I've seen that quite a few other devs on on other forums working on ICS roms for their phones. Where's ours?

ICS
It's out there in the ether, right along side the GB update.
Don't ever forget that those ICS ROMs out there are leaked from manufacturer, the only one from scratch is Cyanogen. But unfortunately the O3D and Thrill manufacturer is one of the worse in the mobile world, so don't expect leaked ICS builds so we can work with before July, I really don't think it will happen.

Just saw on the g2x forum that official gingerbread is avalible for it. That hopefully means we shouldn't be that long after. Or, is it T-mobile that's making that firmware? Anyhow, it shouldn't be that hard to make it work on our phone. Atleast till LG releases theres.
Anyway, what's your thoughts? Should someone try to fix this for our device? Should be relativity easy. And if it is tmo that's making the FW, then I guess mkv support and such is gone. Pauls Gr1 is probably better in every way except maybe stability, which should interest someone atleast.
Looks gash to me, Gingerbread userspace atop Froyo kernel.
Just read Paul O'brien's tweet: "v21e rolling to the G2X... better late than never eh?"
Hopefully the update voor de 2X will follow soon.
Fingers crossed

Ive been using the GR1 from modaco site and it damn smooth, cant wait till other devs get there hands on it to tweak and kernel it, it will be MEGA
Some Italian site had the news of gb release in UK, anyone can confirm?

Don't worry optimus brothers and sisters... You aren't missing out on much! Its not an official update, by that I mean its not complete or supported by T-Mobile USA. As stated it still has a froyo kernel and the only thing that changed for me was faster GPS lock and faster boot time, otherwise cm7 is still the way to go. Also comes with stupid asop camera and only 2.3.3
I'm tired of LG!

Just wondering if this had anything to do with the class action lawsuits.
Anyone in the UK think we can return the handset under the sale of goods act as it said Upgradable to GB on the box but is still not upgradable?
I just got a replacement thrill still have issues with the phone I was wondering if someone can help me find a link to when this phone will get 2.3 gingerbread
Sent from my LG-P925 using XDA App
It hasn't been announced and nobody knows for sure. Last date I read was Dec. 9th which came and went.
At&t promised GB to all 2011 phones by the end of the year, but when have they been known to be truthful?
Sent from my LG-P925 using Tapatalk
well you can just use the GB KDZ file and it would work.
If I have a replacement phone and the problems continue what will at&t do
Sent from my LG-P925 using XDA App
you could try cm7... thats gb. and man is it quick
Sent from my LG Thrill 4G...
Its quick, but its not very polished yet. I havebtried sk3 yet, but the first selfKANG was rather buggy. I'll be trying out sk3 soon. We'll see.

Is this even a possibility? Is there any interest in this? What needs to happen to get a functional daily driver Miui rom on the Bionic?
Does someone just need to port it, or is there some kind of issue because of the encrypted bootloader that makes it an impossibility?
My Google searches do not turn up many answers. How can we make this happen. I love miui, mainly the theme changing aspects.
I believe it is the same thing as cm7/9 we are waiting not sure on his name to fix the 3g 4g stuff and the til I believe its called its not going to be too difficult as far as development are concerned not that miui is going open source so 4g will soon be possible so i think it is just a aosp based issue that needs to be resolved anyone correct me if I am off my rocker
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using XDA App
Yea you are probably right. They need to get the 4g data issue fixed on aosp first. I think the Bionic has some great potential for development, hopefully the devs figure it out soon.

Fyi after I posted this I searched to see if I was right and I Google's bionic miui and there was a thread on miui.us about this exact issue Google is your best friend aside from me ha ga
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using XDA App
Yes I see something now. Here is the link I found http://forums.miui.us/showthread.php?5433-Motorola-Droid-Bionic-ROM-REQUEST!
Yes, it looks 4g in CM for Bionic needs to be established first. Time for me to look into more developer friendly phones I guess, lol.
I give it 3 months and the development will skyrocket especially since muiu is now open source with source code available
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using XDA App
I think development will become more active once Motorola releases ICS for the bionic. I think some developers are waiting until it's released to see what they have to work with. Right now its just a waiting game.

Exactly about three months plus we should have a working ics rom with in a month is my guuess at least what motor told me
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using XDA App
I hope you guys are right. I have seen lulls in development before, but nothing quite like what the Bionic is experiencing. I didn't know Miui was open source, that's good news at least.
Ya saw it on androidcenyral the other day

Currently have a vivid and a gs2. I'm hoping for some reassurance that the devs we have here would hopefully be able to work on a cm9 or aosp ics later when all the sources drop. I've got to decide which phone to keep and ive seen that the gs2 has more devs working on stuff than we have for the vivid. Just a question. Any feedback from developers is appreciated. Thanks!

I'm working on porting ICS to the Velocity/Vivid/Raider myself. I will let you know how I go.
Also, I'm more than happy to let you test when I get as much bugs out as possible.
Upon trying to flash the system.img from Android 4.0, the handset got stuck at the HTC screen.
DHS2 is no more far along than we are in asop. Both are new still and it will take some time for either. Cm will have builds for us possibly in a month maybe sooner. Blog said something about them posting source for qsd8660 sometime in the near future I believe. That's our processor so it'd be a huge boost.
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda premium
Yes, talking with an official CM Dev on IRC he confirmed it was likely that the Amaze/Rezound/Vivid line of phones (MSM8660) would receive official CM support. At the moment the 8660 is next in the list, right now CM is working on other devices, specificially the galaxy line.
CM9 is coming, it's just a work-in-progress. Check the thread in the Development subforum to see my current progress. Updates will be posted there as they happen.
Yeah, I wouldn't mind testing out ICS when someone gets it up and running on the vivid.

the latest ics release for s-off only devices requires hwboot 1.85
it shouldn't be that much longer for rogers to release ics for the raider....
Yeah, or Telstra does for the Velocity.
Telstra are really slack with their schedule as it is almost mid-March and not what we would consider "Early March"

Will we be able to use the source from the Nexus when that update is released...or will we have to wait for AT&T (or whichever carrier) to release their version of it?
So you guys do think that we will at some point get a jellybean rom?

Considering the GSM Galaxy Nexus came out before our device, and the fact its being updated...I wouldn't see any reason our device can't get in on the JellyBean fun.

Yes it may have come out before the vivid but the current and new nexus phones always get the current and new Android OS cause its Googles phones. The NExus came out with ICS out of the box, our vivid did not. It came with gingerbread. So Im sure if we do get a Jelly Bean OTA there will be a JB port before hand. That has always been my experience phones that already received an OS update before a new OS came out. Like with Froyo to GB or GB to ICS.
There isn't any reason why we shouldn't, after all my Captivate shipped with 2.1, and was on 2.3.5 after 2 updates, but it was sold in different times. When I got my Captivate the market for android phones wasn't near as saturated, and the Captivate was AT&Ts Galaxy S varient, only like their 5th android phone, and the other 4 were outdated teeny bopper texting toys. The Captivate was a no brainer for anyone who wanted a serious android phone in 2010 and wanted to stay on at&ts network. The result was a ton of owners, top notch xda support, and 2 major software updates as AT&T knew our contract would end eventually and wanted to keep us as customers.
Now times are different. The Vivid was one of many really, in fact it didn't even get the first LTE phone on at&ts network distinction, instead it had to share that with the skyrocket. And now the one x is out and the Vivid is kind of following in its shadow, not to mention HTC is struggling for business and is falling behind on upgrading other phones ie the rezound that came out the same time. I could see us being one and done. I hope we at least get a patch to deal with bugs at some point but I'm not holding my breath for jb

HTC released this statement.
"We are excited about Android Jelly Bean and are planning to support it across a variety of our devices. We are reviewing the software to determine our upgrade plans and schedule, so please stay tuned for more updates on specific device upgrade plans."
you can find the story at android central (i cant post links yet )
Maybe we will get an OTA before a port....
Yeah either way it'll take a while, it always does.
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda app-developers app
I came from the Samsung Infuse and when samsung said they were going to release an OTA it meant that there was no way the end user was going to get it. Either AT&T blocks it or Samsung never sent it. Thats why I am happy with HTC. The last couple of HTC devices have been pretty good with OTAs
My vivid was the shortest wait ever but as a flyer owner they aren't always so great :'(
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda app-developers app
You really think the Vivid will receive an OTA JB update? I highly doubt it. I'm just wondering if we will get a port.
To some extent yeah I could see it just because there are a lot of snapdragon s3 Htc phones out there so porting to our device isn't hard, and It's not very old. But I also could see us being one and done too as the one line is supposed to be a new beginning for HTC and that's their primary focus no doubt. But if we don't get it than I can't see any other phone HTC s3 based phone getting it either.

OTA- Huge possibility
Port- definitely
Only question is which shall come first?
You know what I bet we will get it. The Vivid was AT&TS flagship HTC phone until the one x and HTC will want us to upgrade to another HTC phone when our contract is up. But at the same time our ics Rom needs a stability and performance update, and if they gave us that instead I'd be happy
