I finally got a chance to order a touchpad through hp's site.
I almost got to the end when it said something like:
Thank you for choosing HP your order has been place blah blah blah
I hit next after refreshing for 15mins. It says that they had an issue processing the credit card and gave me 4 options
Edit billing info
Change payment option
And two others I forgot.
As I went to edit the billing info my pc shut off, ruining everything
I'm wondering if my order was actually placed. Please someone help.
There's no way to login to the business sit with the username because I registered during the process
Help please!

How are we suppose to help? Don't you usually get a confirmation email. If you didn't get one, order again.
The thing is I got an order number but never got a chance to write it down. I don't want to Be double charged.
i would call hp but i would just completely stay away from the touchpad i know its webos but it was incredibly buggy and they didnt sell any of them so itll probably be eold sometime soon
If I can get it for 100 I'm taking it
Iwait 25 mins to talk to someone who just kept saying do the transaction again. They have no idea that it took me 2 hours to get one. Thanks again guys
You do know the touchpad n webos just got axed right?

Seriously ... if it would come down to like $150 ... I might buy one. It can run Android apps so I'm all good with that. I was looking for a tablet for a long time before I bought my laptop (not much of a laptop considering it's an 18 incher). Although I would still like something with a screen larger than my phones while chilling on the couch.
I hear bestbuy was dumping those. Trying to make HP take em back for not selling...nut for 150 is take one haha
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
I heard Bestbuy will be selling them in the store on the East Coast (I'm in NJ) tomorrow. I ordered it of the SMB site but they say it was a glitch. They said they will receive a new stock next week, and my order says it will arrive around the 26th so I'm confident the order is firm
Check your credit card for purchases
HP Touchpad for $100
GOD DAMN IT!!! My friend just told me that Best Buy and HP are selling HP Touchpad's for $100. I just checked online and they are all sold out and all the Best Buy's close to me are sold out also. The Best Buy close to my work has them in stock, hopefully they will continue to have them in stock when I go over tomorrow during lunch.
There are also developers who are trying to get Android on the Touchpad. Think about it, a $100 tablet running Honeycomb/Ice Cream Sandwich.
I'm looking for a tablet and I was wondering if there is anything cheap out there that's is worth having. I don't want a complete POS, but I don't want to spend $400 neither. I'm just looking for something to take to work and watch some netflix on or browse the net. Also, if it can be rooted, even better.
I was just about to start a similar thread. I am looking for feedback on different tabs since I'm trying to decide what to get.
I like the fact that the Acer A500 has a usb port into which an external drive can be connected. I was wondering if any others have that. I also like the look of the Asus Transformer, but I've read that the build quality was less-than-ideal. Weight is also a concern for me, since I have arthritis in my hands.
Thoughts?
yeah well see what kind of info we get back. I may just go with a HP touchpad and see where it takes us in terms of android.
Im thinking the same thing as you guys.
Im gonna shop around for a good second hand deal, the likely candidates so far are the touchpad, the acer already mentioned or the advent vega.
If I could find a xoom at a bargain price I'd be pretty tempted too.
yeah I found a XOOM locally for 250 they say brand new on CL. I really dont trust CL but if I see it in person, and it works.. that might seal the deal.
Id really like android on mine ASAP, and that would lean me to the XOOM more so than the TP.. But only in due time IMO for the TP.
I haven't heard ANYTHING in the past few weeks about ICS, it's status, the work anyone else is doing (except Leo and Xron) or even the possibility of any updates to the beta we're on now. I've heard rumours of a min Jan launch for ICS on our TP, but can anyone else confirm?

Yes yes their one silly rule of not asking about when it's done. I didn't ask just about CM specifically, I also stated "the work anyone else is doing". I'm just looking for people keeping their ears to the ground and hearing things about whatever might be going on from whomever.

That's all we know for now. Hope that their work on ICS is so successfull that they literally have no time to post about updates
The vB2.8 Xron thread in the device forum has Leo talking all the time about how he's getting other really great devs involved. I'm sure 2.9 will be out soon, but CM9 is a different story.
Devs are always hard at work. They like to tinker... Patience is key. As for right now, Xron is good enough for me. I use it every day. Can do anything with it besides Skype (although I really haven't tried that yet).
"A little nonsense, now and then, is relished by the wisest men."
we have a very good xron rom so it's not difficult to wait few months for ics)
If you want to stay tuned , check dalingrin's twitter and cm's site.
Xron is pretty awesome. I'm thinking about getting a native android tablet like a Galaxy Tab 10.1 (someone is selling a brand new one for $300) and just selling this Touchpad. Maybe I'll wait it out and see. Has anyone had any issues with the casing cracking on their touchpad? What can I do to get warranty?

i will buy your touchpad if you decide to sell... I know a few devs ready and willing to buy it. This will have ICS long before Galaxy will have a good working one.
It will be a little bit for ICS. It's being worked on by whom I consider the best in the industry. Problem is we have NO GOOGLE or HP support for the touchpad. Then top it off we have a dual boot situation. Tonight I booted webOS for the first time in a month. That lasted an hour then back to android.
There is no way in Hell I would consider giving up my touchpad. No other tablet will have dual boot with two fantastic operating systems along with one that has native beats leaving the door cracked open for beats in android.
But, if you can't wait, name the price and what type of TP you have.
Thanks,

It's a 32 GB wifi Touchpad. I'm having a lot of issues with the casing getting cracks along the speakers and charging port. HP better warranty this. Apparently it's happened to a lot of people. Like I said, I don't know what I'm going to do yet. It works alright right now, a little on the heavy side and I have a few android phones I can sell to make up the $300 someone wants for their brand new never opened Galaxy Tab 10.1. I bought the HP Touchpad knowing that because WebOS was linux based that Android would be possible eventually. It's just development is moving a long a little too slowly. That's not including your ROM though, Leo. You're doing some awesome work for the tablet and in fact am the only reason why I'm holding on to it this long. But eventually the weight thing might be the swaying factor and the fact that a naively supported device is going to have so many less issues and small problems.
We'll see what I decide to do. I have someone looking at a few phones I threw up for sale and what HP says about the warranty on this thing. Max I would make you pay? The original $157.50 I paid for it plus shipping.

well the cracks around the speakers is cosmetic. Contact HP Support they will replace the casing.
I had the same issue with my TP. The customer support was good. They sent me a return box and label. All you have to do is to pack you TP as per instructions and drop it at nearby UPS store. I received the repaired TP within a week.
Act fast before the warranty expires.
Do you really expect these guys to be working on this much over Christmas? They have lives too, you know. Xron has become a great ROM lately as well and is getting new releases all the time. I'm sure ICS will be out some time this month.

My contacts tell me that making ICS for the Touchpad is almost like starting over. They have to get the drivers and all the goodies fixed before anything even close to stable can be released. It's sort of like when we waited for Gingerbread to come out. Man, it seemed like it took forever, but it was WELL worth the wait.
Patience, young ones.
Well I called HP and told them that it's cracking. They said they're going to send me a box that I can send the Touchpad back in and they'll fix the casing or give me a new one. I think I might end up getting it replaced, not touching it for fear of possible cracking AGAIN and wait to see what we're gonna get with ICS. Since we have all month to wait anyway it's a good time to send this Touchpad back to get it replaced. I just need to make sure I uninstall all the android based stuff and reset partitions so they don't see what I did.
why would anyone care about the TouchPad when new tablets are coming out
The N7 isnt being sold in my country, so some friends will be visiting the USA this month and i want them to buy me one. The thing is, after reading about some of the problems the device has, and people returning it 3-4-5 times, im afraid im gonna get a defective device and then im screwed cuz i wont have any store to go and replace it.
My Nexus7 has no problems at all and I love it. Its well worth the price I paid for the 16GB.

I'm from India and I'm also afraid about product quality. Here getting 8GB model for $250. I want to know, is nexus 7 supports USB on the go feature so that I can use pen drive for external storage? and what are cons you guys faced with your nexus 7 yet?
Guys, don't step out in the road, you have more chance of getting hit by a bus than you have of getting a bad N7!
The N7 works with all kinds of external storage but you need to root it first, there's good instructions on what to do on these forums when you need them.
/edit, just had a thought, those might not be very good odds in India
As someone who has received three units with screen lifting, I wouldn't caution you as strongly as you might expect me to.
That's the only really common defect, and in most cases it is not severe enough to affect usage. The last two I received have been minor cases of separation. The reason I won't accept this flaw is because of the possibility that it will worsen over time, but keep in mind that this is speculative.
My experience with the device has been overwhelmingly positive aside from this, and if the Nexus 7 is right for you then it may be worth purchasing even if you do get one with the kind of separation I've been dealing with. Although the warranty friendly fixes have been found to be temporary, if it bothers you that much then good old fashioned super glue will do the trick. Many who have gone through multiple returns have decided that they like the tablet enough to dispense with this RMA business and jimmy it down themselves.
Don't let anyone tell you that screen lifting is a rare thing, but it's not the end of the world. This is a great device even with the fault.
You can get your friend to check it for you and if its bad return it on the spot.

And yea the price for 8GB Nexus 7 is best anyone can get in India right now. On ebay india it costs approx 320$ for 8GB N7.
So buying N7 8GB for 8GB is a great deal for me.
Is there any chance that by now there is an already free defects batch rolling out?
I remember when the HTC Sensation came out it had also multiple issues. I bought mine about 5 months later and had no issues at all. I cant do it here because either i buy it this month or i wont buy it at all
:bump:
@Dr. Sheldon take a look at the android development sub-section in the Nexus 7 forum. There are several methods of rooting the device, most of them requires little interactions with the device.
Also, the ones who have had defects are among the thousands who haven't encountered any problems, so your odds should be pretty good. Best luck to you mate.

Don't be afraid, that's what Apple want to to feel. That's where this whole myth of Nexus7 problems originate from...
The vast majority of Nexus7's are fine. You only hear about the ones with problems.. (or claimed problems. I suspect only 10% of those are genuine, the other 90% Apple viral marketing at work).
People here are saying there's a small amount of defective n7s but I'm on my third one. First 2 had dead pixels, and my current one has screen lift. Guess I have extremely bad luck
I got mine overseas and notice screen flickering and screen tear the first day.
I also cannot return it.
But I pop it open (easy enough) and tighten the screw, it seems to fix the screen tear.
Only notice the tear once yesterday after a whole week. And people on forum already has solution for flickering.
So I cannot settle if it is hardware or software related.
I think for the price of half an iPad, it is lighter and smaller.
So I can definitely deal with the small imperfection.
So go ahead and get it.

The very vocal minority here may have problems, but the majority (the 99% lol) have no issues. If there was a global issue, I'm sure you'd hear about it on NBC/Fox/CrApple News/etc. I have my Nexus, no issues and I love the thing. Great device and no regrets!

Hi Dr. Sheldon
I have hours worth of videos on the Nexus 7. Showing OTG functionality(mouse/keyboard, remotes, usb hubs, controllers, camera connection and control), how to root, comparison, NFC in action, streaming your desktop screen, and more. My youtube channel is down below in the signature. But these are my perspective. There are allot of great videos others are publishing showing all the good and bad from different viewpoint. As a developer and hobby android developer, this is a great device. This is a great forum and community that will really unlock allot of potential in the Nexus 7, the most interesting sub-forum in my opinion is the Nexus 7 Developer.
For rooting Nexus 7, this is a very comprehensive video that was put together: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrZaU5i2x4w&hd=1
Best Regards

There is no such thing. There will always be a number of defective devices for various reasons when things are mass produced. The number of issues you are seeing in the forum is skewed as most people who have no issues, rarely use forums or post about their experiences.
I've now touched and used 5 brand new 16gb Nexus 7's out of the box and they were all fine. The first was in the first initial pre-launch batches with the latest being 3 days ago. I know that others have had issues but that is the experience that I've been seeing.
I got my 2nd one today and it has screen lift and burn in.
I'm getting a refund.

First off... This phone is amazing. With that being said it has its quirks. Audio, Source and probably other things. But this device has the best potential to be the best device of the year. Of course T-Mobiles 800 dollar price in the beginning didn’t help anything. But at 375 right now that’s a steal. As of right most devs who were working on the bring up of the device have given up due to little knowledge or moto's crap. IF we can get this device into the right hands there could be so much potential. SO as for the state of the device right now its being abandoned for no reason really. SO how are we going to fix it? Thats what im here to ask you guys. Would you guys be willing to pull together and get a device pool started to get the device to the right developer and get a spark going in the community. Or leave it how it is and try to make it work. As of right now its me and maybe 2 others who were/are currently working on the device. Id like to make that a few more. Please let me know in the comments what you guys think we should do... As for me I bought the essential phone and still have the z2 and I like both but the z2 is just so fast. I really dont want this device to die. It deserves a shot.
Here is a pool for the device to go to the right dev. https://paypal.me/pools/c/80zSDgB3xa I put it at 400 to cover taxes and the device from tmobile. if there is anything else needed i will pay the rest.

I'm definitely down to donate. I've been learning Android but nowhere near ready to develop a ROM or anything. Once I have a PC very soon, I'll be able to test and help out with some things. If it's worth doing, I'll use my jump trade with tmobile and get a new phone and donate this one to someone actively working on it. Either way, I'd hate to give up using this phone due to lack of interest or something.

It's a pool as in people chip in and once we hit the 400$ I order the z2 force and ship it to a dev that can get things going for us
Chipped in $20
you might consider dees troy from TWRP. He developed TWRP for the One Plus One which allowed hardware encryption. I contacted him earlier and he said that he doesn't have a Moto Z2, doesn't plan to buy one and doesn't develop TWRP for phones he doesn't have. I have contributed.
I also had an Essential phone at one time, but returned it. It was heavier but otherwise nice. The lack of antenna's for 4 MIMO needed for Qualcomms gigabit modem was what finally convinced me to go with the Moto Z2. I haven't had any problems with the battery lasting more than a full day for me.
Also I am looking to get the keyboard mod from Livermorium when it becomes available. By the way, I just got the Insta Share Projector which came with the $300 cybermonday T mobile deal, which I plan to sell on ebay and bring the cost of the Z2 down to below $200. If anyone here is interested, PM me.
200 is quite a good deal how did you get ahold of deestroy? i would like to ask him if he would like one

Yeah im sure a lot of people would chip in, there is a lot of misinformation or lack of it at all. There are several threads where users say they got the device Sim Unlocked, but no where lists the process to do it, just to contact users outside of XDA. Very shady, why can no one just post the tools/instructions. Ebay/Swappa is chock full of sim locked devices that would be great deals but no one can use them because of all the new sim unlock rules form carriers. I have ATT and dont want to get a bootloader locked model from them but cant find any devices that are pre sim unlocked and i am holding off on picking one of these up until i see if the community picks up or if i should just go ahead and get the pixel xl 2.
Right now you can find unlocked tmobile z2s which work with att just fine for pretty cheap. I know personally they work on att and even support att video calling lol and at the current price their going for (375 at tmobile) its amazing. Im pretty sure i know a site that unlocks for around 40 also one that ive used numerous times. and if i can get the device to the dev im thinking of we will have lineage in no time
I'm down for development. Let's organize, plan and build.
Sounds great. I just chipped in and eager to see some ROMs down the road.

Current list of devs who said they would help. @invisiblek

Can you get @invisiblek to confirm he'll work on stuff? The only things I'm really interested in are adoptable storage (or similar hacks, currently using apps2sd folder binds which are slightly buggy), and getting the Sony PS4 remote play libraries working on here so I can use it with the game pad (which I currently have working with magisk). I don't know much about Android development but I should probably break out an old device and see what I can make happen. I really want this thing to expand the storage and be security patched with the ability to play PS4 on the gamepad. That's really it haha. If someone experienced knows what they are doing and is willing to pop on board though, I'm all for pitching in to make it happen.

If we get the device to him, Invisiblek said he'd assist where he can.

Well yeah I see people saying that but I don't see him saying that. Any chance he can confirm? It's not that I don't trust you guys, it's that I've donated to causes in the past where a half hearted comment in a one off pm was blown out of proportion. I'm willing to take the risk you guys aren't going to take the PayPal money and run either, I just want some confirmation that yeah, this dev will seriously give this a shot if given a device from their own mouth basically.

I understand your worry. I wouldn't have donated $50 if I didn't know if the device would go to good hands.

Update per the Z2 discord: We have pooled enough money and @joemossjr is mailing the device to @invisiblek. Estimated delivery is a week from today. I see great things for this device's future! Huzzah!
I'm so excited you are working on this @invisiblek . Since the goal was reached I am sending you a donation directly via paypal
I have a bricked Z2F currently, which is why I am not contributing right now. Looks like its either wait an unknown amount of time until a blankflash is released for it, hack the xaomi blankflash to work with the Z2F, or pay the $150 to have motorola replace it for me. I am thinking that I am going to just pay the $150 because it is much better than waiting until this phone becomes out of date.
Side note, dont switch boot slots after flashing TWRP and then try to switch back to the original slot with adb. Reflash the device.
