the process , after aboit 10 seconds it goes on again!
Anyone!?
Anyone 2x?
use advanced task manager.or delete the facebook app and install fbm.it does not run in the background
I've found an useful article about Task killer apps:
Being a new member, I cannot post outside link.
Search for: Task killer apps What they do, and why you shouldn't use them ->
Autostarts
There is an app on android market called Autostarts, it's an amazing app i've used it for over a year now and never had any problems. what it does it stops apps like facebook from starting up automaticly and keeps the app fully closed until you choose to launch it. Same goes for any other app which you choose to disable from auto-starting by itself. This is why Autostarts is so much better than say a normal task killer because apps closed by task killers restart themselves a few minutes later so your just running round in circles trying to keep the app closed probably eating up more battery trying to close it every 5 minutes than if you just left the app alone, where as with autostarts you dissable the app once then thats it it wont start until you tell it to, perfect!
Autostart sounds quite good
I'd also recommend using titanium backup to freeze the app, unfreeze when you want it and then freeze when you dont.
Autostart probably sounds like the easier option, no need to keep freezing and unfreezing, but knowing about titanium backup and freezing apps doesn't hurt
Since I don't know if this is related to QA or to App/Theme section i'll just ask here my "2" questions:
1) Which app is better for SMS? WhatsApp or Viber? People say sometimes Viber takes alot of time to receive messages, but I never felt this problem.
1.1) Which of them use the less data?
1.2) Which of them is actually faster? Performance, system resources needed, battery life etc?
1.3) Any button on WhatApp or any way to completly close it like on Viber?
2) Since the last version of Viber where its added a "+" sign near Text field to send Icons, emotes etc, I can't receive that "pop-up message" style. Seems broken. Any of you have this problem aswell? If so how to silve it?
EDIT: Solved 2) by reseting the settings on Viber,
Thanks!!
