I was trying to back up my ROM, but I chose the 10.1 because there was no 8.9 choice available. It soft bricked and I found the unbrick thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133590
I've tried to use Odin3 v1.85 to unbrick with the only firmware available: the Thai version at http://www.samfirmware.com/tablets.htm
However, every time I press "Start" in download mode, with the PIT and PDA sections filled in accordingly, it boots straight back into download mode. I can't get into recovery mode to restore, either. So basically, I know how to unbrick this thing, but what am I doing wrong? It's a P7310, by the way.
I promise I am not being a pain here.
The 8.9 forum is a little further down the page. Just after the 10.1 forum.
Goodluck!

Hey guys
Got a problem here regarding my GT-P1010
Basicaully I've followed a guide to install Froyo using Odin onto my Tab. The problem is the Tab now starts, goes to the home screen and after a few seconds automatically restarts. This cycle will keep on going unless I hold the power button and turn off the device.
I used a p1010 firmware from samfirmwares which I thought would be compatible.
Anyone else had a problem similar to mine and found a solution?
I've got access to recovery so I can wipe and install a zip, however I can't find a ROM in .zip format anywhere. Development seems to be concentrated alot towards the GSM or CDMA versions

ok you have gone into bootloop there cause it was the wrong version, (don't think there is any others that can bar stock. You need to get stock back onto your device.
Did you take a copy of it before you flashed?
check here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133590
and follow the steps and flash safe , Do not flash any roms\kernels that not made to your tab . or may aliens from the space will eat your nuts
K0sh there is none for the p1010 we can root and overclock install themes and such waiting for spacemoose to save us.
But its an excellent thread so ya should check it out just to reaffirm

i give him the guide to download the rom that made for his tab . and flash it . Spacemoose1 is saving us all
Thanks for the help guys. I've tried using Odin again with the latest firmware, but for the wifi version dont you have to select CSC as well in Odin?
I tried with just PIT and PDA files selected and with re-partition on but I still have the same problem.
Device starts up, goes to home menu and I get process crash report and then the device restarts itself
Can you get to download mode? if you can and there should be no reason try flashing from there the file should be place but clear cache prior to the flash.
Btw froyo is what we are on so why would you be trying to flash this is the stock?

Hi Alex
Yes I can access Download mode.
I'll clear the cache in recovery before I go to download mode.
Yes I am trying to flash stock firmwar, because the tab just keeps restarting itself when it boots to the main menu. I get an error message that android.media.process has crashed and then the loop starts all over again
Is this your backup stock?
if so worried that you changed the baseband.. Should have my tab back in the morning to help but and am not sure if the but did you download the correct region from Sam cause this sounds like either the bootloader got screwed.. Would clear everything again flash if you follow the instructions on the relevant link again that k0sh gave.. And on final boot this may take a while go leave the device let it finish then come back hopefully it will have finished then if that works great. If not then would imagine its back to sammy cause you have done everything right. Nor unleash come one else has any other ideas... Will ask just incase

What does android.media.process control? Can you install titanium and freeze that process?
Hi again Alex
The firmware I am trying to flash is the stock European one from samfirmwares. i dont have a backup so im just trying to use what i can access online. i've tried multiple versions of Odin from 1.3 to 1.85. ive left it to download the rom, it installs itself succesfully, does a few things in recovery mode, starts, goes into the home screen but i still get the same loop sequence. if you could somehow give me a backup from your Tab (if its a european one) then that would be greatly appreciated.
@ranger: Im not sure what the process controls to be honest and i cant even use the tab before it restarts itself again.
Also I've seen this post by from another thread

please let me know

You can pm (personal message) members directly for things like files, because most people can't post links or host files.
Just tap the member's icon on the left and choose "send a pm". Be sure to give them your email address.

So I followed ALL the steps needed to root my Galaxy tab (watched videos & read) running firmware 2.3.4 and I'm not having any luck. I downloaded the latest version of "SuperOneClick" V.1.9.5 and plugged in my device and hit the ROOT button... everything seems fine until it hangs at "Running psneuter". I let it sit there for more than 30 minutes and nothing happens... Can someone PLEASE help me??
Thank you!!

I too am trying to ROOT my galaxy tab - gingerbread 2.3.3.
Used One Click methos with Froyo 2.2, then along came Kies with Gingerbread.
So that got loaded in, but root disappeared of course.
So used the Original 'One Click' but it wont go past "Running psneuter".
I have tried all the other 2 variations shown for "One Click "
All hang at "Running psneuter".
Tried once on ''Gingerbreak'' but still hung there. sigh.
WHAT method was used to root your tab. I would love to know !!!
Can't boot into Recovery
Hello Everyone,
So I was using the popular root method found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239185 and after I ran the .exe and pushed the information to the tablet, I tried to follow your 7.4 step "Press the Vol Up button (the right Volume button) to select Recovery mode." under "Completeing the ROOT" section and my tablet didn't load the recovery it just froze. I've tried several times now but I'm guessing that something isn't quite right. Let me know if you say this problem with anyone else or if you have some extra advice.
This is the wrong thread for this question. I'll repost it in the galaxy tab 10.1 section sorry!
I have the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Tab and it will not do anything besides go to download mode!

There is no such thing as a "soft brick". You simply need to flash it properly.
Your phone is either "bricked" or it isn't. If its bricked you need extra hardware to fix. If you can simply re-flash your device its not "bricked" at all.
Do research before flashing to avoid "softy bricking" as you call it.

Visit the Overcome thread and download guide/files from link.
Hello all, I have a friend who wants me to help him install an updated version of Android on his AT&T Galaxy Tab SGH-i987. I have had god experience with CyanogenMod, so I thought I would try that. I read through quite a few threads and saw alot of confusing information. Many of the main articles had dead links, so I thought I would try the CyanogenMod Instructions. http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_p1 I ran through the instructions to the point where I flashed ClockworkMod with Heimdall. Whenever I restart the unit I get a single gray line 2/3 of the way across the screen which quickly fades to nothing. This happens when I hold volume up. Whenever I hold volume down, I can get to the download screen still.
Any suggestions or references to threads that would be helpful now. There are some soft brick instructions I was going to follow if nothing else to get him back to stock, but I would rather get him on CM.
Thanks,
Brennan
OK, I have done a little bit more research, and I am not sure where to go next. It seems I might want to restock (Not fully sure what that means) but all of the files are for Gingerbread, and I (was) on Froyo.
So I guess right now I would take any suggestions that will get the tablet back up and running, though I would still like to get to something Gingerbread.
Thanks for any help you might be able to provide.
Brennan

Thanks! I followed the instructions and got it up and running.
I was using safestrap to try and install a custom rom, I wiped my stock rom but my phone ended up dying (I didn't see that the charger wasn't plugged in) now I can't do anything at all. IT just gets stuck on the samsung galaxy s5 logo. I cannot flash any AP I just get an auth failed error. I tried using the G900AUCU3BOC4_OneClick but I get an error on that as well. Please help me. I figured that I don't have an OS to boot into now. And I cant downgrade from 5.0 am I screwed?
So you can't put your phone into download mode and ODIN your old firmware back on to the phone?
Please post everything ODIN shows when you attempt so we can try and help you further. Might want to try flashing with the BL and PIT file as well.
P.S. I don't know what G900AUCU3BOC4_OneClick is, but google took me to
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/att-galaxy-s5-lollipop-update-odin-firmware-80652/
And that doesn't look legit. Make sure you get all of your firmwares from here or sammobile.com. The "Odin" on that page doesn't even look like odin.
at&t s5 active sm-g870a
I was trying to root my phone following instructions on this site.
I installed the NE4 that was about 10+mb.
then I got stuck on the screen with red font that says "android system recovery <3E>"
I can still flash in download mode.
I attempted to install the full NE4 available from this site which is about 2.3 gig and it says FAIL! (Auth)
So then i attempted to load NG3 available from this site and it was sucessful but I'm still stuck on the "android system recovery boot.
Would anyone happen to know where I might get the "G870AUCU280F3 ROM"?
Also does anyone know what NAND erase all does when the box is checked in Odin 3.09?
Im thinking about checking that box and trying again.
for now I'm thrilled that I can still get to download mode and I don't want to mess that up.

thank you so much sir, but i do not understand your post.
I do very little with computers and internets and forums.
I've been scouring this site for the info i need and I'm either not smart enough to know what i'm looking for or this site is so vast that it may take more than a few days to learn how to navigate it.
I will say that I find it unsettling that the forum doesn't seem to recognize that our phones (sm-g870a) even exist, as evidenced by typing s5 active in the equipment box.
but meanwhile i will search for a general section.

Squirt,
if you have a question, please submit your own question in this thread instead of hijacking somebody else's question with an off-topic one. I suggest you take XRange's advice and check the "General" section of the "AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5" thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s5/general
Had you checked the general section, you would see that the 4th post down is exactly what you are looking for.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s5/general/how-to-update-to-g870aof2-5-0-keeproot-t3161733
Also, S5 actives do not need a separate thread, they are identical hardware-wise to the S5.

At this point I recommend you try and use Samsung's Kies software to restore your phone to factory, then you can start over with rooting or flashing roms.
Guide here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1984717
Please note that the link on that page to download kies is broken, so you can find kies here (you will want to download kies3):

Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

My bad
kies says it is not compatible with the phone so I had to install a new program which acted like it was going to do the trick. After 3 hours, It quit and told me that it was unable to complete the task.
