Hey, i'm having an issue with cyanogenmod 7 on my Nook Color. Switched from cupcake because I thought I'd have greater compatibility with apps. Since the change, programs that once worked (e.g. snesoid, beautifu widgets) won't book. Just get hung and ask me if I want to force close. I'm using the tablet tweaks and everything... is this just how it is, or did I mess up somewhere along the line? Thanks.
I can't speak for the specific apps or ROM ur using, but yeah this happens with the occasional app. Remember that u r using an unfinished product. It will get better as CM refines it. Android as a whole is a buggy system. Its never going to be as functional as something like iOS.
Did you wipe either Cache and/or Data partitions before flashing CM7? Wiping the Data partition will wipe all installed applications and settings, however, it will prevent any weird issues arising from incompatible settings across different ROMs and OS versions.
I don't know about snesoid, but my personal experience is that BW works very well in CM7.

Sounds like something's wrong. My Beautiful Widgets works great. I'd try reinstalling using these instructions:
I have similar problems with both Beautiful Widgets and the XDA app. When I log into the XDA app, it gives me a force close pop up. However, when I use the XDA app without logging in, I don't have any problems.
Which instructions are you referring to in that MASSIVE 100+ page post?
Thanks.

The first post on that page.. That's how I flashed CM7 (pretty standard method, really) and I have no problems with Beautiful Widgets. Haven't tested XDA app. To be honest, I have problems with XDA app on my Droid 1, CM7, so I never use it.
Thanks everyone! I installed following the instructions from wiki.cyanogenmod http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Barnes_&_Noble_Nook_Color:_Full_Update_Guide
I will give it another shot and report back when I do. Right now I've gone back to cupcake, but still having a problem with beautiful widgets- gets stuck on the "loading skins" screen, never loads.
p.s. I *did* wipe the cache and data partitions
"Cupcake"?? I think you mean "Eclair"?
Cupcake was many versions ago, before the Nook existed, and the Nook Color ships with Eclair...
So, I switched to cyanogen, but I couldn't get beautiful widgets or snesoid to run. Trying to revert to factory settings, but every time I try I get stuck on the word ANDROID in blue.
I've tried hard booting 8x, I've tried running the script to change the bootcount but this just gets me to clockworkmod. I try running the factory reset/data wipe option, but it clearly doesn't remove cyanogen. I've also tried sideloading a 1.1 version zip, all to no avail. Any suggestions? Would uninstalling clockworkmod help?
Are you sure you followed the 8-failed-boots method precisely? That really should have brought you back to stock, at least as far as I understand.
http://nookdevs.com/Flash_back_to_clean_stock_ROM
I really do think so. It brought me to clockwork recovery instead of the usual factory reset...
Well I'm out of my league (I haven't done this) but it seems there are still ways... You could check out http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...install-cwr-save-root-revert-stock-image.html or do some searches here.
Now I'm stuck on the N sign instead of android... Tried everything in the link here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914690 including the boot partition. No dice. The only way i can get it to boot is to reinstall cyanogen. Is there some trick to uninstalling cyanogen? Any other suggestions out there?
It seems like cyanogen just WON'T WIPE. Even when I format my data, it still loads, despite clockworkmod reporting that it has been formatted. Ideas please!
Check at androidtablets dot net
look for the link about restoring and removing clockwork from an SD card. I'd post the link but I can't yet.

http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...install-cwr-save-root-revert-stock-image.html This one? tried it, no luck
Bummer. Yeah, that's the link. You might want to look in Nookdev too. They oulined a process that was similar, but they said you have to do the image restore AND unregister... though it's been a while since I've looked at it. It might be more helpful. Good luck in getting it back to stock.
This is unfortunate. I had been under the impression it was a LOT easier to get back to stock. (I still bet someone who knows will give you the right guidance.)
Oh well, I guess it's a good argument for using SD card booting exclusively -- I can't wait for a final CM7 SD Card ISO.
Hey guys,
I'm new at posting in the forums, so I apologize if I have put this in the wrong section. I read a lot of posts, but this is the first time i have posted a thread, ever. =P
Anyway, I have a Rooted White T-Mobile G1, I was running the somewhat recent build of Roalex's COS-DS ROM, and it started to get really sluggish and I was having a few other problems. (I love that ROM, and he has done a great job, I just felt like a change.) So I went to install Ginger Yoshi 1.4 after doing a nand backup, SD Wipe, and SuperWipe. Once i finished installing the ROM, I rebooted my phone and it started fine and everything. Then it asked me to choose which home I wanted... Which was confusing, considering it was a fresh wipe. I should only have 1 Home launcher on there. I realized that I have several apps from past times. (as in, a WHILE ago. I haven't had these apps for over a month easily...) I tried another wipe and install. Still to no avail... I did some searching and I couldn't find anything that could help me. Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to explain in some detail. Anyone have any Suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

I don't know this rom, but nowadays many roms have a backup functionality included and they are backing up the old (g)apps, flash the rom and re-install (some of) the old apps again.
"Some" because normally there is a list of apps to be backed up and re-installed. If your launcher is on that list and the rom has a different one pe-installed you then have two.
If you want to be sure to get a "clean" installation, use
Code:
fastboot erase system -w
Or flash ohsaka super wipe before flashing the rom.

Sorry, I should have specified, the "SuperWipe" that I mentioned above, is Ohsaka Super Wipe... I have flashed it many times, and reflashed the ROM many times as well... Still having the apps installed. The wierdest part of it all, is that they don't seem to be using my sd card space OR internal space, almost as if they are somehow from the EXT4 partition I have, and they never got erased... The odd thing is, is that I never figured out how to move stuff to EXT, so there shouldn't be anything on there...
My guess would be that these "old" apps were downloaded originally from the market. If you are registering the phone with the same account you were using before, the market will download and install all the apps again from the market.

Well the reason it couldn't be that, is that I actually don't have a data plan. I always skip sign in, and then enable WiFi. So the apps wouldn't be able to download until after I was signed in to my account. Yet, they are there right when I start :/
This is a very odd, occurance. Haha. Thanks you two for your responses though.

Hi, Anyone can help me to figure out how can i move all date(applications fails) to SD card? , because I installed some Apps on my sd but phone says that internal memory is low , I guess that some fails of Apps still leaving in internal memory.
can u pls elaborate the condition of ur phone?like whether u r rooted or not , wat rom u r running?
yes eventhough u move apps2sd , some data remains in internal memory...
Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk
Yes, it is rooted, android gingerbread 2.3.6
so u r wid rooted stock rom. so in order to increase internal storage so as to install more apps. you got two options.
1. flash a custom rom that supports sd ext ...
2. stay wid stock rom, install blackrose and resize partition.
Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk
Research Apps2sd or using something like darktremor script and a 1gb ext4 partition on your SD card
Sent from my Nexus One using xda premium
Which rom will you suggest?
How can I install rom?
Is it safe or can I recovery current rom after changing?
Thanks
hmmmm. bro u need to do some searching and reading before u do these things...
yes you can restore back to ur previous rom if u had done its backup in recovery... btw wat recovery are u running... stock or custom???

I don't know, I bought phone in new condition and does not change rom. How can I check it?
all those scripts are total crap your best bet is links2sd research it.
Thanks a lot.
One more question, I tried to find info about How can I turn on radio? but nothing exactly I can not Found, can you give me some links?
u mean fm radio right?
insert ur headphone and open that app

Yes I mean FM radio, but it officially turn off, I need some mod for turning it on.
About a month ago I was in the same position as you are. Was really new to all of this and I was constantly running out of space on my N1. All this stuff takes time to figure out, but its really not that difficult if you can follow direction and aren't afraid of typing commands. IMO the easiest way to expand your internal memory is to install CM7 and use S2E. Note that you are not really expanding your internal memory.. it's just a really cool work around. You'll want to make sure you have a fast sdcard, I'm using a class 10 32Gb card and life is good again.
I tried CM7, but with it GPS does not work.
If you've made it this far, getting CM7 on there, then getting the GPS working again shouldn't be too much trouble. At this point you might want to consider flashing a new kernel. I switched to 2.6.38.8 Tiamat_N1-v4.1.0, mostly because the stock kernel in CM7 had low in-call audio volume for me. It's working great so far and I've noticed better battery life.
Just make sure you do a nandroid backup first!!
OK, thanks, but from where I can download kernel and how can I change it?

Hello,
When I got my Note, I must have installed every app going on it, the phone got clogged up and just kept crashing out and being generally rubbish so I thought Id do a hard reset and start over. I booted into the stock recovery menu and just did a factory reset, it worked fine and the handsets fine but Im interested to know if on a stock rom, locked bootloader with no rooting could that affect my handset and mess with the storage capacity?
With me looking at rooting and roms Ive seen a lot of posts where people have rooted and done wipes on their phone and its corrupted the storage, loosing part of it, so I was just interested if the same risks apply to a stock handset?

See your post, I believe you are in GB rom / or on a safe ICS kernel.
Otherwise, I can only say you are damn lucky.
Rooting is not a problem in note. But wiping is a problem if u r on stock ICS kernel.
A lot of thread regarding this one alrd. If you're handphone is fine now, and you don't need root / etc... Just use it as per normal.
But if you want to do more with your handphone, read carefully on all thread that you wish to try to experiment on your handset.
I don't quite understand with what you want. Perhaps you could give your about screenshot, to know more on what stock rom you are now, and which kernel you are now. Then you list out what you need to do.

Im just interested in finding out if me resetting my handset could have corrupted the phones storage. Not including my SD card, my note says Ive got 1.97gb of internal storage and then 11gb of USB storage which considering its a 16gb phone means theres about 3gb less. Even my external card (which is 16gb) registers 14.3gb. so I was just interested to find out if this is correct or if it sounds like the reboot has caused an issue?
I've only had the handset a couple of weeks and obviously its all still under warranty so I've got the option to send it back, which is easier the newer the handset.

Those figures are correct, the rest of the memory is allocated to system. If you'd damaged the emmc you'd know about it cos the phone wouldn't boot. There's an app you can install to check for emmc damage in the play store

You need to be rooted to do a full scan.

Hi all,
First time poster; be nice please
I've recently upgraded my HTC Velocity with the CM10 and AOKP mods and both have been working great.
Prior to this, I had the ICS ROM installed which was posted by Leigh Kennedy (if memory serves).
Anyway, the issue I'm having is with both of the JB ROMs above, the SD Card is not detectable at all. When the phone boots, sometimes it will mount, sometimes it won't. When it doesn't mount, I do so manually via Settings > Storage > Mount SD Card.
It will mount successfully, and I can browse through the card via File Explorer (with Root Access), so it's definitely accessible.
However I find that any apps that require SD Card access (ie. Camera, Recording Software, Music even) say that there is no SD Card detected/inserted.
I've tried 3 different MicroSD cards (2GB, 8GB and 32GB (32GB is my main card), and completely wiped them and reformatted to FAT32), no change to the detection issue.
I've also tried to format via CWM in Recovery Mode, which shows to be successful on the format, but no change to the issue.
I initially thought it was the 32GB MicroSD card having the problem, but the same issue replicating on 2 other cards tells me otherwise.
I've completely wiped my phone clean each time (Data, System, Cache and Dalvik Cache), no change to the problem (which funnily enough doesn't make a lot of sense as I can access the SD Card in Recovery Mode perfectly fine?)
Any help with this one is greatly appreciated, as I'm at a loss
NB: My SD Card was working fine on ICS, the issue only started after upgrading to the JB ROMs above.

while the sd not being accessible on your computer is known, you should still be able to access via file browsers and other apps that need access. my camera stores to internal, and Apollo seems to find music on my external without a hitch. Unfortunately it sounds like you've done everything I would suggest, short of trying a Factory Reset

Thanks for the reply homeslice.
I just tried a Factory Reset then, and unfortunately to no avail
I'm surprised that I'm the only person with this particular issue on this phone (I've seen other posts on different handsets with a similar issue, which was deemed to be the SD Card, but in my case all 3 of the ones I've tested have fallen short of fixing the problem).
Got any other ideas? Because I love both ROMs, but the issue with the SD card is more annoying than anything.
EDIT: Ok, just reformatted everything once more, and installed the PAC-Man ROM, still broken.
Whether it's relevant or not, I even partitioned the SD Card to see whether the phone could pick it up via different apps, no chance.
Where did you partition the card and with what software...
I would recommend either using the phone or recovery...
Windows sometimes makes cards unusuable

OK, so I managed to flash TWRP Recovery successfully (couldn't do it via the Goo Manager, had to flash it manually via adb which was fine).
Sadly, the SD card issue still exists.
One thing I did notice however, with TWRP every time I tried to clear anything (Data/System/Cache/Dalvik Cache/Factory Reset), it came up 'Unable to mount emmc'.
Now I'm not entirely sure what this is, but the only time I have seen it is when loading Bootloader (as eMMC-boot).
Does this have any relevance to my current problem? CWM never used to error out like that.
NB: Having a hard time trying to find a link for download of WCX Recovery (could just be tired from work, who knows), but I'll keep trying.

Hmm, well the IMEI is still available via About Phone, so not sure if that's the same as what you're referring to.
However, I think I've had a development (not a good one though).
After reflashing CWM I tried mounting and/or reformatting emmc, it's unable to do anything with emmc at all.
When the recovery was TWRP, it didn't like emmc either, so something tells me emmc plus my storage issue are related.
I've done as much as I can think of, short of relocking bootloader and reflashing the RUU for the Velocity (which is currently being downloaded).
Can anyone think of anything else? Or is an RUU flash my absolute last resort?
Thanks for help so far guys, much appreciated.
EDIT: Helps if I actually answer your question rignfool.. lol. Yeah I can do absolutely anything I would normally on this phone with the custom ROM, short of apps accessing storage.
Well.. things have now taken a turn for the worst.
5% into my RUU reflash, ROM Utility crashes and now phone is stuck on an RUU bootloop....

Did you relock the bootloader before running the RUU? This is necessary. Also, were you last running an ICS ROM? If you were, you have an ICS boot loader and you need to run an ICS RUU. Lastly, make sure you are in Fastboot USB mode when running the RUU

Yeah, definitely made sure that bootloader was locked/relocked, as I found the RUU kept crashing when it was unlocked (couldn't read any information off the phone, and the phone auto-booted into Fastboot after relocking the bootloader in any case, as it couldn't load the OS).
And no I wasn't running an ICS ROM at the time (per my initial post of running 2 JB ROMs at different times (CM10 and AOKP)).
After a bit of perseverance I got the RUU to go through successfully, and lo and behold the SD Card issue has miraculously disappeared (which isn't overly surprising considering it's gone right back to Factory Defaults and some).
It seems the PC required the Utility to run in Realtime Priority as opposed to Normal.. lol.
I'll now look into reflashing the relevant JB ROMs and post back shortly with results.
WOOHOO! ..... I mean, yeah, it works now. lol
It seems that during the course of flashing the ROMs previously, my phone lost touch with itself; by that I mean it was unable to access it's own Internal Storage and part of it's External Storage (which seems to be part and parcel of the 'emmc' error I was receiving earlier).
Camera loads, Music loads, it all works! :victory:
Thanks for your help homeslice and rignfool, much appreciated.
Now to enjoy those ROMs to their full potential!
On a side note though, have you ever had an issue reported like this on any other handset homeslice? or rignfool for that matter?

Yeah I did manage to find a working recovery image for wcxrecovery eventually, but I find TWRP a lot better to be honest (CWM and WCX are also good though).
I guess it's just personal preference.
