[Q] Galaxy tab 8.9 lte P7320 - Galaxy Tab 8.9 General

Any devs in for the 8.9 lte 7320?? (as soon as possible please)..

I've never heard of this. Why would they make a sgh-i957 and a P7320 and brand both as the tab 8.9 LTE
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium

I received my 8.9 LTE today and it also says GT-P7320 on the back.
(I don't know where esa66 is from but I'm from Sweden in case that explains it)

I googled quite a bit and I can't find that much information on the device.
Is it tegra2 or qualcomm? I am guessing qualcomm for lte support...
could you link me to a full specs page?

it say tegra 2.
first time i see gtab 8.9 with lte and tegra ???

http://www.prisjakt.nu/produkt.php?e=1072071
Listed as a 1.5GHz dual core. Bet good money it's the same unit as the i957, just given an international model number instead of a North American one.
People would really like a firmware dump from that unit.

Mine is Qualcomm. I believe, like Croak said, that it's exactly the same as the i957.

Yes, think Sweden was first out with 7320. Europe or international version. Ive seen both tegra2 and Qualcomm info, dont know which one to trust hope qualcomm. Managed to root with sgh-i957root but lost my internal memory afterwards. How do you make an firmware dump.. Ill try if I can but Im not that good..

It you rooted it and it's functional with DaG's kernel, then it's a Qualcomm.
It probably does not have any significant hardware differences (other than perhaps antenna tuning) and firmware should be compatible as well (other than the modem.bin bits).

Yes, its functional with DaG's kernel but I have only 127mb of memory, cant find the internal sd-card it seems. Otherwise it works great.

Let me know how it goes, if you manage to fix it (the memory problem). I would want to root my device aswell but because of the different names I'm still insecure.

Maybe hop in da g's irc sometime to ask about the memory issue

Hi! Also hav putchased a 8.9 tab, LTE by Telia in Sweden. Waiting for functional root and especially CWM recovery.
1,5 Mhz, Qualcomm, 16 GB, No place for SD-card, only extension possible via USB connector.
Blazing fast in Telia 4G net outside Malmoe, southern Sweden, 20-42 Mbit/s

Did you solve this memory problem? I have this same and no solution found...

Hi! Are there a solution about the 127 MB probelm after root. Have the same problem.
Tried fist med CWM 5.5.0.4, them CWM could not find my internal meory so <i could not flash superuser.apk
Flashed then the D´G modded kernel and here I sit now...
Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 lte Sweden

with the 7320 firmware out, da_g should be able to make another kernel if you ask him.

Thanx Orlando, in Thailand atm will do some work when back home and maybe contact da_G.

AT&T Nexus One and custom roms

I've been hesitant to try my hand at flashing ROMs because I'm in Australia using an AT&T variant N1, my carrier uses 850Mhz as the 3G frequency (Telstra) which is same as AT&T.
I've read up on the general flashing instructions for cyanogen and feel comfortable to proceed (I have basic linux knowledge as well), but only sticking point is I'm a bit unclear as to whether there is any difference for me, being the 850 variant.
My best guess is that its the same process, same files/build etc., just don't flash the radio? Is that correct? Can someone whose done it on AT&T variant confirm? THat would be really really good
I'm going to follow the instructions here, on a side note, is amon or clockwork the better option?
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Nexus_One:_Full_Update_Guide
There is absolutely no difference for you.
Radio frequencies aren't dependent on baseband (radio) build, they're a function of HW. You can flash everything, radios included.
Read the Wiki.
Yep, go right ahead and do whatever you want.
I've hacked mine to hell and back with no issues
ROMs, no, no difference. Basebands and radios are a bit of a different story, though...

They aren't in Nexus, and they are exactly the same thing generally. Baseband = radio = SW that runs on baseband CPU.
OK thanks all
do I NEED to flash the radio i.e. can I get away with not updating the radio component? Just super cautious as I don't want to be in the hunt for a replacement in case of bricking, with all the dual cores just round the corner as wlel

If your radio is 4.06 or above, you don't need to flash it. If not - you do.

Korean radio is fine. 5.08 was present on all the current Nexus One replacement phones, and 5.12 is present on Vodafone ones.
Any specific reason why you're avoiding it?

It's called the Korean one because it first came about in a KT OTA. It's fine to use on any N1.
You don't have to worry at all about flashing radios. All the frequencies work with all radios. Note that you need at least 5.08 radio on cyanogen to be able to use the 720p video camera.

[Q] Anycall Galaxy S - bricked?

Hello,
my friend got a phone that at first sight i thought its the galaxy s i9000. but its the korean version of it with integrated dbm antenna.
but the problem he had was, that he tried to flash a gingerbread rom (for i9000) but came to me saying the phone does not boot anymore...
so i wanted to flash the correct firmware.. so i downloaded the latest one from http://m110sroms.info/ ...
but when i start the update with odin.. it stops with a FAIL at the very end of the flashing process.. i tried several times with and without closing Odin and with and without ticking repartition.. but it didnt help..
what is the problem? please help..
i downloaded another firmware but didnt worked either..
does he bricked the phone? is it possible to un-brick it?
please answers.. thanks
I don't know a lot about this, but I do know it's almost impossible to permanently brick your phone. So things could work out just fine . However someone with some more knowledge should help you out, since mine is insufficient. GL though.
i just tried almost every single firmware i found for this device but none of them worked
so please, if anyone does know a solution, feel free to post.

I just got a Galaxy Tab WiFi myself, but I did my research *before* I bought it. No Gingerbread is available, that I know of. There are not many alternative ROMs for the WiFi only model.
What did you use in your rooting attempt? The only two ways I know are with a Windows app or with z4root, an Android app. I haven't tried either one, here is a link to z4root on this forum.

****ty Samsung , is it so hard to just make an official Gb for this little tab considering the workforce they have at their disposal.
At one point I had heard that the Sprint stock GB (2.3.4) update worked on the Wifi only tabs, but I don't have a wifi only to test with.
I haven't heard of any alternative roms for the wifi only version.

EDIT: from other answers here the Sprint GB 2.3.4 ROM stock or rooted sounds the way to go, so it looks like this should work for you as it did for me on my Verizon CDMA tab.
It's hard to say for sure, experimentation is part of the fun, but killing the tab isn't. I didn't find any definitive answers on flashing a Sprint CDMA ROM on to a Verizon CDMA Galaxy Tab (for example), so I decided to try for myself:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255339
I suspect doing a FULL ROM flash would be a *very* bad idea (it seems doing that with a GSM ROM on other (non-GSM) tabs KILLS it). However, the technique I used was only to apply the kernel and filesystems, so I would *think* if you had a backup from before (always best to have a backup anyway, right?) you could always revert. You may want to look around and check to see if stock WIFI images are out there (I don't know for sure) but the Voodoo or CwM (ClockworkMod) recovery backups should be fine either way.
Then if you apply the filesystem and kernel files from 2.3.4 and they don't work you should be able to revert (I would assume, I can certainly flash back and forth on mine). I would *think* the kernel supports vanilla hardware + CDMA additionally (i.e. you don't need it, but it doesn't hurt), but may be fine.
But again, unless you're prepared to take the risk, I cannot say for sure, you can wait and see if anyone else chimes in, but that's my take.

You can save a flashable ROM in the sdcard. Then if the tab got bricked, you can insert the sdcard in and reflash again. But i don't recommend doing this because me myself never flashed my tab, only my nexus one.

few noob questions

sorry about these noob questions...but let start:
1. i got an att&t 8.9 3.2 honeycomb os. what is the latest os (official or unofficial) out there now that works smoothly with my device meaning everything works, front and back camera, sound etc. links would be great.
2. i'm getting ipc communication popup error every once in awhile. what does this error mean? how do i get rid of this error. i assume if i update to latest os, the error will be gone? btw, i dont have a sim card inserted in my device, so i don't really know if its matter?
3. my device sometime auto dim. how do i turn off auto dim if i want it to stop?
4. how do i get kies? do i install it on both my device and pc? if on my pc, where is the install file?
thx in advance.

Not familiar with your device but I'll give it a try anyway.
3: Press the time in lower right corner and then set a fixed brightness.
4: Kies for windows is avalable on Samsung webpage. Search for your device on support and then select software.
Kies for wifi is awailable on google play and is only needed if you want to syncronize over the air.
Did a search for ROM's but just came up with a custom here on xda. Hopefully someone else will help you.

Kies air (app) is for syncronizing your tab (files/contacts/music...) by wifi via Kies installed in your computer. It's not a wifi sharing tool.
Kies for PC is downloaded from Samsung webpage to your computer, not on to yor tab via market
If you install Kies in your computer and then plugin your tab (via cable) to it you can update the tab's system aswell as syncronize files (faster than wifi)
I dont think it's possible to update system via Kies air.

I suspect your tab isn't rooted. Then you should download Kies.
Go to the Samsung webpage, select support and then manuals and downloads.
Choose your device (you can choose the 7310, it makes no differens when downloading Kies)
When Kies is installed just plug in your tab and choose "update firmware"

So for a beginner, which one is easier for me to do? Go to samsung website download kies and update my firmware to ics or do odin?

The charging problem relates to people who updated their P73x0 with an image ported from the Tab 10.1.
I am not sure which Tab you have. Is it an 8.9 3G or an 8.9 LTE?
If it's an 8.9 3G model, and you don't mind not having support for a SIM card, then the modded / rooted image from the 7310 will work for you. If you ahve the LTE version then this image is definitely not suited for your device. So be careful!
I have a 3G model myself, currently without sim card. I decided not to wait anymore and flashed the modified 7310 ICS image onto it. I am completely happy. Everything works, except the sim card (because the image is for the wifi-only tab) and it is a lot smoother and faster than the honeycomb image.

This is based on the assumption that your'e not rooted and using a stock ROM.
The easiest way is to update via Kies:
No need for root
Coming from stock ROM most apps will continue to work
You wont void warranty
No special effort required from you
The battery issues some have had is best avoided by upgrading with a full battery (no garanties though)
I did my upgrade via CWM. I did a full wipe and then formatted system, cache and data folders before updating (all apps and settings are lost)
I haven't had any problem, actually my tab has better stamina now.

That's right. Besides, the Rom for the LTE are all Honeycomb so there's nothing to gain.
Kies works just like ota updates. Samsung is responsible for them.
Odin you are the one responsible and u must do all the work.
I did it by odin.
Cheers.

A bit more zippy than the stock ROM due to the reasons listed on that thread. Otherwise, it's Samsung's honeycomb image.
Yes, android native tethering, both WiFi and USB, is enabled.
If you still think it's slow, get a new launcher, twlauncher (touchwiz) is kind of a beast...
You can overclock it to 1.7ghz or so and it'll still be reliable, at least that's my experience.
The ATT ICS ROM is in test with the carrier. It'll probably be out in a month or two. Samsung should also release the ICS kernel source around then, after which you'll likely see some custom ICS images -- Nobody wants to bother making custom HC images OR trying to get an ICS kernel working on this device before Samsung releases a proper one -- Several have tried and found it quite a task.

ICS is out for the WiFi versions. The LTE version should be available with Odin or Kies before ATT offers it via OTA.

i rather not go thru all the hassle just for honeycomb mods.
but something does seems to interest me. it said about overclock to 1.7 ghz. how do i find out on my current 8.9 how many ghz is it running right now. and how do i overclock to 1.7 ghz? i assume you need to get some kinda apps from android market? if so what apps is it and is it free?
and what is touchwiz (twlauncher)? where can i get it? is it on the android market also?
thx for everyone help.

[Q] i9000 with CM10.1 bad WIFI and 3g signal

I've tried changing kernels but that doesn't do anything. Is there a different firmware/modem I can install onto this phone. I live in New Zealand so I'm guessing the modem that's on it now isn't suited for here. Can I just install a modem from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102881 ? or will that not work with CM10.1?
Hopefully I can get it sorted before I decide to sell this thing.
Cheers
Hey,
Strange, whereabouts in NZ are you? I'm in Auckland and I've had no problems befoe running CM10.1 in terms of my Wifi and 3G signal.
I think you should be able to flash in a different modem- I think most people recommend JVU not only because its a good modem but also because apparently it uses less battery.
From what I've heard you can flash in a different modem but I'm not sure.

I live in the Wellington region. I'm on 2degrees so that doesn't help so much since their 3g sucks. But yeah it's weird I can't even hold a Viber call on my wifi without it cutting out. Whereas on my Ideos x5 it was fine. I guess I might have to go back to gingerbread if I can't get a good modem :/
Thanks to the hard landlord great !
