I am upgrading my 16gb touchpad to a 32gb one.
So is it possible to make a backup on my old 16gb HP Touchpad, and then restore to my new 32gb Touchpad? I dont want to mess anything up, so I wanted to see if anyone had already done this.
thanks in advanced.

I haven't done it, but I would think that if you did a backup of your current TP and transferred the backup file to your new TP, you could restore it. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
it depends what you want to back up...if you are on gingerbread and want to back up your apps and data, then i would recommend using titanium backup....if you want back up whole then you can use nandroid but I wont completely rely on it
if you are on ICS and then you shud start fresh to avoid any issues....
I don't see why it wouldn't work, cwm backups are simply the boot/cache/data/system and .android_secure dir's zipped up, its not like its an image of a hd.
In case anyone else was wondering about this, it DOES work and works just great.

Not until we have recovery, which we don't yet.
Does the Nook Color even have a normal hardware config where we would be able to flash a new ROM/Recovery into it?

My NC has sound issues which I believe will require a replacement. I would like to backup a ROM image and restore it on the new NC. How can I make this happen?

You can't back up a ROM yet (even if you could, restoring a nandroid backup on a different device probably isn't going to work).
Your best better is probably backing up your data onto your SD card with Titanium Backup then restoring that on your new one.

Just install Titanium again, and as long as the same SD card is in, you can restore all your apps with it

How would you back up apps you haven't installed?
Koush is currently working on a port of Clockwork Recovery, IIRC.
I want to clear my phone completely back to bare-bones 2.1. I do want to save my last good set up with froyo, so;
1) Is it a good idea to do a complete restore.
2) Is it better to leave the phone as is (leaving b/u in tact) or can I save the last b/u to my computer? If so how (Tibu, ROM Man???). How would I return this file back to the phone if necessary?
I never do any more backing up than Titanium Backup of apps. I know clockwork recovery can make a nandroid backup. It saves it to a folder on the internal sd card (Clockworkmod I think) and you could copy that to your computer. Then copy it back if you want to restore. The feature is there, I assume it works, but I have never personally done it. You could do all this through clockwork recovery, make the back up, and restore later if you want. You can leave the backup on your phone after you go back to stock, odin will not clear it off unless you do a "Master Clear". Then you would just have to reflash clockwork recovery, and you could restore.
I've transferred both tibu and nandroid (rom manager) backups to my pc and then restored from them after a master clear by copying them back to the phone from the pc. With the nandroid backup, you have to reinstall the rom first, and it must be the same rom you backed up.

Good advice thanks:

I was thinking this was the case. My only concern is on the re-install, would I be correct in my asumption, that not only would I need the rom installed but the theme as well?

Disclaimer: I've not tried it. A nandroid backup restores everything in the rom plus apps, but not the kernel, so it should restore your theme and your apps. In that case you may not even need the tibu.

Well it's done, we'll see how it goes when I need it
I think the trick is having a working base rom and it being the same as the backup. Id be curious to try restoring a previous version of the same rom. How bad could it get?

That may not be a simple question to answer with any certainty. I would not even consider attempting it unless both phone models are exactly the same, you didn't say for sure that this is what you were meaning. If the models are the same: insure they have the same bootloader and modem installed. Then I still would not do it unless the ROM on the second phone is comparable to the ROM you are moving to it. The reason for this caution is that partitioning schemes are not the same on all ROMs, it can even change in a newer version of the same ROM.

I am replacing my Note with a new one and want to make a complete backup of the entire device so when I restore it to a new phone it will be identical to the old one. Is that possible? If so how do I do it? What app do I need for that
Thanks

Hi tarsierspectra! =)
I've never heard of one app able to do that. If you find a way to make an identical "image" of the whole device to later on restore, then please let me know. That could for sure be useful to know!
Until then you can make a nandroid backup (a backup in cwm recovery). You can read about it here at xda. Save the backup on computer or SD and then transfer it to your new phone and restore. Also copy all your content from internal SD to computer and then back to your new device. The same with your external SD. Then I think you will have two very close to identical GNotes. I've not tried it myself, but I think it will work.

Hey just wondering, Using Honeystreak R8, and since HC cant seem to go beyond using 1.9GB storage for apps. I am wondering, whats the best option to have it install or move the apps to sd? Would apps2sd still be ideal? I am so used to things from my G1, even my Xperia play where it just did a symlink option and the system itself just had everything install to SD.
Anyways figured I would check here. Kinda annoyed that I cant even update my apps cause it says no storage. =/

I'm pretty sure you can use a previous version of Honeystreak to increase your app storage space. I personally use the 4GB of app space and then upgrade to R8.
Ok, so an older version would give me 4GB? Which one? (Wish I had known this back when I wondered why people are using 2-3 diff versions of it lol)
Also is it gonna just let me downgrade to the older one or am I going to have to use nvram method to even get that going?

The NVflash for R2 has the option 2,3,4 and 6GB partitions and I'd guess that you'd have run that again to upgrade to R8 again.
Finally. A real reason for me to Flash R2 lol. I always wondered why people did that. Even made posts wondering about the versions etc. Even mentioned I went from stock HC straight to R8 without issues. So I assume Ill have to rely on Titanium Backup to restore? Also when using NVflash, will I need to worry about my user storage area being wiped? Do I need to back up that all 1st to my PC then flash?

NVflash will wipe everything.
I have the speaker buzz issue. I'm getting ready to get a new One ordered in. I'm currently running the old ViperROM and have Titanium Pro. My laptop is Windows 7.
So, what do I need to do to be able to backup all my apps and data so that I can easily install them onto the new phone with the updated Android version on the new phone, without backing up and restoring old system files from my current phone? I'd hate to loose progress on my games.
I've never quite dove fully into Titanium to understand all its various functions.
From what I understand, the new Ones currently ship with 4.3 and mine is still on 4.1.2, so I dont want to screw anything up.
Thanks
Make a nandroid backup, copy it to your PC than copy it to the new phone. You can also use TB, but this way is faster

yeah, I'm gonna do a nandroid, titanium, and manually copy everything. That way, one way or another, I'll have what I need.
